I always managed to setup my email automatically (windiows mobile 6 will connect to my email service provider and downlaod settings automatically).
I tried now 2 offical WM 6.1 ROMs but no luck, I can not setup my email any more neither automatically nor manually.
I am sute the issue is in GPRS connection (but I can use IE to connect to the internet) or in WM 6.1 itself.
did anybody noticed the same thing, and are there any work around this issue.
thanks
Many have this issue. Did you try searching?
I usually start off with, "I will make the assumption that your device is a Tilt". Then I state, "You need a few tools and change some settings". So here is another reenactment of previous post.
First you need to install attsettings.cab
Next, go to start>settings>connection>connection>advanced>select networks>Change both drop down menus to medianet>click edit on both>click proxy settings tab on both>and uncheck everything
Third, set up your email without saving your password.
Forth, install removehiddenproxy.cab
Fifth and finally, go back to your email settings enter your password then save.
You will be all set from here....
Wow, thanks, I did try to search but did not see this. Why all of this, what is the core issue behind it.
thanks again
one thing I fogot to mention, I do not live in the UK and my service provider is not AT&T, does this solution still applicable to me
thanks
worked for me
It is difficult to search for some solutions. I too searched and finally landed here. Thank you much, as your solution enabled me to send and receive email. Although it would connect to the internet with a browser just fine, it kept giving me connection errors when synchronizing.
I have the L26_Kaiser_Diamond_V7 rom installed.

Hiya all,
I am a complete newbie to windows mobile devices. I Just received mt t-mobile mda touch, and am trying to set up one of my email accounts (yahoo.co.uk account)
I have tried setting it up with the auto tool, and manually putting all the details in, I know the are all correct, have tried about 8 times now!
Once its all set up, I click send/receive but it just goes back to tell me to check my username and password again. Another thing I noticed was that when I was checking all the settings, my starred out saved password appeared to have changed! (it seemed about 3 times as long as my actual password!)
Is there a way to fix this problem? I have tried to search the forum for this, and also everywhere else but can't seem to find a solution! I am search impaired!
I hope this makes sense to someone, its driving me a little mad!
Kara
Right, well ive managed to add my other main POP3 account which wasnt yahoo fine, My DP however has just got home and started to play with his new mda vario 3 (kaiser) Went to add email (same type of acc as my one that has worked) and hes now getting the prob I had with my yahoo one!!!
Any ideas?
Edited to add, ahh now hes sorted his out, something funky going on with the password!
My yahoo one still isnt working though.
Do u have a data plan that would allow you to access the web?
Yep, on t-mobile web n walk. Have browsed some web pages, and as i say, my main pop3 account is now downloading emails fine!
Kara.
I am new to the forums and used the DUTTY BETA 2 ATT TILT ROM. Followed all steps and everything works EXCEPT trying to use DIRECT PUSH thorugh the Microsoft Exchange server my work provides. I did a search and can't seem to find an answer. Cannot get anyone on the BETA 2 thread to respond for whatever reason (newb, didn't do my homework, too bad, price I pay for trying something new, etc.)
I have tried searching and have posted on one other thread that looks to be a similar problem.
Have tried enabling SSL and disabling. My tech director changed server side setting and removed certificate requirement from me to the server.
He seems to think there is a problem with the active sync included on the ROM.
1) Is there a way to simply fix the "ACTIVE SYNC" by installing, updating, etc.?
2) Can I simply revert back to a stock ATT rom without doing all of the other steps for the WARRANTY RETURN?? I am not planning on returning this, just want to put all software/rom back to STOCK as if out of box so I can try setting up direct push again.
3) Is there another ROM to flash to that does the touchflo stuff without a lot of hassle?
ANY HELP PLEASE???????? I am sort of lost as to where to go next. Don't want to use the desktop push software if I don't have to as it I dont' want to leave my destop PC on all the time.
THANK YOU THANK YOU for any help that you can provide!

I am using direct push with Exchange and Dutty's rom. And have no problems. Although it's the latest Rom.
What kind of problems are you getting?
I am getting the 0x80830003 error. I am unable to sync via direct push. I am using the Dutty AT&T TILT BETA 2 rom.
The Exchange server can see the device. I can sync if connected via the internet through my PC.
Which rom are you using that worked with Direct push? How many more things did you have to install with this rom in order to make verything work or did you just have to flash the rom?
I love everything else that the rom flash did except that I can't direct push email, calendar items, etc.
Direct Push with Dutty
I've used several of Dutty's ROMs, currently the one here and have never had any direct push issues. Working 100%
Thnx. Trying some other things first. If not, will try a different rom

