I am having a problem with picture messaging. When I receive them, they are only about 5 -10 kb and they are VERY tiny. Is there any way to set the phone to download the actual file size of the picture sent?
How I tested: I send a 95 kb picture to myself, and when it got sent back to me, it was only 5kb. However, when I sent the picture to my e-mail address, it received the entire 95 kb file. So I know there was no cap on the file size when i sent it, but why am i getting it back in a tiny 5kb? Any help would be most appreciated!
Ok, I'm going to update and bump this back up to see if there are any other reports. I'm also getting tiny pictures on all WM6 MMS messages I receive. I don't do a lot of MMS stuff, but my daughter sent me a 640x480 image and it came in as a thumbnail 160x120 size which is frustrating. I can send out images in full size from WM6, but all images coming into me are scaled.
I've verified that in the MMS settings, Photo Resolution is set to Original size (i've even set it to every other size and it still doesn't matter, all pics received are 160x120).
Is there anyone out there running WM6 that receives full size images? If so, which WM6 rom are you using? What version of Arcsoft is on your phone? I'd like to try to get to the bottom of this.
Just got off the phone with Cingular and HTC. Decided to call Cingular as I saw on another forum (for another type of phone) that if the celluar provider doesn't have the info on your phone then their system will scale pics to small images like 160x120. Cingular of course has no clue about this and claims its an issue with the device so they put me to HTC. HTC checks a few things then puts me back to Cingular...
What I can see is the message I'm sending has a size of 71K and contains a 640x480 image (by doing Info on the objects in the MMS composer of my sent messages). But the downloaded message is only 11K and the objects info shows the downloaded image is 160x120. So this tells me the scaling is happening elsewhere (I even turned off automatic download and I can see the header message I receive telling me that the message size is smaller than what I sent, so its already been scaled).
So is there something on our phones that send info up to the cell tower that tells it what type of phone this is? If so, could it be that WM6 is sending a code that isn't expected by the cell company, so they then scale it to the 160x120 size?
Here's a link to the forum note I found about this similar issue on a different phone. http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=131824 In that thread, it just started working (so they are guessing the cell provider fixed something on their end).

Most likely Cingular has a database of their "Official" phones and what resolutions they support. Their system is probably configured to send the small image to any phone that has no entry in the database. The only way you are probably going to get full size images is for cingular to add your model phone running win mobile 6 to their database of phones. My guess is this will be next to impossible to do so youll have to live with it or switch to a provider that wont limit your MMS picture sizes based on phone. If you can get enough wizard users to complain to Cingular they might do something about it.

Yeah, the more I research this, the more I think this is likely the case. Cingular wants to send me a replacement phone (some guy called me back tonight ) said, the guy I spoke to had talked to him aobut my issue, and he was authorizing a replacement for it. I kindly told him I'd have to think about it as I'm not ready to rebuild this phone (little do they know I've done that multiple times in the past few days .
Tempted to fall back to AKU3.3 and test it there (I didn't test MMS any). I've started questioning what WM6 is really buying me right now. Its been fun to play with. May have to switch back to see how it feels and then decide whether I stay on WM6 or not.
This may be your picture size fix.
I'm actually using an 8525 Hermes and not an 8125 Wizard, but I had the exact same problem as you. I think the problem lies somewhere in the setup of the Cingular MMS, GPRS, and Media Net settings. I'm not positive about that, but I do know that (at least for me) my picture downsizing problem went away as soon as I used the Cingular cab file developed by shogunmark, which can be found in this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299393&page=2
So if any of you are on Cingular/AT&T and having the MMS picture sizing problem, try the cab. It may be just what your Wizard ordered!

Dude! This fixed my problem completely. Just sent and received a couple of 640x480 images with no issues! Thanks a ton for this info, I honestly thought running WM6 was the problem, but it was in how I was setting up my connections... Very very cool
FWIW: I actually went to the first post of the thread (they are keeping that one updated) and used the second cab in that post:
Cingular WAP MediaNet MMS Settingsv2.cab . I also removed the stuff I added so there weren't extra settings.

