hi friends of the net,
help pleeeease.
when i go into go into calendar i get numbers come up and not letters when the key pad is closed, if i open phone to type on key padi can get the letters, if any numbers have been entered already the numbers do not delete and i have to press the home key and then go back to it again before it lets me write anything, this also happens in internet explorer! after this has happened if i try to access contacts via home page or via menus it does not let me access them.
also my i bar/cursor vanishis sometimes when i am in text messaging.
tried factory reset and it still happens, also had a new phome sent out and the new one does the same!!!! assume its software fault on many phones.
Can you vox owners try these out...
This is regarding my friends phone, member - Wezog. Ive taken a look at the phone and im just wondering if any of you guys out there have these problems?
1 - Make sure your phone is closed (qwerty keyboard is hidden away), using the right soft key or by going into the start menu select the calendar application.
Once in here start typing an appointment, do you find that you have numbers appearing instead of letters?
Its as tho you cannot type any appointments using the keypad, but you have to open up the e650 and use the qwerty keyboard to enter information.
Do you HTC owners get the same problem or is it just the Orange e650 owners, or is it just my friend being unlucky? (being his 2nd phone to do exactly the same thing - hes let orange know about this but apparently has to decide what he wants to do)
2 - Once youve tried the Calendar above, exit out of it and then try and select CONTACTS as tho you were going to call someone either by using the left soft key or by actually going into Contacts in the start menu.
Do you find that Contacts dont display and nothing comes up? My mate has to then soft reset his phone to get things back to normal again.
Thanks in advance for your help, its very appreciated.
Cheers
Could someone try the steps below and post here...please
Would appreciate you guys following the steps below and letting me know if you get the problem, or not. Cheers.

Frankly - actions like creating an appointment is why I chose a phone with a QWERTY keyboard after all
But for the sake of your test I tried to create an appointment on my closed Vox and it worked.
Pressing a pad key repeatedly scrolls through its lowercase letters + the number, starting with the first letter. The *-key switches between lowercase and uppercase.
Contacts open and work normally after closing the Calendar.
I have an unbranded HTC S710 with the original ROM.
The behaviour you describe is definitely weird. And it happens also after a "Clear Storage" / Hard Reset ?

Hey all,
I need some help. Like a dummy I flashed my phone yesterday for the first time in a long while. I've been using a ROM that I believe stated something about being the only one actually compatible with the Wizard (something about not turning the screen back on when plugging in the wall power charger).
Anyway, my real question is that I'm trying to find out what dialer it was using. From what I remember it was an all black dialer with red end button and green call button. When the phone was not in a call it would allow you to scroll up and down in the call history within the dialer (not bringing up the seperate call history). It also allowed you to start entering a number and it would suggest from the contacts and call history as you type (which most do now anyway). I would really like to find a way to get that dialer back and put it in my current ROM (the Wing port named boring rom for T-Mobile). I appreciate any help!
Thanks!
Ok, so I guess it's the default one that comes with most ROMs, what I need to know is how can I get it to replace the one in the Boring Rom (light blue currently)?
You have to turn off the phone skin
You can do some search about this and find out how(open registry using a registry editor Go to HKLM\Security\Phone\Skin and make the Enabled Value 0)
Load a ROM which will not have the Touch dialer like TNT which I'm using right now
hmm, so it's just a skin and the default is the black one? I tried making that key 0 but when I reset it is back to being 1... Is there something I'm doing wrong? I'm using PHM Registry Editor...
Thanks again!
After changing the key to 0 use any software to reset the phone not the stylus
You can use psShutXp
Stylus is OK, just wait for at least 30 seconds after changing the values.

Wow, well that's interesting to know. Works like a charm! Thanks a bunch!
Anyone experience the following problem ?
I tap onto the "Contact" button at the main screen and instead of showing me all my contact numbers, it was all blank. I fired up the HTC Cube and surprisingly, all my phone numbers that are stored under the "Favorite Contact" were all missing! There were no numbers/pictures. I had to do a soft reset and then all my contacts are back again. But I had to manually add all my favourte contacts back in to the Touch Cube again. This happened twice to me.
Another issue is that when i press the "Contact" button at the main screen, usually my contact list will appear and then on the right side it shows the alphabetical order right ? Just like the following :
#
A
B
C
D
E
.
.
.
.
Z
Today, it somehow disappeared. Did i disable it or anything ? Is it possible to disable ?
I noticed that my contacts disappeared whenever I disconnected from the Internet. This was because Windows Live Synch Options were configured to "As Items Arrive" and I also synchronized my contacts directly from Hotmail. After I changed the Sync frequency to "Every 15 minutes" my TC was much faster and contacts stayed in the contact list everytime I was offline. Don't know if this is the problem in your case but hope it helps.
Hmn.. I don't think thats my problem because I don't synchronize my contacts directly from hotmail.
Anyway, thanks for responding still!
Under contacts, go to
Menu > options
The first option is "Show alphabetical index".
Make sure it's UNCHECKED. This should bring the HTC random access back (the grey alphabetical strip).
If it's already unchecked, check it, go back to contacts and then repeat the process, unchecking it this time.
Good luck.
Ok.. that works... but how come it happened it the first place ? I didn't check it. It just disappear.

