Hey guys,
I'm clearly a newbie here, been so for sumtime trying to learn while looking for tweaks and solutions, and I've been trying not to post so that I don't stupidly ask answered questions but unfortunately I have a problem that I need urgent fix. I've tried to search but haven't found what I need.
So here it is:
When I receive calls, the caller id and number seemed to be crunched together and unreadable under 1 line instead of usual 3 or 4. So I cant see who is calling me or from which number. This is rather important for my business to decide who to ignore and who to address properly.
I hope somebody can help me fix this.
For added info, I have made few registry changes and the last ones involve changing soft keys 112 and 113, and also installing HTC action screen before this problem.
Thanks guys!
I've never heard of this problem occuring, but I would recommend you skip stright to it and hard reset your PDA.
Backup all your files by connecting your PDA to your computer and copying over all the files you want to backup.
To backup all your PIM data (appointments, contacts, messages, call logs, speed dials and tasks) use a program called PIM Backup - details of this program can be found on this thread - Click Here
To hard reset a HTC Polaris, insert your stylus into the softreset hole and press it whilst pressing the 'Windows' and 'OK' buttons. Let go of the buttons 1-2 seconds after taking out the stylus. The send button is the green pickup call button, which you will be required to press to confirm you want to go ahead with the hard reset.
Hope this helps
I was hoping I didn't need to resort to that but I guess if that's the quickest easiest way.
Thanks for your help!!
Btw, which buttons do you mean by "windows button" and "Ok button" ??
Sorry thats the only thing I can advise you to do, but at least you will know that its probably the second best thing to do (apart from re-flashing the ROM).
Regarding the 'Windows' and 'OK' buttons, it is my bad that you probably cannot find them - the XDA Orbit 2 has these buttons, but the HTC Polaris has the 'GPS' and 'Internet Explorer' buttons instead. Basically, they are the two buttons under the pickup and hangup buttons.
Attached is a picture which may help you further.
Hope you get this problem sorted out.

hi friends of the net,
help pleeeease.
when i go into go into calendar i get numbers come up and not letters when the key pad is closed, if i open phone to type on key padi can get the letters, if any numbers have been entered already the numbers do not delete and i have to press the home key and then go back to it again before it lets me write anything, this also happens in internet explorer! after this has happened if i try to access contacts via home page or via menus it does not let me access them.
also my i bar/cursor vanishis sometimes when i am in text messaging.
tried factory reset and it still happens, also had a new phome sent out and the new one does the same!!!! assume its software fault on many phones.
Can you vox owners try these out...
This is regarding my friends phone, member - Wezog. Ive taken a look at the phone and im just wondering if any of you guys out there have these problems?
1 - Make sure your phone is closed (qwerty keyboard is hidden away), using the right soft key or by going into the start menu select the calendar application.
Once in here start typing an appointment, do you find that you have numbers appearing instead of letters?
Its as tho you cannot type any appointments using the keypad, but you have to open up the e650 and use the qwerty keyboard to enter information.
Do you HTC owners get the same problem or is it just the Orange e650 owners, or is it just my friend being unlucky? (being his 2nd phone to do exactly the same thing - hes let orange know about this but apparently has to decide what he wants to do)
2 - Once youve tried the Calendar above, exit out of it and then try and select CONTACTS as tho you were going to call someone either by using the left soft key or by actually going into Contacts in the start menu.
Do you find that Contacts dont display and nothing comes up? My mate has to then soft reset his phone to get things back to normal again.
Thanks in advance for your help, its very appreciated.
Cheers
Could someone try the steps below and post here...please
Would appreciate you guys following the steps below and letting me know if you get the problem, or not. Cheers.

Frankly - actions like creating an appointment is why I chose a phone with a QWERTY keyboard after all
But for the sake of your test I tried to create an appointment on my closed Vox and it worked.
Pressing a pad key repeatedly scrolls through its lowercase letters + the number, starting with the first letter. The *-key switches between lowercase and uppercase.
Contacts open and work normally after closing the Calendar.
I have an unbranded HTC S710 with the original ROM.
The behaviour you describe is definitely weird. And it happens also after a "Clear Storage" / Hard Reset ?
I want to map the green "phone" ("send") button to work as speakerphone with long keypress when phone is used, but I can't find any info.
OTOH I notice most ROMs use long press for this button and map usually wireless managers, which would be fine if it would work that way only when phone is not in use (and 'restore' the speakerphone function for long press when phone is in use) but I have not seen such solution yet. Has anyone done/try this?

Hi,
Deleting Long_Send.lnk might restore original function of long press send key sir,.
Hope it help,.
Regards
Unfortunately, I don't think you can have two different functions based on context. AdvancedConfig has an option to map pretty much anything to the long send.

Well, I was thinking about something more complex than I can do myself, hence my post here.
Idea is to make a small applet which will switch the function of the button based on the processes running (or other ways to determine it) and assigning different shortcut to this button. I.e. when the phone is connected it will assign speakerphone to the "send - long press", when phone is not in use it would redirect "send - long press" to the wireless manager, if you know what I mean (sorry my english); so virtually mapping the "green" button to this app could achieve that, no?
intersted also in your send key LKP!!

