Help! Downgrading for old update, or other solution? - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 Software Upgrading

Hi,
I have a (X-) backup from a MDAc which had these versions of
Radio 1.00.10
Protokoll 1337.36
ROM 1.01.01Ger
Now I have another MDAc with these versions:
1.12.00
1337.42
1.13.01Ger
When I install the backup, everything is there, except that the touchscreen does not respond anymore. All buttons work fine, thou!!
I can start the telephone, jump to my contacts, notes, everything. But without the touchscreen the PDA is not really what I need...
I tried older versions, like 1.05.xx, which I found on the net. But the problem still persists. I have no clue what the reason might be.
I was thinking about installing the 1.01.01-ROM-file, which I found on this site, but still hesitate, I never did something like this before, and I am really not sure what to do with this German.nb1 file. It is not recognized by MaUpdateut.exe or MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe.
Truly yours!! EA

You probably use sprite backup/restore software. Use "update" option before restore. (Sprire backup/restore options).

Wifi Problems

Hi,
I have a prohpet which originally had the following firmwares etc:
IPL: 2.10
SPL: 2.10.0000
GSM: 02.07.20
OS: 2.10.7.27 NOR (Norwegian)
After following the instructions on how to first downgrade to wm5 (NoVendorId) and then upgrade to wm6 (I use pdaviet 4.0.0.4) my wifi stopped working. Nothing comes up in the list. Yes, I did do a hard reset, and yes I can access the wlan from my other phone. It didn't even work in the wm5 novendor version. Everything else seems to be working fine. Does anyone know what the problem can be? I even installed WifiFofum (http://www.aspecto-software.com/rw/applications/wififofum/) but that did not work either.
I would appreciate any help...
The new firmware etc is now:
IPL: 2.10
SPL: 2.20.0000
GSM: 2.61.21
OS: 4.0.0.4 PDAViet
when i was on PDAViet 4.0.0.0.4,i noticed that WiFi didn't turn on when i pressed the comm manager button... Instead,it turned 1-2 minutes later by itself.... So i went back to PDAViet 4.0.0.0.3a...
Will try...
OK, I will try to flash it with 4.0.0.3a later today.
BTW, how did you notice that wifi did not get turned on?
/Espen
Still not working...
I downgraded to 4.0.0.3a, and wlan is still not working. Any suggestions are welcome.
Still not working...
I think I have tried every possible rom now, and still no go on getting wlan/wifi to work. It just wont search or find any networks. If someone has the same problem or a solution, please let me know.
one solution could be to upgrade to radio 2.69 ¿?. well. you can try, at least this upgrade isn't so "destructive" as the ones you used previously
I tried that, and didn't work. Atlast I tried the AKU rom, and it bricked my rom. Now when it starts the radio does not show, and the os wont start. Tried to flash back with no luck.

Obviously, you have a phone got bad WiFi hardware if you said you couldn't get it working under WM5.
Look at it this way, these WM6 ROMs have come a long way. They still get bugs here and there, but if you still get one consistance WiFi problem, most likely is not the ROM causing it. You are hitting your head against a brick wall.

Tilt won't dial after flashing, please help

I've successfully cooking a few Kaiser ROM's, thanks to Alex's tutorial, kitchen, and other folk's programs. The cook ROM works.
After flashing with my last cook ROM, everything work except I cannot access to the phone dial pad and the signal icon has a exclamation mark means no service. I know something must screw up somewhere in the registry.
I had one time tried to restore a backup file from another version of ROM, the PDA portion worked fine but the Radio died. But I just hard-reset it and reinstall softwares from scratch, that was fine.
So somewhere in the registry or software conflict must have caused this problem.
Wonder if anyone came across the same problem (no phone) and has a simple way to fix it ?
Thanks!

HELP: Restoring Sprite Backup after ROM upgrade

Hello,
i have a great problem . First i made a backup with Sprite BAckup and my kaiser had:
ROM: 1.56.412.4
Radio: 1.27.12.11
Then I did an ROM upgrade to:
ROM: 3.29.00.00
Radio: 1.65.17.56
Protocol: 25.83.40.02H
That was ok, and then y restore the Sprite backup, but i think it changed the OS registry or another item, but when it power off and now i try to power on the kaiser it doesn't work, i view only the HTC symbol, but no the windows mobile 6.1 logo.
It' doesn't connect by Active Sync and i can't do anything with it.
Could anybody help me, please??????
Regards
Jorge

Sprite backups can only be restored to the same ROM. The easiest thing for you to do is a HARD RESET, which will reset the current ROM to all defaults and you should be able to boot back into the device. You just have to make whatever changes you had in your old ROM on the new ROM.
Again, do no attempt to restore the backup. If you want to restore the backup, you need to re-flash the old ROM and restore.
Thanks,
i have done the HARD RESET and installed the new ROM again and it's ok.

