I am having exactly the same problem as him. http://www.mobileplanet.com/ft.aspx?k=93375
When attempting to enter the domain name during login to our office WAN I am unable to enter an underscore (_) in the domain name field. Bringing up the symbols window and selecting the underscore immediately aborts (or accepts) the settings screen without the underscore. I am totally frustrated! Without the ability to add the underscore into that field, the WI-FI is totally useless to me. Does anyone know of a way to type, cut/paste, an underscore without using the symbols pane? Any help would be appreciated.
What I am doing step by step:
After selecting the wireless router that I wish to connect to, I continue throught the Wi-Fi connection screens, first indicating the Network Type, then on the next screen, the Authentication and Data encryption settings, and so on... once I indicate that I am Finished, a connection to the router is made and I am required to log on to the network which requires a Username, Password and Domain. Our Domain includes an underscore (_) which I cannot find a way to enter. Domain name example "head_office"

I am using Samsung Blackjack i600 with WM5. I know how to select (_) but on the logon box when I press OK to select it, the logon box thinks that I am OK with the logon information! It is impossible for me to logon just becuz of the underscore!
Here is my wifi setting:
network type: internet
this is a hidden network: n/a
authentication: WPA
Data encryption: TKIP
use IEEE 802.1x network access control
EAP type: PEAP
Hey
You should try to Type the rest of the message Without the underscore and go back to were it underscore needs to be, and place it last, Or it could b(with the newer phone) it could be an issue were it automatically chages the _ to a space.
hope this helps if not so idk hope this helps.
Similar issue
Sorry for bumping an old thread but I'm having a similar issue with my i600/WM6. The wifi logon box disappears when I'm trying to type a symbol from the symbols table (required for my password). The solution above doesn't work, the OK button does nothing, the box is gone right after the symbols window appears. I'd appreciate any help.
just hold down the # key mate, and a special character menu will pop up, select the underscore from there

I just updated to WM6 and everything is working fine except i cant connect to T-Mobile GPRS anymore, it will start to connect and then disconnect right away. Also my MMS and SMS messages arent sending, how can i fix this?
You have to remove a '0' from the IP Address of one of the servers - for example the IP address should be 192.56.12.34, but the settings make it 192.056.12.34. It it this extra '0' that breaks it. I can't remember exactly where this is but, Settings, Connections, Connections and then somewhere in My ISP I think
I am sure someone on here will correct me shortly.......
If the seaching on this Forum didn't suck so much you wouldn't have needed to post
Andy

Try This Had The Same Problem:
For GPRS:
Start-Settings-Connections tab-Connections
Click Add A New Modem Connection, Under Enter A Name For The Connection Put In T-Mobile GPRS. Then For Select A Modem Click Cellular Line (GPRS). Click Next Then For Access Point Name Put wap.voicestream.com, then next again and then finish. And Now It Should Work.
For MMS:
Tap Start again.
Tap Messaging.
Tap Menu.
Tap MMS Configuration.
Tap the Servers tab.
Tap New.
Enter T-Mobile MMS in the Server Name field.
Enter 216.155.165.50 in the Gateway field.
Enter 8080 in the Port number field.
Enter http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms in the Server address field.
Tap to select T-Mobile GPRS Or The Internet If T-Mobile GPRS Isnt For Selection from the Connect via drop down list.
Tap to select WAP 2.0 from the WAP Version dropdown.
Tap OK.
Scroll to PictureMessaging and tap Set As Default.
Tap OK.
MUST HAVE GPRS SET-UP FIRST IN ORDER TO DO THE MMS CONFIGURATION!
I have been playing with my new Kaiser(Tilt) since I got it earlier in the week. Rom is updated and everything is the way I like it. I would like to have my mac to connect to my Kaiser with bluetooth for internet access I just don't know what the AT&T setting are:
-telephone number
-account Name
-and password
I have looked all over and nothing I can find works. The Mac tells me
-A modem error occurred. Please verify your settings and try again.
What can I do to get this working? What setting are you using to make theis work for you?
You have to enable the Internet Sharing app. You can either find it in the Windows folder (IntShrUI), or you can do as I did and perform a hard reset but kill all the carrier customizations. By default, AT&T removes the program shortcut from your Programs folder. Here are some instructions, courtesy of the AT&T forums:
(1) From the Mac, initiate the pairing process with the phone. It will say the phone doesn't have any supported services, but then the last page of the Bluetooth wizard will say it supports a Personal Area Network.
(2) Open the "Internet Sharing" application on the phone.
(3) Change the method used to connect the computer from "USB" to "Bluetooth PAN".
(4) Click "Connect".
(5) On the Mac, click the Bluetooth menu on the Menu Bar and select "Join Network on [device]". (The Internet Sharing app on the phone should now say "Connected".)
Need more info
I got that part down, thanks. It's when it is trying to connect it imideatly disconects and tells me - A modem error occurred. Please verify your settings and try again. What are the settings on the mac side for
-telephone number
-account Name
-and password
Bluetooth PAN doesn't require those settings. It looks like what you're after is Bluetooth DUN. I believe you'll need to use the WModem app that's in the Connections tab. These should be the settings you're seeking:
Type [email protected] in the User name field.
Type CINGULAR1 in the Password field.
In the Dial field, type *99#.