Genius, fixed it for me, thanks
i have the same problem with the alphabet scroll bar. sometimes when i open contacts from the contacts soft key it appears as a nomal scroll bar i do a soft reset and its back to normal. not sure why it disappears though.
Yeah I've seen the alphabet scroll bar disappear before, haven't noticed a pattern yet. I didn't need to soft reset to get it back though, not 100% sure so don't quote me.
Polaris - Touch Cruse not keeping certain settings.
I have the same issue and the fix work for me also. I lose the A – Z list on the right side when I shut the phone down. I also lose the selected keypad and TomTom from the today screen even though it is selected to be there and the same kind of fix works. I don’t even have to uncheck it and recheck it. I can just go to Start, settings, Today and then Items and see the list but just hit OK and then it’s back. For the keypad I have to select the one I want again. This seems to happen every time I have to power it all the way down.
I had the same issue; now it's fixed... THX!!
Touch Cruise - Contacts - Missing alphabetical list
I had same problem, checking and unchecking ths Show alphabetical index helped, weird...
Hey guys,
I'm clearly a newbie here, been so for sumtime trying to learn while looking for tweaks and solutions, and I've been trying not to post so that I don't stupidly ask answered questions but unfortunately I have a problem that I need urgent fix. I've tried to search but haven't found what I need.
So here it is:
When I receive calls, the caller id and number seemed to be crunched together and unreadable under 1 line instead of usual 3 or 4. So I cant see who is calling me or from which number. This is rather important for my business to decide who to ignore and who to address properly.
I hope somebody can help me fix this.
For added info, I have made few registry changes and the last ones involve changing soft keys 112 and 113, and also installing HTC action screen before this problem.
Thanks guys!
I've never heard of this problem occuring, but I would recommend you skip stright to it and hard reset your PDA.
Backup all your files by connecting your PDA to your computer and copying over all the files you want to backup.
To backup all your PIM data (appointments, contacts, messages, call logs, speed dials and tasks) use a program called PIM Backup - details of this program can be found on this thread - Click Here
To hard reset a HTC Polaris, insert your stylus into the softreset hole and press it whilst pressing the 'Windows' and 'OK' buttons. Let go of the buttons 1-2 seconds after taking out the stylus. The send button is the green pickup call button, which you will be required to press to confirm you want to go ahead with the hard reset.
Hope this helps
I was hoping I didn't need to resort to that but I guess if that's the quickest easiest way.
Thanks for your help!!
Btw, which buttons do you mean by "windows button" and "Ok button" ??
Sorry thats the only thing I can advise you to do, but at least you will know that its probably the second best thing to do (apart from re-flashing the ROM).
Regarding the 'Windows' and 'OK' buttons, it is my bad that you probably cannot find them - the XDA Orbit 2 has these buttons, but the HTC Polaris has the 'GPS' and 'Internet Explorer' buttons instead. Basically, they are the two buttons under the pickup and hangup buttons.
Attached is a picture which may help you further.
Hope you get this problem sorted out.
Hi,
I'm on a Topaz with WinMo 6.5 Hebrew enabled but English interface.
Lately the number keys in the phone application are shifted one row down. I mean' when I press a number, the phone thinks I pressed the number one row below that. (i.e. If I press the place showing 5, an 8 will be dialed)
Oddly the "TALK" button and the "backspace" arrow button next to it do function normally, as does the whole screen in any other application.
My verbal explanation is not so clear, so please see the attachment. A screenshot with explanatory text.
Any idea what could have caused this? or how to fix it?
I was thinking about removing and re-installing the phone application, but don;t know how to do that, so any help in that direction would also be welcome.
Thanks!
~Azaria.
What is the right forum for this question?
It really bothers me, so really want to solve it.
Hello! Long time user, but noob on a windows 7 phone, It has some problems.... when you type on the on screen keyboard, you cant type a message properly, its like there is bad calibration issues, but when you try to ring a number, all the numbers work okay, is there a way to calibrate the screen? also calculator works okay, also some options you cant click on say for instance, the logging into windows marketplace, you cant enter your email address but can enter password??? WTF HELP!!!!!!!!!!!
Your primary Windows Live ID (the one used for Marketplace) is set and locked when the phone is first run. If you messed up then, you'll need to hard-reset the phone and start again. Actually, you may want to do that anyhow.
I don't know any user-accessible way to calibrate the touch screen on an HTC phone. It shouldn't need it, though. Note that the on-screen keyboard does have some tricky predictive stuff that means it may occasinally think you ment to hit a key next to the one you tapped. You can turn this off in Settings. However, it should never hit more than about half a finger-width from what you actually tapped, and I very rarely see that much. Tapping squarely on a specific key should always work. You can also make the keys larger (most of the time) by putting the phone in landscape (rotate it).