Exchange push works on the Hermes, and Kaiser, with original Dopod ROMs, and with Schaps. (My IS dept. also could not get it working either. I don't depend on them.) You do not need anything extra for WM 5 or 6, any ROM, and there is no problem with ActiveSync.
Here's a basic checklist.
- Activesync/configure server. Input the "server address" (this is the external internet address for your Exchange server. Not an Intranet address, and not your exchange email id.)
- SSL is checked on mine
- next screen - User Name: (your Exchange id), Password: , Domain: (whatever your domain is for your regular Exchange setup). Check the Save password box.
- next screen, check the E-mail box, and the Calendar, Contacts, etc. This sets what will be sync'ed over your wireless data connection in Microsoft Exchange. If E-mail is checked under your Windows PC setting, then you have to uncheck it before you can select it under Microsoft Exchange.
Whatever you select under Windows PC will sync via your USB connection to your PC. Wireless push will be under Microsoft Exchange, which will only show up when you do the above.
Once you have both setup, you will see two sections when you open Activeysync on the PDA. Microsoft Exchange (for the wireless push), and Windows PC (for activesync through USB cable when connected to your PC)
From your description, you have setup E-mail to sync under Windows PC, and have never setup the push email part of it at all.
Once it is working, you can edit the options and schedule in Activesync to determine how much to download (I set it to 5K text), and how often. Recommend that you do not set the schedule to deliver immediately, but to check every 10 or 15 mins, or longer. Setting it to immediate causes the data connection to be on continuously, and uses the battery up fast. Set it to check periodically, and battery usage can go 2 days, instead of less than 1 day.

Enable Logging in the advanced setting of the account on your phone. Problem could be heartbeat issues or any number of issues. Ask the admin if the Mail Server has more than one address? Had a similar problem at work recently and our new IT admin figured out the Domain IP routing needed to include both of the servers IPs.
If the direct push works with wm 6.1 hermes,
I would check 2 things.
1. I am assuming you are using https. Check that server certificate is installed on kaiser, correct, and hasn't expired.
2. Make sure that you have https connectivity in general and specifically to the exchange server.
Often there could be issues associated with connection settings where media net was not chosen for internet connection. In any case, I would use setup connection found in settings.

You get this error because the "This network uses a proxy server to connect to the Internet" is checked for the MEdia Net access point. Go to Settings -> Connections and then select Set up proxy server and uncheck "This network uses a proxy..." box and you should be good to go.
Hi. for some reason since updating my mda vario 3 i cannot send emails using my ntlworld email.i can still recieve emails though.i have tried changing all settings in email but no joy.
I have also tried about 4 diffrent roms and a few diffrent radios.
at the moment im running on hardspl 3.29 , mobilevista 1.3 and radio 1.65.14.06
my hotmail emails work ok using windows live so to me it seems like an smtp error but ive checked and double checked and its what its always set to.
any ideas?
many thanks
I had a similar problem after flashing a ROM, and I don't know if this will help, but try going to:
Start > Settings > Connections (Tab) > Connections > Advanced (Tab) > Select Networks > Edit... > Proxy Settings (Tab) > Uncheck "This network uses a proxy server to connect to the Internet"
This worked for me, although I don't know if it will work for you, but I think it's worth a shot, as it also fixes the weather update in HTC Home.
Have a look at outgoing server authentification in the account setup - make sure it's enabled.
If you're receving but not sending this is most likely the cause.
no ive tried that aswell, just tried it again anyway and still no joy. cheers anyway
trying a new radio and rom but still dont think this will help.im stuck and need my email

have you tried flashing back to the rom you had when it did work, just to make sure it's not some sort of network error related to your email service? Not that you can do anything about it now, but this probably should have been posted in the Kaiser General forum. Just for future reference. It's nice when people post stuff in the right places.
sorry didnt realise it should of been there, its all a little confusing.no ive not attempted to change back.ive tried the t-mobile reconstructed rom but that dosnt work.i think it may of started since upgrading from olieprof v1 to spl 2.8.
would you like to move this thread or delete it and ill repost?
This happens to me frequently when I change roms - out of curiousity did you use sprite backup to restore your info? I am on ATT and even though settings = proxy disabled/smtp server=cwmx.com/no authentication and haven't changed, my account will recieve email, but not send... I have also had some problems with some corporate emails when I try to reply, but not if I initiate the email myself (wtf?)
The solution for me was to delete the email account from the account picker and then click on new email account icon & enter all the info again for the same account - a PITA but it hasn't failed me yet.
If someone has a simpler solution I would be ecstatic.
Cheers -
no never used any back up just iped all my phone, the thing is my windows live will send and recieve.im just flashing back to ollis radio to see if it works again.

