Hi I'm new to the forum I have a Cingular 8125 IPL/SPL 2.25.0001 which I believe is a G4 device trying to get to WM6. Ok I'm trying to follow the steps for Flashing for noobs on the guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298613&highlight=How+to+upgrade+8125+WM6
I get to step "G4.3 Download wizard_love rom and flash it to your device. Your device should startup again after doing this. Go to G4.4." So I downloaded the RUU and when I run it its not in English. What am I doing wrong? I want to upgrade to WM6 but I don't want to brick the phone of course.

First, you are asking a G4 specific (sort of) question in the Wm6 forum. You'd probably get more response if this was posted in teh G4 forum here...
I think the RUU that was around at the time that worked for G4's when they created Wizard Love was an Italian RUU. The rom itself will be WWE, its jsut the installer that is in Italian.
If you go to the Wizard G4 forum, there are posts there for RUU's that are in English that work for the G4. You can then take the nk.nbf file out of the Wizard Love, and put it into the English RUU you get from the G4 forum.

in the italian version just remember that "AVANTI" means next. If you cant get that to work just download the updated english version in my signature.

I don't mind this being WWE instead than Spanish, but I got several problems:
Hang during install after first reboot. (after every Hard Reset)
Not all programs installed.
Not all installed programs running.
Some other minor glitches.
I moved from 2.15 ESP Rom (Vodafone) wich I was unable to extract.
Does anyone knows were to find my "old" rom?
I downloaded 2.13 from imateclub but refuses to install: "this nbf file is not for your device, get a newer one".

First, is your CID unlock?
Second, your device have a G4 chip, so you can not be able to install an older version, I mean, If you have a 2.15.0001 you can not be able to install a Rom for a Sapnish Qtek 2.09.0000 or like JAMin by i-mate 2.13.0000.
About where you can find your original rom, I invite you to find it on XDA-Wiki, after you log in under your nick or make a Dump Rom from other device like yours.

I'm unsure if this is CID unlocked, it is SIM unlocked now, will check for the CID issue. Though I assume that being able to install other 2.15 rom (dopòd) means it is already CID unlocked too....¿?
I was afraid the "downgrading" has to be done in the same version range. (2.15)

The wiki site is a real mess actually, with no trace of usefull info specific for the prophet. (Sorry to say) Just a couple of ROM's some not working.
No one with a 2.15 ESN rom to share?

I am not a really experienced user in ROM upgrading, IPLs, SPLs, and the works. I have read a LOT about these subjects and i still don't understand a few things. Nevertheless i tried.
I own a G4 CID-Locked Prophet (QTEK S200) as described in the title and i tried upgrading to WM6 "just to see" what the hell would it do.
Before trying this WM6 upgrade i tried yet another thing which is kinda risky and actually turned this same S200 into a brick temporarily. I used the known shelltool_bugfixed application to upgrade to AKU 3.3.13 (extract OS from a complete ROM, then replace the OS file with the AKU 3.3.13 one) and it worked. I tried doing the same with clean1 V2 ROM and it bricked it.
I reflashed the Prophet with an original ROM using the novendor-id RUU, thinking it would never bring it to life, but it did. Also upgraded my SPL to 2.13.0001.
Then i tried upgading to clean1 V2 WM6 rom again (Jesus, stubborn guy) just by simply decompressing the files and running "UPGRADE_ROM.BAT". And it worked.
I was REALLY surprised because i read over and over again about this and i had the idea WM6 needed some special IPL and/or SPL and that my device had to be CID-Unlocked before the upgrade.
These are just a few events of yesterday and today with my Prophet which i wanted to share with you. I still find it unbelievable but here i am, running WM6 and happy as hell with it. WM6 really looks awesome and works a treat

If you dont write IPL/SPL without the right CID, you cant use all WM6 Firmwares ;-)

I wish i could understand that, it would help me figure out what i can use on my CID-Locked Prophet and what i can't... before i brick it for good
As i said above, when i "brought it back to life" with an original JamIN rom, it upgraded the SPL to 2.13.0001 (it was 2.10.0001 previously).

