My treo 750 touch screen suddenly doesnt work

bad lucks. suddenly the touch screen doesnt work.
Dont know why. Try to hard reset and and cant use at all
does any1 have got this problem before

Finally works
waks finally it works,
I leave it for a while and do a charging for it.
Cause I though the battery should be in cold condition (winter time in Ozi)
And yeah it works, so if you guys found this problem try above solution and see if it works

noramly it works for 5 -10 min then it geting Fu&#d agein

sadly, this is happening to me as well. What apps have you installed? You're not by any chance using Sprite Backup 6? This problem only started when I installed Sprite Backup...conincidentally, I had a similar problem with my HTC Herald after using same programme, it may reset the backlight to off.

no i dident use sprite backup i had a lot os SPB stuff but i dot think it is any thing to do with it as HARD RESET dose NOT help ;(
what OS do u use Windows Mobile 5 or 6 ?
when it hapened to me i was on WM5 (i had it replaced)
recently i instaled WM6 on my new one it works great !
there was a post about some one having the same problem wich was FIXED by Upgrading to WM6 u shuld try it maybe !
if u will tellme if it workes !
u also cen unlock Ext_ROM and Get rid of ATT junk compleatly and u will get Unbranded ROM (it better if u not on ATT network in mi opinion)

maybe this is just a stupid thought, but do you use screen protectors?
i applied the one which palm has deliverd with it and shortly after that the screen didnt work. any hard- or softreset didnt help.
after removing it everythings works like before

NO i dident use any screen protecters

interestingly, mine just failed the same way as yours just 15 minutes ago. Tried rebooting and eventually hard reset, samething.
I noticed it would work when it prompts "touch screen to begin calibrating". Once the screen is touched, the keyboard backlight lits up, and screen wouldn't respond anymore. If I tap the screen the keyboard backlight would flicker very slightly.
I am running WM6, NO APPS INSTALLED, no screen protector, fresh 2 weeks old phone.
Now I have to figure out how to revert it back to WM5 so I can send it in for replacement.

By the way, if you pull the battery out and let the phone sit for 10 minutes, it will cool down and act normal for few minutes. Enough to do the touch screen calibration thing in case if you are stuck there.

yep...my treo exhibits exactly the same symptoms. It only started after I started using Sprite Backup and Handango Inhand. I have now turfed both and propose doing a hard reset and reinstall but don't hold out too much hope. I reckon it is basically a return to Palm job.

Dont know why it doesnt work again
Try to upgrade to wm6 seems doesnt help at all.

This is my third Treo 750.
The other two had all a defect touchscreen.
It's a hardware problem.

Mine also failed within a day of applying a screen protector. I got a new one from the AT&T store (still within my 30 days) and haven't had a problem since.
I don't want to go long w/o a screen protector, though...

Help Problem!!!

After Upgrading to windows 6 Some times My phone screen suddenly fade to white , blue or black.. I've tried different roms and still the problem exist
can someone help me? what is happening to my universal? is it because WM6 still not stable?

Which Radio Rom are you using ?

I've been using 1.17 but when I use 1.15 the screen also fade to blue or white

Try without sd card
or
try older (reliable) wm5 rom

I already try KAMAL WM5 but still it happens and I also forget to mention that when the screen fade to white or blue my phone suddenly become hot..is there any possibility that the problem is from the hardware?

Yes, I have try another battery and the wifi is off..
The screen went blue when I was receiving sms or when I want to send sms.
sometime when I left the phone standby for half an hour the phone cannot be turned on and I have to press the reset button and after entering the splash screen the screen went blue/white again so I have to reset several time

i think its something e related to the vibrate? its shorted or somehting and the power is going there but no vibration.. thus causing the overheating and the freezing.. im not sure but maybe.. also have you dropped the machine?

Appears to be a hardware problem. You may try this, it may work:
1. Remove the battery. Keep the battery out at least for a few hours.
2. With the battery out operate a few keys randomly. Also operate the on/off switch a couple of times.
3. Remove your sim card and storage card.
4. Put the battery back.
5.Allow the booting process without intruption.
6. If it works well just switch off, remove battery and insert the sim card and sd card. reboot
Although it sounds a bit wierd it does work in some cases. Worth giving it a try.

it means that the problem is because of the roms not the hardware..

