Magician problem, can't make calls right - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 Software Upgrading

Hi.
today i had a problem with the mic of my magician, bit that it's not the worst, now i can't make calls, it just end the call and i can't make it right.
i already made an hard reset and it looks the same.
At this moment i'm updating the magician, to the same rom
Can someone tell me a good rom in english or portuguese, i'm using this one JAM_Por_11205_122_11210_ship

i'm using the 2.03 TX rom its really good and speeds up my imate jam, what are the exact symptons re the mic, as i know the terminals can corrode and just need cleaning inside, have you taken it apart, there are good english roms on www.slipstreamsolutions.co.uk, just goto rom updates and the imate jam one is there.
cheers Mark

O2 Atom makes High Pitch Noise from Speaker

Just purchased a new O2 Atom and notice when I turn the device on (dosn't have to be calling or talking to anyone) that there is a high pitch noise coming from the speaker.
This device has the latest fireware 20060123B1WWE.
I would like to try to reinstall the firmware but because it is only new I can register it until my 7 Days are up. Is there somewhere that I can get a copy of the firmware for Australian O2 Atom?
If anyone else is having or have had this problem can help me that would be great.
Regards
Scott
You do not have the latest ROM. Download and flash the "Leaked ROM" on this forum.
Can you please post the link to this "Leaked ROM"?
Are you sure this comes from the speakers and not the screen? There is a faint, high-pitched sound coming from my screen.
I have the same problem with the sound, but it definitely coming from the screen. My device was bought in Australia with first ROM. I upgrade it to 20060123B1WWE. Do you really think that it's a ROM bug?
I want to send my Atom back to Australia to fix this problem, because we don't have XDA service centers around. Or it is not worth wgile?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=42613
Don't send your device anywhere for fix  Just upgrade and yu'l be OK. If you want to know why I have both Atom and Jamin (causin 818 Pro) it is this sound you are talking of. Was actually going to bin the Atom
In fact there were 2 upgrades available in February: One official, and this "leaked" one, which is the last of them, and best 8)
So, you bealive ROM update could fix the sound problem? By the way, if I upgrate ny Atom with leaked ROM, would I have a problem with next oficial update from O2?
The leaked ROM didn't change the faint sound I hear from the screen, it's probably totally hardware dependant. And I doubt that you will have any problems upgrading to an official ROM. Whatever O2 does (and I see no reason for them to make this difficult anyway) there will be somebody who cracks it.
So, what to do with the sound?!
If this "sound" from the screen is only heard when you tap the screen, you should enter the equaliser program and turn it off. That way you won't hear double clicks when you tap.
Otherwise I don't know the problem you are having
It could be from my screen. It sounds like a high pitch noise from a dieing CRT Monitor.
Also the link to the "Linked Rom" doesn't work.
To victoradjei. We are not talking about screen taps sound! When my phone is swiched on, I can hear buzzing "electric" noise coming from the screen.
To ScottB82 - my Atom also was bought in Australia. May be it's hardware problem. Why don't you apply to service center? There is a link to leaked ROM on the econd page of the topic. First link is expired.
Well Nick, I also had that sound before the leaked ROM update. In that state even your calls sound with echo  I got that sound when I flashed the ROM currently on the seeo2 site. The original did not have it  Someone says the upgrade did not help, others say it did. Upgrading is not like remoulding your car bonnet, try it and reverse if you don't see improvement. Tweaking is what we do here on this forum 8)
I also have the high pitching sound on my Atom. I have the leaker ROM installed and I'm not sure if it made that sound before I updated my ROM. But it is annoying as hell.
Leaked ROM installed, but bloody sound has NOT gone! By the way, when I'm doing ROM upgrading should I leave SIM card in or better take it out? Or it dosn't make any sense?
I usually take out the SIM card, if I remember. But I have done upgrades without doing that, and they have worked just as well.
So, there is NO chance to get rid of this sound?!
Actually I have had a sound like that on most my PDA's. It's just that you don't notice it until you hold it up to your ear (in my case the left ear - the right one has tinnitus and can't hear those frequencies). I seldom make calls with the phone, to me it's a communication device. And if I make calls it usually means that I'm on the road, so I have a handsfree. I think that's the only total solution. On my old Blue Angel I had a much stronger sound too. This one I can hear from around 15 centimeter. The BA I could hear four meters away if the room was quiet! But I got that replaced on the warranty, and the result was a screen that made about as much noise as this Atom does.
How far away can you hear the noise?
I have one more Atom in my hand now & there is NO sound AT ALL. It's a pity we don't have service senters around & I can't fix my one/
I don't like being negative but the atom really sucks. I found a new feature:
rotate the screen to landscape, press reset. Instead of restarting, it starts to vibrate and not turn on. This continues until the battery is removed
I was checking out new pda's and the sales man was giving me the pitch on the atom. I mentioned that I had one and how it is the worst thing on the market and he stoped talking to me, turned around and walked off. To make it worse a vodafone sales man told me they may not be going to sell the exec that I am waiting for .

i hadnt replace it by the service cause its have to wait 4-8 weeks from the HTC taiwan sparepart. its there no problem again after replaced? the volume is higher then before or its the same? thx
Happened to my M600 - had to go back for a repair.
Volume is same or slightly louder.
It's a very common problem but should be OK once fixed. I've not heard of any breaking for a second time.

