Battery Drain Issues - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario ROM Development

I have recently flashed both the TNT 1933 TouchFlo edition ROM and the Black Diamond 3.1 Rom. They are both great but both of them are absolutely killing my battery life. I mean I cannot go a half day without the battery dying. What is going on with my Wizard? Is this a common problem with flashing WM6 ROMS, these specific ROMS (TNT and BD3.0), or is it just my phone somehow?

Its your old battery. Replace it.

yeah most likely battery dying if it goes that quick... but just to test, flash back to the stock tmo rom and see if it's still horrible before you go buy a new one...

It might be an old batt; but mine is original. I had the issue with Merlins rom for a while so I finally managed to find a fix:

(post number 439)

This is most likely due to a corrupt Extended ROM. I flashed back to a stock WM5 ROM and reflashed the WM6 ROM, and the battery drain issue is gone.

Rudi

Thanks for the help and advice guys, I'll try these things out and post an update, thanks again

Which WM6 has the best battery life?

I have flashed various wm6 and love them all. I am currently running a Tnt buld with touchflo without the cube. I love the rom but it eats up my battery life. I have reflashed it to make sure it was not a corrupt ext rom with no change.
What wm6 rom do you think offers the best battery life. I am tired of charing my phone half way through the day.
What radio are you using? and did you flash a base rom before flashing tnt.
2.19 uses less power then persay radio 2.69
Yes I did flash back to the carrier rom. I am using radio 2.19 as it is suggested for best overall call reception.

Tired of WM6

I've been a WM user for years, I had the same issue when I upgraded my Axim X50V to WM5.
I've been upgrading to almost every single ROM posted here.
After 100s of crashes, battery drains, radio problems... switched back to WM5, cuz i was unreachable all the time.
Is there any ROM worth trying? no battery/memory drain, no radio issues and no crashes?
Any ideas, thoughts, suggestions?

Try Jwrightmcps Crossbow Rom 2.12.08 WWE which I am using on my Qtek 9000 since it was released on 12/16/2008. I think his rom is the best. I am very satisfied with his rom. I am waiting for his next rom release that supports 128mb of ram since I had my device recently upgraded from 64mb to 128mb of ram by PocketPCTechs.

Thought: The problem's not the ROMs, it's something on your side.
I didn't try many ROMs and with one or two I had stability issues. With the 1.18 radio I had several radio crashes, but most certainly due to a weak battery. With 1.17 none of that. I also didn't have any issues with stability using a WM 6.0 version of thingonaspring's one and I don't have them with Ranju's 7.1 WM 6.1.
Idea: Possibly your problems have something to do with your battery or some software you use, that doesn't work all that good under WM 6.
Suggestion: Check that
Thanks for the quick replay guys,
I tried Jwrightmcps's and Ranju's ROMs, they were two of my favorites, I had some issues with Radio and battery, I decided that i'll buy a new battery and switched back to WM5 until my battery arrives.
Somehow, everything is very stable with WM5, I even canceled my battery order.
I'm pretty sure it's not software related, cuz I even tried ROMs without any additional software, I switched between radio ROMs looking for something that plays well with my service provider.
Do you guys think it's worth trying?

You gotta answer this for yourself. This depends on the benefits you get from WM6\6.1 and how intense the effort you put into this is. And especially the latter one is something we can't even estimate.
I'm usually the first to spend his free time fiddling around with some technical details without any real needs and I just can't help doing so. So I'd certainly try. My wife's just the opposite, so she would (most certainly) not
About the radios, what's your proider and where do you live?
I can't help you much with this, but at least for Germany most people are satisfied with the 1.17 and claim to have better signal or battery life. But sometimes I wonder if most of this isn't just mambo-jambo. Nobody seems to really know what's really different between the radios and I can imagine that many fall for some placebo and the rest is just experiencing "random" changes, not structural benefits of changed algorithms.
Settling for the version your provider distributes seems to be reasonable choice if you don't want to experiment yourself.

