AT&T With HTC America!

I just want to say up front that I love HTC products.
Here's what happened when I called AT&T about an exchange on my HTC 8525. I called told them that I loved the phone however the keyboard never has lit up which is a inconvenience when sitting in a bar trying to send a text & I would like to do a manufacture warranty exchange . I went through the verification & was asked if the void sticker was white or red, they asked if the scren was ok which it was. I was asked if it had been droped & if it had any gouges, I said it had been droped & the case was scracthed a little like any used phone. They said there would be a 490.00 charge if there was a gouge on the phone which the was not. I get the new phone & was having a problem with MEdia NET & it was brought to my attention that my bill would be over 600.00 when cows fly I told them. I then unlocked the CID & SIM went to T-Mobile & signed a contract with them. I saw the new Wing & asked if the OS would work on my phone & was told yes except for the WiFi & infared. Knowing there was a patch for WiFi & not using the Infared it sounded good to me. I e-mailed HTC America & this iis how helpful they were!
Thank you for your inquiry regarding ROM update.

We understand how important this can be. We manufacture devices for various carriers and each model have an individual ROM with carrier specific features. ROM available is specific to a particular model and cannot be used for another model. You cannot use the carrier branded model ROM update for your device. You need to use your model specific ROM update.
Currently, our developers are working with HTC devices and Windows Mobile 6 to determine what devices will be offered an upgrade. Unfortunately, there is no estimated time for availability. The ROM needs to be downloaded on a computer and the file cannot be run from a storage card.

All I can say is what jerks. I called T-Mobile & got the info needed. As soon a I use up my 1000 plus minutes I'll put the new SIM in & download the T-Mobile cab's. I'm buying the Wing or S730 seeing how I can getit for 299.00 after rebates. I'll not pay there 600.00 plus bill & I filled an AG complaint against the both of them. WHAT JERKS!

[Q] Anyone Heard of "HARDLOCK" for Android phone?

Hello everyone,
Recently I bought a HTC hero locked to 3 UK in white color from ebay. I then bought an unlocking code for it from ebay again as the phone is for my friend in India.
I had a few problems with the unlocking seller and I left him a negative feedback last night. He has now replied threatening me that I have 24 hrs to remove the feedback or he will, and I quote, "HARDLOCK" my phone forever. The phone will become unusable completely according to him.
Now I work for Orange UK customer services myself and I do understand "BLACKLISTING" and would like to confirm from you guys that if this is what he is threatening me with or there is another way to "HARDLOCK" Android phones which make them unusable. Obviously he has my IMEI no. which I had to give him to generate the unlocking code.
The seller is also a registered USA seller and that makes me think that if there is something else called "HARDLOCK" as not sure how will he manage to blacklist my phone from USA. And if it is the blacklisting he is on about then I suppose I don't have anything to worry as the phone is going to be used in India anyway.
I have reported the emails under harrasment to ebay already and will be reporting it to police as well.
Please someone shed some light on this and thanks in advance

[Q] Help please!

hello,i'm a new member here and this is my first post.Since my Galaxy ace broke i'm looking to find a new phone and i think i'm going with the desire s.I found this guy on ebay who sells his used desire s as faulty and claims it can't make or receive calls inside the u.k but after i asked him he said that it will work ok outside the u.k.Is that possible or is he lying.I really need some help on whether i should or shouldn't buy this phone.Thank you in advance and sorry for my english!
Well you can try to ask the guy where, more precisely, the problem comes from...
If it's a hardware issue (antenna?), i don't think the phone will be able to receive or send calls, neither in the UK, nor anywhere else. On the other hand, if it's a ROM / settings / software issue, it will probably be possible to fix it by installing a new ROM...
However if you need to change your phone, it's just my opinion but I'd rather go to a more recent model like the One S or One X... Not the same price though I agree.
Hope this helps
It could be the stolen phone and blocked by networks in the uk
Sent from my HTC Desire S using xda premium
try flashing the newest Radio Image.
Flashing a new radio won't do a thing if the phone is registered as lost or stolen, which is going to be the case unfortunately.
EDIT: If you get the IMEI number from him you can check it at http://www.checkmend.com/uk/ for a small fee.
If it is not getting signal in the UK only then it is because the phone has been lost/stolen and the owner has rang up the network and they have put a block on it
I would say its stolen and the original owner has reported it to there provider who has blocked the phone.
If you buy it you could be buying stolen goods, mrbishi is right get the IMEI number and check it.