My Treo 750 will not recieve picture messages.. Tell me to log into my tmobile account to view.. Is there any way to fix this error?
Thanks
Dub
I think that it is the setting
se here : maybe there is a deference between the numbers and your server. ask your server for the correct numbers.
1. Start, Settings, Connections, and then tap the Connections Icon
2. Under "My Work Network" tap Add a New Modem Connection
3. Name it Picture Messaging and under Select a modem select (GPRS,3G)
4. Under Access Point Name type: wap.voicestream.com
5. Username, Password, and Domain is left blank and then click Finish
6. Now, go into Proxy Settings and check "This network connects to the Internet" and check "This network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet"
7. Under the Proxy Server box type: 216.155.165.050
8. Tap the advanced button and tap on the HTTP line. Make sure the HTTP settings shows 216.155.165.050:8080. If not, change it.
9. Click the OK button a few times to get out of the settings completely.
10.Now go to Start, Messaging, Menu, then Options, Advance, then Click Manual, and then the Edit button
11. Message center number +12063130004
12. Email center number is 500
13. MMS gateway address is 216.155.165.050:8080
14. MMS URL is http://216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
15. Finally under Network Profile select: My Work Network and then click ok.
I have the same problem!!

try to log off pc then logon from phone.
Remote desktop, using Remote Desktop Mobile?
If it hasn't been done already you'll want to activate RDP on your PC (Using Windows 7, PC Control Panel > System > Advanced system settings (on the left) > "Remote control" tab, check "Allow connection from devices using any version of Remote Desktop (less secure)")
If it already has been activated then I'm not sure.
Obviously you need to be on the same network and point it to the correct address, but logging in from a remote desktop automatically logs out from any local session. At least that's what it does here.
Sorry if it didn't help.
best way to try this is be on your WiFi network at home, Put in the Ip address of the PC you want to use then the username and password.
This works on mine ok
so it can only be used in the home network ?
I mean....using a different wi-fi access doesn' t work?
Make sure you have a password set for the user account you are trying to log on with. If you haven't set a password it will give invalid password error.
I have some issues setting this up. I write the following. Please let me know if i type it wrong:
Computer: Name of my computer
User: Username
Password: Password that i use to loggin to my computer
Domain: My home networks IP.

If you can't connect using the computer name, try using the IP address of your computer. Unless the computer you wish to connect to is part of a network domain, you can leave that field blank.
If you're trying to connect via a WAN (Internet) connection then you'll need to have IIS installed on your PC and configured on your router/firewall.

