Impossible app! Is it true? - General Questions and Answers

i've seen this video on italian blog...in the attachment there is the app but i can' t try it..i ve wm6....is it true??
http://www.wmfans.net/?p=40

It's not true. It's a video and the phone holder just has the timing down. There was another video like this with the X-ray and also had a coca-cola video that tipped like a glass as if you could drink from your phone

you must be kidding that you believed it for a second. it is just recorded. to do that, YOU NEED AN X-RAY MACHINE.

are you sure it is a video? there is an installer app

I didnt even both to watch the video.
But I can tell you that if you remove the IR filter from any webcam / camera you can see through some opaque or dark items. This includes a bottle of coca-cola, and even some clothes. (SONY had to recall a lot of cam corders because the night mode allowed you to see through white shirts in the day time, ie. girls shirts.)
There are a ton of tutorial videos online how to remove these filters. The last one I watched was on Hak.5

It is a definte FAKE. The guys' bone structure and adipose tissues does not match the Xray screen viewer. Definitely FAKE.

Maybe you don't include that camera isn't located in the center of screen. But I haven't tested it, I don't know is it real.

Capellone85, where the heck sei andato a pescarla, questa?

IT Fake
Its Fake Some People Actualy Fall IT its a swf flash file haha.

the timing on the movement is out and the bone structure as mentioned was way off
It is probably a video file being played.. i have seen another one pretty well done with a little girl.. almost had be thinking it could be real but then my common sense kicked in

I have one a bit like that on my PDA. Not quite as sophisticated but still impresses people for about half a second till they figure it out.
Got it from here: http://freewareppc.com/misc/xray.shtml
edit: just noticed that post #7 has the actual one from the video

here is a whole bunch of such apps
http://www.youtube.com/mobiletricks

thx so much for answer

I have used this one a long before, its just a video that runs, & u have to adjust the movement like wise.

The drink ones work on some devices like the HTC diamond, iphone, n95 and many others due to the the built in Accelerometer.
The xray as stated above is a flash vid but looks good if you time it right.
had my daughter believing my touch was an uber fone for weeks with that xray

Look at the guys left hand. It looks like he has this mapped to the button his thumb is on. Right before it moves, it looks like there's more stress as if he's pushing the button

Does any have Viewing angle problems with Orbit 2??

Hi I would like to ask all of you orbit 2 users out there.
I own one and its giving me a great headache because of the screen. I mean it physically. Cause of the screen.
I use the screen under normal room lighting so no bright sunlight or anything but when i try to watch movies or take photos in landscape mode I would notice a very bad discolored view when I am watching anything in landscape mode.
Also when in potrait mode, the discolored view will occur when I look at it from a slight top-down angle. I hate that . Is this suppose to be normal for all the other orbit 2 or am I just the "luck" one ?
REally need to sort this out, love this phone but this problem is giving me loads of headache. Practically killing me slowly,, any advice or help would be greatly appreciated?
Thank you.
PS. I have just passed the 28 days exchange period , so no hope of getting it exchanged. Hope I can get it fixed from o2 but I read somewhere that there is no replacement screen out in the market yet.
Sorry buddy, I don't have any of the problems you're talking about.
I know a lot of people complain that their phone is giving us headaches with no drivers but not literally. Your phone should not be giving you physical headaches.
Also watching a movie on that screen can't be too good. In my opinion it's too small to concentrate on for long periods of time. I have never watched anything on there for more than 10 minutes.
Hi thanks for the reply,
I see you own a HTC Touch Cruise. I have a slightly different model although I know they are the same.
But the screen is different for orbit 2. I have know touch cruise to have not known such problems. But seriously dude, this screen of orbit 2 is way too different for proper viewing. I am not someone who asks alot or have high expectation out of my phone. But if you have seen it it would be unacceptable by any standards.
Also i have compared a touch cruise with mine orbit 2. The differences is unbelieveable.
Thanks for the reply.
Regards,
leynos
I raised this issue when I first got my Orbit 2 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=367550
I've read somewhere that the Orbit 2 and TC use different screens with the Orbit having crappy viewing angles

Thanks for your comment.
I see now that my worse fear is coming true. Guess until I see more response, I will still try to hope that is only a few isolated cases that the orbit 2 has a viewing angle problem.
Hopefully more orbit 2 users will give me their feedback.
Will keep my finger crossed until then.
Really love this phone. First phone I really grown into it. Dun do this to me.

