i found it a few months ago in one of the kaiser overclock threads

What does it do?
Can you post the link to the original thread?
Thanks.

it is from another forum site... i cant remember the name. LCS just implented this into his new rom. I have it installed on the new sleuth wm6.1 rom and i personally cant see a difference. not only that, but... I ran a benchmark today and also saw no difference. this cab is about as helpful as the htc_d3dm.dll
its designed for a different processor... all in all, its a placebo. unless im somehow not activating it right. but idk, try it out for yourself... it doesnt harm the device and is pretty self explanatory how to activate it as far i know...
hope that helps

Thanks
I searched for this cab in the forums but couldn't find it (even using the google search option).
If this is some overclocking function, then I won't try it.

laurentius has the benchmarks with this activated at 520 mhz. it does make a bit of difference. here is the link and the benchmarks are in the 2nd post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=366014

His benchmarks prove there is nothing special about this, as there is less than 2% difference on all benchmarks which can be attributed to statistical margin of error.
If you don't believe in margin of error, then his benchmarks tell you that HTC performance makes things WORSE! The numbers below were extracted from his thread, with the before on the left, after on the right, and the bolded stuff being the loser.
242.1398 vs 241.7512
5.479 vs 5.477
494 vs 490
736 vs 728
11614.37 vs 11770.11
12880.50 vs 13044.59
603.65 vs 601.82
9337.39 vs 9266.97
1505 vs 806
2573 vs 2596
2561 vs 5884 (lower is better)
Out of 11 tests, 8 of those tests scored higher WITHOUT HTC Performance enabled.

Any chance it could perfrom better? Was it only CPU set at 520 vs 400 mhZ?

If you have nothing better to do, you are welcome to try. It won't make a bit of difference if its run on WM6, WM6.1 or WM7.0, shipped or cooked. HTC performance doesn't work on Kaisers (or Apache, or a bunch of other devices too)...

Custel's mobile crack is the same as using KaiserTweak and changing the three cache settings.
The name 'mobile crack' is easier to remember than 'file system cache', 'file system filter cache' and 'gdi/font cache'.

Hi _Alex_,
Maybe you're right but I do notice a nice speed improvement when activated!

And you can read another 191 posts about how the Apache folks at PPCGeeks argued over how it improved the speed of their devices too. My favorite quote is:
not mesurable via cpu tests, or wall clocks. Just oozes "feeling" mojo into your head. Works for me. 624 is too much mojo for me though, I really only am comfortable feeling like its 520...

It's not an improvement though.
Like I said, if you don't believe in the margin of error of 2% and look at the raw numbers, 8 out of 11 tests show that it was -2%, which means only the remaining 3 out of 11 was +2%.
So you're willing to sacrifice 16% loss in other areas for 6% gain in others? That's a -10% result.

Ok... that's a good point!
In my next release I will remove it.
I'm only human haha...
Thank you

spec wise, which is better? tytn, tytn or wing?

Hey guys,
My friend wants to get a PPC and he wants to know which phone is better spec wise.
like which one runs faster.
tytn, tytn 2 or wing?
if you know can you put them in order from < (least to greatest)?

The atlas is the wing. The "non blue" version of the wing is the herald.

The wing has an omap 850 which is god awful slow, its also got only 64mb's of ram. tytn2>tytn>atlas

The explanation that the T-Mobile officials gives for the Wing's 200mhz processor is that, the Wing dosen't need a 400mHz processor. The Tytn and Tytn 2 both have 3G support hence that requires a faster processor, but T-Mobile dosen't support 3G in first place so the processor power for that is uneccesary.

i really don't find it that slow, it works just fine for me. You might have too many things running at the same time or too many Start up items.
i did put the best first and
a faster cpu is always better
for video games and general performance
though kaiser is missing a driver so
it got some performance issues

There is no "best" one. If you want power then Tytn 2 is the best one. If you want looks and a slim phone then the Wing is. The Tilt(Tytn 2 in America) is also heaver than the wing. So you have a choice of look and feel v/s power. Also if you are planning to use T-Mobile, then some of the Tytn 2's features are useless, same with the first Tytn.
the wing prob also last longer on a charge
but specwise is prob a pure hardware feature and power question more of an usability or requirement question

possibly, since a less powerfull processor requires less battery to run.

overclocking a cell phone? what's next, upgrading ram, installing nvidia video graphics cards and playing halo3? the nueclockcontrol program has 7065 downloads, but it doesn't seem like any of them are from xda, otherwise we would have heard something by now! nueclockcontroll can't overclock , it can only "underclock" :-(
but its a nice thread , maybe can anywhere "edit" the nueclockcontroll so we can overclock ?

What advantages would this have as the rest of the hardware is not designed for this ?

I already fried one Artemis playing this silly overclock game..I got the what I call "fading to black screen syndrome". I was extremely lucky that my device was still under warranty and that HTC assistance couldn't detect it was my fault. So it is obvious that I absolutely NOT recommend to use such tools, also because the advantage you could take is nothing compared to the disadvantage of a even more poor battery life

That is true....Maybe it, playing wit CPU clock speed, is reason because many coocked ROMs on ROM section our forum, have enormus battery drain usage...

