Ex AT&T Treo - Phone refuses to connect - Palm Treo 750

Can anyone help? I bought a 2nd-hand Treo (ex AT&T and unlocked). It runs WM6 and works perfectly except the phone won't connect! I have tried two different SIM cards (which work in other phones), but it just says - Searching - for ever. I have played with the Network/Band selection - it is currentlyGSM and GSM (900+1800)+UMTS 2100 - which I believe is correct for either Optus or Telstra in Australia. Thanks in advance

XDA1 phone no signal

My XDA 1 phone has stopped working - no signal - can't phone - or internet or anything. It still connects to the emergency police number though - everything else works fine on the XDA. (It has ppc mobile 2002 on it.) Any ideas how to fix it?
Does this sometimes happen?
Is it the end of my device?
I live in Holland - it worked fine. I took it to England - it worked fine - it switched over to the English phone networks etc. I bought it back to Holland and it stopped working!
tried another sim in it or tried the sim in another phone ?
Did you change the network selection method?
Is it / was it set to Manual or Automatic?
If you choose a manual selectiom method and get it to scan, does it find networks?
You have to provide more info, I'm afraid.
Cheers
Ant
PS - you might get more help if you'd posted it in the Wallaby section instead of in General.
I have used the sim card from my "non-working" xda1 in another phone and it works. I have used a sim card from another phone which I know works, in my ."non-working" xda1 and it won't work .
I have set my xda1 to manual configeration, and it finds networks, it says available networks: KPN and Libertel, (I am in Holland). So I guess there must be a signal to and from my xda1. (Is that right?)
It doesn't give "telfort" as an available network. which is my simcard network. The xda1 says it is o2 uk all the time. Is it possible it still thinks I'm in the Uk and doesn't switch over to Dutch networks?
I'm in over my head with this...what should I do?.
Go to settings/phone, choose "network" then choose "find network", this should give a list of available service providers, once you have found the one you need, choose it, if it is already set for automatic it should have already done this. If this doesnt work then it would appear to be a blocked phone, is there any reason for it to become blocked? I bought 2 xda phones and both became blocked because people had claimed on insurance, once they pay up they block the imei so it cannot be used again.

UMTS850 Support (Australia NextG)

Hi all,
I've searched the forum but couldn't really get the info I'm after. I purchased my Touch Pro (TP) from Singapore & have since flashed it with the Hut3 ROM update. Many thanks to gentleman who posted it as I wasn't able to download it from HTC Australia because my serial number did not match HTC's requirement (that REALLY sucks). I can CATEGORICALLY state the Hut3 ROM has fixed the rebooting during phone call & roaming &/or simultaneous data push/pull.
This new ROM gives me a selection of GSM (1900+850) + UMTS(1900+85) when I select this band option I'm unable to detect any networks. The only option that works is auto or GSM(900+1800) + UMTS(2100).
Does the TP support 850? Or are there different hardware versions? If so can it be modified to work at 850?

[Q] HELP Wanted - A ROM for the CDMA TP2 with CDMA disabled (making GSM only)

OK, it might sound silly but this is what I am trying to do.
I have ex-Sprint Touch Pro 2 phones (so CDMA versions) that have been unlocked using the Olipro htc-unlocker tool. The phones work fine when the sim cards are in the phone and GSM only is selected (I use many different custom roms, no problems). Global mode or CDMA is obviously no good as they try to use sprint network. If the sim is removed (or swapped for a different sim) or a reset is done, when the phone is turned back on it attempts to activate on Sprint again (as it has reverted back to global or CDMA mode). Is it possible to stop this from switching back to CDMA or Global when the sim is removed (or a reset is done), so that the phone stays as GSM only. Ie, so that if a sim is removed it would just say "Insert Sim" or similar.
What I have already tried:
Changing/Removing settings while in Diag mode (both phone mode and PC mode). This includes deleting ex-phone number and voicemail settings etc, even disabling every CDMA option I can find.
Flashing a custom ROM for Tmobile only (designed for CDMA version phone but setup specifically for Tmobile settings).
What I would like:
A ROM (designed specifically for the CDMA version) that has no CDMA option at all, or at least the factory/reset default is GSM only, not global and not CDMA (and where it doesn't revert to CDMA mode if a sim is ever removed).
Or
A setting perhaps in the diag mode (##3424#) that would allow me to completely disable the CDMA radio so that if no sim is in the phone then the phone is useless.
Or
Some other way of achieving what I have said above.
If I can offer any help in making what I have said above more understandable just ask, it makes sense in my head.
I have flashed / unlocked / modified many phones in my time but this problem really annoys me, any help would be great.
Thanks
I'm really not an expert on what you're asking (sorry..), but if I understand you correctly, you're saying that a CDMA TP2 can actually by used on a GSM network?? That would be something for new since I thought that CDMA phones had different hardwares than GSM phones. Do you have a link on that topic?
Correct, the CDMA version still has a SIM slot for use when you are outside the US (called a Worldphone). Using the unlocking tool provided by Olipro (link provided below) the phone can be unlocked to work with GSM SIM cards here in the US.
**Do take note though - if you ever flash a ROM onto the phone it is still considered a CDMA version not a GSM version - Don't flash a GSM ROM onto this type of phone**
The link you are looking for is rhodiumw.htc-unlocks.com/
My problem is that I often remove or swap SIM cards, use different GSM networks etc and want to completely remove the existance of the CDMA network (as the phone always reverts to CDMA if a sim is removed or changed).

