[Q] Flashed gsm with CDMA - Nexus S Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
i have GSM version and I flashed my nexus s with wrong version of rom (CDMA).
I tried diferent roms and every time i get error 7 while putting it on phone.
Finally put stock recovery on phone but now touch doesn't work, and still doesnt recognize the sim cad or network.
PLS help how to flash it from windows or any rom that will get this right
Thanks

Same thing happened to me and I just flashed the correct rom and all was good. Have you tried a restore via TWRP or CWM?

Tried that and it didn't work.
Then downloaded someones CWM backup and restored from that to stock 2.3.6 and then upgraded to 4.0.4 now it works fine.
Every rom stock, cwm or any other didn't want to flash, only like I described worked.

Do a hard-reset after you flash your phone.
i do it every time
and still the program will not work
edit: anybody knows how to format the device and then install rom?
Did you install the program to the Storage Card? If yes, wipe the Card and install again.
Using the wizard i sometimes needed to flash an old ship-ROM.
Try to flash the original ROM (downloadlinks at the first page) and then flashing your desired ROM again.
Maybe this helps.
now i flashed original rom, original spl
and then i flashed spl, then xda live 1.2 rom and now program seems to be working, i must test it to be sure
AND...... it is still not working
now i am going mad
i do not get it
it was working fine and i flashed new rom and then it stopped working
wtf?
i flashed back
and still not working
if anybody gots an idea it is welcome
i will try anything

Need some help with nexus s

I manually updated my dad's phone to ics with the ota file. He has the tmobile version and it's not rooted or anything. So i booted into recovery and installed the ota file. It installed just fine but now he has no service at all. We placed the sim card in another phone and it works just fine so its the phone itself. When we go into the network operators menu it gives us this "error while searching for network"

Update:I reverted back to gingerbread and i still couldn't get any service.
Does this mean i have to flash a new radio or kernal?

Try the stock OTA. It usually comes with an associated radio.img for your phone model.

actually i had same problem yesterday.followed the stock rom advice and it worked properly.
as long as i have rom manager.4.8.3 i did a rom backup before installing ics update.
i lost the service in ics and then tried to restore the rom 2.3.6, same "error while searching for network".
all i did now is flashing again cwm 5.0.2. i downloaded nexus s stock rom 2.3.3 from rom manager too.
i flashed the rom and everything went back to normal.
thanks for the advice.

[Q] My ace plus won't boot after flashing Kitkat roms and even cwm v6

I have 3 android phones, and the oldest one is getting me crazy..
First flashed a JB rom, after a bunch of troubles, finally got it done.
But then this phone had a little problem, i flashed back to stock and send it for repair.
The phone now is returned and reset to GB. And found that there are many Kitkat roms to flash which is really tempting me to do it.
First, i tried to flash Speed rom, with cwm 6.0.3.5. I got Status 7. Flashed back cwm 5.5 and successful in flashing the rom, but it won't boot and stuck in a white screen.
I googled a lot, searched in XDA, found that someone suggested flashed Kitkat with the latest CWM version or TWRP.
But, none of these works on my phone. This is the first time I got stuck in flashing recovery. Both give me a white screen.
Does the CWM version really matter? or it's just my phone's problem which could not work with android 4.4?
Any help would be appreciated..

[Q] help upgrading from 4.1 to 4.3/4

ok guys, stupid question time. i have been out of the hacking game for a while and havent been keeping up with the S3 since i was running a pretty stable version of cyanogenmod. i picked up a S5 last month and the S3 has just been sitting but the wifes phone is on its last leg so i figured i would update the S3 and give it to her since it would be an upgrade to what she has now. i was running CM 4.1.2 and tried to flash the 4.3 AllianceRom. did my usual, updated CWM, downloaded the rom, checked the MD5, flashed the new modem and rom using CWM and everything looked good. then it happened. stuck at the "galaxy SIII" logo screen. nothing got me out of it. wiped everything, tried a reinstall, downloaded the rom again and did an install, nothing. tried another rom and the install failed, tried another rom and again, install failed. so i had a copy of cleanrom 5.6 which is a 4.1.1 rom and damn if that didnt hand as well. so i did a battery pull and luckly it had installed and the phone actually booted up and into android. the only downside is for some reason i cant connect to wifi with the rom. so, i still want to try either 4.3 or 4.4 on this phone so the question is, WTF am i doing wrong that it wont boot? shouldnt i be able to go from 4.1.1 to 4.3 or 4.4 by just using CWM? help a brother out.
Make sure u cwm is the most recent

You need to use the latest PhilZ Touch Recovery (https://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/d2lte/) (just flash it in your current recovery). It is the best, and it works great. I would first go to "Wipe Data/Factory Reset" and choose to "Clean to Install a New ROM." Then I would go into "Advanced" and wipe dalvik cache. Then I would go into "Mounts and Storage" and format boot and modem. Then I would flash the newest modem (http://www.mediafire.com/download/v0als76t6nmtpbo/DNE1.modem.zip). Then finally install your ROM and then GApps.
yes, CWM was updated just before flashing. i installed the recommended modem for the rom i was installing. not sure why it was stuck at the logo on 4.3 when i flashed a 4.1.1 rom and it booted right up just fine.
resolved. thanks guys.

Curious to know what you had to do to get it working?
I have two (2) S3's that I need to update and they're both running 4.1.1 ROMs.
Any info would be much appreciated.

I did all of the above and I can't get anything to work....
I updated to Philz, updated the modem and went to install a new ROM and it's error'ing out every time?
This phone was rooted from way back and it appears that I may have lost root... It's stuck at the Samsung Galaxy S III boot screen and I'm trying to get it to boot in to recovery at this time.
Edit: Was able to get in to recovery and restoring a backup now. Somethings not right when trying to go to a newer ROM.

I thought I updated to the latest Phliz and I do believe that's the error I was getting when I tried to load the ROM.
I'll check again Monday.
I appreciate the info.
The issue was with Philz.
I upgraded to the latest TWRP and loaded the new ROM fine.

Bricked my phone?

Hey everyone,
I recently decided to root my stock 5.0 s5 on sprint. I got everything rooted fine using TWRP and decided to flash a custom rom. I made a backup and everything however during the process the flash deleted my internal storage and pretty much everything. I think the root is gone but TWRP still boots up fine and dandy. Can anyone point me in a direction? I tried plugging my phone up through my computer but ODIN won't even recognize it. Any advice would be great. Cheers
Edit: got it working
Glad you got it working. Did installing the stock OA6 file get it?

Hey sorry for the late reply. I changed bootloaders to stock and reflashed a stock rom from the s5 root website. I was confused because I thought going into TWRP was going into download mode, which is wasn't. My download mode was working fine and I just reran everything through odin. Had to move my SD card to my tablet to get a rom on it though, and installed from that.
