[How To]Active Sync via Bluetooth - General Topics

Hi
I just finished figuring out, how to set up a connection to ActiveSync (AS) via Bluetooth. Thought I spread the word...
I’m German, so are my screenshots
If there are major flaws in my translation, let me know!
Tested multiple times on 2 Computers. Works fine for me...
Abstract:
1) set up a partnership
2) Add a new serial BT connection
3) Enable the new serial BT connection
4) Configure ActiveSync
5) Switch on BT on your mobile
6) Search for device and pair
7) Mobile BT config
1) Very important: You have to connect via cable (USB) first in order for AS to set up a partnership!
2) On your PC, open the advanced BT configuration. You do this by right-klicking on the BT symbol in the tray (1). Go to local services and add a new serial bluetooth connection (3) (a ComPort).

You can make sure, the ComPort has been added by opening your Device Manager and checking, if the approproate Port shows upt under connections:
3)Now go to "My Devices" (1) by double clicking the BT try icon:
Double click on "My Devices" and look for the serial BT connection. Right click and choose "enable"
continued in post #2 !!!

4) Set up AS to use the established Com Port: Open AS on your Computer, got to Connection settings and enable “connect to this por” and choose the appropriate Com Port:
[/URL]
5) Enable BT on your device:
6) Now go back here and search for BT Devices (2):
Right click on the device which you want to use for ActiveSync, and choose "pairing":
continued in post #3 !!!

A window pops up, asking for a password, use 4 or so characters and hit OK:
Over to your mobile:
A message comes up asking whether you want your PC to connect or not. Of course, you want to!
And then you have to type in the former set password:
Now very impotant: Right after you typed in the password and hit ok, go to your PC and CKLICK ON THE BT-ICON in the try (2)! A Message pops up asking if the device is allowed to use the previously set up BT serial connection. Tick "always" (1) ! And confirm:
continued in post #4 !!!

7) On your mobile, check "active sync" on the device options:
10) Open AS and connect to your PC via BT!
Thats it! Hope this helps someone out there..
AO
PS limiting of pics and BB code sucks for HowTos!

how can i delete unnecessary Com Ports from my device manager?
Every time I delete them and hit refresh, they come right back!
thx
AO

1) Very important: You have to connect via cable (USB) first in order for AS to set up a partnership!
Click to collapse
Obsolete.
Anyway, here is my very simple 3 step formula for establishing ActiveSync connection via bluetooth on WIDCOMM Bluetooth (the way I do it).
1) Add a bluetooth com port (rt-click bluetooth icon -> Advance config -> local services -> com port). Remember the com port number.
2) Goto ActiveSync -> File -> Connection settings. Check all the check boxes and select the same com port you selected in step # 1.
3) Pair your device with your PC. Now it will show the "ActiveSync" service when the pairing is completed in the services found on the paired device list.
4) Goto ActiveSync on your Device -> Menu -> Connect Via bluetooth.
End of the story.
If you face any problem, your PC or PPC is not working. Hardreset them. Trust me, it'll work!

Windows doesn't find my S710?

Hey guys,
I'm having a little (big) problem with my HTC S710 (Windows Mobile 6.1).
I used to put MP3's, CABs and AVI's on my mobile through a USB-cable. Whenever I put a USB-cable in my phone everything worked right away, and an 'Removable Device' was found on my PC.
However, now when I put the cable in my phone (and PC) nothing happens (the phone starts to charge, but my PC acts like nothing happens, it doesn't even say 'New Hardware has been found').
I'm running Windows 7 (people reported Windows Mobile Device Center having issues with Windows 7, but it used to work on Windows 7 so that's not the problem).
Things I tried:
2 different cables
Reinstalling Windows Mobile Device Center
Updating Windows Mobile Device Center (to latest version, 6.1)
Unticking 'Enable advanced Network functionality' in Settings
Manually run ActiveSync on my mobile (and PC)
Restarting the PC (doh)
Restarting the phone (doh)
Looking in my phone-settings, couldn't find anything strange
Booting in safe-mode
My laptop doesn't have Bluetooth so that's not an option.
I tried all kind of things from the internet, but just nothing seems to work. It's not a problem with my USB, because whenever I put my digital camera in my laptop everything works just fine (with the same cable).
I hope someone can help me here...

