I have some troubles with my headset input. It's broken down and i cant repair it. The main problem is that i cant talk through phone becouse device "thinks" that the headset is in... Loudspeaker doesnt work...
Whats the most funny in it? i can talk through devices microphone only with pluged headset. Simply, with pluged headset phone works normaly (i can listen to music, call, talk by loudspeaker)
I guess i will not repair it so is it possible to disable default headset profile, or disconnect, turn off this profile or headset input?
Im owner of Qtek 8310, WM6 Standard v3.7 (FINAL!)
Thx in advance, greeting
There's no software hack that I've heard of. I've always assumed that insertion of the connector into the jack was like flipping a hardware switch.
Maybe be brave and disassemble and clean out your phone? Check if something's jammed in the jack?
I've had such a problem couple of months ago. I sent my phone to the customers service and they replaced the jackplug. After replacing, all works fine.
well, as u can see im from poland. Where should i send my phone?
Can u give me an adress, please? How much is it if i tell them to repair that input and exchange cover? (my cover looks awful, its destroyed)
Thx for answers,
Well, I bought it online (via a dutch webshop), so I could send my phone to a repaircentre wicht they have a contract with. Maybe the place where you bought it offers such a service?
I had the same problem on my qtek 8310!
The problem can be fixed if you got some electro spray!
If you spray some on your headset and take it in and out a few times, it should solve the problem
is that like compressed air?
I had the same issue with my 2125 when i first got it. It never thought I took the headset out. What worked to me was taking an uncoated paperclip, unfold it, and wiggle it around in the headphone jack until the PROFILE went from HEADSET back to NORMAL. May not be the case for you, but....

I think it's called "contact spray"
I also faced this problem, wiggling the the headset plug in the jack seemed to help, never ran into the problem again.

i found the solution.. here's how it goes
play some music, then take your jack, push it in, then start pulling it out slowly level by level, until u hear the sound playing from the speaker again, when you do, pull out the jack fast. that solved my problem, hope htis help others too.

perhaps anyone else encountered the same issue - i don't know any further with this:
after flashing the o2 xda mini german with the bigstorage rom from: ftp.xda-developers.com/Magician/BigStorage_ROMs/DE_O2_1.12.01.zip
via sd/boot-method the speaker doesn't seem to work anymore correct.
it seems like the speaker on the back of the magician is only working when a call comes in, but not for alerts, sounds or a mp3player like mortplayer or wmplayer.
also the speaker and the mic at the front of the mini aren't working.
so i flashed the device again with the original rom, but it isn't working anymore, also not with all the other available roms.
so i tried to adjust the preamp with no success.
let's see if i wake up tomorrow without a bell
I believe you have a hardware problem and has nothing to do with the ROM. There are threads and a PDF file showing how to dismantle and fix the speaker contact.
hmm i don't think so - why should it play the ring sound when someone calls? i also checked if it is the speaker on the back side which is playing the ring sounds - and: yes - it's the one on the back side
No sounds after just 6 months of use on my O2 Xda II mini!
Hi lindsche:
I also have the same problem - no sound coming out of my O2 Xda II mini EXCEPT for the ringtone for incoming calls. I have not installed any new software on my device and I have only had and used this device for 6 months! The only way I can hear anything from the device (including phone conversations) is through the use of the audio ear phones. I have been in contact with O2 Technical Support from the Asia Pacific Region (where my device was purchased) who have been suggesting all kinds of different resets stuff to no avail thus far.
By the way, where is the speaker located on this device??
Any advice would be much appreciated.
yeah, i think its hardware too, i had the same experiance with my wallaby (siemens sx56). The problem was from the audio jack. There is a small switch inside the jack that stuck so the device thinks that you are using handsfree. i tried to plug and unplug it but it make the problem worst. if been looking for the jack parts everywhere but couldnt find one. so when i got my new magician, i always plug and unplug the handsfree very very very carefully.
to upcityhighroller and lindsche: i believe your problem is in your audio jack. if you able to hear the ringtone, but not able to hear phone conversation and other sound, that means your phone thinks you are using the handsfree. best think you can do is check inside the jack with flashlight , make sure its clean and nothing stuck inside.
as per someone else's advice found in this forum, i tapped the device against my palm and the sound came back! i'm very happy EXCEPT now my power button won't work!! my temporary solution is to unlock the buttons so that I can turn on the device using any of the other buttons but now I also have NO other way to shut the device down! (I'm force to wait for 2 minutes of inactivity before it shuts down.)
Any suggestions??
Many thanks!
Not able to pick a phone call using handsfree ear phone.
Hi !
Bought O2 XDA mini, a couple of weeks ago....
I am not able to pick any call when handsfree is connected to O2 mini. I can the hear the ringing tone and listen MP3 too using the handsfree....
I have tried the handsfree on another O2 mini phone and is working absolutely fine...
I called the O2 service center and they asked me to do hard reset....
If it still does not work, they have asked me to give it to service center for repair...
I was wondering if anyone had experienced the same problem... If so, what is the resolution.??
kindly share your views... thanks.
-Raj
hey i had a simialr problem.......even i hard resetted but the problem persisted.....but when i charged my battery it worked fine...i guess our phone doesnt accept calls if the battery is below 20%
I was desperatly searching the net for a solution and did what you guys were talking about and tried cleaning the headphone jack, i recommend using an air compressor and while u have music playin in media player just gently blow air into the jack, and if that doesn't work try a little more air, the air seemed to clean most of the dust and whatnot that had clogged it, i just had to give it some firm but gentle taps with my palm and and it works fine now. Releived, as i was just about to buy a second hand replacement
Have the same problem with my Mini.
Couldnt hear and be heard during calls, brought the phone to the service center,
they replaced the hardware yet in the end they couldnt figure out whats wrong.
Im using 1.12 right now do you think it would help if i upgrade or downgrade my ROM?
Need your inputs on this guys!
Thanks in advance.
I have 3 jamin ( I and my friend).
after 4 mounth when I reject the handfree the sound is not functoin right.
this mean when I cancel handfree the sound isn't go to speaker. and when put in again ofhen work and sometimes not.
I think my phone have hardware problem.
in my country this haven't a good warranty.
Might be hardware-switch in 2.5mm headset connector
I possibly had a similar experience:
-With headset everything was fine.
- Without headset the speaker and microphone were dead.
- The speaker did rang on incoming calls, so it wasn't defect.
Because I lately switched to 'Fantastic 1.1' rom (whis indeed is fantastic) I suspected software-malfunction, searched half a day for software and registry solutions and fussed with the registry. No result.
Finally, i stumbled to a posting that explained the behaviour. Within the 2.5mm headset connector is a tiny (more precisely 'lousy') hardware-switch, that tells the phone if there is a headset connected or not.
When that switch failes (in my case beacuase of a lot of dust), the phone acts as if an headset is connected.
So with no warranty left I opened the phone (very) carefully, cleaned the connector, fiddled with the switch and sound was ok.
Be carefull trying though, I think it's a good opportunity to ruin your phone.
Good luck.
hello.
i have a problem with my universal:
i can't get my speaker phone to work (the phone doesn't ring, and no sound can be heard (media player or any program)
the speaker located in the lcd works, so i can hear when i talk with someone
i temporarly changed both speakers with 2 that work, and there is the same problem.
i changed the rom, but no change
anyone have any ideeas about what the problem is ? (and perhaps a solution ?)
thank you.
maybe an internal bus break if you tested the connections with known working speakers

I occasionally get this problem after I've used the headphone socket - it's as though the socket gets stuck and thinks that there's still a jack in there, and so mutes the external speakers. I find that pushing the kacj in again, giving it a wiggle, and pulling it out normally does the trick.
Cheers,
Steve.

i've just tried this with some headphones (i hear normally through them), but wiggling and pulling it doesnt do the trick
a broken bus? there's no way to fix it without a lot of expertise, knowledge and specialized equipment. Sorry...
the experience part is the one thing that i need
so.... the broken bus thing.... is a hardware problem that an authorised service can fix (for a lot of money, of course), but is fixable, right ?
thanks

i do the same thing try a few times till you succeed try to pull the jack as though it is stuck
i've used a multimeter and found that the microswitch works fine, so unfortunatly that isn't the problem
Same fixed problem
I had this same problem, is the 3.5 mm jack, I fixed it by opening the uni.
Saludos
thanks. solve the problem.
Hi there everybody,
First of all, I'd just like to point out that I'm new to this forum, a friend of mine referred me to here.
I have a Tornado SPV C600, which as of today, is running WM6 Platinum Edition 5.2.1711.18165.0.5.0 SP1 by NiTroGen.
On with the problem, a couple of weeks ago my ipod died. Again.... So this time I decided to put some music on my C600. 3 days later, the headphone jack got pulled out of the socket when I put the phone back into my pocket after choosing a track. Since then, whenever somebody has called me, or I've called somebody, no sound comes out of the earpiece on the phone itself. The only way I can hear what's going on is by plugging the handsfree headset back into the bottom.
The same issue occurs when using HTC Audio Manager/WMP to play music through the phone's speaker....I have to use the headphones again.
However, the phone does seem to be playing small sounds like the annoying jingle when I receive a text. Which leads me to believe that it is a software issue rather than a hardware issue.
Has anybody ever had this problem? Could anyone point me in a direction?
Thanks,
Bassmad
You've damaged the jack. Probably the solder points where the jack connects to the board, or possibly the spring-like part inside the jack which acts like a switch.
Go to the Modaco forums for disassembly instructions and follow the guide to open yours. Take a good look at the jack; if it's loose, see if you know anyone good enough to resolder it for you.
i have same problem before 2 week and i try plugin hardly my earphone several time.and solved it

You probably loosened the stuck springy part or pushed the part back into the board.
For some reason my phone decided to stop allowing me to hear the caller on the other end unless I have them on speaker or switch over to my bt device (though, the caller can still hear me). Has anyone experienced this problem? I believe the problem started this morning when I installed Skyfire (I received a message saying something about sound issues, but the warning went away before I could understand what it said), but I may be wrong. The main speaker works perfectly fine and I have no issues with any other phone sounds. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Hi, i have the same issue since i own the phone.
The speakers sold at gsm4world are only for the back of the phone, i didn't find a replacement "earpiece" (correct word?) by now. Since i don't use the phone for calling, that didn't bother me till now (my gf wants to use it).
Maybe i will dismantle the phone during the week to see if its just a cold solder. If i get the partnumber i'll post or maybe another member comes up with a solution.
Phone dismantled and tested
Well.
I dismantled the phone yesterday and tested the speaker. You can do so yourself by simply using a 3,5mm headphone jack. Cut the cable open, connect the shield to one side, the white one on the other side. No sound --> speaker broken.
Afterwards i connected my 3,5mm cable directly to the board an plugged in into the microphone-jack. Receive a call an you can check whether the board is ok. i could easily record the call so there is no problem on the board itself. I assume its a production error.
You can order the spare part speaker at gsm4world.us für 8$, other sites offer it for 25$ and more. It's listed for the Diamond but don't worry, should fit as my colleage owns a diamond and allowed me to check - looks the same and works flawlessly by connecting directly to my 3,5mm cable.
Unfortunately i live in germany so it will take a while until i receive it. If i finally get my hands on it i will post my findings (in any case )
So the speaker arrived and i can only say: IT WORKS!
get a diamond earpiece and peel off ALL of the protection, because it is 1-2mm thicker than the original one.
Thats it After 1 year of ownership my raphael can actually make a call!
After that it was directly taken by my gf
