Folks,
I just ordered a HTC P3600 to replace my beloved Magician (Qtek S100).
Anyone knows if I can still use my Brodit Car Cradle with charger?
Would my Desktop cradle work also?
Both devices seem to be very similar in dimensions.
if the connector is the same
and the device fit then yes
i used my wallaby(xda1) cradle with my himalaya without any probs
Unfortunately the position of the usb connector differs.
If you got a passive brodit holder you can use it for both devices.
I bought a new brodit active holder for my HTC3600.

Do either of these mounts allow the XDA II to be inserted with the back pack fitted?
Thanks.
Brodit doesn't. Your device will only fit without the backpack.

Mark
Thanks. Anyone here know about the Carcomm?
Hi!
Try ARKON Universal PDA Mounts, here:-
http://www.arkon.com/pdamount.html
I'm using one of them to support my O2 XDA II with backpack. Note that I'm not mounting it in the car but using it on my desk to watch TV using my CF TV card.
Thanks for that. I am looking to use a powered mount. Both the Brodit and Carcomm have had good reviews but it looks like the Brodit is out. I just need confirmation of the Carcomm used with the back pack.
Just wanted to share my experience!
I bought, original HTC CU S170 Car Upgrade Kit for Touch Diamond. (see pic1)
Witch I love, it fits perfect, great design and build quality!
Then I desided to buy HTC Extended Battery with Cover BP E270 1340 mAh.
And I was curious if it's going to fit to the car holder. Becouse I knew it will thicken the phone aroun 3~4 mm. And it looked, like it could fit! I asked in one thread if maybe people tried it already, but no one replayed!
So, I got my extended baterry today, and I can tell you now, IT DOESN'T FIT!
So, I played around a bit with the solder and a knife. It kind of fits now, but bruzes the back cover a bit, if used a lot would scratch a lot. And the holder doesn't look that nice now (see pic2)
I am sure i mentioned this before in a thread that it doesnt fit and you need to buy the different head for the car kit for it to hold the HTC or any PDA.
what you need is: http://www.expansys.com/p.aspx?i=142067
Herbert Richter GRIPPER 3 Universal PDA/Smartphone Holder, works with the same Herbert Richter arm grip
Yep, like I said in my post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3561219&postcount=13 there are two specific holders for the 900 and 1340 mAh batteries.
You can go for the holder that I changed to:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=501678
This fits my 1800 battery so it shouldn't have problem with yours. Brodit holders are expensive though and you'll need to buy a HR/Brodit adapter plate if you still wish to make use of your windscreen stalk.

That's, what I'am going to get I hope it's going to fit my arm without any adapters
sh500 solution would work too, but this one is universal, so let's say if I get a diferent PPC, some tme in the future I could use the same car kit!
Well I'm totally against universal holders because more times than not they are big and bulkly - just my opinion of course. The HR universal will fit directly onto your existing windscreen stalk -without the adapter.
The adapter is this one :
http://www.gpsforless.co.uk/product_details.php?id=5771
It basically converts the Herbert Richter mounts ('four prongs') to accommodate the Brodit ('four hole') clips. You would only need this if you want to keep your existing windscreen mount and purchase the Brodit adapter that I have.
Okay, so it looks like the Brodit Pro-Clip is now available for the Nexus S (if you've used one of these before you'll know it's the ultimate car clip ):

One question though - does anyone know if the headphones socket (now on the bottom of the phone of course) is accessible when the phone is clipped in?
With my HTC Hero I like to use one of those cassette things that has a 3.5mm jack coming out of it. It allows music, sat nav and hands free calling all through my car speakers. Can I do the same with the Nexus S without taking a dremmel to the Pro-Clip?
You're not going to get an answer for a while mate, the mobilefun site says "coming soon". Neither the Brodit.se nor dsldevelopments (uk distributor) site lists a holder yet for the nexus s. Hopefuly they'll be available soon as I'll be buying the passive holder when it's out.
The nexus one did fit an iphone brodit holder, does anyone know if the nexus s fits any other mobile holder that brodit do ?
Hello,

I bought this car vent mount on eBay and I'm very satisfied with it:

Is that TomTom installed on that Desire HD on the mobilefun link.
I thought there is no TomTom available for android
Can someone please recommend a Car holder that fits with the OtterBox Commuter for the DHD ?
Thanks.
Clingo air vent holder is cool... I have one in each car!

If you are look for an active Car Holder. I bought this:
http://www.mugen-power-batteries.co...esire-hd-car-mount-cradle-with-handsfree.html
But i opend the Holder (with a screw driver) and removed the Audio Plug because I'm using Bluetooth Headset.
Now I'm happy with it.
Could anyone suggest an active car mount for Nexus, which is easy to install and which is available in the UK?

i have the haicom HI-254 car holder, works great and is cheap

I don't know that the above referenced holder is active, but the Proclip one is and it works great. I have the one that fits the phone with official bumper, and it exceeds all expectations, though is definitely pricey.
Oh, I got an email yesterday that gives 10% off:
"Enter AC Code: 05MOM13 at checkout. Valid NOW through midnight Sunday, May 12, 2013"
the haicom holder is not active indeed, just buy a cheap micro usb car charger
So what is the difference between passive and active car holder? Is it just that with an active holder you just do not need to manually insert a USB cable from the cigarette socket?
I actually thought that an active car mount activates "car mode" on the phone.
Regarding Haicom HI-254, I cannot see it is being sold anywhere in the UK.
