Hey guys im using an exchange push mail service from www.drmorley.com
They charge $3 a month for a 200meg mailbox with push email support. Whats even nicer is that when you send mail form for instance mine is [email protected] you attach an alias for instance [email protected] so mail sent from the drmorley account looks like its sent directly form your gmail account. I applied for it and i was all setup and go in less than 2 hours. It support push mail for pocket pc and blackberry support. Please have a look. He is looking at setting up cluster/load balancing support so even if one mail server goes down there will be a backup in place without any downtime.
Try them and leave some feedback. He even supplies a certificate for WM5 devices foc.
Hi, I thought I'd share a bit about my setup.
About my Hardware/Setup:
My servers are a pair of Dell 2950 PowerEdge server with 2Ghz Xeon Dual Core processors and 8GB of RAM. They've got about 500GB of storage in a RAID5 array with a spare hot swap drive just in case a drive starts acting up. I can pull it out and enable the spare within a hour ensure the data survives. A full backup is done daily and once a week the backup file gets offloaded to a remote datacenter just as a precaution. I also have backup MX servers that will archive 1GB of mail for up to 14 days in the event of a major outage. The servers themselves are colocated in a datacenter in Chicago where I live. I purchase colo space from SteadFast Networks which is located in an Equinix datacenter. The servers are hooked into a 100MB connection so bandwidth is not an issue.
I'm sorry, but I do not offer any SharePoint services or public folders. I didn't think I had the time or resources to adequately offer it so I chose not to offer it.
I have an economy plan for $3/month (paid yearly) that includes:
• 200MB Storage
• 10 aliases (ability to use your own domain)
• Outlook Anywhere, Activesync (Direct Push for Windows Mobile Devices), OWA
• POP3 & IMAP Access
• Antivirus Scanning (inbound & outbound) - Provided by Forefront Security for Exchange
• Entourage support for Macs
• iPhone Support (via IMAP)
The $5/month plan comes with a mediocre spam filter that I offer for free. It does an okay job, but if you really get a lot of spam (100+/day) then you'll want something better. I do pride myself on offering one of the best anti-spam solutions out there. After a lot of testing and research I found that no single spam filter could really do a fantastic job of filtering spam. So I went with a two tier approach. On the edge of my network I use Postini to filter the bulk spam that most filters catch easily. My users can administrate it themselves and whitelist/blacklist as they see fit. The second layer of protection is Cloudmark SPAM filter for Exchange. It's a server side solution and when used in conjunction with the Postini eliminates 99.9% of spam. The best part is that the false positive ratio with Cloudmark is nearly flawless. Ham will never be filtered as Spam--as a business class user you can't afford to miss an important client email. With Cloudmark spam filtering you don't have to worry about false positives.
As it relates to mobile phones (blackberries and windows mobile devices) the spam filtering is done BEFORE the mail hits your inbox to spam won't continually be sent to your mobile phone.
Here's how my pricing works. I had to change it recently to due changes in some of the licensing fees I have to pay to MSFT and Cloudmark.

I don't have a formal terms of service, but I reserve the right to disable your account if I feel you've been using my service to spam. I went through great pains to make sure email from my domain is accepted by other mail servers and if I feel you are jeopardizing things for others you will be banned immediately no questions asked. I will refund your money, but your account will be locked up and you will be permanently banned.

I really like the idea of your spam filtering thats probably my biggest complaint with my current setup but looking at your plans the only way to get both spam filtering is pretty much $8 a month correct?
Can you tell me what the OWA addy is just so I can see if my works websense blocks it or not?
I have a question about the push email. With this type of solution how does the push email work? Does it send a SMS msg to force checking of the account or is it connected all the time?
Just curious as my current solution stays connected all the time and is a drain on battery life.
mail2web ISN'T free if you want to use your own reply-to address.
Does Outlook everywhere support HTML email?
Mail2web is a nice service but does not provide HTML support cause they are still using Exchange 2003 SP2. I talked to a technical guy and there's no plan to upgrade to 2007 which support HTML. Only Executive plan is using Exchange 2007a nd in this case you have to pay!
Otherwise, the live2web (Free service) is working fine but without HTML read format.

