palm treo 750 - Palm Treo 750

can any body help?
I have a palm treo 750 on Orange network with gprs/3g.
I would like to use the treo as a mobile modem for my laptop - is this possible and if so can I use the gprs and 3g capabilities that my phone has.
Ideally with bluetooth if possible.
Simple instructions would be appreciated.
Many thanks

If you upgrade to Windows Mobile 6, you'll have the program "Internet Connection Sharing" in your programs list, which you can use it for the purpose you've described.

Help Pairing Treo with Mac after WM6

Hi all, first post. I LOVE WM6 but can no longer get my Mac to pair with my ATT 750 via bluetooth to be used as a modem. The bluetooth pairing itself is successful, but when I try to dial up as a modem, all I get from my mac is "no line detected".
Does anyone have similar issues or suggestions...?
TIA!
ATT Treo 750 Locked
WM6
Limited 3rd party software
MacBook running osx
Figured it out.
The connection needs to happen from the Treo not the Mac as it did before with WM5.
1. Pair the mac with the Treo as you normally would.
2. On the Treo, under Programs, Internet Sharing, PC Connection, select Bluetooth PAN.
3. Under Network Connection, select AT& T and choose Connect.
On the Mac, click on the Bluetooth Icon and choose Join Network on......(your Treo name should be there).
Start surfing.
I was getting download speeds @ 530kps with the "H" clearly visible on the Treo.
My only question now for you Shamans of Cyberspace is this; will AT&T now know I'm using my Treo as a modem and want the $$ per month?

750v modem initialisation string bluetooth

In order to use the treo 750v as a 3G/UMTS modem for a laptop using the bluetooth link between the laptop and the treo, I believe that a modem initialisation string has to be added in the configuration on the laptop so as to use the modem under 3G/UMTS speeds as opposed to a GSM speed. I have seen some such initialisation strings but do not know whether these are valid for 3G/UMTS. Does anyone have the valid string?

You don' t have to enter a string in the modem settings. With WM6 just select on the Treo the GPRS APN in Start >> Programs >>> Internetsharing:
PC-Connection: Bluetooth
Network connection: your profile defined in settings >>> connection >>> connections
If you want to use a string in the modem settings on your laptop, enter
at+cgdcont=1,"IP","xxx"
(xxx is the APN of your mobile operator
thank you for your information
When the connection is established (which I have done using the string you gave me) is there any indication on the Treo 750 that one is in UMTS/3G? I have established the connection but nothing changes on the Treo 750's display, which usually, when one connects in UMTS/3G , (for instance when the Internet Explorer is launched) usually shows the little "G" and reverse arrows as having set up a UMTS/3G or GPRS connection. (I have used your string as I don't have WM6 yet - I understand that the WM6 has been launched in Australia but not yet for unlocked Treo 750's and that the modified ROM for such an unlocked Treo is not yet available, so I can not use the WM6 method, still having WM5 on my Treo). In other words, does one have any sign that the string you supplied has effectively set up the link from the Treo to the provider ("Orange" in my case) in UMTS/3G or GPRS and that one is not still in GSM
This string is only useable for GPRS/UMTS.
Whether you connect via GSM or GPRS/EDGE/UMTS is triggered by two things:
First what is configured on the Treo in settings >> connections. There must be a cellular line (GPRS,3G) connection with the Orange APN.
Second what is configured in the dial up connection on your laptop.
There must be a dial up number like *99# or *99***1#
When you use these two settings you are always connected via GPRS (or EDGE if Orange supports that) or UMTS.

Wierless Network

Can any one tell me if i can access a wireless network with my palm treo 750v and use the internet like i can do with Nokia n82 ???
P.S. I just upgraded to WM6

Are there any WM applications analogous to Psiloc Connect

Hi,
I have an HTC Fuze. Could someone recommend a WM application that has the same functionality as Psiloc Connect?
Psiloc Connect (from what I understand) manages your connections and automatically switches you between 3G/WiFi/GPRS etc based on the best type of available network.
Thanks,
Kurt
