IS tmc possible wit this device since it has an internal FM radio for tools like IGO 2008 or something?
Thnx
It should be possible to write a driver that will extract tmc out of rds and deliver it using opentmc. But since there is no such driver yet, one would have to write it from stretch. That would be a huge work to do.
So it would be good to start a new SF-Project... rds for htc
I don't think the radio is RDS. I know it was advertised as such, but I've used the radio quite a bit already and believe me, I've found no RDS option and nor does it autofrequency a channel. es it autostores, but no it doesn't automatically find alternative frequencies for a tuned radio channel.
Grrrr.

It has not to autofrequency a channel to be rds-able. If you get some informations like radio station name, then it is rds.
Yah. Fair comment. I suppose I was just a little surprised that it doesn't automatically find alternative frequencies; for me, it's one of the most useful functions of RDS, especially when I'm on my motorbike or on the train, etc.
I have the Raphael here in the Netherlands.
The radio application is pretty limited but it does show the RDS text which the radio sends like radio station name, traffic info and current playing songs.
Autofrequency is just one more feature brought you by rds. It sends a flag and than your radio can switch over if signal becomes weak. But the application have to support this. If you buy a real cheap auto radio than you'll miss a lot of this features.
But since TMC is only a common RDS package with an other flag, one should be able to use this.

Ok well Im going to try the radio stack I think on my charcol 850/1800/1900 128mb jam with bigstorage to see if I can improve the ambient in call noise that only my right ear can hear....lol. What I need to know and have not been able to discover via searching is, if it matters what radio stack rom I download and upgrade with? Is there specific versions for those that live in america (like myself) verses Europe. Do they vary from each other in bandwith. If anyone can point me in the right direction I would be greatly appreciative.
I'm not really convinced by the integrated Radio software of my Polaris. I would like to know if somebody know an alternative ?
What I search for is a software that allow me to wrote the name of the station (not only the frequency as into the Polaris). I've also remarked that the Audio Booster have any influence on the Radio. About this, I'm not sure that it is a bug with my Bepe WM 6.1 ROM (if someone can test it with an official HTC ROM, I'll be interested to know if this is a general problem or maybe "normal").
Thanks in advance for your feedback !
Hello my Friend!
Audio Booster doesn't do anything with my original French Rom.
I agree: the lack of station name is unpleasant

I'm not so happy about default HD FM radio software. I use it also into the car and after a while the device turn off leaving the radio on...very ugly
Do you know ho to keep the light off but device on with the FM radio on?
Hey, this is one of feature I am going to write.
I also want to write name for my favorite stations so I started this FM radio project to write my own player.
However I am not sure if Polaris has same FMS API as Raphael etc.
Can you test it on your device please?
You may need device driver (FMS_API.dll and FMS.dll). they can be found from Diamond or raphael forum.
See my signature for downloading xFM Radio player.
Now we are four.
Five... I miss station name too...
Now six from spain!
now 7 from UK!

How about offering some alternative instead of counting ? Every time i see this thread bumped up, i read the posts, hoping someone would post something meaningful. Yet, all i see is "me too" with a count :-( There are way more than 8 ppl want this, take a look at the views count of the thread.
9 from portugal
now 10 from malaysia
Hi,
the fm radio in my Polaris can resolve RDS information from the stations. In this RDS data are traffic data too.
But how can I or my Navigon 6 read this data? Is there any driver or tool to redirect this data to a vitual Com-Port?
No such a program does not exist.
TDO
Yeah, I am also lookig for something of that kind, if you get to know something by chance, please report it here.
"How to get TMC over fm radio"
I hate it when people post threads where the subject ought to be a question but which isn't and therefore actually implies that the OP knows and is about to post the solution.
Hey people,
I've had my touch pro for a few days and im LOVING it!
I installed TomTom and got me some maps, but now I was wondering if I can activate TMC via RDS of the FM Radio.. since HTC has one built-in!
TMC is the traffic radio and gives information about accidents and roadblocks etc.. it would be very useful and FREE!
Have been a big fan of tomtom for more 4 years, I never hear of tomtom and "activate TMC via RDS of the FM Radio" Tomtom does provide plus services (weather, traffic, etc...) but it costs 10$/month; however, they still not allow to run on tomtom 7 yet.
They made TMC devices for TomTom Go, and said it wasnt going to be available for the PDA (they were talking about TT6).
So im not sure.. maybe if some skilled scripter would make a script.. ill mail tomtom to ask fro more info..
If I'm not mistaken, TMC for Tomtom is downloaded via GPRS, not with RDS.

True and by the way for FM radio use you need the headset to be plugged in...
I know the chipset in our phones supports TMC but im not sure you can have both TMC and the radio features available at the same time, if not it would make sense for HTC to enable the fm radio instead as it is a saleable feature of the phone (much more so than TMC for most of their customers)

hi all,
can anybody give me the link of tomtom software and maps that i can download for free???
Thank you...
The cab can be found on the forum - do a search for TTN7 but you will have to pay for maps.
Please don't ask members for free maps unless you want to be banned from the forum.
Hello, I'm new here, and ashamed to say that while I like PDAs and know how to operate my Touch 2, I'm a complete newbie about their most advanced features.
I was looking for a more sophisticated FM radio tuner, as I'm not really satisfied with the one bundled with my ROM. I found Power Radio here on the site, but couldn't really understand if my model is supported or not: I found many pages regarding a possible installation on HTC Mega (but I seem to have issues with GFMAPI), one suggestion to rename the FMSDKWrapper.dll file (which I couldn't find on my PDA), and many other technical pages which I couldn't understand. However, after many wanderings I think that the correct answer is that Power Radio is not for me.
So, up to my question. Do you know any other sound FM radio tuner to substitute the crappy one on my Touch 2? Note, I'm not looking for an internet radio tuner, I don't want to connect to the Net.
Thank you.
