Do a hard-reset after you flash your phone.

i do it every time
and still the program will not work
edit: anybody knows how to format the device and then install rom?

Did you install the program to the Storage Card? If yes, wipe the Card and install again.
Using the wizard i sometimes needed to flash an old ship-ROM.
Try to flash the original ROM (downloadlinks at the first page) and then flashing your desired ROM again.
Maybe this helps.

now i flashed original rom, original spl
and then i flashed spl, then xda live 1.2 rom and now program seems to be working, i must test it to be sure

AND...... it is still not working
now i am going mad
i do not get it
it was working fine and i flashed new rom and then it stopped working
wtf?
i flashed back
and still not working
if anybody gots an idea it is welcome
i will try anything

[Q] CM7 / ICS Flashing issues

I soft bricked my phone playing with ICS, I got a JIG and solved the problem
I can now ODIN back to any version and once rooted I can install any samsung based rom, the problem comes when I try to flash aosp both CM7 and any ICS beta
What happens is I select the zip, it runs a script and the phone reboots, I see the AT&T logo and then it mounts the sd card, it says it can't find the zip file.
I've tried Froyo, Eclair, even gingerbread (I know your not supposed to flash cm7 from gingerbread, I'm just running outta ideas) I have froyo bootloaders, I reinstalled them with heimdal. I've also done a master clear and erased the internal sd card
Does anyone have an idea of why this is happening?
Are you trying to install the zip from ClockworkMod?
Most likely, the rom is incompatible with the flash method you are choosing which bricks your phone. I had this happen to me twice from either flashing a rom the wrong way or just trying to flash the wrong rom all together and killing my system, but I ended up telling AT&T Techs that it happened when I tried upgrading to 2.2 to avoid warranty issues and they replaced my whole device with a refurbished unit =]
However keep in mind that they cannot jig your device and you will have to do that yourself to get your data off your device before you try getting a new one via this method.
Possible Solution:
1. If you can, flash cm7 to your device
2. Flash This ICS rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1363760
If you have already tried this then I apologize, but I hope this helps.
Another problem
Ok, everything I see says I should flash from a captivatemtd recovery, but when I install Rom manager and select captivatemtd, it says their are no offical recoveries for it, I'm currently running cognition froyo 2.2 with froyo bootloaders
Does anyone know where I can manually get the captivatemtd CWM? and how do I install it?

I'll go over my method of installing(I've had ZERO issues flashing from/to any ROM)
1. I FTS/MC using Odin 1 Click. My phone build is 1008
2. Root with 1 click root(I have to do steps 2 and 3 because I do not have 3 button recovery)
3. Sideload and install ROM Manager(Rom manager, and CWM update.zip are in the Sideload zip that's attached)
4. Copy CWM Update.zip and ROM to device. Reboot and install CWM
5. Reboot into recovery and install ROM
Odin 1 Click(If you can use it)
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/12100225/Odin I897UCJF6-final-OCD-REV0.zip
Root 1 Click
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/12100225/Root.zip
Sideload Wonder Machine and ROM Manager
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/12100225/Sideloading.zip
Edit** What is the build number of your phone?
Here's what you need
Just download this rom
http://download.cyanogenmod.com/get/cm_captivatemtd_full-181.zip
And then watch this video!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iBPu-GqM9RE
Flash CM7 using odin
then flash ICS using clockwork mod using the instructions I gave you before.
That's the easiest way I found to do it and that's how I went from stock rom to CM7 rom and then finally to ICS

Tried this to the letter still doesn't work, could it be because of rom manager not finding a recovery for captivatemtd, some pages say I need that recovery but it isn't available in rom manager.
Finnally
Finnally got CM7 installed the problem was I had to do the three button boot into recovery twice, the first time updates clockworkmod to version 5.x
Now to try ICS again, wish me luck
Thanks
Thanks for all the suggestions, the tip in the video about flashing the speedmod kernel did help I think, I've successfully flashed
teamhacksung's ICS Port for Captivate (BUILD 9) again.
A couple notes here:
1 when your flashing cm7 from cwm( NOT 3e RECOVERY THOUGH) you need to flash the. Zip file, then reboot system, IT WILL PROBABLY BOOT LOOP, three button back to recovery and flash again, then while in recovery still flash gapps. Reboot and it will install fine. You should ONLY need to do the two time flash the first time going to cm7.
2. When you go to rom manager and choose manual flash overide from hitting the menu button you will get the unsupported recovery, DON'T WORRY about it and hit ok. Then another popup will come up and choose 3.x and it will work.