It looks like you were using WM5torage, didn't you? And now it is disabled. Because standardly your device is not shown as removable drive. I should be wrong, because I don't know, how W7 are working.
Try to pair your device via WMDC and you will see, if it will work.
Can you give me instructions on how to do that?
Thanks in advance
Sorry, I can't, because I don't have W7.
But I have Windows Mobile Device Center for Windows Vista installed so it should be the same
Then it might be same as in Vista. You have to connect your device with USB cable and everything should be done automatically. If not, you might try this two things:
1) Open WMDC and click on connection settings (I am not sure in this english translation, because I have czech one). Check, if USB cable is allowed. If yes, go to step 2
2) You might try disabling advanced USB functionality via settings->connections->more->usb to pc and uncheck box on your device (not computer)
Now, your device and computer should pair with no problem and you can browse your device with no problems.
I can't help you with WM5torage, because I am not using it.
Thanks for your help, but:
@1: The checkbox was already ticked
@2: As stated in my first post, I already tried that (without any luck )
Thats all weird. Just one thing. When you start ActiveSync on your device and open connections. Do you have checkbox ticked and USB selected?
And second thing. You wrote, that you have W7. Did you have your device paired on that same configuration and W7 build and just lost your connection? Or you had your device paired on oldest build of W7 or Vista?

The checkbox is ticked, yes.
It was paired on previous build of Windows 7, but I already removed those synchronisation profiles on my S710, so it's now paired with 0 computers..
So in your device, there is no paired computer and in computer is no paired device?
Exactly
That is really weird. Maybe some W7 bug? WMDC bug? I have no ideas how to solve that...
I have no idea too, someone else?
PS Thanks for your help
Here how i solved it...
I had the same problem until i did a new search for driver on a unknown device in the device manager. My problem was that the driver that windows 7 tried to install didnt work but after a new search it found a better one and after that it worked perfectly! Good luck!

Thank you for the tip but I don't understand...
1. Why wouldn't I connect my Android to the Ad hoc network created on a second network adapter on my PC (in my case a second wifi adapter)?
2. On my PC, no "Android Tether" shows up in my wifi list. On my G2x, "Android Tether" shows up as Not in Range, along with Use_ZT180_Adhoc_Switcher, and Warning_Adhoc_Mode. (I also have a guy transmitting AndroidAP5070 but I think it's someone next door.) There is no change to the status information icons.
3. Is my phone possessed??? It is browsing Internet sites while Data is disabled but not in Airplane mode, and connecting to Wifi while in Airplane mode. Maybe this is affecting my results with ZT-180?
Thanks again.
for the ones that this is working for. Please give Rom/Kernal info. Thanks
disconnect by it self
after zt show (connected) it disconnect by it self
os win XP
kernel :2.6.32.9-perf

[APP][2.1+] Shutdown Start PC Remote

Hey guys,
I want to present you my newest app "Shutdown Start Remote". Like the title says, you can remote shutdown, restart, hibernate and start your PC.
I often watch movies in the evening and control the VLC Media Player with a app. It was really annoying to get up and shutdown the PC after that. I needed a solution for this situation.
Here is a list of the features:
-Supports Windows, Mac and Linux
-Easy setup with network scanner
-Intuitive design
-No installation required (only run a Java application)
-All screen sizes supported
-Possibility to choose between shutdown, restart and hibernate
-Wake on Lan
You can find out more about this app and a detailed instruction on my homepage.

Hi,
I just wanted to let you know, that a new version is out, which has a option to choose a special theme. For example Android 3.x and 4 now can use the Hole themes. I hope you enjoy the feature
Need a program for PC?
Yes, you need a program to shut down the PC. To start a PC you don't need it. It is a small .jar file (java) running in the background.
Looks great, trying it
Thanks Please let me know whether everything works or you have any problems.
Hi. I'm having problems with this app.
I've got the JAR file on my computer. And the app is also picking up my computer when they go to scan it. However when I click on my found device nothing happens. Then around 10-15 second later an option will pop-up saying "Could not find the PC".
Is there a way to fix this?

