AT&T Tilt stuck on bootloader - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Windows Mobile ROM De

a customer brought this AT&T Tilt (he said it was unlocked), stuck at bootloader
KAIS1*0
SPL-1.93.0000
CPLD-8
I FLASHED it with AT&T ROM from HTC successfully, restarted , still doing the same thing
tried different ROM, it stuck with 0% and it get ERROR 262 : UPDATE ERROR AND ask me for recovery .
i tried install the HARDSPL , but it wont recoginize the phone(activesych doesnt read the phone.

Since you got the error trying to flash a non-at&t Rom it isn't CID unlocked (but I'm sure you figured that out already). He probably meant it is SIM unlocked.
In order to install HardSPL you need to be able to boot into the OS.
I'd say you need more info from your customer, like what he was trying to do to the phone.
Maybe then someone here will have an idea of what to try next although I'm thinking tis might end-up with a call to at&t Warranty replacement service.

he bought it off ebay junkyard , was unlocked and he is a Tmobile customer.
he said he didnt try to install or upload anything.
u know the deal, u wake up everyday and someone u do not know deposited $1b into your account.

Sounds like someone dumped a bricked phone using eBay.
I hate it when a**holes do that. In it's current condition the original purchaser could get it warranty replaced as long as the water & void stickers are okay. Instead they pawn it off on an unspecting buyer.
I'd encourage him to contact the seller. If the seller is legit they'll take it back and refund him. Otherwise a follow-up with the payment provider will be needed. Hopefully the seller didn't list it "AS IS" but at least claims "Not DOA".
I sell all of my older phones on eBay and always try to document any physical damage (scratches and such). My last 2 Wizards had the mini USB port replaced by PPCTechs and I even noted that repair in my listings.
The thing about eBay is you can get a good deal but sometimes the cheap comes out expensive.

It's probably a longshot but have you seen this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=371154
Back when I was using a Hermes I used MTTY to manually flash my Roms. You might be able to use it to do a format then flash the stock at&t Rom.

Can non-HTC supported ROM suddenly ruin mainboard?

Hello. I'll apologize in advance for being technologically challenged. I bought an AT &T Tilt (HTC 8925) on Ebay almost a year ago and it worked fine for months. About a month or so ago, I started to get the message "no service" when I knew I was in an area of very good AT&T service. Within a day, I started to get the message "no sim" so I tried the sim in my husband's phone and it wouldn't work there either. So, I assumed the whole incident was due to a dying sim. I got a new sim and the phone worked great for about a couple of months. Then, last week, I started gettng the "no service" message again. This time, I sent the phone to HTC repair since they said they'd diagnose for free. They called me to tell me that the problem is I had a non-HTC supported ROM which ruined my main board and they could fix it for nearly $400. They say even though the phone is under warranty, the non-suppported ROM voids my warranty. They said the ROM was for a TYTNII and not 8925 and so it was just incompatible. Are they taking advantage of me becasue I don't know any better? I bought the phone specifically because it was unlocked and have never had a problem buying an unlocked phone online before. Do you think the person who unlocked the phone to sell it to me could have used the wrong ROM and it slowly damaged my phone or is that just nonsense? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
have you tried to reflash it?
Get the phone back
Hi
I think that the HTC policy is unfair in practice but in theory they are right. There could be issues to do with charging and temperature which could, in theory, affect a conneciton to the mainboard. If HTC are willing to send you the phone back in the same condition as you sent it to them without charging you I would take this option and flash the "correct" ROM to the device to see if this makes any difference to the problem. The correct ROM would be an update from AT&T for the Tilt. The other thing is to get a second opinion from an independent phone engineer if you can find one. It may not actually need a new mainboard but a new SIM card holder. It would be difficult to say that the incorrect ROM would affect a SIM card holder, so HTC wouldn't diagnose the problem in that way.
Hope that helps.
andrew-in-woking
Andrew,
When you mentioned charging and overheating, I did have to replace my battery as well, it just wouldn't hold a charge anymore. I wonder if you're on to something. I did ask them to send the phone back to me so I should have it in a few days. The other reply I got to my question suggested "reflashing". I really don't know much at all about all of this. Is there a link to how to flash it? I did update the ROM based on a suggestion from HTC using the link on thier website. Before I mailed the phone to them, they thought I might have a radio problem so they suggested the ROM update. I did the update for the tytnII. My phone doesn't have any AT&T software on it, it looks just like the TYNT II photo on the HTC website. Based on that, what would you suggest I "flash" and do you happen to have a link to step by step instructions?
from that it sounds like htc told you to flash a kaiser rom the a TILT phone

<URGENT> Rooted Handset Repair Issue!

