Hi all,
I have upgraded my O2 Mini to the T-Mobile 1.13 ROM as I really wanted the Blackberry software. I installed it and it worked a treat and was wrapped. I then wanted to the do the BIG Storage cos I really need the extra space. So I upgraded to radio 1.13 and then did the bid storage.
However, when I loaded the blackberry CAB file, it wouldn't work. I tried all the BB configuration options, but no luck. I then re loaded the T-Molibe 1.13 ROM, installed the BB software, and bingo, it was working again.
So I'm wondering if its the radio 1.13 upgrade or the big storage thats causing the problem?
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Deva
Probably BB needs some additional library from another CAB.
The same applies to Arcsoft MMS 2.5, installing that CAB alone will result in a not working application. You need CallerID installed also.
Yeah, I thought that may be the problem to esackbauer, but I did a hard reset with the T-Mobile ROM, and then soft reset it before all the CAB files were installed. I then just installed the BlackBerry CAB file, and it worked perfectly.

Hey,
I am personally just bursting with excitement over the possibility of getting WM6 on my tornado, even though (like most folks) I doubt that I have any ability to contribute technically to the effort. So, just to get my ideas out, without cluttering the "Official WM6 thread", I started this one. This is so people who really know what they are doing don't have to screw with the clutter, unless they want to.
So, my first hope for the new ROM--I doubt that there could have been much improvement to crappy Windows Media Player, so my suggestion is that that be removed, and replaced with TCPMP.
Why not customize instalation
Sorry about my english, but why not a customize instalation ?
Like WINDOWS, you can choose in advance what aplication you want, or similar thing, like, they can generate a lot of roms with english an other language in order to save space. I will only install the rom with english and spanish.
Also, I prefer that Pocket Office will be included in the rom that you are cocking.
Thanks
Ok, plan at the moment... English ONLY ROM with various language packs (including t9) that will be available as CABs for separate installation to save precious storage. The 'vanilla' ROM (no t9, no task manager, no office, no camera) only has around 19mb of storage to play with :S
Office will be available as a CAB, again to save space. WMP has been improved with support for the creating and saving of playlists on the device. TCPMP MAY be embedded depending on how many people prefer it over WMP.
As for other stuff, I'm open to ideas, it's really up to YOU how you want this ROM to work and what's in it (within reason of course )
BTW good idea to start a new thread for requests in the ROM (useful for saving clutter ) I'll link to this in my original post in 'The Official WM6 Thread'

TCMP only is a BAD IDEA!
Error post... disregard. Next post covers everything I wanted to say.
TCMP only is a BAD IDEA!
I love TCMP, but it can't replace WMP.
Yeah, TCMP is a better player for just about everything, but there are certain things that I still need to use WMP for.
For example, streaming media is a nightmare for me in TCMP because of certain proxy servers I use. WMP shares IE's proxy settings, so if IE can see the internet, WMP can, whereas TCMP can't.
Also, I've run across some weird files (high bitrate aac's) that froze TCMP, but WMP skips over the corrupted portion and keeps playing.
Yes, TCMP is great, but not at the cost of WMP. Please, don't take it out.
Personally, just install TCMP on a storage card, and everyone should be fine!
While we're on it...
You say that you're going to make office a .cab optional installation.
Interesting... Hey, this is a long shot, but is there any way we could try that with a WM5 device? I'm really just looking for office mobile, so if there was a way to extract that and make it work on wm5, that would be AMAZING.
I know, there's probably some propietary WM6-only stuff that would prevent it from working, but thought I would ask.
Ι think that there is no one here prefers WMP over TCPMP (or Core Player) but there is no reason include it in the rom. As you said the storage memory in Tornado is valuable and I like like your idea to give us language packs in seperate cab files. I only need English and Greek pack.
Also Office and Adobe LE have already ported from rom and work fine in storage card, so no need to be in rom.
keep on good work, can't wait!!
i believe that the applications that are to be put in the rom are the standard ones... cause like everyone has said memory is so valuable... and besides you can install tcmp to it anytime you want but you cant install wmp if you take it out... to say replace wmp with tcmp in my opinon is selfish...
oh and i would like to recommend to map the media buttons (Short_AP1-4.lnk's i think) like those on the imate sp5m,qtek8300 and t-mobile sda as default... most roms even the custom iphone dropped this... cause its a nice feature of the tornadoes... and if those arent the "would be" users preference its easy to remap it with something else but remapping it to a rom that dosent support it (like the c500 rom) is really hard... just my 2 cents...
I suppose there is a use for WMP...I do use it to play drm-protected (license only) wma files. but maybe coreplayer can get licenses? I suppose if we have to have wmp, tcpmp will stay on the storage card. no complaints.
I do hope that a2dp support exists in the new rom. That is something I can't live without.
With regards to the media player buttons...that would of course be different between 8310/sp5 and 8300/sp5m. It is easy enough to customise those in existing wm5 roms, but I wonder what version of tornado this rom is coming from?
Sorry for my poor english. Is it real to do that new rom will be unlocked passing over in silence? That will be handy to use. My opinion that there is no reason to include in rom those application that can be installable by the separete cab files. Every one can decide what to install by itself. I think there is no need to include in rom WML or pocket MSN, original file manager and task manager. Every one can decide what to use. Thanks.
good point lovetz... making them installable cabs would save alot of memory... and yes the file explorer from the rom does suck ends! maybe our chefs could do that...
and yes i hope they put in a2dp support!!! good bye wires!!!
I personally prefer a clean ROM with stable Radio version. Just put in all the default softwares that a typical WM6 device will have to make it 'real' and pure WM6. Then from there, users can choose what they want to install. Perhaps put some options so that softwares like File Explorer, WMP can be uninstalled from the Remove Programs part
Few updates for you
A2DP - built into the ROM already
Office for WM5 - HERE
WMP will be staying and TCPMP will be packaged as a CAB
Phil
Whether the FrameWork.NET will be built-in this rom? And what version if will be.
Completely agree with this opinion: a "clean and stable" standard WM6 ROM. Everything else goes to Storage Card. Thank you for a great job !