Screen going black

I've tried various different ROM images (including the excellent Dr.Gonzo), and I have this problem with all of them.
When I'm using the phone either with the keyboard in or out, the screen just switches off randomly. If I wait a few seconds (possibly the backlight timer length), then it comes back. Mostly... Othertimes I have to wait a lot longer, but it does always come back.
A reboot sometimes fixes it, but not always - does anything survive a reboot or battery removal?
Anybody else seen anything like this? I have seen a lot of threads about the screen staying on, but not off.
Of course, it could be a hardware fault, but because it's intermittent, it's hard to prove.

If you shake the phone can you re-produce this problem? I've never not heard of this being affected by software - you might also want to ensure you're not overclocking it.
Nothing is removed when you do a battery removal or reboot, ensure your connections are all tight and make sure the SIM pins are all making contact and the SIM door closes, apart from that it sounds like a possible bad LCD ribbon.

Shaking it doesn't reproduce the problem.
Once the phone has started doing this, it happens everytime you press a key.
Seems more like a memory leak to me since it always seems to happen after a while of web browsing/email use.

So actually, it looks like it might be a hardware fault.
I think it happens when the device gets warm. After a few minutes with the screen on, keyboard lit up, wifi on, the phone gets pretty warm and that's when the screen seems to go black. Leave to cool and all returns to normal.

Same issue here, but the screen does not acually go black/blank it just seems that the screen backlight does not turn back on from a standby like state, the phone itself functions but just not able to see whats going on on the screen.
(keyboard lights work fine and come on when expected)
Not sure about the heat theory as it happens (to me) most often right after a call, anything over 30-50 seconds and the backlight problem occurs, when it decides to work again is a matter of luck.
As said before because it's intermittent, it's very hard to prove.
Has anyone who has had this issue, fixed it with a hard reset ?
Very strange ... but also getting very annoying now!

i got the same thing. took it back to warranty and they said nothing's wrong with the phone but i still get this.

I experience the same problems.. it happens pretty random, but every time when you hit a key. I have set all timers to never but the problem is still there.
Running Gonzo 1.1 at the moment, upgraded from guava.. but that didn't solve the problem.
It is getting so annoying now that I am about to throw the s710 in the dustbin

I have turn it back to my provider and no problem now.

i have the same problem with my VOX
apparently, i can still receive phone calls, and do whatever i want with the phone,
but the screen just stays black, its like if you have unplugged your monitor
since i dont have a htc center in my town or anywhere else nearby.
does anyone know a way on how to open the phone, change what need to be changed and correct the problem? im all up for testing if that would resolve this annoying problem :s

i don't think taking it apart would help you because this is not a physical fault that you can locate.
and i learned that mcel is the retail seller of vox in mozambique. they should be able to help you with service. else just send a mail to htc support and they will guide you.

yes, mcel are the retail sellers, but i tried to go there, and there are no specialists on htc's there,
the thing is, i didnt bought my htc from them, so i can't go there and change for another one

I'm having exactly the same weird problem and I think I found some pattern when it occurs. Well, the thing is that in the bright day or in a room with lots of light it works just fine. In the darker conditions… well… not so fine. It seems to me that this screen blackout happens whenever the keyboard light is on and screen changes to full brightness (in the dark, because of the light sensor). In the daylight, keyboard light doesn't turn itself on, so s710 works. I don't know much but this definitely isn't some bad contact problem. Maybe some battery problem, but I doubt it since I can receive phone call in this condition. This started to happen after I flashed this Windows Mobile 6.1 ROM from HTC (I have original S710). Flashing Dr.Gonzo's later on didn't bring any luck either. I believe that some power control SW is the main culprit. I've read that many people mention some Tornado Power Control app. Does anybody know can this application be permanently disabled or removed?

