Best 6.1 ROM? - HTC Vox

Hello,
I have started having frequent crashes with my 6.0 ROM-based VOX. I don't quite know what's happening, but it's no longer reliable.
So, instead of starting from scratch with 6.0, I'm thinking I'll jump to 6.1 to hold me over to my upgrade to ???? (X1? Touch Pro? Dunno!)
Anyway, there seem to be a couple fine 6.1 ROMs for the S710. Has anyone done an overall review and comparison/contrast so I can choose the right one for me?
Also, are there any compatibility issues with apps with 6.1? Doubt it.. but can't hurt to ask.
Any info greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Jon

Forget everything and simply upgrade to fireburned latest v1.1 and enjoy
Don't expect more from any other ROM above fireburned latest 1.1

Thanks. Are there any performance issues with fireburned 1.1 6.1 ROM? Will it be slower or faster than the stock 6.0 ROM? How about battery life?
Any info appreciated before I make the jump!

fastest amd most stable so far. Battery life is better.

I made the general experience that 6.1 is usually faster than 6.0 (except for really bad 6.1 ROMs, but fortunately there aren't any of those for the Vox)!

The new ROM from martin Gonzo is really fast and gives a nice new interface (custom slide panel)

Which "new" ROM? I'm having a hard time keeping track. Is there a name/version you recommend? Is it faster than the "clean" one from fireburned?

I'm sorry, here is the link to the rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=419995
I only used it since yesterday, but till now it is very fast. I find it faster then the clean rom.
To be honest i am also searching for the ideal rom but my experience is that the roms from martin gonzo usually work very well.

Thanks. Is the Mona Lisa theme changable?
Do you have any idea what would make this particular ROM faster than other ROMs? Do you overclock?

There is no clear answer on this.
Before Dr. Gonzo Mona Lisa XIP 20262 / build 19593.1.1.7, i already tested Hikey same version ROM XIP 20262 / build 19593.1.1.7 but found unstable. Sometimes got freeze whereas it was latest. Same is the story with this ROM.
later tested Fireburned ROM XIP 20262 / build 19202.1.0.0 but found quite stable. speed wise both are same. Also fireburned mentioned somewhere builds 19593 are buggy when he was going to release version 1.0
So any ROM if it is 6.1, dont go for speed, speed is same but check for stability and responsiveness.

Well, LeFab's roms are best. I am fan of him. I would suggest try his WM6.1 clean version 1.1. Stable and very fast.

I've used Gonzo's 1.1 for a couple of weeks now, and am very pleased. No issues that I attribute to the particular ROM. Good set of "ingredients", and noticably faster and more stable than the 6.0 I upgraded from.
CHome is nice, but I quickly reverted back to my old Facade.
I particularly fancy the Vol up/down -> BT/Wifi shortcuts.
I had been seriously considering buying a Touch Pro, but with the second life my Vox has been given, I might postpone that for a long while - maybe even till the next generation appears.
Note that I've tried no other 6.1 ROMs, so am in no position to compare.

I have used quite a few ROMS and none of them gave me any trouble except the last one-MONALISA by Dr. Gonzo which freezes my vox everytime a aprticular application is used. The fireburned 6.1 ver 1.1 is very good, stable and fast. However, i am now using a chinese ROM by Hikey which uses latest XIP as pointed out by sk chattha. It needs a few customisations as its prinary language is chinese. But once changed to English it is running very fast and is rock stable in my vox contrary to what sk chattha has said regarding stability issues. The 96 dpi ROM - 1st version by zeeshan is also very good but fonts are too small for me. However, under all circumstances I would recommend fireburned 6.1 v1.1 and radio of 4,13,54.
Thanks.

I'm using the newest Neo rom with the latest xip of fireburned. Very fast and stable!

