Social worker w/ Tilt having trouble after flashing - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Windows Mobile ROM De

After spending hours reading through the FAQ's and all on how to flash I finally took the leap and did it, flashing my AT&T Tilt to Dutty's DualTouch v3 Final.
*1* Unfortunately my usual 3G isn't working.. When I go to the Communication Manager and select (under the 3G logo) "Change to GSM mode" (to force it into 3G) it shows at the top that there is no service. Is this a radio issue? I know about radio's except **I can't find where to look on my Tilt to see what current radio it is using**..
also, There is an "H" in the upper task bar instead of the usual 3G or E (Edge). I guess this stands for HSDPA?
1.B. When I try to check my gmail account it says "Cannot connect for unknown reason".. I can't figure out why in the settings.
(Other, less important issues below, from unimportant to really unimportant)
2. How can I make it so the leading "zero" goes away in the time? (i.e. 03:00pm)
3. How can I change the date to make it "american style" (month/day/year)
4. How can I get rid of the anti-aliased look in the print?
5. how can I activate the cube look to check it out?
I guess if I can't get the email and all working I'll just switch it back to the old AT&T ROM and re-remove the bloatware
Thanks for your information and help!!

Turn of hidden proxy to get the internet working. And there is no Cube on version 3

Turn off hidden proxy?
How do I turn off the hidden proxy??
I googled that and searched the threads and couldn't find anything about turning off hidden proxies..
(New user + social worker + 2 posts = Going to require step by step in all likelihood)

Okay, Let me find the link for you

Download and install this cab
Link

4. How can I get rid of the anti-aliased look in the print?
Start/settings select screen. Goto clear type and uncheck it.

3. How can I change the date to make it "american style" (month/day/year)
Start/settings then goto system tab and select regional settings. Then goto the last tab date...You can change it there.

Hexane, I just flashed an AT&T Tilt with the same ROM. If you did the hardSPL you should be OK...to check your radio number power your phone down and restart...when it comes back on the number in red after the letter "R" is your radio number. I even flashed a ROM with a different radio number then what I had and my phone kept my old radio number...not sure if it was suppose to but it works. The H is for HSDPA which essentially is "3G"...my phone switches between showing the H and 3G, but it works either way. When you go into Comm manager, does it have the blue on button at the bottom beside 3G?

2. How can I make it so the leading "zero" goes away in the time? (i.e. 03:00pm)
settings --> System --> Regional Settings
Goto Time tab and select time style as h:mm:ss that will remove the leadin zero
3. How can I change the date to make it "american style" (month/day/year
settings --> System --> Regional Settings
Goto date tab and select the Date format in there,
5. how can I activate the cube look to check it out?
search for slither cube in xda forums and install it from there.
ask me if you don find the links

From now on if I have a question I will put the same magic words:

Thank you I will give a try! Thank you!
PS: on my previous comment on the connection manager, sorry yes it is there my mistake, although there is no option to turn off the GPRS (Edge) connection! (there is only WIFI, Bluetooth and Phone).
Also do you think you can solve this other small issue? "when I receive a sms and i am still in the inbox, in the home screen the vox indicates me like I still have to read the sms (new sms) while I have already read it because i was in the inbox chatting when I received it! can you correct this? thanks"

How to turn off bold font i.e. in right softkey menu or in contact list? (Or - how to change the whole phone font?) I don't have time to search for responsible registry key
And thanks for your ROM, I'm a huge fan
Good work zeeshee, keep it up!
Any chance of making 4x4 icon grid in the start menu? 4x3 still looks better than 3x3 in the original ROM, but 4x4 would fit there perfectly.
Nice work, Zeeshan. Thanks a ton!
Got installed last night. I think, in the first instance, the performance of this ROM is really better than any of the previous ROMs, especially in terms of RAM consumption. Yet to explore more abt the same. Will give more feedback after that...

I don't have the black bar problem this time! I wonder how you people get it. In fact, I had straightaway switched to another background, without sliding panel. May be thats why I didn't realize.
I am using the "slide media" theme + SmartToolkit RC09 and I have the black bar problem!

Hey, I changed my homescreen back to Sliding Panel. I too have whatever you have mentioned on my homescreen, but I am not getting the black bar.
Anyway, there is a work around, if you are still facing the problem, which is as follows:
You will have to edit the following two files in windows folder:
CHome_240x320.cpr
CHome_320x240.cpr
Copy the same to your pc and open with notepad. The files are ReadOnly. So just remove the ReadOnly attributes for these files.
For CHome_240x320.cpr file,
Change the "Height" property for Image element to 313 (in Line no. 2)
Similary, for CHome_320x240.cpr file,
Change the "Height" property for Image element to 233 (in Line no. 2)
Save the files and copy back to the windows folder using Resco or Total Commander. And Soft-reset. You are done.
Hi!
I have checked this files and the value is already the right one!!
See below, I am not joking I have the black bar...
PS: there is a way to show more calendar events on the homescreen? thanks

Need Help with 2 things

hi, i needed help with 2 issues:
1, I want to change the homepage of my pocket Internet Explorer to Google. i have read the tweaks on the vox wiki suggesting:
(Change Pocket IE Homepage: HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Internet Explorer/AboutURLs/home_0410 Change the homepage to whatever you want.)
The problem is after exploring my registry to that page, i do not have a "home_0410" in my list, so therefore which one am i meant to edit????
2, I have TCPMP, and i want the KEYPAD back light to go off after 10secs when the video is being played on full screen mode, rather then 30secs. Is there a tweak to do that???
i have read the registry tweak on vox wiki, that does turn off the KEYPAD light after 10secs when you're using the phone itself, but doesn't do it for TCPMP when watching a video in full screen mode.
Would appreciate some ideas. thanks
use modaco's ie google search tool.
You can find it in this thread of Paul, together with other handy tools.

Are you on a stock ROM or a cooked one?
I'm not on any modified rom, i'm on the original WM6.0 rom, with the official HTC update applied. My S710 is a unlocked UK version, which is also application unlocked as well.

To change the homepage all you have to do is go to Tools - Options - Home Page. You can choose Default Custom Or Current (wm6.1)
i have not got a homepage option in my IE. I am also on wm6.0 standard

Actually we are so hooked up to cooked ROMs by gr8 cookers in this forum, we often forget what comes with the shipped ROM
That's true. I tried not having sliding panels the other day but had to change back straight away. Anyhoo, here's my homepage(not finished) for wm6.1 kuljit55 if you want to see

which file in the registry did u edit in order to select this as your homepage? and what exactly do u need to type in the value box? e.g. do u need to keep the "file//:" in front of your desired website address? or like end your desired address with ".htm" ??
no one here seems to explain it in simple detail
hi, here's what i just found
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\AboutURLs and change the value under home. I made my page with notepad because there was very little code and put it and the pics in the root of my phone. I assume to have a website as your homepage you just put the normal http://
Hope this helps
ok thanks, i have managed to sort it out, you was right. thanks alot. now i jus need a solution for the back keypad light for TCPMP issue. I do not want to try the phonealarm suggestion because that seems to mess up the settings of the phone.

As for the keypad light, I don't really see this as an issue. Is having it go off after 30 seconds instead of 10 a problem?
For it to go off after 30 secs is standard, but i mean to save battery it will be nice if it can somehow go off in 10 secs as the vox is not too good on battery. My previous HTC Tornado was excellent on battery, keypad back light went off in 10 secs standard, however that was running on Wm2003SE.
If any solutions for this issue, please do provide. thanks
Can't think of anything about the light issue except installing styletap and an app called kb lights off but i don't think that would work. With it being an emulator of palm i don't think it would actually change any settings

[Q] Maximum connection speed = 3G? Why?

Hello,
I've just followed the procedure explained in this thread LINK in order to enable the network sharing option on my Samsung Omnia 7, but now there's something a bit strange.
Also, I want to thank the author of that procedure (can't post in his thread because of the limitations of my new account).
If i tap the "Cellular network" tab in the phone settings now I see a new selection tab named "Maximum connection speed", wich I haven't got before doing the procedure:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
(before the update I only had got - at this height of the tab - Roaming options and Network selection...no trace of that "Maximum connection speed")
If i tap the selection box i can choose from 2 options: E (edge) and 3G.
I don't see H (hsdpa) option and now 3G is the chosen option.
If i use my connection i see the 3G icon at the top of the screen become H, as always, but I'm confused and I don't know if the navigation speed is the same as before...
Is that normal? How can I test my speed?
By the way I made a backup, so I can restore my phone if it's needed!
3G is HSDPA (in some countries 3.5G/HSDPA+). 3G is only the network used for texting and video/calling, whereas mobile internet is connected through the form of HSDPA via 3G network. It's like 2G/EDGE and 4G/LTE.
I thought that selection would have affected the navigation speed, but not in this case.
Thank you!

Yes, it's a Samsung related thing.
They chose to use 3G+ instead of H to refer at HDSPA...meh.
By the way, using the "Advanced Configuration" homebrew I was able to change that weird icon from 3G+ to the classic H.
Ps. Magus, sei tu? XD
A few questions asked here:
Why did this option appear?
It's actually supposed to be there, but some OEMs or mobile operators hide it by default. Many homebrew tweaks un-hide it (it's just a single registry value).
What does it do?
It lets you force the phone to use 2G (including EDGE) instead of 3G (including HSPDA). There are two reasons you might do this: to save battery (3G is a battery hog, relatively speaking) or because you have a very marginal 3G signal but a strong 2G one and therefore actually get a better connection if you force the phone to use 2G.
How can I test my speed?
There are a number of ways. The marketplace has several apps for bandwidth testing (though some provide wildly inaccurate results). You can also tether your laptop to the phone (using either the USB cable and a small tweak, or using the built-in Internet Sharing feature over WiFi) and then use a standard bandwidth test site like http://speedtest.net (which uses Flash and is therefore not usable in the phone's browser).
Hope that helps!

[Non-root] Stock Verizon Note 5 APN Settings Editing

Hello Verizon Note 5 XDA members, I myself am a owner of the Verizon Note 5, eagerly awaiting, and looking for ways to gain root on this phone.
Unfortunately we do not have it fully as of yet. So in the mean time I have been messing around, looking for things I can do without rooting.
I am unsure if anyone else has found this method, or posted it to any other websites, however I have not noticed this posted on XDA nor have I found any accurate
posts on how to change APN settings, unless the phone is from a different carrier other than Verizon.
TL;DR - Here's a method I believe I found for changing APN Settings without root.
My phone specs is the first screenshot in the steps.
I DO NOT TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY TO ANY AND ALL DAMAGES TO YOUR PHONE THAT THIS MAY CAUSE. DOING THIS YOU ACCEPT AND USE THIS METHOD AT YOUR OWN RISK WITHOUT HOLDING ME LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES.
First things first, I am unsure if this will work for lower versions, or any other model. Or if any other phone may contain this. My model and version is this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Also note, my APN Settings are greyed out, blocked, be whatever you want to call it.
Step 1. Clear all recent apps, or just make sure you do not have settings opened in the background processes. As this will stop you from reaching the bypass in step 6 and it will show the usual greyed out/blocked add button.
Step 2. Download Activity Launcher, or use any software that allows launching of app activities. I suggest Activity Launcher only due to this is the app I was using at the time I found this.
Step 3. Open Activity Launcher, and make sure All Activities is selected in the top left corner. It could take a few seconds, to a minute to load them all depending on how many apps you have installed.
Step 4. Locate the activity called "com.test.LTEfunctionality" without quotation marks. It should be near the bottom of the list in Activity Launcher. Expand the drop down by clicking on the activity once so it looks like the screenshot.
Step 5. Click on LTE Test to launch this activity. What launches should look like this screenshot below.
Step 6. Scroll down until you see LTE APN Setting as in the screenshot below. Then click it.
Step 7. Profit from changing your APN Settings to however you please.
To enable the APN, you must select it from the screen on Step 7, it will not show up in your usual Settings>Mobile Networks>Access Point Names. It will also appear as you have no APN selected in the usual APN screen. To modify your APN's again, you will have to go through all of the above steps again starting from Step 3.
Sorry, if I'm not in the know but why would I want this?
Thanks

You don't.. There's no need to change your APN (Access Point Name) when your phone is already set up to properly receive calls, texts and data. This will not do anything towards helping to root at all.. You would need this if you were trying to get a phone that you already paid for onto Verizon or some other carriers network. Other than that there's not much use of this.
I'm using a verizon version on Cricket/AT&T. When I inserted my sim card I had to manually enter my APN info and all i had to do was scroll through settings till i found the mobile networks. Then once inside that menu I hit APN. It automatically let me enter my info without having to go through all of what you were explaining...
I am currently deployed and brought my Verizon Note 5. I purchased a prepaid data SIM and had to edit the APN settings for it to work. I didn't have to go through all these crazy steps either, I don't know what this person is talking about.
Sent from my SM-N920V using XDA-Developers Legacy app
I have a Verizon note 5 and I want to change to a free APN in my area. This didn't work for me but I'm going to try some variations . My APN is locked out like yours. Thanx
I finally got my APN to change
I tried this method and they must have patched it on the Dec 2017 software version because it did not open the APN Test at step 6..
What I did was put in am ATT sim card, went in to APN settings, Added an APN with the "TRACFONE.VZWENTP" APN settings and saved it. (the saved APN disappeared from the list after saving) Pulled out the ATT sim card, Reinserted my PagePlus sim card and restarted. It worked, I Now Have DATA!
The APN settings are still greyed out now and I can not change them but phone is using the APN i set while I had the other sim card in the phone so its working great for me!
I was excited, but unfortunately this did not work for me. I'm on Straight Talk and I updated to Nougat with Smart Switch, but now my data doesn't work. Would be super nice if I could change my APN setting and get it to work again. Verizon claims they don't lock their 4G LTE devices, but this definitely seems like a way of locking it.
Hey I just loaded a FreedomPop SIM card with no real problem. I swapped out the Sim card and then did a factory reset. It still tried to connect to Verizon but FP ran a setup program that allowed me to add a new APN. I them loaded Samsung package disabler 11.5 and killed the setup wizzard from Verizon. No more error messages.

A blue drop appears on my screen

Can anyone help me with a problem?A blue drop appears on my screen.Does anyone know what comes from and how can it be disabled?I attach a screenshot with this problem.Thank you!

Looks like something to do with the weather, you have a storm/rain forecast on the other widget
Check different weather apps / widgets

Yes, it's removable. It's a blue GPS raindrop/teardrop trying to locate your current location for an app (lication).
Do the following:
1. Go to home screen and TAP bottom right (APPS), and proceed to SETTINGS.
2. TAP SETTINGS.
3. OPEN CONNECTIONS and TAP BLUETOOTH [2nd option] OFF (Just momentarily)
4. TAP LOCATION [9th option] OFF (Just momentarily) while still in Connections via SETTINGS.
5. In Settings go into NOTIFICATIONS to TURN OFF ALL APPS Getting Notifications (Just temporarily)
6. Last go into Settings, DEVICE MANAGEMENT and FIX ALL that is needed or where you see a number. Once your device is at 90% or higher, BEST @ 100%, THE GPS RAINDROP/TEARDROP IS GONE.
Problem Solved.
Now you can proceed to turn on whatever you want on, such as:
Bluetooth On,
Location On, and

I searched for but I can not find any setting to disable that drop.Is it possible to be from something else?
I'll try what you said.Thank you.

Click to expand...
Click to collapse
Best to just Google search for possible fixes, that's all I did
Seems like no-one knows exactly what causes it

I searched google for a few days in a row, but I did not find anything about it
Maybe it's more related with a bug in the system UI, because to me it doesn't look like a blue drop, but more like those "handles" to select text, don't you think?
If you remove your Clock/Weather widget, does the drop still appear? It could be a bug with your widget.
Also, if you try to click that "blue drop", what happens?
It seems like you've used an alternative launcher, an alternative clock/weather widget, alternative icons etc... So to investigate this, I would start looking in the apps I installed that have something to do with the customization of the home screen.
I hope this helps ; )
Blue tear drop
I got this in the middle of the home screen. Tapping it moved it to the top left. I rebooted into safe mode then from settings-apps-advanced-apps that can appear on top, disabled ones I thought had no need to do this. Skyp and samsung pay are two I don't use and disabled this permission (amongst others). Upon rebooting, the drop is gone. I should maybe pin this down to find the exact app but can't be bothered. Also this is disabling the drop but possibly not whatever it was representing.
Hope this helps.
It is a bug from messenger. Idk why, but if you're using the chat heads, you're typing something, and then minimize the chat, this blue drop can appear. I guess it's a bug from s7 Nougat, because since I updated to Oreo this bug has never happened to me again. But if you're on Nougat yet, you can do these steps to remove the drop:
1: In the recent apps tab, messenger must be there. If it is not, then open messenger, and go to home screen again.
2: Grab the messenger chat heads, and slide it into the bottom of the screen to remove it.
3: Now go to the recent apps tab, and remove messenger.
This should close messenger, and the blue drop should be gone.
I guess you can also go into settings, apps, messenger, and force stop, then the blue drop will be gone as well(but doing the steps above is easier), and then you just open messenger again, and whenever this drop appears, you just close messenger again.
Forse stop Facebook messenger and open it again
Its a bug ?
