Change Storage memory from 14 meg to 30 meg - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 Windows Mobile 2005 Upgrading

Hey all!
If you want to change Storage memory from 14 meg to 30 meg, you need to install HIMA DOC TOOLS.
If you get errors while installing, and storage memory remains 14 megs, try switch back to WM2003 , and then install it, as described in the fallowing thread:

Good luck!

Hi ns700i,
Sounds as if you flashed to the wrong version of 2.01a for your needs. Try reflashing to 2.01a 64 which has 64 MB Prog memory and 64MB RamDisk (i.e. you old set up). You'll then also have 14MB of "Device" which you can increase to 30MB y using the DOC Tools to unlock (reallocate the old etdended memory which you ordinarily can't see). All this is posted over in buzzdev.net:-

Hope that helps.

Haii .. Mallow1
well thank you very much for your reply but i have no problems with my exsiting rom , and if i followed you i will get the same Storage mem 30 MB which i do have now ..
i just need to increase my Storage mem size .. i feel that this is the right Storage mem size i can get 4 my i-mate due to my i-mate hardware configuration.
thanks alot.
Hi ns700i,
You are welcome. Under WM5 30 MB is the max for "Storage" memory so for those wanting needing more "Storage" we have to use a RAMdisk as well to provide the additional storage allocation of memory. Hence my posting above would allow you to use 94 MB total storage for installed programs and user files leaving you 64 MB of mermory to run active programs with. So effectivly you do get more storage (it just gets labelled slightly differently and is split between 30 MB "Storgae" and 64 MB "Ramdisk" or "FlashDisk"). Hope this helps to clarify things. In all othere respects the ROM I suggested you flash to is exactly the same as the one you are currently running (just the memory allocation is different and will result in something very close to your old WM2003 split od storage/program memory).

Downloading big files

Hello Guys.
Maybe someone of you can give me a helpful hint.
I´m running a Magician device, but i think it´s not important which device is used. With the device I´m using a sandisk Wifi card with 256 MB Storage integrated.
The last days i tried to download a file with approx. 30 MB. SD-Card with Wifi was complete clean, but the Memory of the device just have about 24 MB free. For downloading I used the integrated IE in the WM2003SE. The download should be saved on the storage card, but the download failed because of not having enough free space. So I think the device first downloads the file as temporay file on the System memory and then copies it ro the SD card.
So, how can I change this to be able to download files directly to the SD card?

Confused... not enough space to install apps with Tofclock's AKU3.2 3.35a

Ok I'm totally confused so I hope someone can help me!....
Yesterday I finally decided to upgrade to WM2005. I tested a couple of different
ROMs and finally settled on Tofclock's AKU3.2 3.35a which was configured with :
64 MB RAM - 32 MB Page pool - 32 MB Ramdisk
My memory configuration appears as :
Storage Total: 14.54MB
Program Total: 61.23MB
Everything was working fine until I try to install a large app like Tomtom which
insists on installing some bits on the device and my 14.5MB of storage disappears and the installer hangs due to running out of space.
What I'm confused about is where this 14.54MB resides and why it isn't bigger.
I don't really understand the need for this Ramdisk stuff. Can I not just ditch the Ramdisk and install important apps to the device when they won't install to my SD card?
If I had no ramdisk wouldn't the applications I install to the device be persistent anyways?
So far I have installed Wizbar 2 and TomTom to the Ramdisk and I have already run out of space in the device storage memory.
Many thanks,
Laxity.
win2005 dont use ram for storage or programs or anything
it use flash
on 2003 it only used ram for storage and programs and application mem
and you had a slider to deside how much was for mem and how much for programs/data
so a basic 2005 rom give you all the 128MB as application mem
and only the 32MB in \Storage for everything else
ramdisk mean that the program make fake storage out of application mem
and let you install programs and data on it
I have installed the TofClock's ROM(exactly likethe one you installed too). I didnt have speed and storage problems because i installed ALL the applications to the "\RAMdisk".
your storage memory is for the \device directory like some \windows files and \My Documents.
install all your progs in the RAMdisk.
this is so far on of the coolest ROMs, i've been running on this for 4 days now.
BUT i have a big problem with this ROM: it shuts down at 24% level battery.

[Q] how to download big files from HD2

This is the question that some guy asked back in 2006. bun none answered. I have the same problem this days with my HD2 on win 6.5 with 8GB SD card, but only 46MB free integrated memory. I was try to download 80MB file from internet, but it was impossible because both opera and IE making temp file in main memory, and after successful download it was been removed to SD card and cleared from main memory. How to avoid making that temp file and allow download some file bigger then the free main memory? Can anyone help?

[Q] Downloading *Not installing* APK Directly to SD

I have an HTC Desire (CellSouth/Cspire bravoc) and only have 20 MB of internal space with ton of SD space left. Well, I want to install a game that is 32 MB. When the program installs directly to SD, it'll only take up 4 MB internally. But, if I don't have the 32 on the internal, it won't even download. I had this problem in the past with Paradise Island. Here are the tedious steps I've been performing to even update PI which is 25 MB.
1. I have 20 MB left, so I use Titanium Backup to backup/delete apps to free up at least 6 MB for a total of 26 MB free.
2. Download Paradise Island's update. It installs directly to SD card, so when the install is complete, I'll still have 26 MB space left.
3. Reinstall the backed-up apps.
This process is cumbersome, so I was wondering if there was a way to download the APK directly to the SD card for install. I'm NOT looking to "move" the app to SD after the app has been downloaded and installed so no one-liner suggestions for App2SD or using ADB setInstallLocation 2.
If this is possible, can you give me the exact steps? If it is not possible, is there a way to get the APK directly from the Android Market, then onto SD card so I can use File Expert to install? For all intents and purposes, I am S-OFF and am temp-rooted using Visionary+ on Froyo.
Thanks!