Bump....
I also want exactly the same setup! Great minds think alike!
Your mention about the wireless manager sounds a handy idea also, and I am at present having to use a long keypress on the left hand hardware 'record' button. This is fine, but I also have it mapped to normal press = audio record. But want to use it for something else at some point. The more buttons free the better. To be able to have the sent button act on a long key press to work the speakerphone seems to me like something that should actually be in place by default. I mean, what better way to start the speakerphone!!
I do hope someone is able to shed some light on this, or you manage to pull it off yourself you can count me in to try the fix etc.
PS:: Would a MORT SCRIPT help in this situation I wonder? I am not familiar with MS but sure someone may know a way round it.

Thanks for your kind support
I wrote about this year or more ago on another forum, but few responses I got were discouraging at best.
I think if we could do such "app", we could use it for all the buttons and change their "assignments" based on the currently running apps...
With scripts we can do things like rename "Long_Send.lnk" into "Long_Send.disabled" (for example) instantly, and rename it back to "Long_Send.lnk" when i.e. pressed again. But the problem is that I don't know how to "detect" and use it in the scripts what is currently running and discriminate between foreground and background processes that are currently running?
Because what if you have two (or more!) programs that are using the same button assignments but for different purposes and both are running in the same time? say you are on the phone talking - thus long_send is assigned to speakerphone, and you also run (for example) windows media player where you assigned same green button to fullscreen display? The scripts cannot tell which one is running in the foreground by themselves, and (in this example) holding green button could bring the WMP to fullscreen instead of turning on speakerphone. Beforewe use mortscript to "activate" apropiate script, we need to know which process was started last (so - per my example - we would know that the phone was last started and not the WMP, and mortscript would run "speakerphone script for green button" instead of "fullscreen wmp script for green button"... and there is another problem: the phone is always ON on our PocketPCs since boot, and it is running all the time in the background, so it will have to differentiate between phone being active and phone in the "waiting" state...). Apologies if I sound incomprejensible, I tried to make it clearer but I don't know is it less gibberish
to cut it short: I don't think it can be done with simple scripts. But of course I may be wrong.
In theory it should work this way:
1 Long_Send.lnk -> starts our "app"
2 "App" checks what program is currently running on the screen (in the forground, or last started etc)
3 "App" executes apropiate action assigned for this program (i.e. speakerphone for active phone call, or wireless manager for today screen, etc etc)
4 "App" releases/removes/disables the action from previous step and changes it back to the state it was before when the foreground program is closed (i.e. changes back long_send from assignment to speakerphone back to default once the phone call ended)
sounds simple, doesn't it?
Hi there,
One issue has been bothering me since my Wizard times until now: the lack of a calendar button on the "connected" page during a call. Many times I find myself fumbling with the stylus while in call to open the calendar in order to schedule or postpone a meeting. Am I the only one in this case? I couldn't find anything on the forum dealing with this. I'd be grateful if someone could point me to a solution even if possible reassign another button like contacts,note... beside reassigning a hardware button ( these are very rare on an Elfin ).
Thanks
I know it is my fault, I was using the Advanced Configuration Tool and thought I could make the screen on the x7510 more sensitive. The result was the opposite and the screen now won't respond to taps at all. So no possibility of screen input.
Without that, I can't use the same tool to put the settings back to what they were before, as it requires a screen tap to commit changes before re-booting. The absence of soft keys on the keyboard makes for problems here.
For the same reason, I can't hard reset using the Clear Storage tool, as that also requires a screen tap. I can't use Resco Registry Editor as that requires screen taps too.
So I am in somewhat of a quandary, happy to hard reset and start again, but no way of doing it that I can see.
Could I re-load the ROM? Someone uploaded the WWE version, but it unzips to three .raw files, which I have no idea what to do with.
Help please!! I need this as I am on holiday, I may be slow coming back to any replies, we are in Laos, where comms are, shall we say, a little slow, and we are travelling about. the first chance i get to sort this out I will use though.
Thanks for any help anyone can give.

If you have access to a PC onto which you may install software, then you can download and install MyMobiler, which is freeware. Get it here: www.mymobiler.com.
This will allow you to control your device from the PC, using the mouse, so you'd be able to make the changes you need to make.
Good luck!

For reference, I had this same problem yesterday. Didn't know of this thread at the time but managed to sort it out. It is completely possible to use the "clear storage" option in Settings>>System navigating using the keyboard. Fn>>OK brings up the start menu..navigate to settings using the cursor keys..press enter to select. Use TAB and cursor keys to navigate around across the tabs to "System" and again from there to "Clear Storage". Select whether to wipe the data stored on the device, on the flash disk or both using cursors/TAB, type "1234" and press the "OK" key. Done.
I had even managed to configure hardware buttons to the left/right soft keys to try to revert the settings in Advance Config, but it seems the effect of completely losing touch screen functionality is irreversible
Or you could obviously use the other method above which I didn't think to look for!! Like I said, just for reference. Might be useful to someone.
TIP: Don't change "Pressure Threshold" in Advanced Config to "Very High" as it will cause your touch screen to stop responding and the only way to get it back is by a hard reset.
Hi,
I'm on a Topaz with WinMo 6.5 Hebrew enabled but English interface.
Lately the number keys in the phone application are shifted one row down. I mean' when I press a number, the phone thinks I pressed the number one row below that. (i.e. If I press the place showing 5, an 8 will be dialed)
Oddly the "TALK" button and the "backspace" arrow button next to it do function normally, as does the whole screen in any other application.
My verbal explanation is not so clear, so please see the attachment. A screenshot with explanatory text.
Any idea what could have caused this? or how to fix it?
I was thinking about removing and re-installing the phone application, but don;t know how to do that, so any help in that direction would also be welcome.
Thanks!
~Azaria.