Since it's not even working on the original rom then i think the problem is either in the email network, or in the settings rather than the rom, but that's merely conjecture.
it was working on the origional rom though.ive now tried oli pof v1 again and no joy. ive also manually configured the email and also let the wizard do it for me. als been on to my email on the pc and tried sending from there to make sure the serverisnt down and thats ok.
anyone else got any ideas?
Smtp.ntlworld.com wont let you send email if your connected to the net using anything other than an NTL/VM connectionO (using GPRS?)
I believe its an anti-spamming measure.
The solution I found was to use my mobile operators smtp server- in my case, im on Orange, so I use smtp.orange.net.
Hope the helps
I thought my mobile operator smtp server (ATT - cwmx.com) was somehow identifying my phone as "different" with a non-stock rom/radio and thus blocking email send attempts, even when the ATT provisioning xmls were in the rom or when built from an ATT base...
I could eventually get the send function to work although by deleting existing account & generating a new account.
Cheers,

If you are uk and using smtp.t-email.co.uk then Its worth noting there have been issues with the server (I phoned Tmob to find out).
I did manage to get my emails working in the end by deleting the account info and reapplying. I aslo would recommend not using the "apply auto settings" as for me, the settings were wrong and forced an IMAP setting. I deliberatley typed my yahoo.co.uk domain incorrectly so it would say "settings not found" then set it all up fully manually.
Hope some of this helps

I manage a bunch of WM phone at work.
I got a strange one.. that I can't figure out
Now normally I try and convince people at work to get an HTC..
But I have a few Moto Q and now a few Samsung users.
One new user just got a Samsung Epix (SGH-i907), and I setup an IMAP email on it same as all the other users. No Problem. Phone works well.. Kinda like the mouse/touchpad thingy..
Anyway..
Then a few days later it won't send email. Still recieves, but trying to send no matter what address gives you.
"The message(s) could not be sent. Check that you have network coverage and that your account information is correct. Then try sending again."
No matter what I tried it would still error out.
Tried sending via SSL.. Shut down completely... Nothing..
If I delete and re-setup the account it would work again for a few days then the same thing all over again..
Anyone got any ideas....
I am at a loss...
ATT Sim, Untouched phone, nothing even installed on it beside the default apps and Google Maps.
although youve not installed much according to your sig youve got a custom rom. i recomend going to the rom thread and searching for similar issues if you cant find any then ask in that thread

My sig is my phone..
Nothing to do with the phone in question..
then unfortunatley im out, i dont know much about att roms
only thing i can think of is if the password for the email account is changed every few weeks or whatever by default then you may run inti problems
i did this once and i couldnt think of why my phone couldnt connect not realising that id changed the password online
I finally figured out the issue.
It's with only some of the earlier builds of WM 6.1
From Microsofts site:
The problem occurs if a mobile operator doesn't use this feature, and therefore doesn't supply a value for the alternate SMTP address. When the mobile device fails on any attempt to connect to the e-mail provider's default SMTP server, Windows Mobile 6.1 automatically loads the value for the alternate SMTP server—which in this case is blank. The e-mail account configuration details are then corrupted, which results in loss of the ability to send e-mail with that particular e-mail account.

I absolutely love that Dutty's Task Manager works on the Leo, and it has brightened my day.
However, since installing my Twitter client won't connect. I've heard others have this problem too.
I'm on a dutch (0413) HD2, running the stock ROM (1.43.404.1 [70124] NLD), Manila v2.5.19202525.0
I've checked with only GPRS and with HSDPA active, and in both circumstances the Twiitter-app not only can't register, it doesn't even make the phone connect to data (the taskbar does not show a connection being made) so it's not my internetconnection that's at fault, the Twitter app doesn't even try to connect to the 'net anymore.
Anyone with a good idea what might be the cause of this?
I had a similar problem yesterday and I never even installed the Task manager. I had simply logged out of my Twitter account (don't remember why I did that) and couldn't log in again. It said my password or account name were wrong (they weren't).
Try logging into a different Twitter account (create a new one if you need to) and then into your own again, that worked for me.

See, mine just tells me the network is unavailable... without ever trying to connect.
If I turn off the dataconnection before trying a Twitter update, it never reconnects when it says it's updating... and then tells me the network is unavailable.
In other words, the Twitter app doesn't know how to find the internet connection anymore.

did you ever find a solution to this?
i have the same problem but with google map
i cant login
it say login in ....... and nothing happen
i try different version but no lack
I also have the same problem, but mine started to happen after I installed Comm Manager Pro. Can someone confirm that logging into a different account helps? In my case, it doesnt say the login or password is incorrect and it doesn't argue about the internet connection. It just doesn't update and doesnt show any tweets on the list
To me two accounts helped. (Comm manager and task manager installed).
However I still see as a bug that Peep, Location/Weather does not update correctly. Hope new rom 2.x will fix it.