Hi, I purchased a handset on contract from Three UK and have so far rooted, unlocked and booted a new ROM on to it. I understand this is reversible but after having some issues with my SD CARD SLOT,
I need to send in my handset for repair but they say that if a handset has been rooted it can not be returned because of the fact that it voids warranty!
I said what If I reverse changes and they said they will be able to tell that if the handset has been rooted in the past? Is this true? Can They? Is There away around this? Please reply soon - this is urgent, thanks.
i heard that if u unlock bootloader using xtc clip is a perm unlocked... correct me if i'm wrong.
If you had s-off then they can tell as chances are they only sell the s-on version. Only thing is if you have already contacted them about it then that fact they found it rooted means its on your account notes so you have no chance new unfortunately. The only way would be a chargeable repair. Insurance wouldn't cover it because its a manufacturing fault in most cases but I'd check that if you have it.

[Q] AT&T - Help Bad Situation

If anyone has a good relationship with anyone in management at at&t ... warranty dept ideally..... can you please pm me .... i need help.....
long story but in a nut shell i had a warranty claim involving charging port on my phone and it got misdelivered by post office .... second phone came and i was late returning it because it was lost in the return envelope somewhere... well they charged my account for $2000 dollars!!!
A representative of the warranty dept took over the case and we were doing great.... i assured her the phone had been recovered and was in
the mail. She took the situation by the horns and went to management and smoothed everything out.... until yesterday that is.... first- she told me to do nothing i.e. pay anything on my bill, until she got back in touch with me .... she cautioned this could take several weeks but that the charges applied to my account were serious and needed to be resolved before anything else transpires on the account... well yesterday tried to log onto
my at&t and check status and was still locked out so I placed a call to inquire..... get this .... its weird ... and i see why they would feel this way....
but while i'm on the phone i get a call from a young kid with latino or spanish accent indicating that he was terribly sorry but about two months ago
he received a package for me in the mail and it was a phone.... I was like theres the missing phone right.... well i told him i was on the way and
about ninety miles later and couple hours of trying to decipher his location I found him and recovered the device.... refurbished white one xl with 1.85 1.09 hboot... so i called back to try and locate my lady helping me and got customer service so i told them what had just transpired and i needed to be transferred to that dept... well she would only say that i needed to return the phone to closest location immediately...so i hung up...
got distracted as usual trying to run two businesses and buy another.... just four kids four dogs and a cat on a rainy day and it didnt happen...but i felt i needed to communicate with warranty dept... so anyway i woke up yesterday and my phone is cut off ....now this is not good for me trying to deal with banks for funding on a new business venture and kids and all. So infuriated i proceed to the local store with there phone and after a two hour ordeal with local manager and his support system we come up with i need to return the phone and sometime on or around the 1-17-13 everything will clear out and i can restore my service... well i blew up and told them to just close my accounts.. that was not acceptable...
Anyway the deal is although there way too expensive (my bill is never less than $250 , there still in my experience hands down the best...at least in this area.... and until now every issue i have they more than handle the situation... But i dont appreciate being treated like a criminal stealing a phone when i got up and went out of my way to recover there device. I had no responsibility to this device and had been cleared a month ago by the warranty dept who had confirmed by tracing the device that i never received it..... I also really dont appreciate my phone being turned off on a moments notice when i have done nothing but what i was instructed to do by there management.....
so im at a huge loss today on what to do ....
1- flash both devices to Straight Talk...?
2- send device back? and wait a week to be exhonerated of these charges and restored?
3- call attorney general and file complaint? hire lawyer with money i dont have?
4- do i have rights ? no rights?
I'm really getting sick of big corporations just steam rolling over the little guy.....ive already had a debacle earlier this year with sprint/google nexus that has all but put me out of business... and mother google is becoming the worst ally of a small biz owner ive ever seen ....between adwords and adsense....and there phone i'm in tight spot.....
any help or advice would be greatly appreciated........