I can check that, but that still wouldn't explain not receiving any MMS... I know there is a CAB file to fix it, but it's for Cingular... I suppose it wouldn't be wise to try that, would it?
It is set to send "original size" but that wont affect "receiving". My MMS sends the entire file size, but all pictures received are 160x120 or smaller. Its annoying.
I have T-mobile.
FYI, my mms works fine with WM5. I first thought that maybe T-mobile had a server issue and downsized pix. But then when i went back to Xelecin's custom 2.6 rom, it worked fine. I even tried the standard t-mobile 2.26 rom. I am only getting small pix with WM6
Possible T-Mobile Fix for Tiny Pictures
Hey guys I was looking at this problem with the tiny pictures coming through on the MMS. I didn't have the problem on MBE but I flashed Not Too Smart's ROM and found this problem. One of the possible solutions I came up with was to unlock the Extended Rom using the UNLOCK EXTENDED ROM WIZARD and the running the setup file to restore this to a T-Mobile (branded?) Style phone. It will keep WM6 on there but add on the other features from the T-Mobile WM5 ROM such as OZ instant Messaging, T-Zones, Hot Spot Locator, as well as all the default settings for SMS, MMS, and EDGE.
As soon as I can get someone to send me an MMS, I'll let you know if it worked.

I don't know. I would assume that Faria's Etended ROM would have over write the T-Mobile extended ROM.
I have the files in a zipped folder, but for some reason I keep getting upload errors. Any help?
Just unzip the file and throw the unzipped folder onto an SD card. When the card is in your device, launch the autorun program. Hopefully it should work. I would probably delete all the previous MMS settings, and GPRS settings that you placed previously.
I've been looking for an application for my pocket pc that can send an anonymous sms but also be able to pretend that it came from someone else.
I enjoy messing with my mates
Anyone got any ideas or know anything about how this could be possible?
I don't think that can be done from your mobile. you best use a internet based sms company. I think there are some sites that send free sms
I think VJ has sumthing on his website.
I think it's called Class 0 SMS. I know for a fact that you can't save a Class 0 SMS but i'm not a 100% sure abou anonymity.
www.vijay555.com
thanks for the info, ill go take a look.
Hi, in Portugal I use *conf# before the sms.
Ex: *conf#Hello, how are you?
Hope it helps!
If you do not like command line tools you san take a look at brand new Hush SMS here.
Thanks for all the info.
I tried Hushsms and it works great, I can have quite a bit of fun messing with my mates.
It would be awsome if it had a feature to send the sms to 1 friend make it seem as if it came from another friend but for now I can still have quite abit of fun.
The other little issue is that you can only send the sms anonymously to someone with a pocket pc phone....on normal phones your number comes up.
*conf# seems only work in your country.

Hey Please tell me how u got it working
It keeps showing my no on my Friends Ppc Phone
wht do i do so my no doesnt show on his ppc Phone
The only thing that you have to do in order for your number not to to show up on your friends PPC is to make sure that you tick class 0 before you send the sms.
What happens if you send to yourself?
Are you sending to a PPC or a windows smart phone?

I have a Tilt & sending it to a Tilt also
I go to Programs then click on HushSms Icon
It opens & i Tic the class 0 like u said
Type a Hi in it & then can chooe who u want to send to from ur phone book
& the no appears like this eg: (212) 123 4567
do i need to type the No in like this :- 001 212 123 4567 ?
& for International :- 001 44 12345 67890 (Thats uk CODE)
BUT I TRYED THAT TOO DOENT WORK
did not have gaps like above,
Above was just to explain to u so put gaps
As far as I know it shouldn't make adifference How you type the number as long as you tick class 0.
The reason is that the class 0 sms doesn't come through as a normal sms, it comes through as a message from network. Example. When your battery is going flat a message pops up at the bottom of your screen to let you know, then it just disapears.
Maybe the Tilt doesn't support class 0 sms.
Do you know anyone with another ppc phone that you can try send to?
There is another app called flashsms that does the same thing, maybe give that a try.
Let me know if you come right otherwise I will try investigate a bit more into why this is not working on the Tilt.
I just found this in another thread that might explain the problem that you are having.
I don't know if it's true or not but this is what this guy says.
I personaly find it hard to believe but I suppose it could be true.
"your operator can modify setting of the messages you are sending and autoconvert class0 messages to normal SMSes and this not a problem with HushSMS app, but your operator."
If you want to have some fun with anonumous sms send me a mail and ill give you a link to an interesting site.
I would prefer not to post it on the forums as some people tend to use this sort of thing for other reasons besides for having a little fun with your mates.
*ri# Hello works for sending anonymous sms in/with my country/operator (Romania/Orange).
Well doesnt work on Tilt
was fun while it lasted that it might work
try *h# message
this also works in portugal
I also tried hushsms with my provider Orange NL, it doesnt work.
It sent the messages, and the customerservice saw the messages in the system, and I have been charged for it, but they don't arrive!
try this!
I have sent anonymous messages to NL via service called SMSGANG.