Same here finds PC but won't connect
nice app, works for me. Some issues/suggestions
-I had to manually enter my IP address for it to even see my PC.
-It notifies me of me using a ad blocker app even though i'm not and never have.
-suggestion: I didn't exactly know how to use the app, you should make a "tutorial" phase first...
I saw the timer, pressed it and it went to 000000 and on my PC a message popped up saying "windows is shutting down"
I think you should put a option there saying something like "Press this to cancel shutdown/restart/hibernation etc."
for people who can't connect:
Instead of searching, press menu and enter the ip manually.
If you don't know your ip, first of all you should be ashamed of yourself, and then give yourself a facepalm
then if you have windows, type cmd in the search and then in the cmdprompt type ipconfig and get the IPv4 or IPv6 ip, the ipv4 is shorter for me.
tried those and still the same result ;[
great app, i do the same thing! can you add a "sleep" function for windows? I find this more useful than shutdown or hibernate.
Hi,
Thank you for the suggestions.
Referring to your problems: if you can't connect although the network scanner found your PC, then your firewall is blocking the connection. The scanner works on another IP address and port than the real connection. So please check your firewall settings.
The network scanner uses following address: 239.1.2.3
The manually inserted IP uses one of the following ports: 57143, 57144, 57145
The final connection uses port 52899 and higher.
@NguyenHuu: No I can't add the sleep function. Windows only has the possibility to shutdown, reboot and hibernate. However you can take a deeper look into the windows settings. It is possible to use the sleep function instead of hibernate. If you see a sleep option in the start menu, then hibernate in my app let's your PC sleep.
@xriderx66: Hm I thought the handling was simple. Isn't the instruction point enough? How would you change it?
Sounds like a neat app. I'd like to check it out but I guess it doesn't support the Droid1.
Definitely won't hold that against you though, my phone is OLD! (But I'm looking forward to an upgrade next month!)
Yes, unfortunately at least Android 2.1 is required.
Hi,
Two weeks ago I've published the new version of the app. I've updated the first post.
really nice app...
can you add a support for dynDNS. I can only insert an IP number.
App worked instantly for me, great app! Thank you for sharing this

The [email protected] works great! I attached some screenshots taken with [email protected] and two screenshots taken with my PC of the application.
I can't use AirDroid entering in http://192.168.1.4:8888 in PC's internet browser, needed to enter in web.airdroid.com and scan QR code.

Question [Resolved] How Does One Transfer Photos from Windows 10 to a P7P?

I can transfer from the P7P to my Windows 10 computer but cannot figure out how to do the reverse.
You can't just copy and paste when you have your phone connected to the PC?
Anyway, maybe try Nearby Share.
I tried dragging a JPG from my computer to the
but get this message: "

I admit I didn't look at the speed, but I regularly send files to my PC or vice versa from my PC to my P7P and it is almost instantaneous.
Really fast
I read the news report about Nearby Share Beta for Windows Release...
It's a beta release. I don't do betas. To me, a beta release is nothing but bugs and trouble, and being neither a cellphone nor a computer geek, I don't need the aggravation.
Also, I haven't started to figure out Blue Tooth.
It appears that I therefore won't be able to copy files to my P7P but...
somewhere along the line my P7P has a photo that I must have transferred from my PC, so I need to take a look at that.
Sounds like your cord or port isn't working correctly, try a different cord and/or port. This happened to me and I just plugged into a different port and never had a problem since.
I finally figgered out how to transfer files back and forth between my computer and the P7P. Then I wrote down the exact procedure so I won't forget.
And you're not going to share what worked, in case someone else has a similar problem?
Oops - forgot the procedure
I wanted to include images in this, but I haven't gotten that far with my P7P yet. So here is how I set my P7P up and how I transfer photos back and forth:
TRANSFERING FILES BETWEEN COMPUTER AND PIXEL 7
Configure the P7P:
Turn the phone and the computer on.
Using a 24-pin USB-C cable, connect the P7P to any USB-2 or USB-3 port on the computer. Be sure all 24 connector pins are present at each end of the cable. Not all USB-C cables have 24 wires. If the computer does not have a USB-C connector, use a USB-C to USB-2 adapter.
From the P7P Home screen, tap "Settings". A "Settings" menu should appear.
Tap "Connected devices". A "Connected devices" menu should appear.
Under "Other devices", tap "USB /file Transfer". If "USB - Charging this device" appears, you can tap that. A USB Preferences menu appears with "USB" centered on the next line.
NOTE: "USB File transfer" may appear instead of "USB - Charging this device". In that case, just tap "USB File transfer".
A "USB Preferences" menu should appear.
Under "USB controlled by" tap "This device". Under "Use USB for", tap "File transfer / Android Auto".
Now open Windows Explorer on the computer. You should see "Pixel 7" or "Pixel 7 Pro" and a cellphone icon along with the drive list. You can now transfer files using the following procedure.
Transfer the Files:
Start the computer, open Windows Explorer, connect the USB-C cable to the computer, and start the P7P. You should hear the usual "bloop-de-bloop" from the computer, and the P7P's Home screen should appear.
In Windows Explorer, double-click the blue "Pixel 7 Pro" icon. A menu should appear and you can now move/copy files back and forth.
I transfer between Windows Explorer and "Pixel 7 Pro\Internal shared storage\DCIM".
If you enable developer options you can set default usb to file transfer and skip a few steps.