I have found the same problem in certain situations... but If I view with the wheel to the left the screen is fine... Viewing angle is like an old-aged TFT but still... it's clear and viewable straight on.
with the wheel to right (Camera default due to button position) the screen puts a lot of strain on my eyes with or without glasses... just seems like it's blurred but it's not...
For vids.... use CorePlayer... default full screen seems to be with the wheel to the left.
And thankfully my fav game Worms is a wheel to left game.

Hi phil,
thanks so much for sharing with me. I understand this pain you face with orbit 2. Movies or surfing the net or even taking pictures kills u. Did you do anything about it? complain to o2 or send it back to them for repairs ?
cause I am close to sending it back. I just cant bear to be without a orbit 2 for weeks. As you know repairs takes weeks or even months. So I will send it only as my last option.
Also is there a free coreplayer I can download from somewhere to try out whether it works on my phone before I buy it ? I cant find it anywhere and everyone been saying good things about them. Saying they fix the video issue we have caused by HTC whom didnt provide the proper driver for us.
Thanks,

Hi,
I noticed the same problem the very 1st time I used my Orbit2 in landscape. In portrait mode, if you watch the screen as you move your viewing angle up and down you can really see haw much this screen varies. So when you view in landscape, with each eye seeing the same part of the screen differently it gets really uncomfortable and hard to focus on.
In portrait the screen is ok (much better than my old MDA compact) but in landscape its worse!

No, I've kept mine... apparently it takes a while on the repairs turn around so I try for over-phone fixes... But I doubt there will be a fix for the dodgy LCD unit in these...

TCMCP or something named to that effect... What CorePlayer apparently derived from. Although the codec support is better that built in media players it really makes no difference to playback.
CorePlayer does however playback 320x240 Xvid and Divx AVI with mp3 audio at 400kbps bitrate and 15fps fine (hence my MSDHC is now full of Family Guy)
CorePlayer is worth paying for... I demo'd it via a torrent download first as I couldn't find an actual demo/trial and was sceptical but have since purchased a licence/key meaning all is legal
And I don't recommend or condone any illegal downloads! even if for a short period that was hypocritical .

Guess I will have to wait until there is sort of a third party upgrade LCD unit available for orbit 2.

Cool , sound pretty powerful with it. But still the orbit 2 is not good for watching videos with their lousy LCD.
Just tot of this question below,
Any suggestion where I can sell it off and get a touch cruise from ? except on ebay.. sorry dun like using them.
I agree with you in paying for it. CAuse I do some programming work here and there. I understande the pain of your work being pirated.
Thanks for the info, guess I will have to source out coreplayer and give it a go. And see if it works well.

INCREDIBLE Raphael Camera Discovery

Hi Guys
I was testing out the camera on my Fuze last night in complete darkness in my room. So i put the flash on, and started snapping some pictures. What I started to notice was that there was this halo on the right side of the screen. I quickly figured out that this was from the LED light hitting the back casing and bouncing back into the camera lens! I removed the back of the Fuze, and snapped another picture. The differences are AMAZING! THe following pictures have the exact same settings and everything, one was just taken with the back on and with without the back on.
Check it out!
With Back On = http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a60/votum3/IMAG0022.jpg
Without Back On = http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a60/votum3/IMAG0020.jpg
I guess my pictures dont have this halo as stated here http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a60/votum3/IMAG0022.jpg
or at least not that strong
NExt problem is how to solve that without removing back casing? Maybe impossible ;(
Nice find! THanks
Thanks. The only thing that I was considering was some type of jacket that goes around the flash that plugs the space between the back casing and the flash. But I'm not exatly sure how I could do that...
You can modify your case by putting a dark piece of material in the case to separate the light form the camera lens.
Yea I was thinking maybe some of that black foam type stuff with the adhesive on the back thats often used on electronics would work great.
maybe it is a ORB..

Yea after I took the picture my camera was actually taken by a spirit and thrown across the room. I tried to get it back but to no avail...
whats needed is to make the hole that little bit bigger
In my opinon HTC should leave the camera out from these business models, lower the price and make them smaller in size or something...
id rather they make them actually usable like some nokia or sony models myself. i love not having to carry around a separate camera as long as the phone camera is up to snuff.
A small square of felt between them ought to do the trick.....
dont have that problem
leaving out the camera is like limiting the device of what it can REALLY do. true, many business's state no camera phones on site, simple solution find another job.. j/k have two devices one w/wo camera..