are you trying to say that by desabling the light sensor, the problem might go away?
i would also like to know if it possible to have the baklight on the lowest possible brightness forever, because it seems, on a low brightness the problem might go away

I also have this problem with the lightsensor turned off. And also at (as it seems) random moments.

well, even with the light sensor turned off, the problem persisted.
i got my phone to a repair shop of htc's, and they figured out the problem
my phone is now 100% thankfully, the repair man told that the problem was because of bad or malfunctioned circuits, he exchanged them with new ones, and the problem went away,
dont know wich circuits exactly, and he didnt want to tell me, but i suggest anyone having the same problem to try and do the same
probably its a hardware malfunction with these VOX,
its possible since so many times before i've heard about malfunctioned pieces coming out in large quantities for sale.

I have the same problem. I just noticed that it usually happens when the phone is warm, so if you need to do something on my phone just... take some ice from fridge and put it on back of your mobile. I cant see any more solutions.
Please someone help us!

Update. Problem Solved
Just thought I'd update this thread I started.
I sent the phone back to my dealer (Grapevine in Poole,UK).
A week later, I got a brand new one back from the HTC repair centre.
So far, so good. Looks like the problem's solved.

hey...so i think there something really wrong with my wizard...
when im just using it sometimes when i switch it off ( not ike completly just press the button once...) and then when i want to switch it on again it doesnt work...! its still on cuz the green LED still works but i get no picture...so i have to take aut the battery and restart it...!
whats wrong there<???
and then i have another problem and its that sometimes when im starting the wizard again after that happened it turns to white screen after the second boot screen (but its not the same moment every time...some time between the second boot screen and till its started up )...or there are wired stripes on the screen for a few seconds and then it restarts...or sometimes it just stucks at the 2nd splash screen or some other time during starting up...
i already switched the rom so i used crackings 6.1 rom before now i use his 6.5 rom...
i thought it could be the cpu??
i runned it on 240 or 252 for like 6 month now...
does anyone know how to fix that or is there no way of fixing it?

Open the phone and check the connection between the mother board
and the video (its the push connector on the back of the MB) if its tight
you will have to take the lcd section apart ,the other end of the ribbon
cable goes to the lcd and digitizer its a tab locking connection with clear yellow tape over it. check and see if its all the way in ... if that don't fix it get get a new LCD/digitizer from Ebay .. it plugs in i one piece ...
then your off a running ... id watch the over clocking too ... when you
OC the cpu everything runs faster and heat builds up and can damage the phone .. i have seen several OMAP versions here that OC when needed
and return when the phone is idle ..
thats my 2 cents worth on that

If you are sure that your problems are not rom specific (you faced the same problems with different Roms?) then maybe this is the solution for your problem .
Good luck finding what's going wrong.-

Same thing has started happening to me. I just press the reset button and it restarts just fine. I don't see why others are thinking its a problem with the LCD. A reset shouldn't fix that (I'm guessing).

ya so the problem i have is not the one descibed in the video...
its differnet...the stripes are ther not the whole time ...it comes sometimes and then there are these stripes and then the screen turns slowly white...and then sometimes it restarts or its just stays white...
and when i normaly switch it off then the leds are still working just the screen wouldnt turn on...
so i really have no idea whats going on there...i tried to make a video but now it didnt happen for almost 4 days so i just hope that its not happening again...
but its really wired and i think its the cpu cuz i cant think of another reason for that...

I flashed my Rom before one month and i have serious problem. I do not know if problem appeared suddenly but I noticed that, when people told me that they called me and missed calls not appeared.
The problem is when my device goes to sleep mode. The phone not rings but only screen goes on, when terminate the call (no leds, no missed call notification).
I tried to change battery settings and disable turn off device if not used for 1 minute (default). Now, my screen goes black only if I press power button. But the phone still not rings.
I really need your help, i tried everything hard reset, reflash my rom again but the same. Thank you in advance!

Are you getting any sound at all from anything?? Only reason why i ask, the prophet is prone to load speaker blow outs, it happened to me..... but its easy to fix, about $10 from ebay and half hours work and voila fixed.