well first off team one X is a GSM device therefore it cannot be flashed however you can obtain an unlock code so you can use a straight talk sim card. Or you could even buy an AT&T compatible SIM from straight talk which does not require an unlock code. Secondly I would talk to supervisor or a store Manager and see if they can help you and your situation.
But whatever you choose best of luck to you on a second note if you get a straight talk sim you know you may get the error mm 6 device not authorized in which case means AT&T has your device on the lost or stolen blacklist

thanks
yea well im sending back one of the devices.... so hopefully they wont do that to the other one... im unlocked and rooted on one and about to unlock and root the other one and going to nearest straight talk... i cant go without a phone .... F atat

if you want to go to straight talk check out their website for GSM BYOP (Bring Your Own Phone) @ straighttalksim.com and make sure you choose the AT&T Compatible SIM, You get the same coverage because it uses att towers, for a fraction of the price, however i dont know if they offer LTE yet or not so you may want to do some research on different APN Configurations and what not.
A Word about Unlocked just remember that the bootloader unlock and a Network Unlock are 2 different things, where you need the bootloader unlock to be able to use custom roms, firmware, and radios. You will need a network unlock to be able to use the device on another network that does not operate on att towers, some examples are T-Mobile, SIMple Mobile, Vodaphone, etc, etc

I'm gonna need an expert on this one...or at least someone smarter than I

Here's a brief history...
Bought a used, 'unlocked' AT&T branded S6 from a local store. Worked fine with my T-Mobile service.
(Note: Phone boots AT&T, has AT&T bloatware, reports itself as an SM-G920A.)
Fast forward one year...
Wife wants an new phone, I buy her one. I go to sell the S6 on Swappa, and they tell me that the IMEI is wrong. Can't list it in as an AT&T, as the IMEI is for T-Mobile.
WHAT??!
So I do what I should have done from day one...I compared the IMEI from the system to the one printed on the back. They don't match. While the one in the system is clean, the one on the back is blacklisted.
Ok, so there's a new mainboard inside. And if the IMEI is T-Mobile, that means it's a T-Mobile board...right? Because you can't flash AT&T roms on T-Mobile phones and have them still functional...right? Oh, I should also note that the info in download mode also says SM-G920A, and official, and Knox is 0x, etc. ect. Everything I see says this is an AT&T board EXCEPT the IMEI!
I still plan on selling the phone, but I refuse to do so dishonestly. I need to know what exactly is going on so I can give full disclosure.
Any ideas as to what's happened here, or how I can discover what's what?
(I should have been a little more suspicious when the store's television was playing Tomorrowland while it was STILL IN THE THEATER.)
Another thought...is it possible the guy flashed the IMEI, instead of replacing the board?
One more thing I should note, don't know if it's important. The way he 'unlocked' it was using PingPong root and some other patch I don't know of.
When I decided to sell the phone, I used ODIN to flash factory fresh 5.1.1, AT&T version. No hiccups or problems, went smoothly.
Ugh, so confused!
I figured it out. Went to an AT&T store, the put a sim in and it worked without a problem. More than likely the store I bought it from used a factory unlocked T-Mobile board in it. I'm guessing you can flash whatever you want to these, carrier-wise?
No matter. I've listed it. If it sells, great. If not, might be time to upgrade from my Note 3!