Yesterday I had send a document to a coworker, and I used my Pro to take a picture.
Last month I had to e-mail a bank receipt while on the go, guess what I did?
So yes, the camera is important for business use, and I would never buy a phone without it.

exactly - so much easier than writing stuff down
I'm a service tech....and use the camera to snap pictures of goofy stuff I see
on machines, and sometimes mail them to the tech support center. I've always
been told a picture is like 1000 words...
last week I caught my spouse cheating on me finally and took pictures with my diamond pro... so yes, it is good for business, especially when you can give it to your attoryney for grounds of divorce..

HTC FUZE - Invisible Shield Install - Video - By Me :)

Hello all!
I recently got the Invisible shield for my HTC FUZE so I thought I would install it and post up the video of the install, I did this as somewhat of an instructional video and tried to be as informative and professional about the install as possible. If anyone has any questions regarding the Invisible Shield or if you are thinking about purchasing one, please check my video out!
There was another one on YouTube, but I didn't like the way the person went about installing their fuze shield, just because it didn't seem like their phone was very clean to start with etc etc... anywho, I mention in the video that I am a bit of a perfectionist, so this is about the cleanest install I think you could get (hope so at least).
Please post your comment and questions!

Can't wait for the rest! You're providing invaluable information to me. I decided to get the FULL BODY for my Fuze this time too AND I just got mine in too! I had a Verizon XV6800 before and I went through about 10 different screen protectors until I got the Zagg. Not a scratch on my screen or protector after 5 months or so of use in my pocket with keys, etc. So, that sold me on the whole body cover.
Please hurry up with the rest of your video. Looking in my package I see tons of little pieces after the screen is on. Where do they all go? Your video is invaluable and should be picked up by Zagg. I would hope that they would at least extend to you products for life.
Nice job!

Also can't wait to see the rest and your review after a few days use of it! Just ordered mine right now with next day shipping. Going to get a new fuze and right out of the box before even turning the phone on im gonna install this puppy right now there and let it sit for about 12-14hrs. Was looking for something just like this.
Very good job. This shielding procedure is too hard because our hands are shaking

Very sorry for the delay on posting the videos! I will get the rest up this evening! I just started college classes!
So far I really like the cover, it has a bit of a different feel in comparison to previous covers i have used, especially on the screen.
Pros:
Obvious 0 scratches to phone AT ALL, basically impossible.
Increased friction coefficient so phone doesn't slip from hands etc(also check cons)
No worries at all to just throw phone in pocket, even if I have change or keys in there! (not recommended, but a good example of the great protection)
Cons:
A few very VERY small micro bubbles on the screen haven't quite made their way out yet, they seem to be getting smaller as each day passes. Hopefully they will make their way out.
Sometimes the battery cover will actually slip off coming out of my pocket, due to the high friction covering (this is not a big issue, but I have noticed it and it has happened more than once, maybe my pockets are just to tight ;-) )
Video review shall come soon and I will post the other videos ASAP!
Thx

Excellent video. I just got my IS for FUZE, and started to apply as per the video. It was very tough to apply the back corner near the camera, it does not stay. At last it worked and looks very good, I still did not complete it and will complete the rest when the other parts of the video are posted. Thanks for this very nice video.

Well if its anyting like tinting a car window then i say the micro bubbles should completely dissapear in a few days time. After i got my windows limo tinted on my car the next day there was a ton of micro bubbles all over! I called the company giving them an ear full not knowing any better. A few days went by and every single micro bubble went away, zero bubbles on my window tint. Maybe it just needs a day or two?

Haha, i know what u feel bro. Not gonna touch mine until i watch this entire series several times probably. Im a huge perfectionist just like the author here so my install will probably take 30 minutes too! Haha.
I've got Part 4 on its way uploading (slow connection here at my apt GRR), and Part 5 is encoding! So sorry for the delay!
Looks like part 4 is done!!!
Part 4: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_0Q4kbDk0Js
The Micro Bubbles do seem to get smaller and smaller each day!
If i could recommend anything from my install, I would say use enough/plenty of the spray on the bigger parts as the little parts don't need much at all! If I had used a bit more spray my covers may have gone on even easier! Just take care if more spray is used, as the cover will move until it has time to dry!
Thanks alot for the support and I appreciate that my videos are helping!
Thanks so much

Great work, can't wait to try it out!
I have had great confidence in the build of the HTC products since I've never used a protector on my Wizard. It's beat up, missing paint and plastic, never kept anywhere but my pocket, and seems to have only gotten better with age. No duct tape yet but I know it will happen eventually!
My fear is that the shiney new Raph will get scratched up right off the bat and look like junk in a week. Plus, who knows how sensitive the hardware of the device will be...
Does the protector reduce the Fuze's tendency to be a fingerprint magnet? Seems like it definitely would.
Thanks KewlJ!