Not entirely true. The newer Sprite backup (not the oem one that comes with the tilt) allows for 3 or 4 levels of restoration...including one level that is made specifically for cross rom upgrades (ie from L26's v9 to garmin 1.2) and another for upgrades with the same rom type (ie upgrading from garmin 1.1 to garmin 1.2). I dont think that this was present in the older version.

I goto the same problem just a week ago....
and i also tried migration facility ( offered thru Sprite 6.22 Version ) But bottom line is - you have to install everything again after reflashing the new RUU... All you can recover safely is your PIM data... thats all
Once again, not entirely true, it depends on where software makes its changes. I have plenty of apps that get restored (most with serials still intact) after using sprite 6.2.2

is it radio issue?

Hi guys, my raphael was working good when stoped working the EDGE radio, it connects right on the anthem, but doesnt get signal, loosing the information with the connection timeout reason.
I think it is my radio, I have never messed with raphael HardSPL, just installed the rom 5.05.401.1 WWE official HTC rom disponible on the official HTC WEBSITE, only clicking on the file.
And I updated my radio too, installing the 1.11.25.01 version, official to the fuze, it was working so good, suddenly it broken the signal and have already passed 5 days.
I was thinking about re-installing the radio, seems that when I installed the 1.11.25.01 Radio version I didnt need to loose all my installed programs, data etc, only updating the rom, not loosing information as in the ROM installation.
I would like to re-install this rom version, or the last and best rom version with loose my data, I didnt remember the procedure, if I needed to instal the HardSPL or no, but by my remembering, only executed the .exe files on the desktop
help please!
i was needing this help so much, please help me guys, i tested my chip on another mobile and worked the edge
Be sure to flash Hard SPL before you do anything!!!!!
After you do that, you can go ahead and flash.
If I were you, I'd flash a different radio to see if it works better, I recommend .28, .32, and the .19 test.
If that doesn't work then let us know.

I cannot say if your radio is the problem. If you're installing an official HTC or provider ROM, you do not need HardSPL. If you want to install a cooked one here off XDA, you do. This great guide will help you flash a cooked ROM and/or radio: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=448008
You're right, if you flash a radio, then you will not lose anything in your Storage Memory. If you flash a ROM, you will, so be sure to back up your PIM. PPCPimBackup does a great job for that, you can find it at d0ugie's site: http://blownfuze.org/ Your contacts and calendar should come back right away after the restore, but the messages take a while to rebuild, so don't touch it for at least 15 mins after the reboot.
I was trying to flash the HardSPL, and it goes to an ERROR
Trying to flash a Radio goes to an ERROR too, my raphael is only accepting the official's HTC ROM, when flashing anything it cracks on 0%
wtf?

By default, you cannot flash anything but an HTC or provider ROM; you cannot flash radios either. You have to flash HardSPL before you flash a custom ROM or a radio.
Have you tried running SSPLManual.exe as outlined in the guide above, step 2 note 2?

How can the ROM version suddenly change?

Hi All,
Just a quick question.
I noticed today that my ROM and Manila version under Settings have reverted back to 1.66 despite the fact that ROM version under on the o2 boot screen is still 1.72.
How can this happen? Is it something to do with restoring a backup?
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: Sorry Mods, I thought I was back in the HD2 General thread. Please move it.
what did you use to restore a backup it could have saved some registry bits and changed them in the phone,
Im sure you restored a full backup after changing the ROM Dont do this !!! Seriously you get many problems with that. Just restore your contacts, messages etc. and install everything clean again...
possibly, my bad....

I changed my ROM ages ago and checked the version under Settings straight afterwards and it was fine Im sure ( I think LOL). I need do a restore today after the HTC Messaging Client 2015 update didnt work and just happened to notice the inconsistency.
Anyway I reckon the ROM version displayed in settings is simply reading from a registry setting (I found the wrong manila version number in the registry also) , as the boot screen displays the correct version.
PS. I use SPBbackup in ROM upgrade mode when moving to a new ROM and and this is the first time I have experienced this. Bearing in mind that I have gone from 1.43 O2 to 1.66 stock to 1.72 O2 and this is the first time I noticing this, 2 months after last upgrade.
Strange...I havent noticed any issues, so I will probably just fix at the point of the next upgrade (assuming there will be one).
Thanks for input so far.
