Can I autocomplete using keyboard? - General Topics

Hi all,
I have a query that I think affects all Windows Mobile 5 devices but that I am experiencing on the HTC Hermes.
Is it possible to accept an auto completion suggestion using the slide out keyboard?
This is particularly annoying in Word where I can type away on the keyboard at a fair speed but seem to have to reach for the stylus to accept auto completion suggestions!
Is there a key or combination of keys that will accept these suggestions?
Any help gratefully accepted
Andy Robins

Sorry to answer my own question but I have just found out from Werner on Microsoft.public.pocketpc that this is a simple matter of pressing the down arrow to select the suggestion and then tapping enter to accept it.
Problem solved

Help with O2 XDA Stealth, keypad (bottom phone slide)

Hello, I am using O2 XDA Stealth, and try to find around but I can't find a solution of this. When in sms mode, I want to use it's build in keypad for text input which is Nokia like, but it doesn't let me input letters but only numbers. Any solution please? (Not T9 on-screen keypad, but physical phone's keypad) Thank you guys.

hi
press and hold the * key to switch to Multi-Tap. Then you can do it like nokia.
Change your input type to eZitext, rather than keyboard.
is any other program better than the ezitext?
this information is very helpful..thanks

Skipped keys while typing fast on Samsung Epix (i907)

Hi,
When I type fast on the Samsung Epix (i907) keyboard, then often letters are missing, even though I did get the feedback from the keyboard that the keys were pressed. For example, when I try to enter "this is a test with the new keyboard" it just came out as "this is ates wit the newkeyboard".
I am typing at the same speed on other mobile devices (e.g. Blackberry) and it works fine there.
Here is what I have tried so far:
1) Turned off Word Completion and Auto Correct under "Settings/Input/Word Completion". Some posts suggested that solves the issue on some other Windows Mobile devices, but it did not do anything on the Epix.
2) Changed sensitivity on the Up/Down Control under "Settings/Buttons". Same result: no change.
3) Performed a hard reset and tried it again with only the blank OS (plus all the goodies AT+T added...). Still same result.
Does anybody have any other suggestions?
Thanks much!
Ralph

Thanks for the quick reply. Which forum is the most appropriate for this question? I was not able to find a forum specifically for the Epix.
Thanks.

Is it random letters or is it always the same letters that you missing? According the example text that you have given it seams you have missed twice the space key.
However I have such issue with my HTC Universal. In my case I found out it is the keyboard membrane that doesnt function as it suppose to be and it is mostly the same letters that failing.
See now I had the Mogul and this happened almost no stop. I figured it to be an issue with lag?

Asked to enter product key but no keyboard on screen - help please

Hi,
I have installed copilot 8 on my xda o2. It asks for me to enter the product key, but there is no keyboard on the screen so I cannot enter anything. Is there a way of getting the keyboard showing? or using one of the other entry methods?
If you can help I would be very grateful as need the software to work.
thanks
jp
Try mapping a hardware key to open up the keyboard. Under buttons switch something to <Input Panel> and press that. The keyboard should come up. You can change it back later.
thank you.

[Q] Multi-language keyboard auto-switching bug?

Hi everyone
I first dismissed this error as another manifestation of the N1's touch screen drawbacks; but since I owned the Nexus S, the same error reappears, and it’s driving me nuts:
All signs point to the fault being caused by the Gingerbread keyboard. This is how you reproduce it:
1) Use more than one keyboard layout / input language
2) Type anything, switch to the first symbols keyboard
3) Hit any key from the symbols keyboard, and afterwards, directly the space bar
4) The keyboard switches back to letter mode, all good up to now
5) Hit the symbols button again
6) The input language automagically changes to the adjacent one, the keyboard switches back to ABC mode
Suffice to say, this is quite an annoyance. There’s a workaround, though: this doesn’t happen if you hit the ABC key before hitting space, but that’s not how I expect my keyboard to work.
Is anyone else able to reproduce this issue, and if yes, does anyone know how to fix this? Unfortunately, extensive research throughout last week didn’t bring back any usable results.
Thanks for your help!

Hey!
this happens also on my Nexus S...really disappointing (
I played around in the Keyboard settings but couldn't find a way to fix this (unless you remove multiple languages....but that's not the point :S).

[Q] Help - Phone's virtual keys "shifted" down

Hi,
I'm on a Topaz with WinMo 6.5 Hebrew enabled but English interface.
Lately the number keys in the phone application are shifted one row down. I mean' when I press a number, the phone thinks I pressed the number one row below that. (i.e. If I press the place showing 5, an 8 will be dialed)
Oddly the "TALK" button and the "backspace" arrow button next to it do function normally, as does the whole screen in any other application.
My verbal explanation is not so clear, so please see the attachment. A screenshot with explanatory text.
Any idea what could have caused this? or how to fix it?
I was thinking about removing and re-installing the phone application, but don;t know how to do that, so any help in that direction would also be welcome.
Thanks!
~Azaria.
What is the right forum for this question?
It really bothers me, so really want to solve it.
