Audible Player Skin - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Windows Mobile ROM De

For those who like audio books like me, I've made a skin for the Audible Player. It's a similar theme of the WM Dialer skin with Dutty's 7b Non-touch ROM. If you've seen the default skin for this player... you understand why I made this.
It is a subscription service and I recommend it. I just don't have time to read as much as I'd like to I listen to these audio books on my commute to work. It's not very easy reading books on a 240x320 screen.
If you want to know more:

Here are some screens of the skin:

Installation
1. Run APWMInstall.exe from your PC while synch to your device (if you don't have Audible Installed)
- Installs AudibleAir to download your books files to your PDA
- Installs AudiblePlayer
2. Download your audiobooks to your device or storage card for playback (need Audible account)
3. Place Audibleplayer_Kaisergreyskin.cab on your device and double click. Cab will begin install. Select to install to the same place you installed the AudiblePlayer (I recommend installing the programs to your Device since the memory requirement is low for the programs. You can have your books files defaulted to your storage card separately).
4. Open Audible Player
- Select Menu >> AudiblePlayer Skins...
- Kaiser_Grey should be now installed and selectable.

I was absolutely thrilled to see this skin. I had made a couple of skins for previous versions, but never got around to this one.
I'm getting ready to install in now.
I'm curious, I've been having problems with downloading full books to my ATT Tilt (after having easily and successfully downloaded hundreds to my 6700).
I've recently flashed to one of Dutty's ROMs and am hopeful it will fix it. Have you experienced any problems?
Also, I have an old utility called btaudio that opens the audio channel so you can listen via bluetooth, would be happy to post it if appropriate. I usually map it to a hard key.

I can tell you that this application posted on this thread works perfectly on Duttys 7b hydrid ROM. There is also another way to do this.. by using Audible Manager and linking it with the free Micro$oft Reader... although I haven't tried this. Now that I made this skin.. it looks really nice and maTches the WM6 dialer on the 7b ROM, so I'll probably stick with it.
If you wouldn't mind, could you post the bt utility here. I could search for it, but it would make it convenient for anyone else who wanted to try this out. Thanx.

I've installed your version and it seems to be working better (at least it appears to be downloading a book correctly while connected to ActiveSync).
Are you able to download full books via the wireless data connection/AudibleAir? I experimented with it a bunch and found that it wouldn't work unless I selected 60 minutes or less.
I figured it may have been something to do with the ATT network (I was formerly Verizon) or a problem dealing with my 8GB SD card.
Just copy it to the device and it can be run directly from there. If you name it something different, you can even use a voice command to launch it.
By the way, I've had contact with somebody on the development team and they indicate that there 'is some new stuff in the pipe (finally)' and that they hope to have something to give us in early 2008.
Happy Listening!
Here is the btaudio file.

Oh wow... I didn't notice that. My wifi won't download through audible air, even though the internet is working fine with my Opera Browser. hmmmm? I tried several download settings.
I turned off wifi and was able to download a 2MB book over 3G(HSDPA) in about 10 seconds... very fast. I used quality of 2, 60 minutes, storage card... no problem.
Don't know why?
If you hear anymore about audible development pls post... there's probably not huge interest on this board for that but I'll be watching.
Thanks for the btaudio btw

@smuook,
I installed Dutty's v3 last night and it includes a BTAudioToggle App that I was able to map to the PTT button. A little better than btaudio in that it turns it on or off.
I recall years ago participating in a thread where that one was cooked, but forgot all about itl

@smuook, check your PM.

For those having failures downloading full books via AudibleAir, I've found that turning off Direct Push email and/or Active Sync helps a BUNCH.

Geostamping photos, is it possible on device?

I use a Mio a701 for Geocaching with GPS Dash v2.58 software and it seems to do everything I need it to apart from one thing. I would like to be able to take photos and have the lat/long read from the GPS & stamped onto the photo. Is anyone aware of any 3rd partysoftware that can do this?
I have looked at things like "RoboGeo" which compare the recorded track with EXIF data on a PC, but really would like the ease of doing it direct on the device.
I know this is slightly off topic for your forum, but I have asked in the usual Mio support forums. I would have thought such software (if it exists) could also be used on an XDA with a BT receiver also, so here I am
TIA

murf62 - welcome to the board.
I'm a fellow Mio A701 man, as of last week. Can I ask what forums you're using? I haven't seen many good dedicated ones, at least nothing as good as here. I've started one on my website just for the hell of it.
I've written a couple of apps to improve the system, I'm not particularly happy with it out of the box.
But I digress. This could be possible, but what app are you using take the photos, normal camera app?
V
Yeah, I'm using the normal camera app, but can't see any reason why a 3rd party app couldn't exist that grabs a pic from the camera and then stamps the lat/long onto it.
I have hunted high & low for such a thing and I'm pretty sure it doesn't currently exist.
I've had the Mio since release on 10 Mar and it's been great, these are the forums I currently use, I'm assuming it's ok to post them here as you asked & are a moderator