Everyone has a spam filter..
Anyways, yes mail2web is free but you get mail2web at the end of your address, this is no go for some people.
His $3 a month plan is right up my alley, that is a perfect plan for a user such as myself.

horses for courses... I actually asked mail2web to disable it because it kept blocking legitimate emails. I don't get very much spam at all though (maybe 2-3 per month) so it's fine.

Sounds like a nice deal @ $3 bucks a month..... I have mail2web, but it doesn't support HTML. So I quit using it. I just forward my everything to my gmail and have my phone check every 10min. But for $3 I think it's a steal.

I spent two years researching and testing different spam filters. For those of you than manage your own mail servers Cloudmark offers some of the best protection out there and their false positive ratio is nearly flawless. Worth every penny if you ask me.

Hey guys, just got my Kaiser and flat rate data and was wanting to get full push email sorted out, but I am a consumer not a business so found it hard to get one, especially with decent spam filtering.
I eventually found http://www.exchangemymail.com/ - they do single user 200MB exchange mailboxes for $9.99 a month (£5 for me - yay!) and chuck in Postini spam filtering and wireless activesync and a copy of outlook 2007 for your desktop for free!
Very easy setup, I now have blackberry-style wireless syncing of mail / contacts / calendar on my HTC phone which absolutely rocks! The web interface is great too, very web 2.0, almost like using a local outlook client, and that's coming from someone who isn't exaclty M$'s biggest fan...
I have my own domain and just redirected my email address to one they gave me, but they will allow you to point your MX at them.
The only downside really for me is that live support is US hours only, so no support till like 2PM (I dunno, maybe they have out of hours via email, but if email is the problem...), but if it were hosted in the UK you bet I would be paying £10 a month not $10 a month...
No minimum contract too. Someone yell if they know of a better deal

I think the free email hosting will do me for now, but if I like it, I may move my domain hosting in and donate the $50.
Though I will have to see how effective Postini is with exchangemymail. I would happily pay £5 a month for top notch spam filtering to my mobile account alone - I have had this email address for pretty much 20 yrs now and it is on a lot of spam lists...
Sure I could set up my own mail server with spamassassin or whatever, but to be frank, not sure I can be arsed.

Can any one help me. I've been given an office work WM6.1 mobile (touch pro 2) and it bugs me that I can't stop receiving spam emails at early hour of the morning. My business isn't larger enough to have an Exchange server which I know would be able to solve the problems.
Does anyone know of a app that I can use to choose when I pull for email, so I can set it just to work 9 to 5 / monday to friday?
Or if i've totally missed this option some where on my device... lol

Not sure it will do what you want as it is a 3rd party service looking at your mail file and redirecting to your PPC but it might be worth a shot - Seven beta. That certainly has the option to define nights and weekends so that no mail is delivered.
You should be able to use the schedule function built into active sync to change this. I have mine set to instant (as its exchange) during 8am to 10pm and manual after that.
I don't have an IMAP/POP account but I can't see any reason why you should not be able to do that.....
(It should be in Active Sync-> Schedule)

Pocketoutlook it self has no sheduler( when to start when to stop) for POP/IMAP build in. But there is a freeware http://gudensoft.com/ that you can download. I could not find th link but there was thread in development section about that software.
Furthermore..If your company allow it.. have you consider using Gmail pushmail (FREE) ..Gmai has the best spam filter

I have my own personal email on gmail (which is great) however we now have our own hosted email at work. Someone in the office had a virus which must have sent out their address list and all i get is penis enlargement and watch emails.
I've set up a rule to delete ones with certain words but some get through. I had 34 spam emails last night from the time a fell asleep to waking up.

