Help Pairing Treo with Mac after WM6 - Palm Treo 750

Hi all, first post. I LOVE WM6 but can no longer get my Mac to pair with my ATT 750 via bluetooth to be used as a modem. The bluetooth pairing itself is successful, but when I try to dial up as a modem, all I get from my mac is "no line detected".
Does anyone have similar issues or suggestions...?
TIA!
ATT Treo 750 Locked
WM6
Limited 3rd party software
MacBook running osx

Figured it out.
The connection needs to happen from the Treo not the Mac as it did before with WM5.
1. Pair the mac with the Treo as you normally would.
2. On the Treo, under Programs, Internet Sharing, PC Connection, select Bluetooth PAN.
3. Under Network Connection, select AT& T and choose Connect.
On the Mac, click on the Bluetooth Icon and choose Join Network on......(your Treo name should be there).
Start surfing.
I was getting download speeds @ 530kps with the "H" clearly visible on the Treo.
My only question now for you Shamans of Cyberspace is this; will AT&T now know I'm using my Treo as a modem and want the $$ per month?

Bluetooth PAN?

Lo, just got my treo 750 and can use activesync to get a bluetooth internet connection, but I've a bluetooth access point in the office, and when I try to connect to it its seems to pair, but doesn't show as offering any services.
I've (slowly) figured out that the Treo's BT doesn't appear to support PAN, is there any way to add it?
I think that this comes with the AKU3 firmware update.

T-Mobile Dash Bluetooth Modem Mac

When I try to connect my Dash to my Mac it connects fine but there is something missing. In order to use my Dash as a modem for my Mac I need to pair them and so on. In the bluetooth set up, after I pair the two, I get to select which services I want my computer to use on my phone. The only service that shows on my computer is "address book" There should also be an option to "Access the Internet with your phone’s data connection" but it's not there. This is why I can't use my phone as a bluetooth modem. Why is this not showing up in the bluetooth set up? Is my phone not telling my Mac that it can be used as a bluetooth modem? My internet sharing settings and so on are activated and correct on my phone. Is it just my compter?

The Dash has AKU3, which means it lacks BT DUN and only has BT PAN. This is why you don't see DUN, unlike with pre-AKU3 devices.
I'll publish a big article on all these questions in a few hours, where I explain all these questions in detail. Stay tuned!

Is there a way to get a Tmobile dash paired with a G4 Mac Powerbook?
I want to access the internet on my powerbook via my Dash.
I see in your reply above you were going to write an article on this. I've not found out how to get this to work.
thanks for any help
John
I see the problem... basically Mac OS X doesn't support Bluetooth Personal Area Networks (PANs). Bluetooth Modems normally use DUN (which is what HTC devices used prior to AKU2... and was hacked to route into WModem).
With AKU3, MS standardized this. They went with PAN instead of DUN because PAN allows for IPNAT... enabling the device and the laptop to be online at the same time.
But, of course, Macs don't even see the PAN profile... meaning we're SOL right now.
P.S... testing this on my Blue Angel with AKU 3.5... same problem here.

Let's all hope the Widcomm BT hack will some day also have DUN support, even under AKU3+. See the Hermes / Wizard forums for more info on the hack.
DUN / PAN Problems with OSX
I know OSX doesn't support PAN, but check this site out --> http://mobilitytoday.com/news/007194/blackjack_mac_connection
It's a write up on how to get the Samsung BlackJack working with OSX, BlackJack I believe also use PAN.
I tried it, but wasn't able to get it to work. I have to leave the office right now, so maybe someone else might have better luck than I do.

working with p3600
It seems working with a P3600 using the new network sharing feature with the USB Cable! The mac sees a ethernet port (with ip already asigned by p3600)under systempreferences>network.
I donnu if its because i have missing sync (demo) installed that that connection just comes up...
cheers..
Update: Working on MBP CoreDuo...
I've got the dash, and I set it and my macbook pro to be discoverable, went thru the wizard on the mac side which found no usable services, then enabled the "internet sharing" app on my dash, and immediately selected the "join network with tmobile43" option on the bluetooth menu on my mac, and volia! i'm typing this to you via this connection.
Solid! Now if only bluetooth charged the battery
tmobile dash bluetooth modem problem
Ok this is wat i have to say i have a macbook and when i go to bluetooth setting it says in can use the kind of network interface that ur powerbook doesnt support and the reason ur powerbook doesnt support it is either u need to upgrade ur airport card or mabye upgrade to leopard like i did or do both because im running my macbook with the 802.11n wireless and bluetooth card and with 10.5 so that might be a solution to ur problem and i also know that u should upgrade to a macbook or a macbook pro if u want excelent peformance or heavily upgrade ur powerbook g4 and anyway wat are the specs on ur powerbook??
(macbook white 2.0 ghz 80gb hd and 2 gigs of ram)
sorry i put in powerbook for some reason i meant to say wat mac do u have
It seems to me that OS X (Leopard at least) wants to use the Network Access Point Bluetooth profile with Bluetooth PAN. I got it working with WM6.1 but I had to change Bluetooth PAN from PANU to NAT.
See ]Fixing 0803xx Bluetooth PAN on OS X 10.5.

