Problem with AutoKeyLock & Vito copy/paste...

Hi there,
I just discovered the AutoKeyLock program and immediately hit the problem with "Cannot hook the keyboard".
So I renamed my VitoCopyPaste.exe to .eze and rebooted.
This allowed AutoKeyLock to work.
Just out of interest, I renamed VitoCopyPaste back to .exe and it ran fine. So that suggests to me that both applications can co-exist as long as AutoKeyLock is started first.
So, 65000$ question, is there any way to control the startup order?
BTW I'm running Dr. Gonzo's WM 6.1 ROM on my Vox if that makes a difference?

You can't use both apps on your vox, you must choose one or the other.

That's not true! I have them both working when I automatically start AutoScreenLock and manually start copy/paste.
I can see them both in task manager, Honestly!

No, if autokeylock is launched first (screensaver active), vito copypaste don't work, if vito copypaste is launched first, autokeylock don't work.
It's a fact, only one soft can hook the keyboard.

I am using "SmartToolkit 1.0.0.RC08" for: autokeylock, copy/paste and key mapping, ( "celle task" is mapped on center d-pad button).

Believe you, yes that you can run both binaries at the same time.
The $65,001 question (which is what Fireburned is trying to say), is if both applications actually function when running together?

Running the two apps is ofcourse possible, but the beauty is they wont work simultaneousely . Its very simple, how can two apps lock the same hardware device? Think about it. You are using a dialup modem and are already connected to some network through it, now you start and another dialer and again want to use the same modem to dialup some other network, is it possible ?

Shaunak.it, I don't know too much about Windows Mobile but in other OS's you have the concept of chaining where several programs can register an interest in a particular interrupt or device.
Thinking about it, WM must support something similar, otherwise how does the screenshot program see the * key pressed whilst both AutoKeyLock & Vito Copy & Paste are running?
Returning to my original question, is there any way to control the order that programs are started at boot time?

Yeah! the other program will get access to the device only after the first service let go of it's hold

try to make an sms text message and use vitocopypaste to select some words and cut/paste it somewhere else.
you will notice it doesn't work, because a carriage return is automatically inserted when keylock releases the hook to vitocopypaste.

A Widget to quickly enable/disable ADB over wifi. It will work over WIFI or Hotspot. IP and Port information will be shown on the icon. SU access may needed depends on your ROM and in that case, it would be slower (experimental).

- Info on the icon can be enabled/disabled.
- The label under the icon can be customized or completely disabled

No software required on PC
Nothing needed on PC other than the ADB itself of course.
Make sure Debug mode is enabled on your phone.
this is the command on PC:
ADB connect IPORT
IP will be shown on the icon when you enable it and you can set port (also will be shown on the icon).
you should be on the same network with your phone, you cannot use 3G IP to connect it on the internet.

Dumb question: How do I do this?
I've got USB Debugging checked in Settings -> Applications -> Development, but that doesn't seem to do the trick to use ADB via WiFi.
I'm running Ruby 1.1.1 on an HTC Incredible, Super User Mode is checked (widget doesn't seem to work without it), and the widget says it's enabled, shows me the IP/port, but adb simply says "unable to connect to 192.168.1.xxx:5555" (I changed the port to 5555).

I take it that you've granted the application superuser permissions? You need to then need to activate the widget and adb connect xxxxxxx

Yes, it has permissions in superuser. I tap the widget to activate, it turns green and displays my phone's IP address + port. I open up a command window (w/ admin privileges, though that doesn't seem to matter), run "adb connect IPort" and get the "unable to connect" message.
adbWireless doesn't work either.

Where are you using this app? is it on your home network or a work/university? Because I also cannot connect in university, I've found a fix for it thats need a trick. I will add the trick to next version (Maybe I do it tonight, stay tuned), I hope it also work for you.
Just a test, can you use programs such as file managers to remotely access a share folder on your computer? because you should be on the same folder to do this.

Check the updated version. Enable Change mask option and set different mask values. It fixed on my university's network with "255.255.0.0". you need to check the computer ip and your phone ip and determine what mask you should use. The goal is to make phone that you are on the same network as the computer.
Also a bug fixed.

What this??? What all these "←[" mean???

Those are escape codes. With the right terminal program, they can control the cursor or change colors among other things. They are coming from whatever shell your ROM is running.
As for me, there must have been something wrong with my Ruby installation. The widget worked just fine after restoring a nandroid of Virtuous, and works great on my wife's Droid running Sapphire.

If I leave this toggle unchecked, the widget never turns green to indicate a connection is possible.
When it is checked, everything works as expected.
Is this toggle giving the widget su permission, or is it to grant permission to the wireless adb connection?
Please clarify the function of this toggle.

Access SD card from another device

This thread shows how to channel your SD card through your wireless router, therefore making your SD card accessible from most devices (tested on PC, Android and iOS). Please note that your phone and the device must be connected to the same network.