Flash light on I9000

Hi,
first of all my search function isn t working! So sorry if this question has already been answered.
but are we able to get a flash light on the phone, maybe by just clipping it on, on the back and put a on/off button on the backcover?
Thanks in advance

But for iphone only.
the SGS doesn't need a flash for pictures at night time, just take the picture using the NIGHT mode of the camera
there are many samples in this forum, search for it
if you really want a good flash, get this instead

I am going to have to respectfully disagree with you on that point. Night mode is not a replacement for having flash.

Flash has limited range. It cant take pictures of outdoor scenes at all. It wont make any difference. This is when sensor sensitivity trumps flash.
I would really have loved it if they included an LED flash, im pretty sure it wont increase the thickness, its quite useful as a torch

Neither flash nor night mode are a replacement for having real light though. Flash does have it's uses, and so does Night mode. Flash does have some problems though at night and can lead to some of the worst pictures ever taken (someone took one in me in the night using a flash at night, and it seriously looked like I had crawled out of a petri dish earlier that morning. With Night mode though, getting sharp pictures can be painful (and it only works well in lessor light situations, unless you have a tripod).
That being said, I too would like to see cases released with a light integrated. Yes, I do have an LED torch already, but having something integrated with the phone would allow less messing around.
I want an LED on a sticker.
I mean, they make some pretty darn bright little party lights on pins & T-shirts, why not a whilte one that just lines up the button battery on one end, the switch to push in the middle, and the LED bulb on the other end, cover most or all of the parts in silicone with some adhesive on the flat side. Stick on some velcro and all that would have to be done is removal before it gets stuck to the phone to the vecro patch half of us have in our cars. No, I can't find one. I've looked. I'm thinking about hacking up a light-up Led Zeppelin shirt, or more likely heading for Radio Shack and sticking the button battery contacts between the bulb contacts, taping it, and just sqeezing the thing when I want light.
Seriously, this absence of light is a bit ridiculous. It's so cheap, and they're charging us how much for molded plastic plus this? That and flashlights are all we get for choices?
I do love the light sensitivity of this camera, though. It might just work with a single bulb for those impossible times. It' sure doesn't need an explosion of light. It's the best I've ever had on a phone by a million times.
Edit: found this at DealExreme. Yet again for iPhone. I think I'll watch for this in micro USB.
Here's the sticky, except it points the wrong way.
Here's one I almost got excited about. Sold out.
Yep, shopping for i9000 accessories. This is how it is.

I did some very weird reading in DIY flashlight forums. Learned some stuff. The $12 Proton Freedom keyring has a dimmer on it, and people swear by it. I have too much to keep track of; I have three copies of keys that I use, and two copies stashed for JIC. Too pricey.
So I settled for trying this, which has a nice flat back on the clip for sticking a magnet to, or adhering somewhere like your monitor; and this, but they only come is sets of 10 (most of which will be in stockings on Christmas eve/morning, about this time).

Yo Janis,
Have you seen this?
http://www.globalsources.com/manufacturers/LED-Sticker.html
which one specifically?, you got too many listed.
most of those are for close range, it wont work for photos
Yeah night mode is really not that great, a lot of pictures are unusable depending on the circumstances.

that one is a sticker, it's not LED
LOL
and the one that is really a LED it uses 3 x AAA batteries, way to huge
i still prefer my solution better
You had me goin there for a minute! I think maybe that site did, too, when I was really shopping, but I looked at so much crap, staying up way too late, I don't remember. (unsturctured time without distraction for a mom is time well spent)
I think in order to provide decent brightness and useable battery life, they all have to be pretty bulky. I got key chain ones that don't stay on unless you sacrifice a fingernail that are reputed to be bright, unblemished and diffuse (the bulb rating actually doesn't tell the wole story, i guess), and if I really wanted to hot-glue it to my phone I suppose I could.
I really just want something for those relatively close up "Mom! Lookit this!" moments that I might otherwise miss. Most of my photos suck, anyway, so art photo (OK, non-silly photos) I leave up to the rest of the fam. I need practice finding shots with decent light, anyway, this'll definitely up my game a notch. IMHO, deciding what you want to do with the flash is probably more important than whether it comes integrated in a case or not.
I'm eager to see what comes of this iPhone no-flash standard. I hope it goes away as battery tech gets better, but in the mean time, it'll be interesting to watch.
And if you haven't checked out DealExtreme.... I had over $200 in my cart before I decided to weed. I haven't girl-shopped like that for ten years (divergent). I'm hooked!
just my thoughs for a flash on a phone...
Even with a canon 7D you will get terrible shots with a built-in flash. Its just not about the hardware but more about optics. To get a decent image you first need to move the flash away from the camera or at least point it into the ceiling or a white wall. Else it will look plain ugly no matter what. Every photographer knows this.
A xenon-flash on the phone will light up the close perimeter but will not create a good image. A led-light will be totaly useless, sure it might light up the object but colors, shadows and over all image quality will be terrible.
A fast sensor (high iso) will create noisy images. Even the 7d makes some noice, still this is a middle-end dedicated slr-camera. Dont expect a micro-small phone-sensor to produce anything good.
So... to make a decent photo with a phone: have good lightning conditions = outdoor, close to a window (preferably north side) or use a (or maybe even three) secondary light source (like a lamp).
An inbuilt flash/led on a camera can at best produce "working" images. Meaning you can actually see whats been photoed. For documentation. But for good photography forget about this.
I still miss a led on the sgs, but i would like it to be pointing strait up so i can use it as a flashlight. But the screen is rather bright anyway...
this was explained many many times, but some people still don't quite get it.
I'll suggest hobby photography lessons, then they will see the real difference.
a flash or LED on a phone, is mostly just used as a flash light
it has no real life effective value as a flash for a picture session.

