Activesync making BEEP every 5 minutes. How to disable? - General Topics

Hi guys
When I connect the phone with the usb cable activesync makes a BEEP every 5 minutes. I cannot find the registry key to disable this. Anyone know it?
BTW i'm trying to disable the BEEP when I press the red HANG key. I know the sound played is "dpadctl.mid" and I disable it on all the registry keys it appears, reset, and is still making that sound everytime i press that key.

It might help a little too if you told us what Phone Device you are using and what ROM/Radio you are using.

I don't think it helps too much since the registry keys for events are the same for all windows mobile phones with WM5 and WM6.
I got a TyTN (HERMES 200) with Super D-Lite ROM.

Please close thread.
I found the solution disabling the active sync sound. (well, that's more a workarround than a solution)
And for the HANG KEY i found more registry keys with the sound. I previously missed it cause i searched '\windows\dpadctl.mid' and not 'dpadctl.mid' directly.
I hope this is usefull for somebody.

Hey Man Im Having The Same Exact Problem On My T-Mobile Wing How Do I Disable That I Only Find That dpadctl Sound in Windows File Explorer windows/ Can You List A Step by Step to Disable It ?

does any one know where is the registry for the record butto

i have a ppc6700 and im here because alot of the forums i keep reading alway has a link to this site. it seem to help out alot of people, so im here woundering if any one knows where i can find the registry for the record hard button.
this is my problem. i have removed the junkware and some registry hacks to the ppc6700. when i did this, i asigned voicedial to the record hard button but instead of going to voicedial. it goes to wireless manager, the button setting show it's asigned to voicedial but i just dont understand why it doesn't go to it's asigned app or how to fix it.
djmadclass: I don't know if this is directly related, but one of your PPC6700 friends had a similar problem.

Two little issues with locking and backlight

Hi Guys,
There are a couple of things I've not been able to get working in the way I'm used to on my Artemis, just wondered if anyone can help....
1) The require password when device is not used for x minutes, when set to 0 minutes on my Artemis, would only ask me for the password if it was coming out of standby... I'm trying to get the Polaris to behave in the same way. The gotcha with this is that having edited the settings on the Artemis, it doesn't behave like this anymore
What's actually happening is that when set at 0 minutes the device locks right away. I've now set it to 1 hour but now when coming out of standby I don't have to put the password in unless I leave it for an hour... Which is what it sounds like it should do, but not what I want, or what it WAS doing!
2) My backlight doesn't come on until I have fully unlocked the device... So I can't see the keypad or unlock button in daylight. My Artemis doesn't do this, the backlight comes straight on.
Any ideas are welcome
Thanks
LP
Wouldn't mind knowing about a reg tweak for the backlight/lock issue myself...
Screenlock? and backgrond light
I'v managed to get a screenlock function to work really nice. The Polaris is now always locked on start, exept for Answer/Reject soft and hardware buttons, plus that I can shut down the ringing with the volume button. Really nice.
The program that does it is Autolock. You find it att http://www.intelliott.com
The backlight problem was solved via a register hack found on this site.
At
\HKCU\ControlPanle\Backlight\LockLevel
Rename the folder to LockLevelX.
Does work even if the handset is soft resetted.
Thanks peta§,
That reg hack works pretty well
Any chance of a little more detail on the registry tweak. The backlight issue is really starting to annoy me.
Thanks
I followed the instruction in this link. It was quite easy:

peta§,do u know any registry tweak in order to disable key lock permanently?
Cheers Peta,
Worked a treat however, I don't understand why this was not done at the manufacturing stage unless it was purely an oversight.
Thanks
I agree MusicArtist, it should be activated in WM6 from the start. It's very interesting what can happen when you take your phone out of the pocket when a reminder calls for your attention, or a SMS or call is incoming and you by mistake presses some functions on the activated screen.
dene3erw, disabling key lock permanently? I don't follow. Do you mean the Autolock?
If so, ýou can find an icon in the Program folder, just to tap on it. It enables/disables the function.

Vibrate Issue

I recently installed some applications on my Tilt and now my phone won't vibrate when I have an incoming call. I have tried to change ringtone in every place possible. I don't know if a registry listing has been deleted or if these programs are conflicting with each other. This is driving me insane, and I can't figure out what the next step should be.
The mechanism works, because when I soft reset the phone it vibrates before it loads.
Lastly, I have tried hard reset and then the vibrate works, but as soon as I start reinstalling these programs one of them causes this to happe. I am hoping not to do another hard reset. Any ideas and fixes would be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone know how to remap the button on HTC Headphones

Hi Guys,
Right here's the thing, ive got a T-Mobile MDA Vario III (HTC Kaiser). With all of the HTC devices ive had, they've come with headphones which have a call answer/end call button.
Now, when your not in a call and press the button it opens the Voice Speed Dial applet, basically the problem is ive installed Microsoft Voice Command and now the button wont open the Voce applet or MSVC, it just brings up the phone's dial pad?
My question is, is there a registry key somewhere that will allow me to set this button to activate MSVC or anything else i so wish?
Ive searched around and can't seem to find anything that will help me with this?
Thanks in advance.

Incoming call notification box problem

Hey guys,
I'm clearly a newbie here, been so for sumtime trying to learn while looking for tweaks and solutions, and I've been trying not to post so that I don't stupidly ask answered questions but unfortunately I have a problem that I need urgent fix. I've tried to search but haven't found what I need.
So here it is:
When I receive calls, the caller id and number seemed to be crunched together and unreadable under 1 line instead of usual 3 or 4. So I cant see who is calling me or from which number. This is rather important for my business to decide who to ignore and who to address properly.
I hope somebody can help me fix this.
For added info, I have made few registry changes and the last ones involve changing soft keys 112 and 113, and also installing HTC action screen before this problem.
Thanks guys!
I've never heard of this problem occuring, but I would recommend you skip stright to it and hard reset your PDA.
Backup all your files by connecting your PDA to your computer and copying over all the files you want to backup.
To backup all your PIM data (appointments, contacts, messages, call logs, speed dials and tasks) use a program called PIM Backup - details of this program can be found on this thread - Click Here
To hard reset a HTC Polaris, insert your stylus into the softreset hole and press it whilst pressing the 'Windows' and 'OK' buttons. Let go of the buttons 1-2 seconds after taking out the stylus. The send button is the green pickup call button, which you will be required to press to confirm you want to go ahead with the hard reset.
Hope this helps
I was hoping I didn't need to resort to that but I guess if that's the quickest easiest way.
Thanks for your help!!
Btw, which buttons do you mean by "windows button" and "Ok button" ??
Sorry thats the only thing I can advise you to do, but at least you will know that its probably the second best thing to do (apart from re-flashing the ROM).
Regarding the 'Windows' and 'OK' buttons, it is my bad that you probably cannot find them - the XDA Orbit 2 has these buttons, but the HTC Polaris has the 'GPS' and 'Internet Explorer' buttons instead. Basically, they are the two buttons under the pickup and hangup buttons.
Attached is a picture which may help you further.
Hope you get this problem sorted out.
