There are some real chances that we will learn more about HTC's recently unveiled HTC Kii soon. The Taiwanese handset maker just invited the press to its two European events in the UK (Monday, October 1st) and Germany (Tuesday, October 2nd) to officially unveil its Q4-2007 line-up of Windows Mobile smartphones.
While HTC hasn't given any further information of what we can expect, I'm sure we will see (again) some familiar faces like the HTC Shift, maybe the HTC Nike (which was already announced in Japan as NTT DoCoMo FOMA HT1100) and most likely HTC's new flagship smartphone, the (which hasn't had it's launch event so far).
But maybe we will also see some new faces like the above mentioned HTC Kii, the HTC Polaris, and the (by some) heavily awaited HTC Omni.

i REALLY hope that the OMNI shows up, i'd hate to watch 2007 go into 2008 and think OMNI never existed but in the dreams of UNIVERSAL owners everywhere

In an audio interview with Jim Morrison - CEO and major shareholder of i-mate - from msmobiles.com 4 months ago, it was revealed that the company is looking into working with companies other than HTC - probably to do with increased competition with HTC in Europe.
According to newmobile.nl, it has been confirmed that i-mate WILL be ditching HTC:
HTC will continue to support its operator-branded products and OEM partners as a key priority. Within this continuation of support to OEM partners it must be emphasized that i-mate will stop all future activities with HTC within several weeks. They will end all activities around Windows Mobile products from HTC. Any information on future steps from i-mate concerning other models, platforms or manufacturers is not known at this stage.
And they also said that HTC is interested in the Symbian OS. Any one know anything about this?

the business is getting larger and larger, what is happening now is a pure fight or compatition on territories.
I-Mate is # 1 in the Arab region and middle east in their categorie. Nokia EMEA mentioned once that their compatition in this region is not with Sony Ericsson nor Motorola or any other brand but I-mate.
Each company is moving on a certain area and wants to secure it to reach a certain level of sales... tomorrow Nokia and Palm are also moving into this area with WM supported phones.

Is that just a saying or did you actually mean Nokia and Palm are moving into WM phones together? Cos I heard that Nokia is looking into Linux instead of Windows.

For Palm they aleardy have a working version to be released soon in the market based on WM5 its the Palm Treo 700.
Motorola has released the Q device based on Windows Mobile.
As for Nokia, in November at a DUBAI convention for the N-Series when a question addressed to the Vice President for Nokia Mobiles about a possible cooperation with Microsoft he didnt rule the idea that Nokia might have a device based on Windows Mobile. I doubt they might be really intrested into Linux while they are developing a similar or close OS such as the Symbian.
and the fact that HTC is gonna start selling to the public.that may be the reason i-mate is moving.

Yes, I did point this out in the first post. It's pretty unlucky for i-mate, though, as what they really do is just optimising the software for the HTC devices and then sell them under their own brand. Also, Jim Morrison - the founder of i-mate - was the guy who designed the very first xda!
As we concluded in a previous topic this is good for the market ... as of having a big competitor like i-mate selling other devices then HTC's .
I-mate has the advantage of customisation in my opinion...not sure about the market size of the two I-mate vs. HTC ( Qtek + Dopod + Operators)... HTC is not a big player in customisation (in my opinion they suck in this "region")
A lot has been going around the Taiwanese manufacturer of Windows Mobile Smartphones and Pocket PCs High Tech Computer Corp. (HTC) this month. It seems that it's going to abandon it highly popular European brand name Qtek in favor of manufacturing and selling the devices under its own brand - HTC.
HTC is the world's largest Windows Mobile devices manufacturer and has been producing handheld devices for its client: large network operators such as Orange, T-Mobile, O2 under ODM (Original Design Manufacturer) contracts and large OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) such as Hewlett-Packard and Dell. Beside all that, HTC maintained a brand of its own although they were not involved directly with its sales or marketing.
Table of all HTC models
It all began in the first days of June 2006 when HTC officially declared that they are going to acquire more than 50% percent of the Dopod shares. This way Dopod would become HTC subsidiary and they would use the brand on the Asian market. The latest phone that HTC made for Dopod was the StrTrk phone based on the HTC Star Trek platform - same as the last device to be sold under the brand Qtek - the 8500 clamshell.
On 15th June 2006 HTC made a statement that they are no longer to manufacture handhelds under their in-house brand Qtek. The company would continue to support the already manufactured product line but as of now they start a new product line with their own brand - HTC. According to HTC, their new brand won't compete with the devices manufactured for other brands since the new HTC PocketPCs and Smartphones won't be available in areas where there are operator-branded HTC handsets. The reason for that is that the ODM and OEM manufacturing would remain a substantial part of their business.

The new HTC logo
The change of the brand gets far beyond the change of the name tag itself. For the first time HTC will be directly involved in sales and marketing strategies and in the providing of technical support to end customers. Along with its new products the company is going to work actively on the sales of the latest Qtek 8500 clamshell.
The first additions to the new product line are the HTC TyTN and HTC MTeoR. In fact we have already reviewed these devices for you in a "a first look" preview. At the time we made our preview, the devices were known to us as Qtek 9600 (TyTN) and Qtek 8600 (MTeoR) and neither of the two was officially announced and there was no information from the manufacturer. The devices that are announced now seem pretty much the same as the devices we tested - with one big difference though: besides 3G fast data transfers, our Qtek9600/MTeoR test model had also a secondary VGA camera for video calls which obviously lacks in the new HTC MTeoR.