WM6 is using AKU3 and NETCF2, even if its not, now we have the option to install NETCF2 into storage card directly, just download the latest NETCF2 SP2 and choose to install at storage card
karhoe I already have this version of FW.NET on my SD. I'm interesting in this, koz i need more free space in new rom. Is it possible to remove this application from rom?
It's possible yeah but why would you want to? If I ripped it out of the ROM then I'd have to put in .NET CF 1.1 and you wouldn't save any space at all...
Phil
This will be incredible if I am able to load WM6 on my Tornado. I would have no problem sending a Paypal donation? Thanks for taking our suggestion on how to make this better and is awfully kind. My only question is whether there will be a Qtek 8300, Imate SP5m version and a Qtek 8310, Imate SP5 version also?
There will be a .zip with the relevant shortcuts for each model in it that you just need to unzip to the /Windows folder on your device...
As for paypal, I'll add a donation link when i get round to setting up a paypal account/remembering my password
Phil
If you remove .NETCF from rom, all can install it to SD by themselfs using cab file. This will free more space in rom. I'm about that this app. can be installed from separate cab file to the SD card, not to the main memory as if it be in rom.
I've been struggling for the past few days to convert my (working) Voice Command UK cab into an OEM. I've taken the OEM for the US Voice Command from Alex's ROM Kitchenfor reference, but I'm having problems. I've tried:
- Replacing the files inside the US OEM with those from the UK cab, and changing the file names in the reg file,
- Making an OEM from the files and registry entries in the cab
- Making an OEM from the files in the cab, and the registry entries that show as changed in a reg dump before and after installation
So far, the best I can manage is for Voice Command to be assignable to a button, but then she doesn't speak! It understands some commands (for example, pressing and saying "Open Windows Media Player" will open WMP, but without her being able to talk the applications 90% useless).
I'm sorry to be asking to take up the time of our experts, but I'm at a serious brick wall and don't know which way to go now. Could anyone suggest where I'm going wrong? I can't seem to attache the working US OEM, the working UK cab, and the non-working UK OEM (keeps saying Upload Failed), so I've stuck them on MegaUpload: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=210FSFHW
Thanks for reading, and for any help everyone.

I will have a look at your files later.