thanks! works fine, but the sound is horrific. any way to fix that?
I have enabled RDP on my PC yes, and i dont see the point of doing remote desktop from my wifi network, i can just aswell go ahead and use the computer then.
I have a data flatrate on my phone im going away for a week and i wanted to have access to my pc over the internet.
I typed in my IP adress in the Computer field
My Login Username into User Name field
My Login Password into Password field
Domain i left empty because i dont realy know what am i suposed to write there.
It gets me to my login screen of the PC, where i have to putin my password again for my only PC account. I type it in and it says wrong username/password.
And yeah i have tried loging out on the pc first, still the same thing.
Right click on "My Computer" and select properties. Go to the tab called "Computer Name" and look what it says is the "Full computer name". That is what you need in domain name.
So, you have the external IP address of your PC (don't forget, this will probably change with a router reboot), your username & password, and then the domain name from above.
That should do the trick, but let us know if it doesn't.
Still says username/password wrong. Ive even changed the pasword to something realy simple with no Y or Z because maybe the keyboard might be set to english/german or something. Ive also opened the Port in my router. Im out of ideas. Im not on the new updated rom btw, still the preinstalled one, but i dont think that should matter.
Thanks for your help.
Uhm, let me get this straight: You are trying to use RDC from somewhere outside your own network at home where your computer resides?
Check these things:
1. Make sure that you have opened RDP in your router and forward to the correct IP-adress (your computer).
2. If you have any sort of firewall installed (F-secure, Norton, ZoneAlarm etc etc), make sure you have opened the port for incoming connections to port 3389 and also that you havent set it for a specific IP (the one you are connecting from, not your computer).
3. If you do see the loginscreen you have enabled the service, otherwise you wouldnt see it at all (doh...). RDC-service doesnt allow blank passwords (unless you know how to hack the service) so you must have a password set for the user you are trying to login as. That user must also be listed in the Remote Desktop Users-list (My computer -> right click -> Properties -> Remote sessions tab -> Users-button).
4. If you have a domain at home (ie with a server that serves as a domaincontroller etc), then you need to fill out that domainname, otherwise LEAVE IT BLANK, you ONLY need to fill out the username and password, nothing else.
5. If you are on a domain and cant login, try login to "Local computer" instead of domainname, RDP might be blocked by the domainpolicies.
6. Try to do this from a computer first, not from your phone... RDC in winmo is a... "RDC Light" really.
This works fine for me, use it both at work and at home... and i work as a network-tech & admin

There must be more to this than meets the eye, because I am on a workgroup on my home PC, and I have to put the PC name in as the domain, or I can't connect.
It'll obviously do no harm to try it both ways.
Edit:
I just tried it and it works both with and without. It actually worked when I put rubbish in there that relates to absolutely nothing. I guess that means if you're not part of a domain, it doesn't matter what you put in there.
here is my problem:
I would like to connect to my laptop from local network. I can connect perfectly when I type in my IP address into the first textbox (Computer), but I can't connect when I type in my Computer Name (full computer name) into Computer. I tried port forwarding, leaving domain name empty, putting in my workgroup name as a domain, putting in my computer name as a domain, still the same. It won't connect unless I put in the IP address. I would like to do this since my workplace assigns a different IP to my laptop then I assign at home, but naturally I have the same computer name at both places, so I would like to have a permanent setting for both places. Thanks in advance.

It seems your phone is trying to access Internet using connection settings for previous US operator. Did you make all the settings for your local network (Start > Settings > Connections > etc.)?
a guide how to do it
1. Start, Settings, Connections, and then tap the Connections Icon
2. Under "My Work Network" tap Add a New Modem Connection
3. Name it Picture Messaging and under Select a modem select (GPRS,3G)
4. Under Access Point Name type: ____________ (ask your cell company)
5. Username, Password, and Domain is left blank and then click Finish
6. Now, go into Proxy Settings and check "This network connects to the Internet" and check "This network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet"
7. Under the Proxy Server box type: _________ (ask your cell company)
8. Tap the advanced button and tap on the HTTP line. Make sure the HTTP settings shows __________ (ask your cell company)
9. Click the OK button a few times to get out of the settings completely.
10.Now go to Start, Messaging, Menu, then Options, Advance, then Click Manual, and then the Edit button
11. Message center number _________ (ask your cell company)
12. Email center number is _____ (ask your cell company)
13. MMS gateway address is ___________ (ask your cell company)
14. MMS URL is http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/servlets/mms (ask your cell company)
15. Finally under Network Profile select: My Work Network and then click ok.
Thank you very much for sending me this procedure to correct the setting of my mobile phone. I will coordinate with my Local network here in the Phils. to supply the needed settings.
Best regards,
Abrille
Dear All,
I have followed the instructions that you have given to me but still I couldn't access and/or browse the internet as well as receiving MMS format files. I tried to access and view some threads and I happened to see an email thread that gives an instruction on how to Re-flash/Unbrand a Palm Treo 750... I would like to ask your expertise Sirs if this is the next possible way or solution to solve the problem with my Treo 750? I hope someone can help me on this...thank you and more power to all.
Abrille
To access internet via Internet Explorer, you need the correct GPRS/WAP settings to tell it to use the right APN.
Try the settings listed here:
http://smart.com.ph/corporate/support/FAQs/GPRS+and+MMS+settings.htm
To set up a new GPRS connection profile use this:
