S710 crash automatically - HTC Vox

i have a htc s 710 and in the last time is restarting and crashing frequently by it self.
what can i do to fix the problem? there are some updates of rom and radio????
thx Enrico

First remove sd and sim card and see if that helps.
If not, then prolly a hard reset will fix it.
Hard reset: press and hold left and right softkeys and power on device, press send to confirm hard reset.

but if i would like to update it?

Always make sure that you don't have any reference on your homescreen to any application installed on SD card, including MRU plug-ins which may point to any recently opened app in the SD card. This is a known bug for Vox.
I am not sure whether the same is fixed in recently released ROMs. But it is advisable to follow this practise. I had faced this problem in the past. Ever since, I never had any plug-ins on my home screen which points to an application in the SD card. And never had this problem again.
For the time being, it is always better to do a hard-reset. How muchever you try with other options, the issue might resurface again. Once the hard reset is done, follow the above practise. And you will never face the issue again.

ok i'll try!!
thx again

Two Roms Start To Splash Screen, Am I Doing Something Wrong?

I've used a bunch of roms so far and two of them so far have worked fine for days but for some weird reason when I would turn it on then it wouldn't turn on anymore. I am not gonna mention names because I don't think it's their fault I think it's mine. Both of them tended to do this right after I installed new software and then later on I would restart the phone. Is there some type of limitation of how much I could third-party software I could install in a rom?

Ok my guess is you are using a touch rom. Here is what I am willing to bet has happened to you. You flashed the rom successfully, installed 3rd party software while the home plugin was still active on the home screen and now you are having problems rebooting.
I have 3 solutions for you.
1. Hard reset(hold comm manager and voice button while pressing reset button.)
2. take out memory card and sim card turn it on and then soft reset once it freezes.
3. DISABLE home plugin while installing new software.
Hope this helps.

Yea that's no joke. Just today my Wizard running TNT.1437 Touch started trying to connect to GPRS over and over again and wouldn't stop untill the battery completely died. It was only at 3% to begin with but it died really quick(batterystatus probably helped)

Cruise cannot be turned off

I installed several programs on my Cruise and unfortunately the device cannot be turned off anymore.
If I hold the button on top of the device and hold it, you get the message that you are turning the device off....but it puts it in hibernate....
I don't really know which program caused the problem, since I seldom turn my phone off. So in the 2 weeks I have the phone, I tried to turn it off only once.
In the beginning the button worked...but now...not anymore.
I know I can try a hard reset, but I am reluctant...since I have to install everything again.
The software I installed were:
SBSH PocketBreeze (uninstalled it)
PZP tools (uninstalled it)
BatteryStatus Advanced
SPB Diary
HTC Home Customizer
At least these are the programs of which I think could have caused the problem.
Does anybody know how to correct this, without hardresetting?
Same situation for me .....
Maybe HTC HomeCustomizer ???
you can try soft reseting the device with the stylus and see once it is back on if the problem persists. then u might want to try uninstalling the last application u installed to see if it makes a difference.

I have used HTC Home Customizer and do not have this problem. Have you tried a short double press of the power button? Sounds like the long press power off works by your descriptions. You may also want to check if xpshut will work for you.

I tried xpshut also with no results, now after hardresetting seems it's all ok. If the situation will repeat i'll write it in this thread, thanks mates
Problem seems to be resolved
The problem seems to be HTCHome v2.1 necessary for HHCustomizer to work. I installed it and i'm not able to turn off the device, after uninstalled it's all ok.
At least there is someone to share this inconvenience. Glad to hear you found out what caused it....however, does your Home Customizer still work?

No, it doesn't work without HTCHome v2.1
Keypad service
There's also a service, keypad, that if stopped, disables all buttons. Not sure if this applies to you or not, but I had stopped it on my TC by accident, and had the same issue you described.

Problem wit alarm on O2 Atom

Hello.
I have an O2 Atom with WM5.
It started for a while ago to act up.
When I used the alarm I was not able to turn it off. (The "dismiss" bottom in the lower left corner did not come up.) I tryed everything and the only thing that worked was to take out the battery and reset the whole thing.
But now the problem has developed. And I am not able to turn off the alarm at all anymore. Making the phone unusably?
Is that a known problem? If so is there anything I can do to solve it?
I have tryed to upgrade the ROM but it is allready the latest. Maybe I could upgrade it to WM6?? Is that possible? And if so how??
Best regards
settemand
i suggest you hard reset your device. to do this, hold the reset and power buttong together. a screen will show telling you to press both call and end keys (the green and red buttons). when the process is finished, see if the problem still exists. before you do a hard reset, backup any important data you may want to save.
it is also possible to upgrade to WM6, just download a ROM and follow the instructions. usually takes less than 30mins for the upgrade process.
hope this helps.
Thanks very much. That did the trick. It took some time to reinstall the backup. But it was worth it.