The HTC TyTN is a PocketPC phone based on the HTC Hermes platform, weighs 180 g and offers tri-band GSM, UMTS, GPRS, EDGE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Infrared and mini-USB connectivity options plus a large 2.8-inch touchscreen TFT display, a sliding QWERTY keyboard, a microSD memory card slot, a 2 megapixel camera and a Windows Mobile 5.0 OS. Its heart is a Samsung processor which ticks at a speed of 400 MHz and draws power from a 1350 mAh Li-Poly battery.
The HTC MTeoR is a Smartphone based on the HTC Breeze platform weighing 120 g. It features tri-band GSM, UMTS, Bluetooth, an Infrared port and a mini-USB port. It has a 2.2-inch color TFT display, a 1.3 megapixel camera, a microSD card slot and a Windows Mobile 5.0 OS. The device is powered by a Samsung processor running at 300 MHz and has an 1190 mAh Li-Poly battery. Unfortunately,

Is there any news about official release of windows 6.5 because today is 6th October. The day it was supposed to be released.
you know that the fact that it get released will not mean consumers can buy it
right ?
only thing is means is that manufacturers who promised that some models would get it gets it
and newer models can be released with it

Thanks Rudegar!
At least the developers Or ROM cookers can release good ROMs based on official release.
Just had a mailshot from a large mail order supplier here in the UK. They have supplied my employer for several years, so there is no reason to suspect them of being deliberately misleading.
HTC Touch2 6.5 available now.
HTC HD2 6.5 - Expected from 11th November.
Acer neoTouch F1 6.5 available now. (May be non HTC. Can't confirm.)
P.S. Better mention that all three devices are unlocked. (No contract.)

AT&T Launches Major Initiative to Bring 'Apps to All'

Will they make it? Will they be close? What Devices?
My guesses for the last three promised for mid year (though I don't think they're on track to make it), after the Moto Backflip and the Dell Aero:
* HTC Legend
* HTC Desire
* HTC Slide out dealie (their exclusive HTC)
After that, maybe the Samsung Galaxy S, Maybe a Moto Milestone.
If these things don't come to pass, then it will lend support to those that say that AT&T is enjoying too much success with it's iphone exclusivity to rock that boat by taking Android seriously. If AT&T keeps it's word, it will be an interesting 39 days until the end of the first half of the year.
with the recent rumors about the Lg Aloha, Samsung Galaxy S, Dell Aero, Dell Streak it seems like they might get some decent android phones. Only time will tell if they will jack them up like they did the backflip
AT&T has a habit of taking a good concept phone, castrating it, pricing it way too high, slapping their Nazi data plan requirement policies on it, and sticking it on the market. Nothing will change.
People with half a neuron buy their phones third-party, unlocked. My rooted G1 outperforms anything stock that AT&T puts out, thanks to the modding community.
Legend and Desire seem like plausible candidates. Also there was a "confirmed" rumor about the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10, not sure what happened with regard to that one.
The Desire is too nice. I'm sure they'll pick 4 more craptastic Android phones if that. They may have a different version of what "the middle of the year" means.

Yeah, that thought occurred to me, but I don't think the bean counting year is the version they were referring to in the press release, though if they fail it could be a convenient excuse.
I hope they get on the stick - the HTC Desire would be a great fit.
the Sony xperia x10a, HTC Desire and Dell Aero mini ar the only ones left my guess is the Nexus 1 is the HTC exlcusive From a post I read yesterday ATT Iphone contract done in June? maybe it was July but its over with for sure this year Read somewhere local to me VZW picking up the iPhone 4, 3 employees in the store have the phone in their possession and are bound by a confidentiality agreement, but this is all speculation still but according to this they will come close to doing it even though all release dates are unofficial. My guess is they are having problems with branding and keeping them locked to their crapware only. http://www.phonearena.com/htmls/AT-T-Cingular-carrier-c_14_3.html
I'm sure this all old news though
So what does this say for an exclusive iPhone retailer selling more and more android phones....wonder how Stevie jobs feels bout this lol

Anybody knows what happened to HTC "Tera", "Trophy", "Tide", "Salsa" and "Buzz"??? Year 2010 is almost coming to its end and still no any news regarding these phones. Weird! Are they cancelled? Maybe the answer is "yes", because of MS's newly launched WP7 OS. But what about the other Android phones? In 2009, almost (I think) every rumored phones got released to the market.

I'm talking about the original "Trophy" with a portrait physical keyboard and NOT the WP7-based HTC 7 Trophy. Also "Buzz" has a trackball, whereas "Wildfire" has a
clickable optical pad. So your info is totally incorrect.
I know that HTC is planning to release ICS on quite a few of their handsets 1st Quarter of next year, but the carriers are going to be the bottleneck for when the update actually goes live to handsets. If bell mobility is to release their ICS for Sensation build first, this would make the dev for the device a lot less of a headache.
http://www.theverge.com/2011/12/18/...red-bell-sensation-galaxy-s-ii-raider-optimus
If you had any doubts that we're officially in the "When's my Ice Cream Sandwich update coming" season, let us put them to rest. Beyond the Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S, the big question is how manufacturers will roll out Android 4.0 in conjunction with their custom skins and software. Sony Ericsson is making strong headway, and now Mobile Syrup is giving us our first hints for some other devices. A leaked internal document from Bell in Canada has estimated release dates for a few top-tier Android smartphones:
HTC Sensation — February 2012
HTC Raider — March 2012
Samsung Galaxy S II — April 2012
LG Optimus LTE — TBD
Obviously these rumored estimates are unofficial and probably subject to change, but at least its a solid sign that ICS is in the works for some of the more popular 2011 smartphones. The frozen north appears to be getting ready for this frozen treat, will US carriers keep up?