Same here... Overclocked my HTC Touch. And killed it after a while..
(fortunately my warranty did the job after that^^ )
The tool "BatteryStatus" overclocked and underclocked the phone dynamic so it was battery friendly and faster..
It works great if you don't go too far with the processor speed
[edit] The cooked ROMs here are not overclocked I guess.. It would be mentioned to what mhz the ROMs clock our devices.
Tool "Battery Status" ? Have you link or can upload cab ?
Do you mind on Battery Guard maybe ?
Regards
I used BatteryStatus to overclock my HTC Touch. On the Topaz it does not over/underclock the cpu...
(At least I didn't find the option to change cpu speed)
overclocking
I would apreciate the possibility of dynamicly overclocking the TOPAZ.
I don´t find it that fast though, having disabled htc-sense, using spb MS 3.5 instead.
Maybe have to downgrad to MS 3 ..
I was so glad having BatteryStatus installed on my htc ELF, usually running with 200MHZ.
overclocked dynamicly between 112 - 299 (turbo-, basic 273) and my little elf was damn fast but economicly working with its battery.
Any app simular to BS for the Topaz would be worth donating at least € 10,--

Lag on MT3G...how to make ToonWarz run smooth

can somebody please tel me how to make my game Toonwarz run smooth on my mt3g. I unrooted it yeserday because i am getting a 8 gig class 6 sd card tomorrow, but it still runs kind of choppy on my stock phone with 1.6...please help
2 posts about the same thing and both of them are in the wrong forums. This is not Android Development. But here:
1. Download task killer and make sure you don't have any programs open that you don't need. Some of the can be quite a memory hogs.
2. Clear your maps/browser/StreetView/market caches to free up some space.
3. Contact developer with your concerns.
And please... post in the right section next time.
Good luck.
The GPU in that device and all other 1st gen phones are toooo old to play advanced 3D games at smooth frame rates. Newer phones like droid,N1,etc are better at gaming than Magic/Dream/Hero....I played that on magic and dream and it was slow on both...I stick to gbaoid or Snesoid....
iv'e seen people play toon warz on their g1 before and it runs smooth...and plus the processor difference between the mt3g and droid is only 28 mhz or so...so any other way to fix it?

Processor speed isn't everything. The Cortex (Droid) processors have much higher instruction throughput at the same clock speeds than the ARM11 (G1/mT3G).
NOT BUMPING THIS THREAD: Look, you're in the wrong section, you've been given suggestions, and there's not a magic button that will make it suddenly fast, especially on a stock phone. Oh, except make sure that "Settings->Applications->Development->Make phone faster with leprechaun magic" is checked. That gets a lot of people.

Actually after benchmarking few roms htcclays gamercore gives 26fps, some only 19. Try using this rom and set cpu to 528 min/max while playing to make sure it stays at full speed. also use Jit.
Dont use swap or compcache both are slow for gaming, have minor benefits with lots of widgets but slow down over time. You also dont need A2Sd either, running apps from phone memory is faster than any Sd (even class 6)
can you please tell me how to do this if i am re-rooting my phone...so the process from the beginning please

I had installed it before, but TF3D start in an endless loop.
I dont think so, Mega doesnt support 3D, missing OpenGL driver (if i am not wrong)
Chriss, indeed don't do this.....there are some people who have it on similar devices (not Mega). Requires a lot of development.
Only solution for now wait till somebody has it done and reports it working....

Correct me , but with only coping files and overclocking a few MHz above wouldn't do the job .... from all i've read , it seem that HARDWARELY Mega could't support TF3D , if i'm wrong then it's only a matter of time before some1 make our dream(1 of 2)* come true !

Yes it is completely faster, also in TouchFlo and Menu, Messages, Internet, ecc, ecc.
In my mega no extra heat of the phone. The only things is that the battery drains a little bit before...but life is same good...but with more speed increase

Yes, it is possible to run TF3D on Mega.
I have bought my Mega a month ago, and it is coming with TF3D from the operator or manufacturer.
It is running pretty good and fast. Battery lasts 4-5 days.
I think that these "Mega"s, that are produced last year are coming with TF3D and newer ROM from the manufacturer.
Could you post some pics with TF3D running and also the specs of your MEGA??
Because it is impossible to run TF3D with the original processor and RAM.

Well Google News just put this in front of me...

It looks to me like the Optimus X2 has some better drivers than we are working with here. Are we able to take those drivers if it turns out that they will work for us? Do we need to wait for them to release the kernel source?
I am a bit of a noob, but trying my best to learn lol

Average benchmark there was ~2500, and quadrant just put up a 2502 on Vegan. I would think there would be a greater improvement if the drivers were significantly better.
Quadrant is not good for measuring performance across devices... Their IO could be significantly slower than ours, or something like that which would explain the offset. Look at Neocore, that is way higher FPS than I get.
I just ran it... 48.6 fps
possible rom dump
I think this is a rom dump. It says 2x in the description not x2, so i'm not sure.
http://www.multiupload.com/FYKZ1D9XWT
That would be the correct name, I just typed it wrong. Sadly, I have no idea at all what to do with a rom dump . *hopes someone with actual skill sees this thread*

I believe the higher FPS on the phone, is due more to the lower resolution , than better drivers; at least in neocore.