Using Palm Treo 750v as UMTS Modem for Mac

Hi there,
has anybody of you experience with using a Palm Treo 750v as UMTS Modem for a Mac (PowerPC, Max OS 10.4.x -> newest OS)? Does it work? Do I need additional software?
Thanks a lot,
best
Helge

I've been working on this for a bit and it seems that the Modem scripts that I was using to connect via DUN on the Palm OS version (680, BT, Cingular, UMTS) is not working on the same carrier and over BT and on the same network. The only thing I can think of is that WinMo needs a special type of modem script on the Mac side in order for it to connect.
I keep receiving Modem errors. I can establish a connection, but somewhere around sending PPP packets and authentication the connection dies.
Try this
Ross Barkham sent me this and it works well.
Unzip the file, dump the contents into your modem scrips directory:
Macintosh HD > Library > Modem Scripts.
Then pair the 750v and mac. Follow the options, when you get to choosing the modem for internet dialling, choose the file you've just dumped into Modem Scripts and then complete the setup wizard.
Works perfectly for me.

use mine as a modem all the time with the ipaq scripts which from experience have worked with all winmo devices.

And you, kind sir, have just become my Santa for this christmas season. Works like a charm!
The generic 3G modem scripts weren't working on winmobile, but the Treo 3G CID1 script you attached worked perfectly. I now get a consistent 241Kbps down so I assume that i'm only hitting UMTS and not HSDPA.
having a nightmare with this.
I'm using a ibook OSX 10.4, I just got my new Palm Treo 750v, Vodafone have given me settings for connection on my mac and I have installed the treo modem script above, but I just can't get the laptop to connect through the phone it's says, "no carrier detected, check phone line connection"
my vodafone connection settings are :-
phone number - vodafone
account - web
password - web
any ideas ??
Can someone please another link to the file?
When I tried to download the file all I got was "attachment.php".
TIA
Can someone please POST another link to the file?..sorry about that
Try right clicking and then downloading the linked file to your desktop. That worked for me.
Tried that already...

hi i have been trying to setup my treo 750 as a modem but after pairing, my mac doesn't detect any modem services on my treo. is there something wrong here?
i've been thinking it could be connected to the fact that i tried cleaning up the notification queue on my treo. that stopped activesync from functioning and i'm wondering if this issue may be connected.
I down loaded the treo 3g CIDI file and i can't unzip it. I need help to ID an aplication to unzip, I have a treo 750 and a MacBook pro. TY

WM6 SDA and BT DUN hack

I have a T-Mobile SDA running the WM6 Perfect English ROM and I can't get the BT DUN hack to work. I installed the .cab file for the BT DUN hack and soft reset. When I pair it with my other cell phone (VZW Nokia 6315i), I don't have an option for the Dial Up Networking service. I was able to BT DUN with my old Blue Angel (VZW XV6600) and with my laptop on the 6315i.
Anybody able to get the hack to work on their SDA? If so, any suggestions on what I'm missing.
Thanks

Did you first SDA Application Unlock your phone? Make sure the devices are paired! The options or bluetooth dialup setup should be on the PDA or laptop, but see if you have a dialup option on the SDA, if not still it should work. Another thing make sure you install the bluetooth Dun.cab from my thread at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=340762 ..............!
My SDA is application unlocked. Unlocked it before I did the WM6 ROM upgrade. I had the BT dun hack .cab already installed. I uninstalled it and installed yours instead. Same thing is happening. No services are listed after pairing.
I paired the SDA with my laptop and the laptop is giving me the option for DUN as listed services. Essentially, I want my SDA to BT DUN with my 6315i. Is this even possible?
No Way!

The Two cell phones will not pair via bluetooth Dun Dial-up, but you should be able to pair each cell phone to your laptop via bluetooth Dun dial-up. The phones act as the connection modem, the bluetooth Dun dial-up connection setup options will always be on the device (laptop, PDA,ect) that you are trying to connect to the Internet. The phones do not have this option, because they will act as the modem!
That's unfortunate. My Blue Angel was able to BT DUN with my 6315i. You are saying this was only possible because the Blue Angel was a PDA phone. The BA did not originally have the DUN profile but a hack was devised from a PDA. Is there such a device like a smartphone without the phone hardware where a hack for the SDA can be devised?
Thanks for all the help and info.

palm treo 750

can any body help?
I have a palm treo 750 on Orange network with gprs/3g.
I would like to use the treo as a mobile modem for my laptop - is this possible and if so can I use the gprs and 3g capabilities that my phone has.
Ideally with bluetooth if possible.
Simple instructions would be appreciated.
Many thanks
If you upgrade to Windows Mobile 6, you'll have the program "Internet Connection Sharing" in your programs list, which you can use it for the purpose you've described.