[Q] I have deleted custom and stock ROM stuck in recovery and stuck at boot screen

So.. The other day I rooted my htc sensation perfectly, and gained super user access, S-off and all that stuff to root.
So I flashed a MIUI rom onto the phone which worked perfectly.
Today I tried to flash the Virtuos Quattro ROM onto my phone and it didn't work. So I cleared the cache, user data, and all that, but every time I tried to flash the rom it came up with an error.
(At this point when I turned the phone on , it when in a boot loop..l unless I went into recovery mode.) so I tried to restore the MiUI ROM and it wouldn't work anymore..
So I formatted the system and still no luck. Formatted the SD card and no luck.
However, after doing all of that, I lost the MIUi ROM, have no way of getting to a home screen, and I don't know how to get back either to my stock rom or to the MIUI rom.
It still says I'm S-off.. But I have no clue how to get back to either my stock rom ( because I have no idea where to find it) which is what I want to do again
Have I deleted the stock rom?
Is there a way to get back to the stock rom in this case? Or what should I do?!?
In desperate need of help guys!!
Cheers
Nothing to worry.
Virtuous rom, you need to flash latest firmware in order for this rom to work. Read rom guide carefully, there is a guide how to flash virtuous rom in development section if I remember correctly.

Just download a Rom on you computer and while in recovery enable usb storage and copy the Rom to your ad card and flash again. Unless you want virtuous you have to flash a newer firmware like the guy above me said

would you be able to link me to the instructions on how to do that ?
you can take your sd card out and plug it in your computer and put the PG58IMG.zip in the root of the sd card and virtuous quattro in any folder
after that get the sd card in the device go to bootloader flash the new firmware (keep in mind tho that to flash the new firmware you have to be superCID) then go to recovery wipe and flash virtuous quattro and youre all set
heres the thread were you can find the new firmware:

re download the rom.. sounds like a bad download... if you wanna run ics... download new firmware name it whatever it's supposed to be name... put it on the base of the sdcard... sdcard/ ok now have your downloaded rom and the firmware on the sdcard. not a folder just in the base directory... ok in recovery wipe everything first... data cache system boot... everything except sdcard... then flash/install the rom.... then reboot to bootloader in the power options in ext4 recovery , the bootloader will read the firmware file... should be named pd58img or something like that (dont quote the file name i could be wrong) anyways the bootloader will pick it up and ask you if you wanna update, hit volume up for yes... after it's done hit the power button again to reboot and all should be welll with ics... oh and then hit the thanks button for me..... you really just need to open to browser windows... one where you download the firmware read how they say to install one for the rom read how they say install and then look at my post... with all the info here i think u can figure it out... sorry if i aint making sense i just wored 14 hours... gotta sleep now... good luck

Tried that and it didn't work.
Then downloaded someones CWM backup and restored from that to stock 2.3.6 and then upgraded to 4.0.4 now it works fine.
Every rom stock, cwm or any other didn't want to flash, only like I described worked.

[Q] Camera ONLY works in the stock ROM?

My phone's camera refuses to work in custom ROMs. It works in the stock ROM without any problems whatsoever.
It's not ROM specific, I've tried a bunch of ROMs.
The camera app will FC on open, or display an error message (unable to connect to camera) or give me a black screen. It depends on the ROM.
Last ROM I tried was CM9, which gives me an "unable to connect" error (with and without patch #2). But it's not just CM, camera didnt work in any of the virtuous ROMs either.
When I flash back to the stock ROM, the camera just works.
Please don't assume user error. It isn't. I manually full-wipe every time I switch ROMs. I try the camera first thing, after a "clean" install, before installing any apps.
I'm now seriously considering RMAing this phone in hopes of getting a replacement unit that behaves without camera problems - but that probably means I'll get the new HBOOT and be stuck with S-ON.
So... if you have any ideas or suggestions, I'd love to hear them. I really don't understand why I seem to be the only person having this problem, but it's very frustrating. ANY help much appreciated.

Are you sure you are not on the new hboot? I have flashed 6+ roms and my camera is always fine. My boyfriend has the new hboot, and when he flashed roms, his camera didn't work, because he forgot the step to flash the kernel through fastboot. I had to fix it for him. Once I flashed the kernel through fastboot, and then flashed the rom through cwm everything works great, even the camera.

Well my phone says S-OFF, HBOOT 1.44.1107 so I think I'm good. Since I'm checking out the CM9 alpha2 anyway, I tried it the S-ON way, just for kicks:
adb reboot-bootloader
fastboot flash boot boot.img
<wait for it to flash, boot in to CWM>
clear cache, clear dalvik
factory reset
format /data, format /system
flash from zip: cm9alpha2
flash from zip: gapps ics 0429 version
reboot
setup gmail account
click on camera icon...
.... "unable to connect to camera"

Hmm, that is odd. Maybe it is a hardware issue, but then why would it work on stock? I hope someone else has some Ideas. I would probably just end up replacing the phone if the camera doesn't work, because that was one of the main reasons I picked this phone, was the awesome camera.

