Does it really worth waiting for a good cooked rom which has Mun's new rom as a base? What is the difference between the old build and the new ona, except the numbers?

There's two (and probably more) answers to this...
1) We are a bunch of geeks and some simply have to have the highest version number no matter if there are any benefits or not
2) Its a new release, and people want to hack away at it and conquer the challange that mUn has given them (again, its a geek thing )

So, basically no difference except the new numbers, right?
Or maybe it has some bug fixes or anything like that?

Still seeing the "turn on screen" issue, if I understand the symptoms as you're referring. If the phone's not locked, every 30 seconds or so after the backlight goes out, it will "wake up", as if program updated.
Enabling device lock stops this behavior.

hi!, actually the issue happends when the lock option is enable and the phone is locked. After a few seconds or minutes the screen suddenly turns on. The only workarround that works is to uncheck the backlight auto turn off feature.
Lock option + turn off backlight enabled = issue
Lock option + turn off backlight disabled = no issue

I can confirm that it happens t some devices and doesn't happen to others.
I have T-Mobile MDA G3, my sister has the same T-mobile MDA G3 too. I have installed every single application that I have on mine to hers. And made two identical devices. (except she contumized her theme, sound, etc) And they both have the same ROM from the Faria's kitchen.
But, my device works fine, and doesn't have that waking up problem, whereas hers has.
So, this might help you to resolve the problem...

You know, it's no wonder why I feel so at home here! I could not have summed it up better myself. I might add bragging rights, but in my world when I tell someone I cooked my own rom and flashed my phone to the latest OS. People look at me like I am from Mars!! My wife says, "Thats nice Dear..."
In a word, no. I've already pulled the goodies from MUN's rom to make a better Business Edition. In other words, you can take out Office, .net CF SP2 and Windows Live and build a ROM based on an earlier build that is identical, more stable and requires less work. The latest BE will be released today to a few beta testers, and I can promise you that it will be more stable and less buggy than ANY of the 1413 builds. Better yet, it contains everything that BE2 had. Why have higher numbers when you can have a better ROM.

Glad to hear that you are working on this. I switched from your BE rom to one of the cooked new builds and I'm not impressed as my phone hangs alot and i have to soft reset way too much.. looking forward to your new release i the near future. Matter in fact I'm going back to the BE right now..

Let me edit this. I've got One Note working but the other components of Office will take a bit. I'm going to consult with the brains and get this ironed out. I believe Office 2003 will be sufficient for now.

Well, these are the symptoms of addiction. Experiencing this too. LOL.
I don't know if it is good or bad, but I know I am gonna stay away from this non-stop rom flashing for next 2-3 months since I am gonna totally be away from the internet during this next period of time...
reason is simple: speed.
Its Saturday and I've got nothing better to do than break my phone this morning
But I'm also wondering whether its worth bothering to upgrade from the previous WM6 build - I've got everything working pretty much as I like it at the moment.
Does the new build change anything with regards to Outlook when used with Exchange 2003 SP2? And is Office 2007 compatibility the only difference with Office Mobile 2007?
I have tried Timolol's WM6.5 and...I forgot the other...and this one was good for awhile but it's getting insanely buggy.
If you like the ROM you're on, and have been on it for a bit, then point me in the direction. I'd really like to use 6.5 but if I can't find a stable one, then I'll have to revert back to 6.1
Thanks
Energy Roms
DaG's WM6.5 21518 Clean ROM without MSVC is working very well for me.
Learn how to use UC and proper backup tools and then you can flash away and try as many roms as you want!
This is such an open ended question because many people have personal preference.
with that said. I would recommend NRG's EnergyROM, very stable 6.5, been using the june 30th version with a couple minor cosmetic issues, which i do not even remember what they are.
EnergyROM works also great and stable for me.
My experience was different from most those posting here. I found the 6.5's buggy. Third party calendar programs are particularly problematic (reoccuring events not even showing, to name one problem). I wanted to like the EnergyROM's... really I did... but alas, I went back to 6.1. So far, I'm experiencing stability with NATF v4.7 and liking it. I won't go back to the stock ROM.

Hi, have used PROven_ROM_2.4_WWE_Manila_TP (it's WM6.1) - very good,stable and fast.
Then got Energy 3.0 50409a MSVC Raph (wM6.5) and I'm absolutely happy with it. Didn't encountered any problem so far, NRG28 does his ROM's in top level-very professional!
If you want a clean ROM with very little battery usage go with RRE's or Da_G's for absolutely stock. NRG's uses way too much battery, I enjoy charging once every 2-3 days rather than once a day but to each his own..
The most stable and bug free ROM is the latest HTC official ROM. As Da_G said in other thread, there are serious issues in 6.5, so there is no such thing as stable 6.5 ROM - eventually you will face with unnacceptable bugs, like some of XDA members did...
Like what? I don't see many if any bugs that hinder my day to day activities in 6.5, it runs smoother, it's sleeker and unreleased to the public giving it that extra "shimmer", and the built in scrolling effects are just amazing.
What bugs are you speaking of??
WHAT???
pilgrim011- There is a bug free version of WM?
When did that happen?
I too like the energyroms.
I put my crap battery life down to not having found a decent UK T-mob radio yet rather than the rom