[Q] My Samsung Omnia 7 suddenly got reported lost/stolen...

Hi,
In November 2010, I purchased a Samsung Omnia 7 from Computer Exchange (where they sell 2nd hand tech equipment) for the early adopter price (£425). It was locked to the "3" network but i eventually found a seller on ebay selling unlock codes from a user named nckzone and the unlock code worked nicely. However, on saturday I found that I was unable to make calls. I gave my carrier T-mobile a call from a seperate number and they told me that the phone has been blacklisted or in otherwords, it got reported as lost/stolen...
I was advised to ask the seller of the unlock code about the issue however he isnt responding.
I was wondering how to go about this situation...this phone cost me some serious cash and im not even due to get a new phone yet. What should I do?
I'm thinking about reporting this problem to the police since I have all my documents and proof but I hear its possible to change the IMEI number. Im really bugged at the moment.

Click to collapse
The only thing you can do is go to the police..
check your phone's IMEI against what is written on the sticker / your box (to check IMEI type *#06#)
If it is different 100% that the 'unlocker' is at fault and he f-ed up your phone.
Otherwise somebody has created a false report with the police in which case the problem can be solved by going to the police and they can look up who filed the report and have it all undone (of course bring the box + purchase proof with you).
Also another good tip for many many people looking for (free) unlock codes. Don't post your IMEI everywhere!!!! Doing that will result in this exact situation and if you did this, all this is 100% your own fault.
take care

[Completed] T-Mobile Blocked my IMEI on used phone

Hi Im new here and needed some clarification regarding an issue with my IMEI on my T mobile Note 2. I bought it used back in June off of a facebook buy and sell group to fix it up and sell it. At the time I bought it, it had a clean IMEI, and the people who sold me the phone told me they were the original owners. a few weeks ago, I again checked the imei, and it was still clean.
Now Im about to sell the phone, but I check one more time and now its blacklisted on T mobile and Metro, but clean on ATT and Verizon according ti imeidata.net. I check tmobiles website and it says its been reported lost. Im going to try to contact the people who sold it to me, and if they wont help me, Ill be contacting Tmobile and Asurion. After doing some research about what else I can do, Ive came up with a few options, but I still need some advice.
1. Sell as is and cut my losses
2. Sell on ebay to someone outside of US
3. Sell for parts
If I sell it to someone outside the country, how do I know it will work wherever the buyer is? I have no intention if screwing anyone over and want to make sure they get what they pay for.
How can I protect myself from this happening in the future? Is there a way to get the IMEI numbers of future phones signed over to my name, even if Im not a customer of that phones carrier?
Also, if imeidata.net says its only blacklisted on Tmobile/metro, can it be used on other American networks?
I really appreciate any help with this. Thanks.
One more thing I forgot to mention...when I bought it, it was running android 4.1.2. I downgraded it to 4.1.1 to unlock it and its still running 4.1.1 incase the unlock procedure didnt work and I need to try again. Not sure if this is relevant to the imei issue but Im just putting it out there.
Hi,
If it's blocked, it's blocked. No one can help you with that legally. Sorry.
Whether it works in other carriers.... I would doubt it. Usually blacklists are across all carriers in North America.
And as far as protecting yourself in the future, you can't really. Buying a used phone is always going to be a gamble. Nothing you can do about that except try to buy from a reputable source or individual.
Good luck!