Don't know what your are talking about but all wm6 in this forum gave me no problems when i flashed them. Mine is CID locked G4 from ORANGE. So just try. There are lots of alternatives. All working more or less... Find the one better suits your prophet.
Read what i said in the first post. I know it's a bit confusing, but it says there i have successfully flashed my S200 with WM6 (smart1 V2 ROM).
I was just surprised because with all the spread information around WM6, i thought i needed to downgrade to some "special" IPL/SPL version or that i couldn't flash just because my G4 is CID-Locked.
After all, i can just flash about anything without bricking my S200. The only thing i think would brick it is if i downgraded (somehow) the IPL/SPL. Am i correct?

what I really confused about it, what is the relation between IPL&SPL and OS
as I understand, some OS need newer IPL & SPL

as I noticed, there isn't any relation between IPL/SPL and OS
and upgrading SPL doesn't take any profits

Faria's "The Real Thing" has everything you would want/need... Perfect if you don't want to have to add anything yourself...
On the other hand, Core2.0n is pretty stripped, but it's nice if you just need the basics and want to add your own progs...

Make sure you are CID unlocked prior to attempting to install a custom rom. See the stickies in the Upgrading, Etc. wizard forum.
There are several WM 6 roms available in these forums that will run on your wizard, but make sure you know and understand what you are doing before you start the flash process.
I have tried the faria (real thing) but at 99% stucks with error 302.
Then i try to build my own rom but when i am on the stage of selecting the os and put some addresses i am lost.
Can anyone help ?
My imate kjam is original and unlocked.
my ipl spl is 2.16
my gsm is 02.07.10
and my os is 2.16.9.1.

I am fairly new at rom upgrading so i started to follow the tutorial written by vippie. My ppc aint sim locked but i think it is cid locked so i downloaded button's 1.05 rom. When i want to upgrade the rom the programm gives me the following error message - Error 300 invalid update tool.

I think your Qtek is nog CID unlocked yet. But I'm not totally sure.

You got a G4 phone, so follow the G4 Tutorials. Its recognizable as 2.xx.xxxx on IPL and SPL. If you have a G3, it doesn't shows the 2.xx.xxxx but it'l show something like 2.xx.
So follow G4 tutors, i thought that if you wanted to flash, it'l need to be CID Unlocked and you should use Shell Tool ( its a tool to flash ).
Hi, I have a QTEK A9100 too. I flashed it many times with the RUU.
My suggestion (at least it worked for me)
a) if u r going from WM5 to a WM6 ROM (upgrade), use SHELLTOOL instead of RUU.
b) If u have problems flashing a ROM and want to go back (downgrade) use the RUU.

i believe i've just dug myself a grave. i've argeed to try repair my girlfriends' dad's wizard.
i am at work right now i have had a sms telling me that he "tried" to upgrade his wizard and now it is stuck in the tricolor boot section.
as i dont have a wizard and only a hermes. i would really appriciate it, if you bros, could tell me what i need to do to repair it.
did he forget to "super CID"?
again, i'd really appriciate it if you guys could point me to the right direction to repair this asap for him.

Get the latest official ROM (check the Wiki for the list), flash it. Use ShellTool to flash any WM6 ROM (CID unlock not required).

from what i gather in your reply, do i basically download any rom (E.g. XDA's Mobile) and flash it using ShellTool and all should be good?
by the way, where is ShellTool? i searched but could not find a thread on ShellTool.

Shelltool does not work via BootLoader, but from within Windows Mobile. Download the Appropiate Brand-ROM (T-Mobile/QTEK/Imate) and then upgrade.

The best advice is to follow this guide as it will step you through the process by pointing you to various roms and threads:

The key thing with a Wizard device is knowing if you have a G3 or G4. G3's are pretty forgiving, but a G4 can be bricked if you try to flash a rom with IPL/SPL that is not from the official rom for that particular phone. If you have the true official rom for that phone, then yes, just flash it and then you should have a working device again, then can follow the steps to CID Unlock it.
Oh, and last word of info... G4's cannot be CID unlocked with tools around here. You have to pay to have it CID Unlocked from IMEI Check. Or (as stated above) you can flash a different rom with Shell Tools (look in the G4 subforum of the Wizard area for info and usage on ShellTool).