I was on the 6 hour flight and decided to play with the phone a bit out of boredom. It was locked up.
No problem soft reset. Continued to lock-up.
No problem, PIM Backup, Hard reset. Then the keyboard would not switch to ABC from 123.
No problem, switch to another SIP. It would hold the change; it kept switching back to the ROM default. No problem, just use the hardware keyboard. A couple of great days in Ireland and it was time to take a quick phone pic to send home. Camera would not work; missed the moment. Fiddled with it a bit, could not get it to work.
No problem, hard reset and try again. Camera works now, keyboard seems to have fixed itself, but phone turns off randomly.
No problem, flash another ROM I have on my storage card. Everything works now except the phone. It has a signal for 5 minutes, then no signal for 5 minutes, over and over.
No problem, switch to manual network selection, could not access the settings.
No problem, hard reset. Works fine now. Ready to take a quick picture at a golf outing where I did not lug my Nikon around. Phone has turned itself off again, missed the moment. Time to surf up some quick directions, IE locks-up.
No Problem, switch to Opera, takes forever to load, my sister already has the directions on her damn iPhone before opera even loads.

OK, don't get me wrong, there are things that I don't like - low in-call volume, TF3D is sometimes behaving weird etc., but there is always a .cab or .reg to solve these issues, and to tell you the truth, there are no serious issues with HTC ROM, phone is stable and solid as a rock. Of course, Energy ROMs are way faster and more pretty than official ROMs, but I prefer my battery life, stability etc. over speed, beauty and bugginess... And I don't want to flash my phone every 5 days.
Fair enough pilgrim011
Btw has anyone found a work around for the word completion on the keyboard that actually works regardless of wm version???
For what its worth I love/hate wm6.5- I hate that everyone now thinks that we have to have icons because we are too thick to use menus, if I really was that thick I would have purchased an iphone!!!

and I thought the reason we have all those iphone-alikes was so we could be almost cool enough to have an ibone. err.. iphone.
Hi,
I have a quick question: which build is equal to or most close to WM6.5 "RTM"?
I have been flashing new builds for quite a while (usually Da_G's) as they come out, but I've noticed that the point at which WM6.5 was "final" has come and gone. I'd quite like to roll back to the officially RTM build for a while, but I am not sure which build to pick?
Any advice or insight much appreciated.
Thanks,
Matt
... bump?
I am currently running 21234 but it doesn't seem all that stable.
Is there anyone who can advise on the best WM6.5 (not 6.5.x) build?
Matt
I stopped cooking after 21222 because of its stability.
I stopped after RRE 8.3, which is 23016.
I'll try a newer one here and there, but so far I don't like how they made some of the screens really big and spread out so you have to scroll to do simple tasks. I'm all for making it finger-friendly, but they need to make it not so fugly lol. Hopefully it'll get better.
Thanks guys
Yeah, I've been using 23016 for 6 weeks now. It's pretty sweet and bug-free. The new native kernel is really good-less ram usage and I find that my gps works a helluva lot better (go figure). I get locks on cold starts in just a few minutes reliably, even without a quick gps dump (I don't have aGPS). On warm starts, it's just a few seconds.
I'm not a huge fan of finger friendliness, so I've stayed away from the newer stuff. More finger friendly = less info on the screen + lots of scrolling to get anywhere. Sooner or later, all we'll have is on big stupid button on the screen.

Yeah I have settled on 23016 for now. I see bugs occasionally but it is extremely usable on the whole and very fast.
It will be interesting to see what build is included on official WM6.5 devices when they start being released.

I thought it was going to be 21234 and its cousins. They aren't going to release the new ones that we're using (at least not soon), I wouldn't think. I'm sure that the carriers like to work on the roms for several months or longer before releasing their version. AT&T put out their test rom here in january and didn't release the final version until june (with few changes). I doubt that the ones coming out soon will have all the new UI stuff that started with the 6.5.1 builds.
bump.
where it is possible to get rtm 6.5 ?
I don't think RTM 6.5 is out yet.
err on the xda main website they say that the final 6.5 build is complete but the newer builds that are coming out are from MS working on WM 6.5.1 builds.
Need to search to see what was the final 6.5 build.
http://www.pcdphones.com/phone_downloads.aspx?bid=128&cid=1&mid=356&carrier=Verizon
At least I hope so. I'm downloading it now.
Careful
HTC hasn't posted/released the WM6.5 upgrade for the Verizon TP2.
Verizon hasn't posted/released the WM6.5 upgrade for the Verizon TP2.
Therefore, I'd be careful of a supposed leaked "Official" ROM.
It's not leaked. PCD is the company being used to distro updates for phones. Someone has just flashed over at PPC and I think I am going to give it a shot too in a few minutes.
This is from the upgrade procedure that is included in the download zip.
The upgrade performs the following improvements:
1) OS Upgrade to Windows Mobile 6.5
2) Updated drivers to support Global VZ Navigator.
3) TouchFLO 3D Enhancements.
Congratulations! You have successfully upgraded your XV6875!
so what are the advantages of flashing this from mighty rom currently? Also the advantage in the radio?
Going to install soon!
This looks like the real deal. wmexperts is also reporting the same with links to the pcdphones site listed above. I have to wait to download but I am totally stoked it came out !!!!!
http://www.wmexperts.com/verizon-touch-pro-2-also-gets-official-windows-mobile-65-upgrade
This update has...
Window 6.5 Pro
CD: 5.2.21874 Build: 21874.5.0.83
Rom: 3.04.605.3
Date: 11/17/09
Radio: 2.23.00WV
PRL: 65072
PRI: 1.94_002
I get this info from PPC, and I think MightyMike extracted the radio already, not sure
I have been putting attention to all TP2 win6.5 updates since Im waiting for my sprint update, Im the type of person that prefer stock roms instead of cooked roms , sorry chefs, nothing personal
That took long enough... Surely there has to be more changes? wmexperts is reporting it also has Sense 2.1
To me it seems like a bit of an epic... Yippee... That's about it... Doesn't seem to do anything major to the phone - at least nothing compared to some of the cooks around here!
Sense is nice, and it's great that the 'my location' feature is active, but overall...
Not that impressed...

Many people confirmed that has Sense 2.1
I want to hear more feedback on this before I download.
I am downloading it right now and will flash as soon as its done and will report back with info about the rom soon.
EDIT: Manila 2.1
Problem fixed for 1X areas. No more error pops up.
Other than that i am looking forward for custom roms to be cooked with the new information from this rom for verizon users
I have already flashed the new stock rom, and I have also dumped it into a kitchen so that I can get rid of some of the crap ware. The stock version eats alot of memory. I got up to 75% in just a couple of minutes, and I was just going through the menus and seeing all that was installed.
It's just manilla 2.1 with colored icons on the slider and weather clock. Every thing else is pretty much the same as the custom 6.5 roms every one has been flashing as far as windows is concerned. At least its an approved verizon rom and now I can strip it and make my own version. This is what I have been waiting for. To bad there is not much eye candy with it.
It is a memory hog, but they have fixed the Bluetooth issue where you cannot hangup. Also, the incoming MMS images are full screen instead of small. And of course, the new radio.
i like it. did it last night. took about 4 minutes. it seems to be about the same speed as the 6.1 it shipped with. bluetooth works better. faster pairing with headset. will try to see if hangup works now. (dont have headset with me so i will test when home) i like the weather on home screen. nice upgrade. id recommend it.
I thought it was a good upgrade too.
The weather is nice. Finally I get to use the lock screen which I love. All cabs that gave you back memory seem to work. The camera with al the modes work too and some other stuff. This is a real treat for me since originally I didn't plan on getting the TP2 and then seeing 6.1 made me kind of sad (minus touch flow 3d). So yeah not only does it feel like a new phone but a new os too. I will definetly be able to make the wait for awesome Windows Mobile 7 phone (albiet full price).
Anybody getting an e-mail notice of "1" even though you have no un-read mail pending?
No I didn't get that. I would check every folder you have (could be in draft or something).
I noticed the all settings button didn't work. But I know now its Wktask which I love. But for some reason it is effecting me from going to settings. So I had to uninstall it. Now if I have this problem again its a bug and not WKtask's fault.
I had the Nexus S from the day it was launched but decided to return it within the 14 day cooling off period as I just didn't think it was worth the money and in its state at the time I didn't feel it was finished / polished as it should be.
Problems reported about the screen coating and the lack of responsiveness of the capacitive buttons also led me to the decision to return. I then started to hear stories of the phone not being able to hold a conversation for more than a few mins and the phone randomly powering off.
That was then and this is now. After the disappointment of MWC 2011 I am considering picking up the Nexus S again but I am interested to know what has improved since launch. I'm assuming the o/s has gone through a few updates and am hoping that the problems above are all now resolved.
Anything else anyone can add into the mix I would be interested to hear.
Never had a problem with it on phone #1. Didn't even have to return it.
CM7 on Nexus S is amazing.
The problems you listed have not been resolved.
Even with CM7 there are random reboots and lost of signal. Thes are gingerbread/google problems, not necessarily ROM related. Although I love the phone, it's not very stable.at least not compared to my ns1.
</signature>
This is worrying for a phone that's supposed to be at the bleeding edge as far as Google is concerned - a pthone that's meant to get all the updates as soon as they are available.
If Google know of these problems and have a fix in place (which I have read they do) then why not release it?

face it, gingerbread was not/is not ready for mainstream. yet so why would you want them to push out another update to fix a problem if that update just isnt ready yet?
Are you kidding me? I could live with a few niggling bugs, sure I'd even expect them but if I owned a Nexus S and it was dropping calls left right and centre I'd be looking for a fix pronto!
Fixes are due this week, supposedly (According to a video posted here). Engadget had a story on it here

That's probably not Gingerbread though, that's probably just flash in general.
And there is a G4 app on the market.
Ill admit that it is laggy at the beginning when its still loading, but after its done loading.. its fine, but sluggish and not 100% smooth.
Uninstall flash and try it......just as laggy!.......thanks for upping me on the app tho!