The bottom 2 are dying off now as most people have moved to the fourpages one.
I would be interested in apps you have written, what sort of things are you talking about?
murf62: hey, four pages is great, I just Johnny Five'd the whole board into my limited Mental Storage Drive:

I'm awaiting my authorisation email Can't post yet.
Basically, I hate that there's no dedicated Power button. The red button is useless, it always switches itself on in my pocket, and takes me 30 seconds to switch off using the ShutDownApp.exe or whatever it's called.
I reverse engineered it and squirted the functionality into my VJEschaton (unreleased version), and used a regedit to bring the Camera app into Settings, and now assign power off to the camera button.
Next step is to rewrite or patch the keyboard driver to allow power on from the camera key, although I'm thinking of a better solution, writing my own screen lock to sidestep the problems (backlight coming on) with the current Rom version.
Next, I used VJOkButt to replace the functionality of the Red button, and used AE ButtonPlus to replace Vol Up/Down keys.
I spent an age configuring my Today screen, creating a new today theme to match my old WM2003 one, updating the Wiki on here very slightly with my findings. I then configured claunch to use as my Today screen dialer.
I've also written a small GPS test app.
I spent yesterday trying to install my father's TomTom 3, which failed, so gave TT5 a go. Works ok.
I'm going to try to write a release version of the GPS app, eventually, because currently I think you have to Kickstart the GPS with another app, and VisualGPS seems too CPU intensive for the job.
More to come. I've only had it out of the box for around 48 hours
Hopefully I'll look into the GPS stamping issue, if I can figure out and find a nice image manipulation library. But I have some other priorities on this board first (VJToggleToday, to maximise Today screen space. Works well on the Mio though).

You don't need to kickstart it this way if you use HW_COM & 57600 baud in tomtom instead of COM 4.
But will that still use Ephemeris?
V
No it doesn't, but it still locks on pretty quickly. Typically, I get tomtom loaded & a good lock in around 60 seconds. (25 seconds or so of that is tomtom booting up, then another 10 or so while it finds the COM port).

All Web Videos on Windows Mobile Phones

Hello
We’re a few developers who have tried to develop this application Avot mV, running on most of Windows mobile 5.0 and newer phone with the idea of searching and playing any video from video sharing sites like YouTube, Google Videos, DailyMotion and other web locations.

You can download the latest version of application by pointing the mobile browser to http://avotmv.com
This looks pretty cool. I'll give it a try and let you know how it goes. Thanks!
Man this is really great work. I don't see why that app hasn't got any resonance yet if you think about all the tcmpc streaming approaches...
The only cons i find is that you can't chose the site you want to search (e.g. only veoh.com, or only youtube.com). A menu in which you can demand a specific site as source would be wonderful.
and then, the screen format is odd. if it ran fullscreen, most videos would fit, but this way they are either cropped or shown in the wrong size. specially in non-landscape mode.
but other than that, it works perfectly. video and audio stream very stable over wifi with my prophet annd without overclocking, which isn't the case with tcmpc and flashvideobundle.
keep up the good work, this is what people wanted for a long time, obviously
does this work over EDGE?
This is a pretty cool program. Please continue to develop it.
I have to agree with E_Shinobi though, it would be nice to have an option to only surf one type of site. Maybe add a menu for users to pick if they want to view Youtube videos or Google videos.
Is there a list of all supported sites? What other sites will we be able to view in the future? I know there are a lot of them these days.
Very nice program, but not all results show at this time. But I assume this is something you are working on. Also, if I accidently hit a key, like the start menu key, the program gets glitchy.