For me I am back for the 5th time to Sleuth V3 for baterry life
hi,
in terms of battery life, the best build is 19199, in my case with niki radio .1.58.16.27...
cheers
For me build 19199 - dutty's.
Radio also affects battery life greatly, but using the same radio with different roms in the last few days 19199 gives the best battery life.
But i have not tested with Dutty's new Hybrid rom launched last night - will be installing that later today.
Does that mean we should flash to old ROM from dutty's Build 19716 to get best battery life ?

Yes, but the ROM also has a lot do with it.
I concur - 19199 gave me an IMPRESSIVE increase in battery life, to the point that I stopped downloading other ROMs...
i suggest: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=368330
upgraded today...lifetime battery is the best that i've ever seen...(in R0 release, i mean )
This thread has just proven its self to be useless. There are way to many variables, such as rom, radio, location, apps running/installed for someone to give an answer. THis is just a personal preference question. Figure it out for yourself like everyone else has done.
I have a suggestion, flash away until you find one that fits your needs and for the love of GOD, quit making new threads that ask questions that everyone will give answers to based on personal preferences.
Why oh why?

I think this thread is helpful for newbies like me...
I´m testing the battery lifetime with the help of a tool called BattBench.
First of all, I put the device into flight mode, turn all lights down an then I test rom by rom to see which has the best battery performance, independent from radio, apps etc. (no apps are installed).
I got the best result with Duttys Hybrid rom, right now I´m testing his updated version, if it has the same result as his previous one, I will test this rom by changing radio rom by radio rom.
Dutty's new Hybrid Rom has especially good battery life.
yesterday loaded 19199 Full. the navigation isnt smooth as 19716. is there anything I am missing ?
When I want to scroll thru contacts 19716. I can scroll using my finger itself but 19199 doesnt respond, need to tap every time. I really want to use 19199 but with out the touch sensitivity i think its really hard to take out the stylus everytime to tap.
Any idea how to make the touch screen more responsive ?

Battery Drainage with TNT 1620 Rom

Hi,i recently installed the TNT Rom 1620.5.2 Professional version. But i am facing Battery drainage problem while using Wifi or playing music/videos.The phone only play max.5 songs and then my phone gets restarted and the battery level gets very low.I am using I-mate K-Jam.
I searched the forum too but haven't find a reliable solution. Please anyone can help me to solve this issue?
Thanks in advance
RTFW (wiki)...
That's a really old ROM. But anyway... Follow the instructions in the Sticky at the top of the Wizard Moble 6 forum. When you flash a ROM ALWAYS flash back to the Button ROM. Then your default carrier ROM. Then your Radio and (optional IPL/SPL) Then finally the final ROM you want on your phone. On the Button and Carrier ROM make sure you let the Extended installs run. There are driver and other hardware that gets put back to original configuration in these steps. If you skip any of the steps you will most likely get the problems you have now.
The other answer could be that your battery has run its life out. Buy an new battery they are only about $8 on eBay.

Rom for best battery life

im using Crossbow Reloaded because i read that it was good in battery life which i need
but i also read that Core 2.0n is also good in battery life
WHAT IS THE BEST ROM FOR BATTERY LIFE????
Avoidt using GSM 3.xxx & above
Basically WM 6.1 has good battery life btw u can try these rom's having verygood battery life
TNT the .19XXXX series and .20XXX series by ITS RIGHT
AMP v2 by CHARACTER
xda2haseeb's wm 6.1 roms also has good battery life
Also you can enable power management by advanced config tool which improves battery life and some rom's comes with all the power management enabled by default.
Battery life depends on what ROM and applications you are running with it! Mostly it is user dependent, and location too! So just keep trying different ROM until you find the one it matches your needs.

It's fast but hasn't got much extras. However, it has around 30Mb free RAM so it's useful for web browsing and other "memory eaters". I recommend you to try Cracing or XDA2 roms, both good, on my device the Cracing was faster, but it also depends on the build. Try any of them, you can easily change it if you don't like it.
P.S. I've never tried WM 6.1 so I can't say anything about it. It may be better in some way but I don't know.
Good luck!