At this moment what is the best Windows Mobile 6 ROM??
1) WM6 Smart v2
2) Fantastic Mobiz XBow v1.1i
3) PDAMobiz Prophet WM6 V1.00
4) other?
Thanks!
Well I am using Fantastic Mobiz XBow v1.1i and I personally feel this is the best of the 3 roms.
I have Used Smart v2 on my Dopod 818 pro and it was pretty buggy with crashes. With Fantastic Mobiz XBow v1.1i i havent had any issues so far been using it for a week now.
For my use i do best like Smart1 WM6 V2.. I think theres to much crap with the Fantastic xbow v1.1i.. Many apps wich i never gonna use and thats not the case with smart1 v2, wich i also think is the fastest of all the current wm6 roms..

For which phone? and what is your view of "best"? If I assume you are talking about prophet phones cuz you posted here, then the answer is depends. What are you looking for? I tried pretty much all of them, none of them are perfect to my standard. Wait for the official ROM for prophet if that is ever gonna happen. I will be perfectlly happy with an official wm5 AKU 3.3 even.

Smart1 v2 runs pretty fine here without crashes. Just the documented bugs.
Yo Alberto... as you can read in the forum, all those WM6 for the Prophet are a lill buggy. It compares to the user and his wishes, if one bug is important for him or not.
if you r looking for a fast and stable Prophet ROM, in my opinion the ASERG Rom is the best and the fastest you can get at the moment.
No WM6 Modification reach that speed, i tried them all and turn back to ASERGs ROM. I guess a stable WM6 for Prophet will take a while, anyway thanks to all of you guys who spend their time on modding it for us .

sure ASERG Rom is the best and the fastest WM5 with WM6 appear
Stable no hang .... no soft reset ... never and never need hard reset
Yes, but .13.ASERG loses email settings, WiFi settings and God-knows-what-more (I'm testing it right now) when soft-resetted or battery removed. Inacceptable, I guess :/

Best Rom For HTC Wizard?

I know many of you may think this is based on opinion, but personally I'm new at the scene and just tried Faria's WWE WM6 ROM (the real thing) featured at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=297762 .
My original reason for installing was cause my 8125's OS started lagging lately for some reason (it would take a few seconds for menus and items to show up instead of being instant). In addition, battery life was HORRIBLE (would die in around 2 days). So I went and downloaded Faria's WWE WM6 ROM (the real thing). Installation was easy, the ROM worked great, my battery life greatly improved (even though I overclocked to 247 with cpuscaling at 143).
Unfortunately, I messed around too much and accidentally killed my phone application , not to mention the OS has started to lag (probably because I installed too many things?).
Either way, I'm looking to download a new ROM. I want something that has all the features of Faria's HTC Wizard Rom (the real thing), and more. I don't care too much about extra space, because frankly I don't need it. I just want something that's fast and feature-packed (and includes everything from Faria's ROM). Any tips or suggestions? Help would really be appreciated, as I've just gone through 3 ROMS that I didn't like. Thanks.
try explore rom it prob more of the lines your looking for
Try this one.

I have tried many different ROM's, I keep going back to this one. It's the most stable for me.
Core 2.0n
For me, the best WM6 rom is the Core 2.0n (based on XPlore 1.0)
Thephone is very fast (boot in 35 seconds), no bugs, working well with TomTom6.
I'm only waiting a full French WM6 rom
for months of WM6.0 use; Faria is the best for stable.
im testing Pandora 1.05 right now.
From all of the ROMs that I have used. I think Faria is the best one. it's very stable.
pfff i think its best for me:
base version of Pandora:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=307080
and core 2.0 of coz.
Faria's overloaded imo.
i like reloaded
Faria The Real Thing is most stable for me
soft reset everyday, to remove the slow down due to any memory leaks
and I'm gonna buck the trend here, wm6 is SLOW. use a 2.26 if you want a quick one
two day battery life sounds good some people think one day is good others, several days (but it depends how much you use it).

5.2.1413 fast
Hi,
i have been using Xplore 2.0n and it is great.
Its near Full Vanilla, but it supports AD2P and most of the basics.
The new 5.2.1413 build is FAAASSTTT, and there are FULL VANILLA releases, nevertheless, i was unable to set AD2P.
If there is a fix for ad2p, i will surely switch to 5.2.1413 because it is way way faster than Xplore 2.0n

The ROM Kitchen is the newer version of Faria's rom, and its vanilla, but you can add stuff into it. My Crossbow Reloaded (link below) is a cooked version of this rom with stuff added to it and a few fixes I put into it.