Theoretically, yes. However, depending on where you are, your EDGE signal might not be able to provide enough throughput to stream the video at full speed. In fact, I'm going to hazard a guess at "yes, but..." if you let the video buffer, you should be OK. I just tested the service on AT&T's EDGE in South Jersey (four bar signal), with a 15 second clip from Google Video, and it was OK, a long buffering time, a little stuttering towards the middle, but otherwise OK. I also tested it with a six minute clip from YouTube called the "Hubblecast" (Hubblecast 07, to be precise) and it stuttered a little, but that might have been the CPU being a little overloaded. After about 30 seconds, it seemed to hang. It might be just too much visual complexity, but it's also possible that EDGE just isn't fast enough to keep up. After a pause for 20 seconds or so, the video played OK, until it hung again. When I switched over to WiFi, I experienced similar results. So the problem might be the Dash just isn't fast enough to handle Atov at this early stage, or the servers are being slammed and destroying quality of service.
My biggest disappointment is the lack of a full screen option, or an option where the video is properly scaled, and not just smashed into the available space. Also, I'm using this on my Dash, and the thing seemed picky about how much RAM was available. I'm using the stock T-Mo firmware, and after running a few apps, it's hard to free up more than 5 MB or so, but that seems to be just enough.
This thread needs to be bumped.
Runs choppy on my Mogul, I think it's because of a directdraw issue with the mogul. Is there any way to change the output driver to GDI? How does it handle compression, I don't have flash installed, and it still streams. I would love to hear some more details on how the program actually works.
Dustin
running quite well on my wizard sometimes a little choppy, also couldnt work out how to get full screen but that was probably just me.
On my tornado, when the video is playing, I can't stop it, it just hanged while the video is playing.
Pressing home button, I can see the home screen blinking behind the video, but then late the video overlap it back
have been looking for somthing like this for some time so will defiantly be giving it a go thanks

Ok, so I installed your ROM in the morning, filled it with all my programs to see how it would behave.
Booting is ultra fast and everything still runs smooth even tho I installed something like 50Mb of programs on the phone's memory.
Tried a movie aswell, 1hour and a half of a DVDRiP running at 640*360, XViD(890Kpbs) and MP3 (130Kbps).
I had flashlite running on the background from my cube, and the movie only messed around once at the 4minute mark, and never again, saw it flawlessly. Used TCPMP v0.81.
Overall it feels very nice, fast and stable, great job here man, keep it up.
As a side note, you could probably consider removing Voice Speed Dial and Office, for it to be even smoother.
Cheers.
This could be flash time....!
Looks great, gonna try it soon. Will let you guys know how it works.
bug report: can not open music player from htc home, seems battery go fast.
HTC Audio Manager not included in this light ROM. You can use Home customiser to change the selection of Home plugin to windows media player, also you can install Audio Manager.
the phone is running whole day, and seems fine. rom is fast and stable. one thing bothering me is I try to hide sim contacts with registry edit, but it come back after soft reset, anyway to fix it?

Official Youtube App

Have you guys seen the official youtube app? Here's a link http://symbiancorner.blogspot.com/2008/01/java-j2me-mobile-youtube-player-now.html. It looks pretty cool, unfortunately, it it doesn't work on my Touch Cruise (with esmertec JBed) and its JAVA based...but hey so is Opera Mini, and its far faster than any native browser both in rendering and in navigating menus, etc.
I don't know if it'd be a simple matter to get it working, but if someone does or has. Please post!

EDIT: In response to below
I'm not sure how to move a thread? Just repost my original message in the hacking and development?
Yes, this applet was created with certain phones in mind, but since its a JAVA applet, it should theoretically be able to run on any platform. As of right now (at least in this thread) some have had more success than others.
Here is the direct link to download:
http://www.google.com/m/download/youtube/download?sign=1&make=Nokia&model=N95&ver=v1.0.1
put this in hacking and development... and lets say if someone can fix it
Addition: It launches on my Wizard + Jbed. But just the streaming video wont work.
it's funny how it will allow you to download onto your Wizard but won't let me DL on my 8525...
can you upload the .cab for Sh*tz & Gigglez??
I did find an interesting article over at the ATT forums about this very subject.
"I was very pleased to find this... I had suspected that the 0.81 player was just a myth, but no! 0.81 seems to have a bit more overhead but plays more file types. It is quite extraordinary how many! WIth just one or to exceptions, I can use it to play most files. 0.72 is lightweight, but doesn't play back quite so many file types. Still does the full flash thing perfectly though!
Installing to main memory seems a good idea for performance, particularly if you try the 0.81 version. If you can't spare the memory, it is OK to install to your memory card, but might be best to stay with the 0.72 version. Your CPU speed may be a factor too.
Tip: In the prefs check auto exit after command line playback (or something). Means when it auto-plays flash videos it will also auto close, dropping you back to the site on Internet Explorer. There are a lot of settings to fiddle with, so if you do not get good playback at first it is likely just a matter of twiddling until you do! No special advice.. it will vary by device.
There is a file called ATIfix (or something) which may apply just to some HTC Hermes derived phones. It was needed on my Hermes.
This link is much better because it has pretty much everything (codecs, add-ons, etc) and the two latest TCPMP player versions you might want, it includes all the correct Open Source licences intact plus references to the original creators and sites. i.e. all done the correct legit way."
I have to confirm I have this working with youtube.