Settemand

Continuous reboot problem

Hi,
My Vox is in an endless reboot cycle. I boots and after the Home screen displayed for about 30 secnds, it shuts itself down, as if the power-off button had been pressed, and then goes dead. Then, after about as minute, it goes on, and reboots without me having touched it.
I've removed the SD and SIM cards, and get the same result.
Needless to say, I cannot connect to it with Activesync.
I'm running the latest WM 6.1 available on this forum.
Can anyone afooer some advice on how to fix this problem?
Thanks
have u instaled smarttoolkit rc09? if yes, then remove it.
I too had the same experience with the software. instead, install the RC08.
If u have not installed the above software, then try removing the microSD card and boot. it shud work.
Cheers,
Akshay
Looks like hard reset is the only option you are left with, But be warned that you will loose all your data (on the phone), sim card is not touched. Regarding howto hard reset, please see the wiki

just remove the battery and then remove the sd card. reinsert battery and reboot now. it should work. if u have smart toolkit 09,remove it. another program this causes this feedback loop is photocontacts pro. what software do u have running? if nothing else works, try a hard reset. sincerely hope u have synchronized ur data already. else u will lose t fully.
you can also pull the simcard, this will switch off the vox.
With me this worked: after restart the problem was gone.

Help with HTC Fuze

I am hoping that you guys can help.
My spouse purchase a HTC Fuze a little while back. She used it for
a few months. She was then deployed to Iraq. The phone has been
off for the last 3 months. It was working fine when last used. Recently,
I powered it up and the touch screen is not functioning properly.
You can not use it to dial phone numbers, send texts, and such.
Basically, it does not function correctly really. When it just sitting,
it will roll through options on the screen as if it is being touched
and will not stay on the home setting.
What could the problem be? Can this be fixed? I have tried a soft reset
which hasn't worked. It is disturbing since this is a fairly new phone.
Thanks in Advance!
try re-calibrating the screen! if that fails - hard rest it.
How do you re-calibrate the screen?
settings-system-screen
I am under the settings menu but I don't see anything that says system.
Bear in mind that if I have to use the touch screen to get to it then it
would be a no go.
it's a tab in the button if you get there by moving down fron the lowests icon then you can move to system
its a tab in what button. Can you some one give me the exact step by step to get there?
try using the circular thing (joystick) to get there! i'm running a custom rom, so your settings layout may be different.
circular joystick to get where.
Can I have a step by step? I can't find system anywhere.
My touch screen displays but it does not do anything when
I touch it. I have to use the physical buttons.
to go up and down in that menu but if you have a stock rom you may have a different folder for "system", i'm not sure.
Figured out where that is now. I didn't realize that
you were talking about the start button for windows.
I went to that section and it asks you to go through the
align screen process but it does not respond to the taps
of the wand. Is that how we recalibrate?
If this doesnt work, what can be done to get the screen working?
try this: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Raphael_For_Beginners#Hardx20.Reset
hard reset your phone
If I do that, I will lose all my contacts and data on my phone, right?
How do I prevent this?
your best bet is to hope you have "PIM backup" and use it to back up everything, including custom folders. hopefully you can navigate using the hardware keyboard. (custom backup allows you to pack up specific folders and/or files). back it up to your storage card, THEN hard reset it.
also, if you have your phone's contact list synced via active sync, just hard reset and it'll restore your synced contact list.
good luck
EDIT: please delete this. double post of preceding reply.
Will a hard reset actually fix this problem with the touch screen
or this just a try it and see approach?
Contacts saved on my SIM will not be affected by a hard reset, right?
Do a hard reset then,
Yeah, if you already save your contacts in the sim then go ahead and do a hard reset. Just follow the start up procedure on the phone, hope this will solve your problem. Please let us know.

man, nobody knows for sure. it will give you a blank phone, just like the first dday you turned it on (software wise). if the screen has some hardware damage - you will know after the hard-reset. let us know how it went!
so what is actual purpose of a hard reset over a soft reset?
Why would this work to reset the screen over a soft reset?