To those that recently bought the unlocked BuySpry eBay H83020i_un G5's

Have any of you been able to successfully flash a new rom onto your phones without losing your carrier unlock?
I've been reading around, and so far, it seems like a few people somehow lost their carrier unlocks after downgrading.
I'd like to flash the Fulmics rom, but I don't want to lose my carrier unlock in the process.
If anyone has any input or suggestions for downgrade/root tutorials, it would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
It's easy to flash a stock ROM and turn it back into a fully stock phone where everything works right.
This thread will bring you up to a stock 20I
https://forum.xda-developers.com/tm...ock-h830-20i-rom-flashable-zips-imgs-t3609735
If you want to root it / install TWRP, etc etc...you want 20a. So use this thread
https://forum.xda-developers.com/tm...ock-h830-20a-rom-flashable-zips-imgs-t3511294
You will lose the SIM unlock because the SIM unlock was achieved using that bogus 20i_un ROM (old school way to do that and not preferred because it's temporary)
Everything works fine once you do that. But I don't know if it can be 're-unlocked'. I'm on T Mobile so I don't care. The t mobile unlock app MIGHT still work after 40 days like it's supposed to, but I haven't had it for 40 days so I don't know.
In the same context, can anyone comment on phones being bought from BuySpry on eBay? Have they all been brand new, unmodified ones or will we face any problem down the line like locked bootloaders, sim locks and that sort of thing. I just bought one and its on its way
Just to put it out there I brought this device on JET.com and I have the same April security H83020i_un. The order was fulfilled by Wireless Boss meaning that's who shipped it so watch out for them as well.

I think they are all like that. I purchased one for my neighbor and one for myself(to use as second device). I flashed it with 20i version and it is the same, but sim unlock went away and phone is locked. I am with T-Mobile and didn't mind it at all.
Just FYI, to all who bought his or her phone from eBay, I just talked to LG today, we have no warranty on our devices. They don't provide warranty to devices that were purchased from eBay.

I think you can still get warranty you just need to flash the stock rom. You can use the imei number to check the production date. Lg gives 15 months warranty from the production date. I got warranty service a couple months back from a defective g5 i bought from ebay. I just used the imei number and the customer rep checked if it was still under warranty

If you leave it like it is out of the box, no. It will definitely not. It has a custom ROM on there so no OTA update will work.
If you flash an official ROM using the LG UP tool (which is INSANELY EASY) then it will get the updates on the T Mobile network. I suspect it will get updates if you're on the Metro PCS network too as it's really just looking for a web connection, not service network. But I can't 100% confirm that as I haven't tried it.
I personally flashed my BuySpry phone to official ROM 20a and immediately got the notifications to update the phone via OTA to official T Mobile releases.
So once you flash the official ROM it's like you've undone whatever BuySpry did to the phone and it's essentially brand new again.

I guess only question I still have would be if sim-locked T Mobile LG G5 will work on Metro PCS...

Thanks for your response!
When I try to use their mobile repair service, they want to see the receipt.
Did it work out for you with a receipt form eBay or did you found a way to circumvent it?
I'm not sure they're going to give me service on it, but I just noticed yesterday that my camera rear glass is broken.
I don't know how since I didn't drop the phone or anything.
Regardless, knowing the warranty works is important for me
OK i spoke to LG and they said warranty is available if 1) Its 15 months from date of manufacture for which they check IMEI 2) 1 year from date of purchase for which they need proof with receipt. So when I gave my IMEI they said it is under warranty. Hopefully I wont need it. But if it comes to that, I will attach their repair slips that came in the box and give eBay receipts. Have also mailed the seller to ask for proof of purchase lets see.

Use the live chat. You just have to give the csr the imei. They did not ask me for the receipt. If they ask Just say you lost the receipt then they will go off the imei to check the production date. I tried doing it on the website but it wouldnt let me continue without uploading a receipt. I did the live chat and the csr was able to generate an rma and email me a return label

When dealing with LG for warranty work never mention it's an ebay purchase. Without a receipt the LG warranty period is 15 months from the date of manufacture. Also ensure the OEM ROM is loaded.
I just purchased one. I'll get it on August 6th
I'm from El Salvador, so you are telling me that if I try to downgrade my phone to root it, I'll be T-mobile only?
and if I do root it, can it be unlocked again with one of those unlocking boxes?
Uppercut has Trojan:Win32/Dynamer!ac in it. Listed as severe.
I ordered this phone and downgraded to 20a, so I could root it and flash a custom rom.
When doing the downgrade/rooting it locked the carrier lock to T-Mobile USA.
I wiped everything and reinstalled 20i, but it was still locked to T-Mobile USA.
Since I am in Canada this is a huge problem for me.
I ended up disputing it at paypal due to not selling a genuine unlocked device.
I will keep you updated, let me know if you figure out how to unlock the carrier lock.

Don't forget to dispute with your credit card company too. They likely have better protections than PayPal.
And don't forget to leave negative feedback for the dishonest seller on ebay