info
Hi all
is it possible to add more info on the first thread??
I looked to the official site and found that the supported phones mentioned are:
Some Nokia phones like the 6110n, 6120c, E65, N73, and N95
Some Sony Ericsson phones like the k800i and w880i
...so is it for WM6 device too??
and is it for the mobile youtube web or for the normal desktop one??
Thx
MMAPI is Required
This java midlet requires a java vm with jsr135 mobile media api with video stream support. It so happens non of the wm devices have a jvm with this configuration. Jbed wont stream from you tube but i think the jvm coming with the sonyericsson x1 might support this sonyericsson support most of the java api's even more api's than nokias.
did notice you could also download the apps directly on that page.....dis-regard my post
i finally found a zip file containing the .jar file for this app but after install wen i try to run the app i get an error "sorry youtube only works on phones with larger screens" im using the mogul i didnt think my screen was that small. so do u think there could be a workaround for this. if anyone else is having truble getting download pm me for the zip

Problem with AutoKeyLock & Vito copy/paste...

Hi there,
I just discovered the AutoKeyLock program and immediately hit the problem with "Cannot hook the keyboard".
So I renamed my VitoCopyPaste.exe to .eze and rebooted.
This allowed AutoKeyLock to work.
Just out of interest, I renamed VitoCopyPaste back to .exe and it ran fine. So that suggests to me that both applications can co-exist as long as AutoKeyLock is started first.
So, 65000$ question, is there any way to control the startup order?
BTW I'm running Dr. Gonzo's WM 6.1 ROM on my Vox if that makes a difference?
TIA,
Richard
You can't use both apps on your vox, you must choose one or the other.
Sorry.
That's not true! I have them both working when I automatically start AutoScreenLock and manually start copy/paste.
I can see them both in task manager, Honestly!
If I knew how to take a screen shot, I'd post it.
R.
No, if autokeylock is launched first (screensaver active), vito copypaste don't work, if vito copypaste is launched first, autokeylock don't work.
It's a fact, only one soft can hook the keyboard.
Bye.
I am using "SmartToolkit 1.0.0.RC08" for: autokeylock, copy/paste and key mapping, ( "celle task" is mapped on center d-pad button).
OK Here's a screenshot from my phone showing both apps running:

Believe you, yes that you can run both binaries at the same time.
The $65,001 question (which is what Fireburned is trying to say), is if both applications actually function when running together?
Running the two apps is ofcourse possible, but the beauty is they wont work simultaneousely . Its very simple, how can two apps lock the same hardware device? Think about it. You are using a dialup modem and are already connected to some network through it, now you start and another dialer and again want to use the same modem to dialup some other network, is it possible ?
Yes, they both work.
Shaunak.it, I don't know too much about Windows Mobile but in other OS's you have the concept of chaining where several programs can register an interest in a particular interrupt or device.
Thinking about it, WM must support something similar, otherwise how does the screenshot program see the * key pressed whilst both AutoKeyLock & Vito Copy & Paste are running?
Returning to my original question, is there any way to control the order that programs are started at boot time?
R.
dicko99 : I don't believe you, sorry
Phrak and shaunak.it : Thanks you, it's what i want to say, both applications can run simultany, but only the first launched app works.
Bye.

Enjoy!
try to make an sms text message and use vitocopypaste to select some words and cut/paste it somewhere else.
you will notice it doesn't work, because a carriage return is automatically inserted when keylock releases the hook to vitocopypaste.
B****r! I only tested copy/paste on a single line field...
Bye bye AutoKeyLock then!

That's an old problem (not limited to the VOX) - long solved as well. Install Mobiion HookManager (free for personal use):

Woo! It really works.
