Using MSN on T-Mobile and The Best Web-Based Messenger - General Topics

Hey guys,
I use a Touch HD on T-Mobile basic web'n'walk, now I've heard many times that you can't use MSN or Skype or even FTPs. However the windows live on the phone functions perfectly, this is not the case though when I use it as a modem for my laptop.
So Basically I was wondering if there is a work around to get it to work on a laptop or computer as it works on the phone. Maybe a proxy or tunnel could do it?
Lastly if the above isn't possible what is the best web-based msn client? At the moment I use meebo and MSN web-messenger but I'm looking for something more developed than that.
Thanks in advance.

Bump - someonemust have an idea on this.

Video call to IM buddies

Hi all,
I've been searching everywhere and have not found anything on this so just wondering if anyone knows if the following exists. I use MSN Messenger for IM and I was wondering if there is a client application for Pocket PCs that allows you to make a video call (using the front camera) to your buddies.
In general, are there ANY clients besides the MSN Messenger network (Yahoo? AIM?) for Pocket PCs that supports video calling using the front camera?
Thanks,
Jeff
Microsoft Portrait is the only one, there are quite a few posts regarding it on these forums, just use the search, and you will find them.
It's not close to being an IM client like MSN, Live Messenger, Yahoo, or anything like that though.

Live Messenger and Hotmail direct push

Did AT&T remove the direct push for Hotmail, as well as removing the normal messenger?
Is there a way to add that to the Tilt without flashing the whole thing to the HTC rom? If so please let me know...
You guys are awesome!!
I had the same problem + Remote desktop missing with the Vodafone v1615.

I'm now up and running with Windows Live syncing nicely, and Messenger working fine!!
Windows Live
Here is the cab file to install MSN and Windows Live support in WM6
Awesome
Thanks a bunch!!
Does anyone know if the original windows messenger here charges text messages or data usage to use? I believe the AT&T version is text messages, hoping this one is data.
Thanks
this one is definitely data. I don't know of any Pocket PC messenger that charged per text, though I know the original messenger was also data (and practically useless.)

Help with Windows Mobile SIP VOIP

I honestly have NO idea where this should go, so I'll put it in this, the most relavent-looking place, and let the mods deal with it if I am proved to be wrong
Anyway. My friend owns a SIP VOIP server, allowing one to connect to it through teh internet and then dial out, recieve calls, or join conference calls. I am using a SCH-i760 with WinMo 6.1, so the built-in VOIP is non-functional/ not present, and I downloaded some cabs that failed to enable the integrated SIP client. No, Fring does not work on my phone for some reason. The only client I have been able to get working is SJPhone, but it is AMAZINGLY clunky, does not save my password/autologin, and I would like to be able to use the built-in Windows Mobile dialpad/answerer, and missed-call functionality.
Grateful to anyone who can help me here. The reason I'm wanting this is because I'm a money-strapped teen who can't afford Verizons high data services (and i can't find out an easy way to unlock this phone) but still wants to be able to have a 'cell number'.
Thanks,
Tandyman

icq on touchpad

is it possible toget ICQ messaging working on a HP TouchPad?
I wasn't aware icq was still in existence. If you or someone else wrote an app for it, it should work. Something like a trillian port might even be better to help cover those that use multiple chat programs.
Sent from my EverVolV Eris using XDA App
ICQ uses AIM's OSCAR protocol, and at one point used the same servers. AOL has sold ICQ, so I'm not sure if you can still use AIM clients for ICQ, but that used to be the case. Try an AIM client, it might just work. (ICQ is still popular some places, especially Israel, but not sure where else.)

Which is the best WP instant messaging app that combines multiple chat networks?

Hello, I am looking for an app that combines skype chat, facebook chat and maybe other networks in one single list. So far I've been using IM+, but it is veeery buggy and crashes all the time.
I've just installed Nimbuzz, but surpisingly it doesn't support Skype. Why is that, in the past it supported it?
Please help. Thanks.
I haven't had crash problems with IM+ at al, but it's definitely slow. Unfortunately, it was the option that suited my needs at the time, so I don't have a lot of other suggestions to make here.
With that said, Skype now supports forwarding IMs from Skype to a linked Windows Live account 9in fact, the two services are being fully combined, and the standalone Messenger client is being phased out). In a way, you could argue that WP7 already has a bit of built-in Skype integration therefore.
I think what'sapp is also a good app.......

How to link Skype account to Windows Live account?
Or should we link Windows Live account to Skype?
You can probably do it from the latest Skype client for the PC, or I know you can from the Skype app for Windows 8 / Windows RT (if you have something running Win8)
