either dropped it or....you pulled out the earphones jack quickly,,,,
try put the earphones back again....twist it left and right and pull it out while twisting it....
this solution did work when i had a problem not hearing anything from external speakers only from earphones....so...try it...MAYBE it will help,,,
HEY THATS IN CASE YOU DIDNT DROP IT....
dust/rust/humid prob.
Maybe you need to shower your whole Universal Motherboard & all hardware parts with WD40. Don't worry it does'nt hurts anything, & make sure you don't use any static current equipment to wash that WD40.
Don't clean WD40 with any cloth, cotton or any ear bud or anything else.
Just let it dry & absorb by itself for 2-3 hrs & then turn your unit ON.
Damaged 3.5 jack - Solved!!
Your 3.5 mm jack could be damaged, I do not why but it is a huge problem with the uni and with the s200, this problem happend to me and the solution was trying to reordenate the pines of the 3.5 jack.
You could see more tips in the s200 forum.
Hopes could help.

Hallo,
I upgraded my MDA to version 1.12 from Qtek, all works well, but I don't hear the person I call or answer. If I hold the phone (green) button for 2 seconds it switches to the backspeaker and than I can hear the person talk.
Does anybody know how to fix this !!! Help
Try inserting a headphone plug and remove it, this will prolly fix your issue.
can you tell me how to upgrade ?
I already download the mkBigStorage112.nb1 file

No, I plugged in a headphone and pulled out, but still no sound from the front speaker. Rearspeaker and BT headphone works well.
Anybody?
I noticed that the front speaker works when I have no sd card inserted, when I insert the memorycard again I have no sound from the front speaker.
Well by testing if its a software problem or mechanical it looks like it is mechanical, but is it?
Strange ??? Anybody
You would need to do a hard reset and see if the problem persists with no additional programs installed. Backup first though.
Yes, I did all I can do, but the problem is still there. I guess that the SD slot makes conntection with the microfoon or the front unit.
Oke, I screwd my MDA open and I looked how I had to put it back to gether again. When I opend it, I swa that this was not a brtand new MDA but I guess it has been repaired a few times, because I found pices of the seal every where. When I opend the back unit from the front unit my frontspeaker just fell out. So I guess that they forgett to screw this tinny PCB on. After I put it all together again, he works fine. The sound is now comming from the front speaker with or without the SD card inside.
Oke, for all of you don't do this at home unless you are prepared to buy a new one.
colderon,
I also am having the same problem and think it could be a "loose wire" or cruddy slip in the manufacturing. I will attempt the same. Was it just the two screws on the back at the bottom to start, then as it comes apart more of them. Thanks for your help!
Todd
Yes, their are two screws on the back pcb. Then their is a small sqaure connector at one site this one can be taken off, no the large connector with their cellotape. Oke now comes the tricky part, their is an other mall pcb, about 2 cm by 1/2 cm. This one has also an connector, but the small pcb/unit is glued to the SD card holder with dubble sided tape. You have to be very carefull an try first getting something between this small pcb and the sd card holder. If you pull the back pcb from the front pcb the connector will brake off and you have to buy an new small pcb. This small pcb is the unit that connects the front speaker and contains the signal leds (poweled, Bluetooth).
If have no clue what this small unit will cost me, but my is also broken. Somehow it works, but the signal leds don't lite.
Ik hope this will help you
I'm in the states and had the same problem, I ended up taking it apart myself and finding 2 things, 1 the speaker was bad, this is the same speaker as the n-gage or nokia 6610 either is available on e-bay. the other was the actual board that carries the audio has a plug on one end and the plug had a lousy solder job, for this you will have to find a local electronics repair shop, and hope they can solder as well as the guy here, since it all is surface mount technology. over all the soldering cost me $20 and the speaker cost me $10
Same problem, no sound this morning.
I remove the SD card, sound came back.
I put the Sd, sound still there.
But when I change the volume, no more sound...
What a #~{#[# bug
I tried to open my Jam 2 times and I quit... I'm afreaid to broke something... Where are the old times that everything had a screw and was so easy to unassemble???
I dont know what happend suddenly the speaker phone stopped working when I Was on speaker phone mode. I restarted the phone and tried all different kinds of ****. Finally I popped open the back camera cover and I could see the speaker. I was playing something on my Windows media and I could not hear anything. The moment I touuched the speaker with the stylus it started playing loudly but the moment I pull the stylus back it stops working. Can some one please explain me what is the problem with my speakers. Do I need to replace them ? if yes then where can I get them replaced in United states.
Yes mate, I had the same problem. I have a HTC Charmer and my speaker died while using tomtom. I openned and discovered the same thing, that touching the speaker causes it to respond again and dies again. Its basically the speaker "moved" too much for its own good and the wire carrying signal to its coil got damaged/broken.
While you could temporarily fix it by trying to glue the broken wire, it may not do any good. And can't solder it as the wire is stuck on the speaker cone surface which is plastic. For a few days mine worked by placing a flexible peice of plastic in such a way that it constantly applied very light pressure on the place where the wire was broken, and the contact was maintained, but obviously such a solution is short lived.
At present I am also looking for where to buy a spare speaker from, but can't help you in this regard as am in UK.
Hope this helps in some way.
Happened to my Prophet. It's currently away for a warranty repair.
Seems like a very common problem.
I have some troubles with my headset input. It's broken down and i cant repair it. The main problem is that i cant talk through phone becouse device "thinks" that the headset is in... Loudspeaker doesnt work...
Whats the most funny in it? i can talk through devices microphone only with pluged headset. Simply, with pluged headset phone works normaly (i can listen to music, call, talk by loudspeaker)
I guess i will not repair it so is it possible to disable default headset profile, or disconnect, turn off this profile or headset input?
Im owner of Qtek 8310, WM6 Standard v3.7 (FINAL!)
Thx in advance, greeting
There's no software hack that I've heard of. I've always assumed that insertion of the connector into the jack was like flipping a hardware switch.
Maybe be brave and disassemble and clean out your phone? Check if something's jammed in the jack?
I've had such a problem couple of months ago. I sent my phone to the customers service and they replaced the jackplug. After replacing, all works fine.
well, as u can see im from poland. Where should i send my phone?
Can u give me an adress, please? How much is it if i tell them to repair that input and exchange cover? (my cover looks awful, its destroyed)
Thx for answers,
Well, I bought it online (via a dutch webshop), so I could send my phone to a repaircentre wicht they have a contract with. Maybe the place where you bought it offers such a service?
I had the same problem on my qtek 8310!
The problem can be fixed if you got some electro spray!
If you spray some on your headset and take it in and out a few times, it should solve the problem
is that like compressed air?
I had the same issue with my 2125 when i first got it. It never thought I took the headset out. What worked to me was taking an uncoated paperclip, unfold it, and wiggle it around in the headphone jack until the PROFILE went from HEADSET back to NORMAL. May not be the case for you, but....

