HELP: Restoring Sprite Backup after ROM upgrade - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Windows Mobile ROM De

Hello,
i have a great problem . First i made a backup with Sprite BAckup and my kaiser had:
ROM: 1.56.412.4
Radio: 1.27.12.11
Then I did an ROM upgrade to:
ROM: 3.29.00.00
Radio: 1.65.17.56
Protocol: 25.83.40.02H
That was ok, and then y restore the Sprite backup, but i think it changed the OS registry or another item, but when it power off and now i try to power on the kaiser it doesn't work, i view only the HTC symbol, but no the windows mobile 6.1 logo.
It' doesn't connect by Active Sync and i can't do anything with it.
Could anybody help me, please??????
Regards
Jorge

Sprite backups can only be restored to the same ROM. The easiest thing for you to do is a HARD RESET, which will reset the current ROM to all defaults and you should be able to boot back into the device. You just have to make whatever changes you had in your old ROM on the new ROM.
Again, do no attempt to restore the backup. If you want to restore the backup, you need to re-flash the old ROM and restore.

Thanks,
i have done the HARD RESET and installed the new ROM again and it's ok.

Not entirely true. The newer Sprite backup (not the oem one that comes with the tilt) allows for 3 or 4 levels of restoration...including one level that is made specifically for cross rom upgrades (ie from L26's v9 to garmin 1.2) and another for upgrades with the same rom type (ie upgrading from garmin 1.1 to garmin 1.2). I dont think that this was present in the older version.

I goto the same problem just a week ago....
and i also tried migration facility ( offered thru Sprite 6.22 Version ) But bottom line is - you have to install everything again after reflashing the new RUU... All you can recover safely is your PIM data... thats all

Once again, not entirely true, it depends on where software makes its changes. I have plenty of apps that get restored (most with serials still intact) after using sprite 6.2.2

Help! Downgrading for old update, or other solution?

Hi,
I have a (X-) backup from a MDAc which had these versions of
Radio 1.00.10
Protokoll 1337.36
ROM 1.01.01Ger
Now I have another MDAc with these versions:
1.12.00
1337.42
1.13.01Ger
When I install the backup, everything is there, except that the touchscreen does not respond anymore. All buttons work fine, thou!!
I can start the telephone, jump to my contacts, notes, everything. But without the touchscreen the PDA is not really what I need...
I tried older versions, like 1.05.xx, which I found on the net. But the problem still persists. I have no clue what the reason might be.
I was thinking about installing the 1.01.01-ROM-file, which I found on this site, but still hesitate, I never did something like this before, and I am really not sure what to do with this German.nb1 file. It is not recognized by MaUpdateut.exe or MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe.
Truly yours!! EA
You probably use sprite backup/restore software. Use "update" option before restore. (Sprire backup/restore options).

WM6 how to customize menu? Remove some network customization?

Hi,
I've successfully installed WM6 on my Cingular 8125. I installed the Crossbow version. Great stuff.
What wonder me is, some of my network stuff is still there in the menu (GetGood, ClearView PDF reader, etc) even though the apps are not there anymore. Try to dig the forum but can't find the way to remove them...
Any tip on removing those? My phone is Cingular but I'm on T-Mobile network now.
Thanks,
um.. which rom did u install there is about 10 wm6 roms now..

You don't have to be so explicit
I agree! My psychic advisor Miss Cleo got busted so's I have no way of knowing your device info ie IPL/SPL, GSM, OS ... catch my drift?
Everytime I've seen this happen it's been that the device isn't CID unlocked... everytime.
ah... pardon NOOB!
OS 5.2.318 (Build 15341.4.0.01)
ROM version: 2.18.0.0 WWE
ROM date: 2/14/06
Radio Version: 02.61.11
Protocol Version: 4.1.13.28
ExtROM version: 2.25.11.102
IPL/SPL: 2.25.0001
All downloaded and followed instruction in this thread;

Any recommendation? More info needed?
anyone?????
No way to get rid of Cingular bloatware??
OK, First I would redo everything (unlocking, etc) as per DrPuttingham above. If you really successfully flashed a custom rom, its unlikely the extended rom would have the Cingular stuff still there. If you are stubborn, and just want to get rid of the Cingular stuff, do a hard reset, and when you get the message saying 3 seconds to customize, do a soft reset before it starts (put the stylus in the reset hole). Then the extended rom will not load.
Good luck,
Re: Extended rom
OK, I want to amend what I said above. I checked my extended rom today and found that indeed the X-plore rom flash had *not* wiped the previous (T-Mobile 3.3 German) extended rom. So, I apologize. It appears to be at least more common than I thought. I have now gone back and done a hard-reset and soft-reset to remove the customizations from the T-Mobile 3.3 rom (which I actually hadn't noticed).
Thanks for teaching me about this. I'll be more careful in my own flashing from now on!

Does my tilt have the default rom and radio?

I bought a tilt off of ebay and I would like to know if it has the original rom and radio from att. When I click on About from Settings/System I get the following, CE OS 5.2.1620 (Build 18125.0.4.2). When I got to Device Information it says under Version ROM version: 1.57.502.2, ROM date: 08/25/07, Radio version: 1.27.12.11, Protocol version: 22.45.88.07H. Any help would be appreciated.
The reason I am asking is that I am having an issue with seeing any programs in Remove Programs. The more frusteration issues is that because of this I cant install or uninstall any of the loaded programs on it. When I got the phone there were no issues, and then all of a sudden one day vola. If this is all default, can I hard reset my phone and then try a restore from my sprite backups? I have already tried a restore with older backups and the problem is still there.

Yes if you already have a backup on you pc you should be able to hard reset. Also after you hard reset and if you don't want all the extra apps on it, you should reset the phone when its going through the customization process. pretty much after you go through the screen alignment, date, password etc. Right after this do a reset and you want have all the AT&T boat load of software. Then you can install what you want.

No Data Connection

Help -- I have had to revert to my Wizard (O2 XDA Mini S G3 version) due to smashing the screen on my XDA Orbit.
I was running the official o2 wm5 ROM. However decided to flash one from this site. I followed all instrcutions and upgraede to IPL/SPL3.08, I used the official T-Mobile WM5 as a base and then flashed the WM6 Titanium v2 rom.
I have had no issues flashing - no error messages etc but the problem that i do have is that there is no data connection and no MMS set up. Is this a feature of the Titanium ROm or have I done somethignn wrong?
i think i have some of ur problems.on a g4 wizard, after flashin wm6v5 rom i can not connect to wap neither with ie or opera. i can connect with yahoo mobile program. weird stuff
before, i had a standard orange spv m3000 rom and it worked. so its a rom problem i guess
I managed to get this sorted - by creating a new connnection - works perfctly now

How to restore to original rom

Hi all,
I have been playing with some custom roms and radio's and I would like to restore the device to an original state.
(Reason is that I have problems with activesync over USB now)
I know I made a mistake with not making a dump of the original roms but is there still a way to restore the device?
My polaris seems to be a Rev B, originally in French, no special fw from a provider.
The rom I found on the list here does not seem to work, it installs fine but the radio ain't working, no Gsm, GPRS or GPS.
What would you recommend to restore it, OS + Radio?
Thanks in advance for your help
I strongly suggest you Murata ROM and Murata radio ROM.
This is original rom from Touch Cruise-Murata edition.
You can find this package here. You have radio and ROM in one package.