The IP and authentication info will be displayed. The URL (which is located in the third line) will be entered in the address bar of the browser in the other device. The username and password will also be required so please remember it ^_^
So on my phone it says "http://192.168.1.102:8080", so I type "http://192.168.1.102:8080" in the browser of another device.
Enter the password and done! You've accessed your phone's SD card from another device.
Please note:
1. This may not work on all devices, ranging from hosting the HTTP server to accessing the SD card from another device.
2. This may not work on all browsers as they may not have the specifications required to access the HTTP server.
3. The username/password can be changed in the File Expert settings or you can COMPLETELY disable any authentication.

This would be great, if it would work on my phone. Unfortunately it didn't. I tried it on an HTC Desire powered with MIUI, and after entering the URL in a browser of another android phone (and on a desktop comp), nothing happens. It may be a setting by me tho (probably on the router?), which I didn't find yet.

I have been using this File Manager App since I got my very first android phone. I don't know why people keep buying and recommending apps that work exactly the same way (or maybe even better for File Expert's case) but cost very high. Duh.

I tested that on 2 different cyanogenmod 7 devices

This is pretty slick. The current version also offers Bluetooth sharing support over OBEX FTP although that part is rather unstable on my laptop (crashes explorer for some reason). That isn't an issue with the app though. That's a known problem on my laptop that I don't know what's causing it.

I just tried this out - it looks great and the web sharing is incredibly easy to use, thanks!

Installed, and gonna try it tomorrow. I will leave you guys a feedback.

- Both my computer and Xperia X10i are connected to the same Wifi network
- I'm using WB-XPERIA TW Gingerbread Rom if that may account for anything

I have never came across this problem. You could try playing with the File Expert settings, enabling/disabling things and getting to a conclusion. It could be a problem with your ROM, your router or the compatibility with the app. I have noticed that the HTTP server closes when I change to another app (even though it says File Expert's still running). You could try using a different app from the market (there are loads), just type 'web sharing' in the Android Market and see what you get

4- Select the app you want to block or allow (depends the mode you have selected) and chose WIFI or Network. (what i do is the app that i want to synchronies while i'm at home with my wifi i blog only the network and it work fine)
Little trick if you want to tick all the app you have a little icone at the right after network ans VPN that says 'unselect all" or "reverse"
5- Open the menu and select the firewall rules. if it is already active, select just apply the rules.
6- you can edit profile (it's really cool if you often go out of you country area) really simple
Just up of the Option mode select profile edit (don't really now it i translated well there a picture)
When done you can select the profile by the maine windows :
7- When you are done APPLY THE RULES
The rules will be saved and automatically restored when you restart your phone.
if you want to check the active rules, select -> see the rules in the options menu.

Hi, normaly you need to ennable support VPN
1- menue
2- option
3- Enable VPN
i think it will work, i don't use VPN only DATA 3G and WIFI
come back if it doesn't wok

Mine does not have VPN in options but I have enabled it in settings. I only need it use Wi Fi VPN when I am travelling.

I've been in contact with Jason (the developper) he is aware of the VPN problem and it is on his roadmap.
He gave me a workaround:
just add permissions for "Applications running as root" and it should work.
For me it did.

Streaming media issue (youtube, ted, browser...)
I have wifi access enabled for youtube, TED, dolphin browser. I am on wifi. When I enable the firewall, I cannot stream media to the phone. On TED for example, I can download a video and then watch it but I cannot stream it. Any idea which other application I must enable to get this to work?
When I disable the firewall, I can stream video in all applications.
Any help is much appreciated.

And by "enable" media server you mean tick media server so it does NOT have access or not?
I'd like to know your reason to why you suggest so.
Also, can you suggest a good firewall. I'm confused between some apps.

@control freak I don't know why but it worked for me. You just try to give media server internet access, pay attention to white list and black list.

This looks good but I have one question/concern.
How does the remote know which application to send the macro commands too? In other words, that VLC tab you have will only be useful if VLC is your currently active window.
It would be nice if each macro command could be directed towards a specific application running on your computer. If I want to control my iTunes music via remote, I don't want to maximize it first.

That is a very good question! I've thought about this and it still needs some work. With the server being programmed in Java it means I don't have access to external sources like window names and other useful things. It would mean I need to use the system API's (which of course then means I would need to figure out a way to get it to work on Linux and Mac too). Which means its going to be a pain in the ass. Fortunately must commonly used applications listen out for hot keys regardless of focus.
A simple solution would be? :

Have you thought about being able to write a custom function on the Android phone then pushing that to the server then executing it?

Yes, well the idea was that you set-up all of your macros on the computer before hand (prevents security issues). Since you will only need to write the macro once.
I developed this to function as an AIO remote to be used with any software and OS on your computer (where other remote controllers fail). I would of continue developing it, but it seems nobody is interested or doesn't understand what it does fully. I think I might just release the Pro version for free.

I would try and offer some ideas but as you said it lies with using System API's.... Would be a huge improvement if you did manage to figure it out.
And yes the XDA feedback is sometimes.....