Rom Reviews Anyone?

I have searched already and haven't found reviews of the new cooked and stock roms out there that we all use and love. If your flash happy like myself you would love to here unbiased reviews of the roms and I don't mean whats in the exisiting threads for each rom that have complaints, rants, and flaming. If anyone else would like to jump on this please let me know or just start reviewing the roms yourselves and the mods will hopefully start a sticky for reviews. Thanks and to all the great chefs keep up the good work.
dutty's roms are quite nice. They've got the basics. You'll probably need to install a few things for personal needs, but not too much.
For example, I always install HTC's Task manager. But he took it out since some people liked the WKTask (eww).
I've tried a few random others, and some pack in too many apps
**Edit for links** http://duttythroy.lives-in.eu/
->Current thread for V4 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=361544
I'd like to be able to stick with a ROM for long enough to be able to do a full review
Agreed, Duttys v4 felt nice but I changed to Q-Mobile because I was having problems with bluetooth on the v4 rom.... After playing around with the Q-Mobile rom I don't actually think that the BT problem was caused by duttys rom.
Q-Mobile is nice and clean but I've had problems installing some stuff, again might not be anything to do with the ROM and it may well be the user and or the cabs at fault
What I'd really like is to try out a WM6.1 rom to see if the new network drivers sort out my wifi problem but Im really unsure as to which is the best, hopefully some people will post their thoughts on 6.1 roms in here.

That sounds fast
Roms depends on user needs Some people like fancy stuff. Like duttys one and some others with dual touch, cube etc.... And some people are professional they want fast, effective. I am in love with sleuth rom. I didnt have to install separate radio, separate java bla blah. Everything working out of the box working fine. Some people have issues like skype and core player. But they are problem with all 6.1 version.
I would of LOVED sleuth's wm 6.1 v3.0 if the audiomanager worked There were a few other small things, such as how to disable threaded sms, without killing the notifications (I didn't really like the threaded smsing, but I got enough smses that if I didn't get a notification it would mean lots of missed smses)
I spent the last 10 hours or so flashing different roms onto my phone, I've went back to Q-mobile 1.2 =/
If you don't mind the threaded sms and don't use audiomanager (I installed mortplayer to compensate) I'd suggest Sleuth's 3.0 6.1 rom.
I've tried just about every rom here and I keep going back to Q-Mobile 1.2.
I love dutty's customizations, but I have to agree that Quentin's are the most polished. I have tried almost all of them and have settled on Quentin's Q-Mobile 1.2 for now (with a lot of my own customizations of course).
Just wait a little bit
All I have to tell you guys is wait and see
Current is Sleuth 3.0 WM6.1
I am using an ATT Tilt version in the US, I have tried many of the current roms (to me some were more well done than I like, Some were not stable or under done) I like 3 roms
WM 6.1 - I like Austinsync's rom and Sleuth 3.0
WM 6.0 - I like Q-Mobile 1.2 (Sorry have not tried any others but the Sleuth version is probably good there too)
Cheers
BR
For now, I'm staying away from the 6.1 roms (I have a feeling that "for now" will change to "right now" once dutty's new one is released) but I've been using dutty's V4 since the day it was released and I love it. It's very fast and has everything you need.

Haze,
I would say give Dutty a couple of days, or a week at the most, and he will release his newest flavor. The beta testers have worked really hard to get a perfect ROM to the community. You will be pleasantly surprised at the result. One thing you should know. Dutty has been building a WM6.1 ROM without a phone much like Schap's does which is quite amazing.
why do they both do it without phones? Did their phones break or are they using other ones? Anyways I like Q-Mobile 1.2 but I received a lot of error messages I didn't get on other roms. Sleuths is good also but a little too clean for my liking. Downloading Dutty v4 now hopefully this is a winner until his 6.1

I have 2 devices, 1 with dutty's WM6.1 and the other is Sleuth 3.0's WM6.1. Both are great in their respected fields. I think dutty's is the most organized of the two. Speed wise Sleuth is ahead but thats also due to a larger page file.

