HOW TO CONNECT TO GTALK, MSN or YAHOO through port 80 ????? I need it please - General Topics

Hi, i need help cause Vodafone only let us (users from real mail) to navigate or use programs through port 80, 443 or 21, i need to conect to one of these messengers cause i need it to work urgently...please, someone knows how can i connect with any program? (not web based cause that messengers do not sound when anyone talks to you)
Please help!!!
Thanks in advance.

It seems that no one knows how to help or want to help...than i'll help myself and others in the same situation.
I made a lot of tests and the only software (native WM not Java Midlet) is Imov Messenger, it connects to Google Talks Network using as server "talk.google.com:443"
I wish this can help someone in the same situation like me.
Salut!

Try beejive.com's JIVETALK for WM6 devices. Do those work?

GPRS and https

Hey guys.....
I read in another post that https is supported by the xdaII but it didnt say whether it was through GPRS.
The reason I ask .... I have to purchase 3 pda/phones and this looks ideal.......if I can connect through GPRS connection to the https exchange server and send recieve emails.
Thanks in advance.

Scarper, I run my own little mail server at home which has a https web frontend in addition to serving POP & IMAP requests. I can access my mailbox on XDA2 via GPRS through the https frontend. Transport-wise I can safely say you should be able to access MS Exchange mailboxes via https. Question is what frontend would you be hitting? OWA? These things are rarely designed for the 240x320 screen size & GPRS bandwidth. You may find that access is unbearably slow or generally unusable due to UI limitations. Last but not least, if OWA uses any ActiveX components not supported on Pocket Internet Exporer you may still be out of luck. Hope this helps. Let us know how you go. Best of luck.
thanks for quick reply k_kirk .....
It will be going through OWA, now i have a dell axim connected to my home network and it uses owa to my work email no problem so i am guessing there will be no software issue.....I realise the speed through gprs will be slow but as long as it work I dont mind that.
Anyone else had an experience with this....comment or thoughts appreciated
Thanks again.
Scarper
Hi there. You are most welcome. This is most encouraging. An option you may want to try is fronting it via terminal services and access via the terminal services client on the PPC. This may give you a slight improvement in performance depending how heavy OWA is. Just a thought. Will wait to hear about your experiences. Regards
@scarper: What did you do for getting OWA to work via PIE?
Besides the scrolling you have to do on the MDAII,
I CAN get in, but once I want to open any email, it just doesnt repond . . .
edsub I am using a dell axim at the moment....I didnt do anything special just logged in and apart from all the scrolling it works......I dont know why or if it is supposed to......but it does.....so I am not complaining. Just as long as the xdaII works on it too, or I'll be in trouble because we have just ordered three xdaII's for use on the road for email.
If you want to know anymore info like settings in IE I would be willing to answer as best I can.
Cheers

Can anyone make Pocket MSN cab ?

I just lost 80 people off my list!
Stay away from it at all costs! damn stupid idiots at M$!!!
All i did was logon and when i logged on the PC i see 80 people missing!!
Please if you have a CAB file for Pocket MSN that comes from T-Mobile SDA for Installation, ill be VERY gratefull!!
Here's Windows Live Messenger for WM5/6. If you mean the MSN Messenger application included in WM5 ROM then it's already in your phone as part of the operating system. Check the windows folder for the executable...
@NiTroGenious, dear god NO! i do NOT want Live Messenger! it just cost me 80 people off my list! its horrible! all that contact syncing disaster!
I want MSN Messenger and yes i know it comes with WM5, but i put WM6 and it does not come with it, That is why i asked if someone has or can make a CAB for installing it. Since i couldn't find it anywhere on the net
Sorry for the misunderstanding. Anyway, if you don't want the "Windows Live! features", why don't you try an alternative MSN client, such as IM+?
Windows Live! features, killed 80 people off my MSN list
IM+ and the rest of the others, cost money. And MSN Messenger on the SDA is all ill need if i can port it to WM6 from the WM5.
Thank you for trying
if you used WM6 Perfect Edition, try to use IE, I add an Windows Messenger Mobile in IE favorite, it is a wap version, it works well when you only need text chat.
@andot, i did not see it, propably cause when i synced the mobile, my favorites replaced the ones you provided
I still prefer an independed solution, is there no way to integrate instmsgr from the WM5 rom?
PS: Just wanna say awesome job on WM6 andot! seriously! brought new life to my mobile!
PS2: I Just found the PERFECT solution! FREEWARE and can logon to: Yahoo, MSN, ICQ and GoogleTalk!!!
I am shocked no one told me about it before, check it out - http://www.octro.com/index.php
PS3: Here's another free one which also gives you SIP! http://www.fring.com/download

There is this one from Nitrogen HERE DownloadPocketMSN_wm5_by_nitrogen You probably know him
Also do a search for "Install_Pocket_MSN.exe" there are a few cabs around. I downloaded it and it installed fine for me. All though, I just can't get MSN to work...
And finally, as an alternate try: www.palringo.com Its what I'm using now, free, pretty flexible, still in development. So far works great for me. Audible sounds with every message you recieve, can log into multiple acounts, multiple PM's, can use on Desktop, can send voice and picture messages... try it out, Not bad at all, and it qualifies for your FREE request Good Luck mate.
@Nitrogen: Good to see you around mate!

Using MSN on T-Mobile and The Best Web-Based Messenger

Hey guys,
I use a Touch HD on T-Mobile basic web'n'walk, now I've heard many times that you can't use MSN or Skype or even FTPs. However the windows live on the phone functions perfectly, this is not the case though when I use it as a modem for my laptop.
So Basically I was wondering if there is a work around to get it to work on a laptop or computer as it works on the phone. Maybe a proxy or tunnel could do it?
Lastly if the above isn't possible what is the best web-based msn client? At the moment I use meebo and MSN web-messenger but I'm looking for something more developed than that.
Thanks in advance.
Bump - someonemust have an idea on this.

Mulitmessenger for: Skype (with voice support), StudiVZ/MeinVZ, ICQ, Facebook, MSN?

I always used Nimbuzz but they cut StudiVZ and dropped the development of the WM app.
Their JAVA version is annyoing because its not signed and there is no voice support in java.
So is there any software out there wich meets my requierements?
BTW: MeinVZ/StudiVZ would work with the Jabber protocol, i would only need to enter a diffrent server (wich nimbuzz doest support either of course).
try palringo! sometimes it's a bit laggy (depending on your device, i tested on touch diamond and hd2, worked fine on both), but i recommend it. StudiVZ isn't supported 'cause german networks didn't figure out yet, that WinMo is way older than the iPhone xD
you could try and ask the admins of StudiVZ, they may know another app
Vz has their own app..but i really want all in one program. Can i setup a custom jabber account with palringo? Then VZ would work too.
seems skype is removing itself out of all other apps than their own, so any decent mutlimessenger with VZ networks (or costum jabber server) and file and photo transfer out there?skype doesnt matter anymore..
Thread moved to Q&A.