Have searched and found nothing on this issue except a t-mobile cab which did nothing.. Any one else have any luck fixing this issue. Im on Sprint btw. Thanks!
Are you on the stock rom?
yes on stock sprint rom. thanks
It could have something to do with Sprint not setting up the MMS profile properly on their end. Call and *****. If you know someone that has a stock Touch Pro, Touch Diamond, Mogul, or 6700, it is pretty easy to get the settings. Basically you would open up a registry editor and navigate to the key below. Export it, then import it on your TP2. This will fool the MMS server to think your phone is one that can handle MMS sizes properly.
Code:
HKLM\Software\Arcsoft\Arcsofft MMS UA\mm1\WspHeader

You are on the stock Sprint rom, and you are on Sprint. Have you called them and asked? One way you can ALWAYS test the sizes, is email yourself ([email protected] or [email protected]) an MMS. This will enable you to troubleshoot.

small pics
i used this cab and it worked
For me, the MMS pics are fine; it's the MMS videos that are smaller than a postage stamp. The CAB attached to the previous message did not help.
I'd like to upgrade the ROM, for a variety of reasons, but before doing so, I want to archive and/or convert all the videos my wife has sent me in the "\My Documents\UAContents\MMS UA" folder. I've been googling for awhile, but I haven't been successful at finding a extractor/converter/player that can handle successfully the .DAT files.

Go into the message itself, and save the contents. This will give you the source, as opposed to the dat file.
Hey, sorry if someone already made a thread on this, I wasn't sure what to search for to find out, but here it is:
On the TP2, and I'm sure everyone with this phone has noticed it, while viewing txts in conversation mode, if you leave the conversation open and recieved X amount of messages from that person, when you close out, it will still say you have X number of unread messages, and you have to open and close your conversation X number of times before it shows as no unread messages.
I'm hoping HTC makes a fix for this soon because it is really annoying, but I wanted to see if any of you very capable guys here can make a simple cab fix for it.
I've noticed similar problems and I think it's a bug in the TF3D interface unfortunately.
Holy cow, that was my biggest gripe. I just stopped going into the WM messaging and I use the tf3d instead (click on the first msg from the messaging tab) and stay in there. It works right.
I almost always use the TF3d interface and I still have go occasionally go back in and enter the message again to get the indicator to go away, even after I've responded!
Agreed I hate it. I am not using the HTC interface (went with SPB) but if I get messages and chat in the SMS window it will not mark them as read. I HATE IT!
I haven't tried using the TF3d to see if it works better. I always used the default WM home screen cause I like it better. But either way, yeah hoping they will fix it lol It did it on my TP also, but only after I installed the latest update. With it being on that and on this one, I almost wonder if it wasn't a glitch and maybe it is intentional idk
I have also noticed it too. My old touch pro did the same thing. I have noticed on the touch pro two it changes between two different styles of text messaging screens, it really messes me up because the send button ends up in different spots.
when you're on the sms thread and you're talking to person just use your arrow keys to go up towards the one you haven't read. it'll show a closed envelope to the left of the message and as you press up and pass them the envelope opens up. no need to open and close.
Yes from the SMS inbox that's fine, but from the TF3D interface which is easier to get to than the SMS inbox if you're running TF3D then sometimes you need to read it again.
I was hoping they fixed this in 6.5 but NOPE of course not. WHY THE HELL ARE THERE TWO MESSAGING PROGRAMS!?!?!