Sleuth 3.0's WM6.1 rocks!
Tried Alex 6.1 but have no luck with no-sound problem.

Waiting for new version of dutty. I hope secret testing policy will help here (?)
I think it would be awesome if Dutty made a clean version of 6.1 along with his regular version. I hate having all kinds of extra programs that I'm never use.

Dutty's default is 24 if i'm not mistaken. dutty's has the best battery life so far. I'll make a better report when i wake up, 2am here and I need to be in the office at 8. Night all

well....what do you think so far??...feedback man!!!
Working great on my Fararaday. GnatGoSplat is the Cooker. He is the one behind this project; [Mar 24, 2008] Boring ROMs 5.2.1629 for AT&T, T-Mobile and now vanilla flavored!
Maybe you can ask him if he would port that build over and make it work with our Wizard
The 19202 I ported to Tornado and StarTrek are WM6.1 Standard. It wouldn't work well on a Wizard because you'd have to use the Dpad for everything, the touchscreen wouldn't work.
I can port any WM6.1, but Wizard should have the Professional version for touchscreen support.
Indeed the latest O2 (MWG) device Zinc II is running based on this build (refer to the pix attached)
just flashed this and also pulled it apart... i'm going to test it for a bit, but this version is basically TNT 19199. splash, customizing screen and version (CE OS 5.2.19202 (Build 191999.1.0.0)TNT) feel is the same too....
we'll see what's up with it, im guessing just a few modules were changed or maybe not even that, but still a good rom just like TNT's. too bad i can't find a real 19202...

I am in Las Vegas attending CTIA Wireless show. MS has officially released WM6.1 today at this event. I checked some phones running 6.1 on MS booth and found the OS version is 5.2.19204 (Build 5.2.19204.1.0.1) on Tilt and 5.2.19524 on a Touch Dual. Kaiser ROM Performance Showdown...

Okay, I am in the middle of testing the performance of several roms, cooked & shipped, & will be posting the results here. I will initially be using SK Tools Bench Mark as I have a lot of respect for SKKV Software & the inovation they have brought to WM utility software. I will also be doing some specific graphics testing with various tools.
After my initial testing, I will ber following up with the other various software bench mark utilities & plan on making this the definitive ROM performance guide.
So far I have Completed initial testing on the following ROM's:
1. Shogunmark Death ROM
2. AT&T wm 6.1 ROM
3. Sleuth V3.0 WM6.1
4. L26 Kaiser Diamond ROM 1
More to follow!
If there is a rom you'd like to see shaken down, let me know!
saved for future use
saved as well
& this should do it for now.
good idea! let me know if I can help.
Good idea!
Howabout Dutty's Rom though???
spb benchmark would also make sense because DDB BitBit performance is an indicator that shows if the ROM makes use of the new "drivers".
I'd like to see the shipped 3.28 wwe rom that i'm currently using compared to the others.

That is true & I plan on SPB being one of the next level tests
As for Dutty rom's, I'll test his soon, I'm waiting on his a bit though as I have a feeling there'll be a new Dutty ROM in the near future. I mean it been like a week, as far as I can see he's behind a dozen or so, but I guess L26 & his 4 in 4 days kinda makes up for it, huh?
Want me to do any bud? Just IM me if you do.
i posted this in the other thread.. but here is from my unreleased Deathv2
TytnII 1735
Tilt 1823
I would be curious to see how the original beta turns out!
in case anyone was wondering i did a test on my hermes running pdaviet rom 5.2.19581 Build 19581.1.1.1 scored a 1235
[5/15][UPDATED] WM6.1 5.2.19213 ROM _ Ryncppr Version _ [UPDATED]
Could you test this ROM please? It claims to be fast and works well. Low amount of bugs for 213.
This thread could be useful in keeping all ROMs fast, and it is a common request of people to know what the "best" ROM is.
