Is there a program that allows offline MSN chatting? - General Topics

I tried Windows Mobile Live, Pocket MSN, IM+ and Talkonaut. Using these I can't send messages while maintaining offline status. Talkonaut looks like it allows for this kind of chatting but you still appear online...

You want to send MSN messages while being offline ?
Is this the same as making phone calls with no sim card ?

u mean to appear offline and chat?

Just for your information, Windows Live Messenger (new MSN Messenger) allows for various "offline" things :
Chatting with another MSN user while appearing offline
Sending a message to someone who appears offline but isn't really
A last one : sending a message to someone who's really offline. The message will appear on the user screen on his next connection
It would seem that his question is not so stupid, what do you think ?

Slick can send/recieve offline messages... I also believe you can send wibes with it.

IM logging?

Was just wondering what are the various IM clients out there? Currently I'm using MSN messenger, and tried cooking imov into the rom (but it didn't work...).
I currently leave my MSN messenger logged in, occassionally, messages would come in but I might have missed them. Answering an incoming call cuts off the GPRS connection, and all the open MSN chats close too - as a result, those messages are gone. =(
I'm actually looking for an instant messenger client (MSN and/or ICQ) that would allow me to log chats automatically. Recommendations anyone?
Imov is good but it doesn't work if it is part of a cooked ROM ... another better client is AgileMessenger [freeware] which has direct connection to the 4 IMs without the need for a Jabber server
I use agile, and it seems to be good. The only problem is as mentioned above is if you get a call you loose your gprs connection. Otherwise it seems to work good.

I believe this is a limitation of GPRS rather than Agile. Been looking at it and it does look good - at least, unlike MSN messenger, unread messages don't get lost when the GRPS disconnects. I guess thats nice, but I'd really like something that would keep logs as well... hmm. The 'autostart' that MSN messenger has when an internet connection is detected is interesting too.

Desktop MS outlook and SMS plugins

Hi,
Anyone know how I get SMS ( or email ) messages from MS outlook when a meeting is due.
There must be MS Outlook plugins that can do this type of cool stuff
Please advise
My idea..have my home business PC on all the time so when a meeting arrives I get an SMS/email (prefer SMS) reminder to my phone.
I dont want the calendar and meeting on the phone with all that sync hassle !!
sms is a features that normaly require 2 cellphone devices sending the msg from 1 to the other
outlook normaly dont have access to a gsm network
there are some free internet services
so it would be possible to write a plugin from scratch which would use one of those services to send a sms to the phone when outlook got a appointment notification
problem 1 is being that there are many services out there
some which prob charge for it
it may be diff to write a general plugin which is prob why there are non now
that is if there really are non
other thing is sms even between 2 network can be delay'd for up to 24hours depending on the agreements between the networks
and where in teh world one is
free internet to sms services too
also outlook have to be running to react to appointments in the first place
if it's not it dont autostart it's by no mean an exchange server in itself
and when it's then started it react to all notifications overdue
so after a hollyday one would be bomb'd by sms's for meetings while one was away
dont really see a market for that many people who need this because they dont like to sync calander

Auto pushing of e-mail to SMS

when a e-mail reach the outlook of the PC, it will auto send out as a SMS to a number?
or a WM5/6 phone on 24 hour and connected to the internet, once it get a e-mail, it will forward out as a SMS?
Thank in adv.

I'm not sure about using outlook to do it, but with gmail, you can create filters to forward emails.
The only downfall is that it cuts off the message after the 160 character limit.

But my service provider didn't give me a e-mail address for me to forward to become an SMS.
Who is your provider? mine does something like [email protected] so, I would wonder if yours would do something similar.
Mine is Singtel from Singapore...

[REQ] PC messaging app

Hi
While my HD2 is away for repair i am stuck with a Nokia 2760 loan fone. Believe it or not the nokia has a feature I would LOVE to have on my HD2.
The nokia PC suite connects to the phone using Bluetooth and alerts you to new text messages etc. It then allows you to view the message and even reply.
Is there any program that can do this for the HD2?
Apologies if this has been asked before
Take a look here :
http://www.microsoft.com/globaldev/outreach/dnloads/smsSender.mspx
though I think it's only for sending SMS outbound
I use the Jeyo Mobil Extender ! www.jeyo.com
So, I can see my SMS Messages in Outlook, get Notify in Outlook if a new SMS there and can send SMS Messages with outlook.
Thought I'd try that MS one but just found after installing that it doesn't work in vista. Bah!
try this

you could try panda pc suite , its quite useful for just about anything including showing incoming calls/ sms chat etc

[SOLVED] Some messenger contacts appear offline

Dear all,
I have this issue with my Mango on HTC Titan.
Some of my Windows Live Messenger contacts always appear offline in the "online" page of the messaging hub. I know they are online on Windows Live Messenger, and I see them online if I use my pc.
Even stranger, if I try to send them a message, by forcing "Messenger" in the chat page (even if the phone claims the contact is offline), the message gets delivered to the contact's Messenger client immediately.
Also, the contact does see me online. It's basically like if the contact is in "invisible" status, but just for my phone.
Note that it happen with *some* of my Windows Live contacts, not all of them!
Did anyone experience the same issue? Any ideas?
Many thanks
maTTeo
I found the solution.
Basically the contacts who were always invisible to me on the phone, were those in which I had ticked (involuntarily) "Limit XXX's access" on their page on the address book at people.live.com.
I still don't understand why, if I limit a contact's access, I can't see him online from the phone, while he can still see me online. At least vice-versa would make a bit of sense.
Hope this can help anybody with the same issue.
Cheers
maTTeo