Thanks for the reply Laurentius.
The initflashes file has the same two entries as the original US OEM version, a link going to the helpfile, and a link to Voicecmd.exe going into the Startup folder. I'm not saying that's NOT where my problem lies (haven't got a clue where it is!) but I've even checked the links through Notepad and they're pointing to the right files.
Should probably say, don't try installing any Voice Command on your ROM, as the VC program doesn't play well with the Vodafone 3.08 ROM. It works fine on the 3.02 ROM, so I'm using a custom version of Slueth's 6.1 ROM at the moment. It works fine with the cab installed, so I don't think the ROM is the reason my OEM's not working.
Thanks again for the reply, any and all help is very greatly appreciated for my little problem.
What I usualy do is....
Install the cab and check the directory's and shortcut directory's!
In your case you have the US cab already, so next one is easy!
I use Registry Workshop to Explore and dump registry entry's on the device!
So if you compare the values with the US one's it should be easy!
I just released my V4 ROM, but I promise I will look into it later
Regards,
Leo

I have a working OEM package for UK VC 1.60.4622.0. There is one annoyance however and that is if you open the Voice Command settings and then hit OK you get two error bleeps and a window titled 'Voice Command' with a red cross and the text 'Cannot save all changes'. Voice Command does work though, however I have only had my Kaiser a few days and I haven't done any extensive testing - I probably need to go for a drive with my Bluetooth Headset and call a few people....
I created this package previously for my HTC Wizard and with WM6 running on that I don't get the same error.
To get this working on the Kaiser all I have done is changed the Key mapping in the .RGU registry file so the top left button (6) activates VC.
If I install the VC UK Cab the error I described does go away.
Andy
Just a quick update. I rebuilt my ROM with VC 1.60.4622.0 US (this is the original OEM package I found that I based my UK OEM one on, I can't quite remember where I got this?) and you get the same results with the two error bleeps and the 'Cannot save all changes' dialogue box.
Andy
i'm just quickly looking at it. Theres some missing files like comt3s51.dll, conveng.dbr and some random dlls here and there. Not sure what they do, but missing couple files here and there could be it. i have to get going, but decide to help with that.
This is a must have for all HTC Tornado phones. With this software, you can perform various functions by talking to the phone. For example, you can activate the program and say dial Home, and it will call your house. With Digit dial, you just have to utter the numbers and the program will call the number.
This software is bundled with all Dopod 577w phones - WM5 version.
However, when we install our phones with cooked ROMS which have a different ID, this software won't work anymore because it is only bundled with phones with 'dopod577w' ID. However, legally we have the license to this product already.
Hence, with the help of SGregory, here I present you the patched Cyberon Voice Commander which will only work for HTC Tornado.
Here is how to install the software.
1) Install the original Cyberon Voice Commander
http://rapidshare.com/files/247751443/CVC-SP-AME-Dopod-51215-BT.CAB
2) Extract all files in this cab and overwrite the files in your phone
http://rapidshare.com/files/247759639/CVC-SP-AME-Dopod-51215-BT.zip
After installing, just reboot the device. You can access the program by holding the left soft key.
Note - I tried to package everything into a single CAB using Win CE Cab manager but it did not work, I get an error message saying that the cab file is not digitally signed. Can anyone tell me what went wrong?
Enjoy
FAILED
it doesnt work on my dopod577w w/ wm6.1 neoshadow. i followed the instructions and replaced the files...still it dsnt wrk
Sorry I forgot to mention, this CAB will only work for SGregory WM6.5 ROM or any other device with the ID of TORN100
Try to use MobileRegistryEditor to edit your phone registry, did you see the ID of TORN100 there?
We can't make this CAB accessible to all smartphones as it will be tantamount to cracking. Currently we are just patching this CAB so that it works for Dopod 577w users who already have the license to this product.
Also, this software can only be installed to main memory currently which consumes precious storage space. I have tried moving the entire folder to storage card, the software still works. But it can no longer be accessible via the long hold of left soft key.
Someone needs to look into the CAB to fix this. Meanwhile, one can consider using AE Button Plus to configure just that.
I packed all files in cab. Now install cab in device, and use it
Please, test
Can it be installed into storage card?
Will try it later
will this now work for wm6.1 or is this still for SGregory WM6.5 ROM only?
On any device with the device id of TORN100
Hi. Is it possible to take a program off of one Windows Mobile phone and set it up to work on another? What I want to do is take the latest version of Oz Messenger on my Dash 3g, and put it on a Dash I have running WinMo 6.5. I can't get any of the other Oz Messenger cab files that are on here to work. They work, but they give me a connection error. So I want to get the newest version and try it. Thanks for any help. I've been looking through these forums and others for about 12 hours now, so please don't assume I haven't.
depend on the program in some cases it's enough to copy the exe file
others the install dir
yet others require registry changes and various dlls from \windows and ...