And when you flash back to stock, it works again? Sort of glad to see I'm not the only one.
You guys are flashing the kernel through fastboot and adb right? When my boyfriend was flashing roms on his phone with the new hboot, his camera didn't work until I flashed the kernel to his rom through fastboot.
I've flashed quite few htc phones in the past. When I cooked and flashed rom with wrong camera software version the camera didn't work, even when I tried to manually install .cab file with correct camera app version later. It had to be cooked-in. For example Kaiser ROMs, there were camera cabs version 4.x and newer 5.x from Windows Mobile 6.0 and WM6.1 - apparently they had different camera drivers included, and different ROMs required different version of camera software (drivers). Granted, it was all Windows Mobile environment, but I think similar general rules apply to Android OS too since AFAIK some software from Ginger won't work on ICS too, which is the same as it was with WM5.0 vs WM6.1 vs WM6.5 upgrades...
So perhaps different/correct "Camera.apk" is needed for this ROM?

That is your problem right there. When you are S on, you have to flash the Kernel separately through fastboot. That is why your camera is not working, and other things are probably wonky too. You can't just flash the rom through clockwork, with out also flashing the kernel through fastboot. Follow the directions in this thread. That is how I fixed this same issue that my bf was having. These instructions will work with any rom, not just the ICS ones. I have bulletproof working flawlessly on my bf's S-on phone, with the new hboot.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1508556
Edit : I just reread what you posted, and saw that you are flashing the boot img. , then flashing the rom. Are you using the instructions in the above thread to do this? Those were the instructions I used and it worked perfectly. Tell me exactly what you are doing. Explain how you are flashing the boot img. Are you using fastboot, and the command prompt on your computer?,or are you flashing through clockwork? I was having an issue flashing the boot img. at first, because I was unknowingly leaving out a space. Maybe that is your issue?
Fixed!
Updating this, as I am happy to say I have CM9 alpha4 running AND have a working camera!
Alpha4 Changelog (from Alpha3)
- Alternative samsung 8mp camera driver added
So, apparently this is the magic required, since alpha 3 did NOT have a working camera, on my phone. This new alpha 4 with the alternative driver, does.
YAY!

[Q] How to make a RUU from a Nandroid Backup ?

Hey Guys
So I unlocked my phone's bootloader last week, and installed The AxiomS ROM.
I was pretty excited given all the epic features. Anyway my excitement soon turned
to regret. My files are getting corrupt (Images, Videos, APK's, everything...) and
my battery life has been very lower than I had on my stock ROM. I thought I might
run into trouble with the Custom ROM so I made a Nandroid backup of my Stock
ROM. The problem is, apparently a stock ROM won't run unless the bootloader is
relocked. So I restored the backup through recovery, relocked the bootloader, but I
got stuck in a bootloop. Only way I can get a ROM on there after I relocked the boot
loader is to run a RUU from the PC (Correct me if I'm wrong :cyclops: ) I don't want
to download an external stock ROM, so my question is - Is it possible to build a RUU
from my Nandroid backup ?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanx guys ! P.S I'm still running AxiomS at the moment...
Will be trying out Team Venom's ViperOneS ROM soon.
Christian
It probably didn't restore the boot.img but you sure can run a stock rom with unlocked bootloader. Try to extract boot.img from backup, unlock bootloader again and flash boot.img through adb or just run the RUU of your stock rom.
T-MobileUS HTC One S running Stock Rooted 2.21.
Just backup and flash Venom following the directions in the thread precisely. BTW, my SD card was getting corrupted a lot too...stopped when I stopped mounting it as USB storage and using bluetooth and wifi to transfer files. Something with this phone doesn't unmount cleanly for some people.

I actually did do exactly that, as I know the boot image isn't installed with the ROM. Learned to do it when I installed Axiom...
Anyway, I still got stuck in a boot loop... But I'll Try it again. Any way to build a RUU ?

I know its an old thread BUT
The OP didn't get an answer to his question and i would like to hear members thought on the subject anyway
Is it possible to make a RUU from any given ROM
Im just surprised that its not been developed on here before now
On my travels i found this
http://www.htcsensationforum.com/htc-sensation-rooting/how-to-extract-rom-zip-from-ruu/
Now if it possible to extract the rom from the ruu why not the reverse ?
You can turn Mustang into Pinto, but you can not turn Pinto into Mustang. Any downloaded rom have 3 files in it - Meta, System and boot.img. RUU have firmware( in addition ) and is in exe format. Just can not be done from back up rom. The easy way would be to download the RUU.
I know that it is "pain in the butt", but that way, you will get your phone back to "normal".

Dead right its a pain especially when HTC release the RUUs when and if they choose to...just how many members do you searching around for RUUs that have not been released...and were talking phones that are 8 months or in some instances older
