Hello .. everybody !!
My biggest problem is the storege memory it is only 30 MB which is not enough 4 me.
1. i have i-mate pocket pc ( old model no keyboard ).
2. i used to have windows mobile 2003 OS which gives me 64 MB for storge mem. , 64 MB for Program mem. which is very good.
3. i have ugraded my i-mate to WM5 but it gives me only 30 MB for the Storege mem.
4. i installed all my programs into Ramdisk and they work prefectely.
5. But i want to increase my Storege mem to at least 64 MB if possiable.
6. i am running now ( 1.70a.96wwe rom - radio 1.08.00 - Protocol V. 1337.18 ) which is i feel the best no major issue's.
7. i have upgraded my i-mate to 2.01a.00WWE rom thinking that it will increase me Storege mem. but it is the same as my previous rom excpet camera issue solved and some other features.
8. i went back to my old rom 1.70a.96wwe
Please i need help for the Storege mem size if there is
thanks very much 4 our developers for their big effort and kindness

Hi ns700i,
Sounds as if you flashed to the wrong version of 2.01a for your needs. Try reflashing to 2.01a 64 which has 64 MB Prog memory and 64MB RamDisk (i.e. you old set up). You'll then also have 14MB of "Device" which you can increase to 30MB y using the DOC Tools to unlock (reallocate the old etdended memory which you ordinarily can't see). All this is posted over in buzzdev.net:-
http://buzzdev.net/component/option...view/id,14557/catid,26/limit,15/limitstart,0/

Hope that helps.

Haii .. Mallow1
well thank you very much for your reply but i have no problems with my exsiting rom , and if i followed you i will get the same Storage mem 30 MB which i do have now ..
i just need to increase my Storage mem size .. i feel that this is the right Storage mem size i can get 4 my i-mate due to my i-mate hardware configuration.
thanks alot.
Hi ns700i,
You are welcome. Under WM5 30 MB is the max for "Storage" memory so for those wanting needing more "Storage" we have to use a RAMdisk as well to provide the additional storage allocation of memory. Hence my posting above would allow you to use 94 MB total storage for installed programs and user files leaving you 64 MB of mermory to run active programs with. So effectivly you do get more storage (it just gets labelled slightly differently and is split between 30 MB "Storgae" and 64 MB "Ramdisk" or "FlashDisk"). Hope this helps to clarify things. In all othere respects the ROM I suggested you flash to is exactly the same as the one you are currently running (just the memory allocation is different and will result in something very close to your old WM2003 split od storage/program memory).

thanks..

Just wondering if some one can help,
I upgraded to WM5 from win 2003, then started load my progs back on, and got a message pop up saying low memory, when i had a look the storage memory was 0
Storage memory was 15mb all used up program memory 88mb 64mb free
and ramdisk is 32mb free is there any way to take some memory from the progs and add it to the storage memory, surley when i was adding my progs back on they should be loading to the progs memory
flash with Tofclock's 2.03 ROM 64/64 version - it gives you 64 MB for running programs and 64MB as Ramdisc. Join storage with Doc tool to gain 30MB of storage, but don't install anything in storage - it's slow. Install everything on Ramdisc. And remember - backup Ramdisk often to SD card.
where can i get Tofclock's 2.03 ROM 64/64 version
on buzddev.net in Himalaya WM5 section
Ok I'm totally confused so I hope someone can help me!....
Yesterday I finally decided to upgrade to WM2005. I tested a couple of different
ROMs and finally settled on Tofclock's AKU3.2 3.35a which was configured with :
64 MB RAM - 32 MB Page pool - 32 MB Ramdisk
My memory configuration appears as :
Storage Total: 14.54MB
Program Total: 61.23MB
Everything was working fine until I try to install a large app like Tomtom which
insists on installing some bits on the device and my 14.5MB of storage disappears and the installer hangs due to running out of space.
What I'm confused about is where this 14.54MB resides and why it isn't bigger.
I don't really understand the need for this Ramdisk stuff. Can I not just ditch the Ramdisk and install important apps to the device when they won't install to my SD card?
If I had no ramdisk wouldn't the applications I install to the device be persistent anyways?
So far I have installed Wizbar 2 and TomTom to the Ramdisk and I have already run out of space in the device storage memory.
Many thanks,
Laxity.
win2005 dont use ram for storage or programs or anything
it use flash
on 2003 it only used ram for storage and programs and application mem
and you had a slider to deside how much was for mem and how much for programs/data
so a basic 2005 rom give you all the 128MB as application mem
and only the 32MB in \Storage for everything else
ramdisk mean that the program make fake storage out of application mem
and let you install programs and data on it
I have installed the TofClock's ROM(exactly likethe one you installed too). I didnt have speed and storage problems because i installed ALL the applications to the "\RAMdisk".
your storage memory is for the \device directory like some \windows files and \My Documents.
install all your progs in the RAMdisk.
this is so far on of the coolest ROMs, i've been running on this for 4 days now.
BUT i have a big problem with this ROM: it shuts down at 24% level battery.

Can anyone explain why different ROMs have different memory? (I don't mean free memory, I mean total memory available).
If you click on About in Settings (/System) it informs you of your processor, (total) memory and expansion slot.
Here's examples all from the same Uni (I have 64MB):
48.18 MB Tomal v8
48.81 MB Tomal v7.7
52.82 MB rDosti v11
48.93 MB SHIVAM v310
51.15 MB NNCuong 5.2.19960
49.67 MB Frank v20270
49.18 MB PDAVIET v2.61.30
46.30 MB Mo3ulla v2.15(NB, you can also see this total memory in Settings/System/Memory under Program Total)

Dear JM,
You can calculate total mem in the following way:
total device mem - (mem allocated for boot + mem allocated for page-pool) = total available mem
example: 64 mb - (10 mb + 6 mb) = 48 mb
Thanks Tomal, and thanks for all the hard work you put in for this forum and your excellent ROMs.
I understand that page-pool is hard-wired in the ROM, and is chosen by the cook for the best performance of their ROM (when running). However, can anyone explain what memory allocated for boot is? Is this another hard-wired figure, or is it dependant on the programs needed for hard-boot.
hi plz can u help to allocate mor ram mem from the storage card or from the program disk???
This is not possible is all WM5+ Roms.
Only to 2003SE roms.
it is not possible in Uni

Ya its not possible to allocate ram from another storage .... it was possible in wm2003SE . and universal actually shipped with wm5 so there is no chance to do that. unlike some devices which shipped with 2003, there are people who has extracted the drivers and has it working, see the following post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=490948
.... the only option for uni owners is to change the chip...
cheers

Hello,
I bought I-Mate Jama 201 smartphone having WM6 (not sure if its Prophet or Magician).
The manual says that it phone has 64 MB RAM and 128 MB ROM. When I goto Settings->About .. I see
Total Storage = 44.52 MB
Total Memory = 39.19 MB
The available storage and memory is even more less. I think the device should show 64 MB RAM as per specification or atleast something around it.
I believe Total Memory is the RAM ,
if yes then
{
1. Where is rest of the 24.81 MB RAM gone ?
2. Is this a bug ?
3. Is there a tool/utility that I can run on phone to see what is the total
RAM ?
}
else
{
1. What is Total Memory ?
2. How and where to check RAM installed on Jama 201 WM6 phone ?
}
Thanks
found a link that explains it
Came across this link ..