OK, it's about time that I reviewed my email hosting options, I am currently paying $10 a month to exchangemymail.com for exchange 2k3 hosting (200MB mailbox). The main reason I went with that company was at the time they were the only ones I could find that offered postini filtered email accounts for one user only (I use it for my personal phone not just buisiness).
Top notch spam filtering is my #1 priority as I have had evilc.com and the [email protected] email address for nigh on 20 years now so I get a *lot* of spam.
However, since I originally took out the account, google bought postini, and now it seems that you can pay google $6 a year for postini filtering and bolt it onto any email account (You need a domain, which I have).
I am not unhappy with exchangemymail.com's service at all, but I think I can maybe get a better deal now.
So... looking for input on the subject.
Here are some points worth noting:
I currently use windows mobile, but I am maybe getting an android phone too soon, so a system that works well on both would be nice.
I use the same account on my desktop as my phone and I will not change this - it has to be as good a desktop solution as it is a phone solution.
Unification of email / contacts / tasks etc and OTA synching of these is vital. With my current system, I can enter a contact into outlook, pick up my (untethered) phone and the contact will be in there within seconds. I want to keep this.
I want the push email to be as real-time as possible. None of this every 5 or 10 minutes rubbish. I hold conversations via email, so it needs to be fast.
I am not hugely happy with the desktop exchange solution, it takes ~2-3 mins to load up outlook, and I have to enter my password too. However, I am not a huge fan of web interfaces for email / contacts etc.
I suppose it doesnt have to be postini spam filtering, but it needs to be really, really good.
Not looking for super cheap / free solutions from tiny outfits. I want to sleep sound at night knowing that my data is safe. (Yes I know about the google / sidekick fiasco but that isn't the norm for google)
I am in the UK, so hosting in places where the exchange rate is favourable makes sense

Basically it should be able to create an invoice while with customers, that allows me to insert manual information about the job, hours spent and the cost. Also if possible to add a dropdown of products that can be bought at fixed prices.
Then sync it with a PC and print the invoice.
Any tips are appreciated
You could use pocket Excel to capture your text and values. think it allows dropdown lists. this can then be imported to PC Excel when you sync.

I use a program called Mobile Invoice. its a little outdated but I use it with an epson tm-p60 bluetooth receipt printer everyday. you can even configure it for all of the things you asked for! including products, services, job, hours, bill to, tons more.
there is a quicken edition that syncs up to your pc but I never tried it. the standard edition will let you print, email, or export invoices so thats plenty for me.

At work I use a system designed by a company called portech. It allows me to edit customer information and use drop down menus to add products and services which we have provided. The customer then can sign my phone to agree with it and out it comes from my wireless printer with cost and vat all worked out.
I dont know how much it costs but may be worth looking at.

Conversations uses xxmp servers which don't work well if there are extended times offline.
Delta chat uses smtp which is great for offline but it has very little key management features for advanced users
Pretty easy privacy is still beta but promises a lot of good features in the future, but they might go with a subscription service for advanced features(that they call enterprise edition otherwise it might be the best when they get it done)
K9 mail with open pgp key management just is too complicated for everyday people.(sadly it's the best security)

I'm kinda a rookie and only play a knowledgeable geek on tv, but security is pretty important to me. So I've tried a few different apps. Currently I'm using a combo of Threema and Signal on my Mi Max 3. I really like Threema. I wish signal had a few more bells and whistles, so I'm casting about for another SMS messaging app. It's not very scientific but one of my main criteria is just how many permissions the app asks for.

There is no security on smartphones.
Depends on a few things.
1. Keys stay encrypted and on phone not online or "in the cloud"
2. Even if encrypted end to end like Whatsapp, the company was sold to Facebook so.....
3. Has to connect send and receive peer to peer or adversaries attack any centralization because that makes it too easy for them, so no telegram
I think Signal by Whisper Systems is "best", but the phone has android which Google and nsa have backdoored and suppress zero day exploit knowledge and keep discovery secret, so they read and keylog it all.
Ive been using Wickr they seem to be more secure than a regular text messages at least, I hope maybe. They say in their disclosure they dont keep any messages on the servers they use but its stiil the end users device thats the weak point. Lately wickr has been updating alot, which seems to be another term for uploading. idk i may be way off.
I found my rooted Nexus 6 had directories that were hard to get to containing screenshots of my phone taken randomly during a 24 hour time frame and zipped. Also simply watching the logcat it was uploading files regularly, dropbox and I cant find much about it but the Sahara protocol was what seemed to be querying uploads.