I think it's called "contact spray"
I also faced this problem, wiggling the the headset plug in the jack seemed to help, never ran into the problem again.

i found the solution.. here's how it goes
play some music, then take your jack, push it in, then start pulling it out slowly level by level, until u hear the sound playing from the speaker again, when you do, pull out the jack fast. that solved my problem, hope htis help others too.
if the handsfree is connected i can hear anyone who calls and they can hear me... if i remove it... no would both ways and no speaker either.
how can i solve this... is there someway i can disable the handsfree function by software and enable it whenever i need it?

hi and welcome to the forum.
well you can try to upgrade the radio rom. it might solve the problem. if it doesn't then it should be a hardware problem..
here you can find radio rom
http://vidmes.com/xda/Uni/Radios/
here is the guide for upgrading the radio rom...

i tried the radio upgrade, still the same thing happens..
does anyone know which part of the hardware could be faulty or if any of the soldering was broken inside createing an open circuit somewhere.

Its hardware!!
HI man!!
Im electronic technician, check your speaker with ohmeter, must be continuity (betwen 0 ohm and .300ohm) also check missplaced, unsolded or broken components in mother board and interfaz board (conection speaker board). If the speaker measure good and no missplaced components,,,sorry man the "Audio Codec Chip controller" are damaged
Sound Problem Too
Hi AIN1 i think u may help me too with an idea, My Imate Jasjar has a sound proplem; it stay with no sound all the time and sounds only when i tap/hit a little on front left speaker, i opened it up and removed the motherboard but i failled to find the loose part??? Pls help.
yeah
You haven`t sound in all of three speakers of your UNI??? (Two speakers on front and the speaker of phone?) this is bad you will need to fix the mother board, your last chance is: blow hard in the audio jack conector may be is in short with a metal residue from pin of handsfree or the internal pins of the jack conector are damaged. I think it is the problem, fin a reposal part to change it, go to a technical repairment for celular phones, may be need to adapt a similar or diferent part to fix it. Now Im sure is the jack conector check it plis.
When someone call you , does the device ring normally or still no sound , if so you have a little a problem with audio jack . I can explain after your reply .. sorry for bad english
sound problem fixed
ok... after the sound problem... it started giving me a "no sim found/detected" error
i got it fixed at an i-mate technician he replaced the handsfree socket and the controller IC ... presto... its running wild now less than 30$ to fix

Hello guy,
since several weeks ago, my Desire has been acting strange..actually the right speaker of the headphone is not as loud as the left side...it goes normal again after I sake or move or twist the connection to the phone..
I have tried many ROMs and several headphones...the problem is still there...
I believe it is because the female plug on the phone is perhaps dirty, but I tried to use the PCB cleaner by spraying it inside the female plug...the problem is still there...
I wonder if anyone can give me an idea how to clean it?....or how to fix it...I just hope it is not broken or partly broken...
I have a similar problem, although luckily for me it only happens with the headphones that came with the Desire - my other headphones work fine.
Please let us know if you figure out a fix, I have a feeling that the headphone socket in mine is on its way out and will end up like yours sooner or later...
I cleaned the socket with alcohol and interdental brush...it is clean now...but the lower volume on the right side headphone is still there once in a while.
I tried also (as described before) several ROMs and several headphones/sets...I think the socket is beginning to age....hmmm...I will try for warranty claim since the warranty is still valid for the next 10 months...now...gotta unroot...

I've had a similar problem to this and I fixed it by first using a pin to bend the contacts slightly inward then using alcohol and a cotten bud to clean them.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