I would love to have this exactly,I am using a sprint touch pro2 on tmobile, and it drives me crazy that it keeps jumping back to global mode.
I had started to wonder if I was the only one who wanted this.
It must be possible (somehow) to set the "Mode of Operation" not to change if a SIM is removed.

[Q] Network problems with I9000 bought in Singapore, using in Canada

Hi everyone,
I bought a Samsung Galaxy S GT-I9000 (16gb) in Singapore and was using it fine on Singtel's network (signed a contract with them). Now I have moved back to Canada and brought my phone with me assuming that all would be ok to use it with the network here. However I'm having big problems with this one network I just signed up with (Virgin Mobile).
85% of the time I cannot connect to it: voice calls and SMSing won't work nor will the data work on it, the only thing it says is "Emergency calls only". Then at other times everything will seem to connect and work fine - I can make calls and use data.
Virgin Mobile will not support me much because they're thinking it's the phone's problem, if I use the phone they gave me (a lower-end model) it works fine.
Here are some details of my phone:
Firmware version
2 2
Baseband version
I9000DXJPA
Kernel version
2 6 32 9
root (at) SE-S604 #1
Build number
FROYO DXJPA
If I check out the status, it usually says this:
Network
Unknown (switches to VIRGIN when it does work)
Mobile network type
UMTS (switches between that and HSDPA and GPRS)
Service state
Out of service
Mobile network state
Disconnected (switches to connected when working, and even when it's not working sometimes)
I have Network mode set to auto mode (GSM/WCDMA). I've tried to switch it to GSM only but that didn't seem to change anything.
I'm wondering if there's some kind of configuration settings I still need to do with the phone? I'm also wondering if it is the network I'm with right now? Virgin Mobile isn't one of the bigger telcom companies here and I'm thinking that if I switch to one of the bigger telcoms, will it work better?
Something else to add - before I signed up with Virgin I was using my phone with a pre-paid service (called Chatr) for voice only and it was working fine.
I'm sure this phone can support the GSM frequencies here.. can't it?
I also still have the Singtel customizations on the phone. Will it help if I remove it?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks a lot!
Ryan

[Q] Cannot Connect to 3g with the Correct APN settings?

Hi All,
A few weeks ago I bought the Euro Xoom 3g and of course try to use the internet.
Problem in short:
The Vodafone Sim i use does not work with 3g on the Xoom. It borrowed the sim from my HTC Legend ( on which 3g works perfectly ).
More info:
APN settings i used are:
- Same on Legend (with CW7)
- Original Xoom (NL Vodafone)
- The settings received from Vodafone themselves.
Same symptoms in Rooted and unrooted Xoom
Model MZ601 Build:H.6.1-38-1
GSM network is functional ( even get text messages about missed calls )
Attached is a logcat from the radio while the xoom tries to connect, with a few things i noticed ( but do not really understand ) mentioned below:
GPRS CSS not supported / UMTS CSS not supported
[0388]< REQUEST_GET_NEIGHBORING_CELL_IDS error: com.android.internal.telephony.CommandException: REQUEST_NOT_SUPPORTED
Things i read from other forums ( like tweakers.net ) are:
Update 12jun, other provider sim i lent (kpn) worked like a charm.
- Users with other providers (KPN/T-Mobile) do not get such issues.
- Some users (and i ) call/visit Vodafone but only get the "Is the APN set up correctly" without any luck reconfiguring.
- The neighbouring cell message could relate to incorrect programming ( read in custom rom forum topics )
Can any help help me to analyze what is going wrong, if this is something fixable in the software or anything else?
Thanks in advance and for reading upto this part of the message.
Help!

Was this ever fixed? I've got a Motorola Xoom (picked it up on clearance for cheap!) and I live in Australia. Optus, Crazy Johns, Boost, Vodafone etc ALL work fine with the correct APNs and do at least detect the network, whereas Virgin (the sim I'm using) does not.
I know the sim works, as I've tried it in other devices (android AND iOS) with the same APN settings, and I know the device works (on other networks) so it's not locked...
I'm at my wits end here!

That looks like a solution... I'll try that if the Motorola guys haven't heard of the issue before and don't have a solution (I've got a couple of reps looking into it, should know by tomorrow)
Cheers!