In the t-mobile vibrant section, someone pointed to an iphone case that had a built in led flash, lol.
I currently have SE W550i which has LED Flash. I have never paid attention to the flash while clicking photos with it but i EXTENSIVELY use it as a torch at various times and it is really helpful.
So Since now I plan to buy Galaxy S no flash is huge disappointment for me. Not because of pictures but I cant use the flash as a torch because there isnt any. I fail to understand why such an expensive phone doesnt have such a basic feature like this. Well thats another matter if you want to use such an expensive phone as a torch(!) but it still works damn good if it has one and sadly Galaxy S doesnt have any!
I wonder if these lights will work with 2 cr2032 batteries. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trksid=p4340.m748&item=380261264719&viewitem=&_trkparms=clkid%3D6208795471328440285

Video stabilisation weirdness

Has anybody else noticed the weird behavior of the optical stabilization?
For example you can check it here at approx 0:23 to .... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WX391Y-_TtA
I tried to record video while driving and the N5 was in a holder mounted on the dashboard. Well that didn't work out at all. My image looked 'waved'
I'd rather have it turned off but probably that is not possible.
That looks like it keeps focusing over and over. And if you record video in a car on a mount like I do. You can't have music on, it makes the ois freak out with vibration.

You are not alone. Mine is exactly the same. I don't have a sample but when my car is moving the video is wobbly and distorted. It is just horrible. I have not been able to do anything about it.
I have tried different apps, but I do prefer AutoGuard. I've tried different mounts, different focus settings, I've tried making sure that the dash is not in view of the lens, I've tried different resolutions, everything I can think of.
I think it is a combination of the auto-focus and video stabilization via sensors.
I have actually decided to not use this phone for gps & black box because of how distorted the video is.
It's really too bad because it is a great device.

Yup, same thing here. I own a multitude of Android phones and none is like this.
We would blame the auto-focus and the stabilization, but the weird thing is that it looks some kind of foil is moving in a wave form, like you when you touch perfectly standing still water. so it is not the complete image that goes wobbly but only part of it. At first when I recorded in the street it looked like one of those 'your video looks .... shall we stabilize it' on youtube. If you then check how some moving parts look like, well leave the image like it is.
I will try to record from my car one of these days and post it here. Find it really strange that everyone raves about this optical stabilization and only a couple see this seriously bad things happening.
What it reminds me of, keep in mind I'm almost 40, is playing with the tracking on a vcr.
I took some video while walking and it is actually really good compared to some other devices but I don't think the powers that be tested it while the device was moving at the rate of speed we're trying.
The only suggestion that I can think of that I haven't tried is either disabling or reducing the sensitivity of the motion sensors. I'm not even sure how that would be accomplished, kernel or platform.

Haha, older than you. 43.
Well I did record video on the way home. This is quality wise bad but it shows perfectly what I (and you) mean.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7grCi0lpPw&feature=youtu.be
I can assure my dashboard is rigid and the road, well a solid road.
Lol while copy/pasting I read this on the file I just uploaded 'We hebben vastgesteld dat je video mogelijk schokkerig is. Wil je dat we de video stabiliseren?' which ... means we've noticed the video is shaky do you want to stabilize the video.
Just plain bad and unacceptable
Let's hope it's on Google's to-do list.