You disabled ALL TF3D or just the SMS in TF3d?
I used SBP Mobile Shell as a replacement for a bit, but i had some problems with it too....Are there any other shells out there worth looking at that might correct some messaging issues?
On a somewhat related note, has anyone else noticed that some people you get text messages will be an hour behind? Like you recieve the txt at 5:30pm and it shows as 4:30pm? My TP did this also. I don't know if there is a setting or something...

+1 I wanna know this too except for the TMOUS version. I kinda hate the TF sms. Also has anyone noticed thatg when you type in a recipients name, it brings up ALL their numbers? My Tilt used to only show me mobile numbers for the recipient (which makes sense since land lines and faxes dont typically receive texts DDUUUHHH!!!) but i have on occasion sent a text to a friends home phone or fax!!
+2 I also would like to know if i can make WM my default SMS.
Hi,
I am new on this portal but I read a lot in the last days and was very surprised of the solutions you find and also the apps you made working. Great
I know its not looking very good to ask as newbie for help but I hope you can help me... I am searching for more than a week for a solution and tried even to edit the registry but unfortunately I am not good enough to find the solution
So what do I want do to?
I have a HD2 (branding free) and I want to install Avaya One-X mobile.
Well the installation was succesfull and I also get it running inside my company and also the private modus. But since I have it installed I hear no ringtone. It always plays an "ding" and thats all.
So right now I always have to keep my eyes on my mobile to see if someone calls me or not.
And the second problem is that I also get no caller picture displayed..
But as soon as I deinstall the one-x everything is working (phone rings and caller picture is displayed)????
So you are my last hope to find a solution. Please can you help me?
If you need any further infos please let me know
Thanks
Frank
oh... the one-x mobile software is free for download on the avaya webiste
I can post you the link later (I am not allowed to post it right now...)
i'm getting mad with it...
Now I am a step further.. I now that the software deactivates the onboard call handler. I think it is only a registry setting to reenable it. after done the caller name+picture should be displayed and even the call-slider should be back.
Does someone have an idea where I can find the entry?
well now I know exactly the differents between the registry with one-x installed vs without. But I have no experiences in reading/interpreting my results.
Is a Dword something which can be used as name? or is it only a value?
Does someone has a guide for beginners please?
Did you contact Avaya support for assistance?
I have recently taken over all our telecoms at the office (avaya system)
Saw your post on One-x and been reading a little on it. Where did you get the install files from and did you get it working in the end?
I have a support contact with a company called central so I can contact them for free advice if needed
is this the version you are using?

I have emailed my support company and they will be sending the software to me on a disc.
thanks for your responses.
I installed the version for pocketpc WM6 (not the UC version) and yes it is working fine
But:
The problem I have is that since I have it installed it
- my mobile does not play a ringtone any more
- "slide to answer" and "show caller name+picture" is away
When I get the disc tomorrow ill post up the results.
This app will be very helpful if i get it working
As for the no ringtone issue I am not sure.
I would attach it... but i have no permissions...
@ fards: there are two versions. one for "Windows mobile 5"and the other one for "Windows mobile pocket pc" (here you can find it for WM6). the first is a UC versions. For this you need an internet connection and a uc-server running in your company. the other one is for normal mobile use. it calls via the phone connection the server and then your call is managed by the server.

you can find it here for free and you need no login
I do not see the HD2 listed as compatible device.
Did you get it working or still having problems?
How does the Avaya interface on the mobile phone look like?
Is it replacing the WM dialer completly or only while Avaya software is running in the background?
I have just installed it onto my HD2. The install hung at the end for about 20 mins. Reset device and the software has replaced my dialer. Appears to be working but im reading on how to configure the ini file now.
Tested on personal mode and call connected fine.
it replaces the dialer completly...
for the ini file you need the settings of your ACM. here you have to enter different extensions for each function...
you also has to to enter your mobile number in the ACM. Because your are identified via your number.
But can you test if you get a ringtone for incoming calls? thats my problem. I get no
Just to draw a conclusion to this This topic. This solution does not work correctly on HD2. Unless someone has managed to do this and has not shared?
sry... I was offline for a while... Does somesone find the solution?
No i gave up in the end..... bloody crap