as same as before.....
Yes, unfortunately the first batches of the Dopod 818Pro has very lousy speakers. Mine died in April, and I bought it in Jan. When I checked PPCSG @ that time, the problem was so bad that the service center in Singapore ran out of speakers a few times. Also the same in Jakarta. I had to wait 1-2 weeks. Hopefully, the new batches are better. After 11 months of using it, I now find the vibration weaker than before. Sometimes I hardly feel it. But that could be because I dropped mine once or twice b4...
broken twice in 2 just 6 months. the first time was only after a little more than a month of use. and now. 4 months after getting the speaker replaced. the same thing happen.
wne to the service centre and they said that the main service centre in jakarta runs out of suply of speakers, so I guess i'm not the only one having these problem. a lot of people does.
next batch of speakers is coming in a month and supposed to be a different speaker. a better one or so they said.
was gonna get mine replaced with Hp 6828. but after hearing problems ppl have with their HP i'm kinda put off a bit. apparently problem with earphone jack plague the 6828 as it was in 6365. I might put some more research into it, before I decide anything
my is dead too ... if i press hard on the back of the phone, between the camera and the mirror (speaker hole) , the sound will come back temporary....
need to get it fix ... but I upgraded to SPL 2.2 ... need to downgrade back to 2.15 before they ll serve it under warrenty ... when will the imate have SPL2.2 or above....

No sound problem

I have a Qtek 8310 with factory WM5. I have done a hard reset option, and I cannot hear any sound when making a call. I do not know if its a problem with speaker, or some setting in OS, since I bought it from a seller who didnt know its condition.
I can hear sound when playing mp3, I can hear sound when using speakerphone.
Does anyone know what could be the problem? Will upgrade to WM6 solve this problem?
Thanks,
Goran
Try to update the radio. Was there any sound prior to hard reset?
As I said, I dont know, I bought it from the reseller who didnt know its previous condition.
I managed to disassemble it, and I have cleared speaker connector, and also tried to clear as much as possible jack, and I tried it after I assembled it, and it works. Now I have another problem - I cannot assemble top part of it to it correctly.
Its left side (when phone is laying on the front page) keeps popping out for 1 mm. No plastic clips are broken. When I remove all chassis screws, it sits correctly, but I cannot leave the phone that loose.
What can I do about this problem? Any catch?
I finally managed to assemble it properly. Now I have a big smile on my face.
I guess I will start playing with it now. Any good place for downloading some good applications for it? I thought MS office comes with WM5, but I dont have them installed. Maybe Wm6 has them? Or we should install it manually?

XDA Serra - problem with speaker

Hi,
Finally I've managed to get one of those phones - as a replacement for my Exec (best phone EVER! IMHO) and here I am!
I really want to change ROM ASAP but I might have a problem with hardware so want to check that first before doing HardSPL
- is your speaker really quiet? To the point that you can't hear TT/hands free?
- while playing teeter does your back cover gets hot? (in area of the speaker, battery is cold)
- sometimes no sound while playing teeter (possibly other games but haven't tested that yet)
- can you hear "gsm noise" every so often from that speaker? (don't know how to describe it, basically same noise as from other speakers when phone is connecting to the GSM BTS)
I'm still using Official UK O2 rom
many thanks for your help!
Cheers
Chris
XDA Serra
Hello!
columb, I have had my XDA Serra for just over a month now, with changing of the ROM, I'm not sure if its entirely necessary unless you need the standard one for a particular reason! I do recommend downloading the youtube App and quick gps patch from o2 if you want to use gps. I use copilot live 7 and its really good, fab phone! I upgraded from a XDA II so quite a jump, similar to the exec not quite as good tho!
With regard to your problems, I'v checked these with my friend who has a HTC Touch Diamond, (the non o2 keyboard-less version) and his is the same.
- My speaker is not the loudest in the world but still very audible
- The phone gets warm on the back when doing anything intensive, not to surprising considering the processing power/graphics of the phone, and after combing the manual found that o2 say that it is completely normal, just warm not hot.
- I always get sound with teeter unless system volume turned down ( obviously) so not sure about that one (be aware system volume is still separate to ring volume as on previous windows mobile)
- I don't get any GSM interference with the phones internal audio on any channel, not sure about that one again. There may be problem with your internal speaker.
The O2 rom isn't that bad, I'v compared it with the HTC rom seems to be just as responsive, if perhaps not quite as good looking.
Hope thats been some help!

XDA Serra
I am also using Serra.
speaker is not loud but it is acceptable for TT with voice.
try search "audioparam3.csv" in the forum you may get louder volume.
And I saw a thread in the forum cut backcover of the phone to make it louder and sweeter.
EXEC has two (or three?) speakers and it is very chunky so it has excellent stereo sound quality. However I couldn't imagine how to use it as a phone. It looks like a laptop or a brick.
I feel that most customized ROMs here are better than O2 one and you can always burn it back to original ROM anyway.
backcover does hot sometimes. I guess that is RF Radio module near tweeter area
Same problem
not sure if it helps but i have exactly the same ploblem with my phone.
the digitiser stopped being reponsive so i took mine in for repair. o2 took a month to fix it they did a half asses job and put in a new digitiser bur left the glass laminate which is coming un laminated and has a washing up liquid effect in the middle of the screen.
anyway when they repaired it they also upgraded the software' last night i had to make a call in the car' not having paired it yet with the bluetooth stereo i used the loud speaker. after 10 seconds or so it all went quite. i toggled loud speaker off and on again. it came back for a few seconds and went again.
i also get pops from the speaker occasionally and can here the same gsm noises at the end of calls.
the phone never did it before the rma and software upgrade so its going back.
just thought i would let you know its not just you.
i think some of the earlier hardware has an issue with the latest O2 rom.

You can also insert and remove the earphone pin in the socket a few times instead.

Audio jack
Hi all,
Maybe you should disassemble your device and bend the pins of your ear jack
connector- same problem was with my Uni, and it's easy to fix.
Remove back cover, battery, then the 4 screws, then the back.
then you can see the jack. Mine was also dirty(green, rusty pins)so I had to clean it.(I got my Uni really cheap, without charger and stylus, I paid 50 euros for it)
