Could anyone suggest an active car mount for Nexus, which is easy to install and which is available in the UK?

i have the haicom HI-254 car holder, works great and is cheap

I don't know that the above referenced holder is active, but the Proclip one is and it works great. I have the one that fits the phone with official bumper, and it exceeds all expectations, though is definitely pricey.
Oh, I got an email yesterday that gives 10% off:
"Enter AC Code: 05MOM13 at checkout. Valid NOW through midnight Sunday, May 12, 2013"
the haicom holder is not active indeed, just buy a cheap micro usb car charger
So what is the difference between passive and active car holder? Is it just that with an active holder you just do not need to manually insert a USB cable from the cigarette socket?
I actually thought that an active car mount activates "car mode" on the phone.
Regarding Haicom HI-254, I cannot see it is being sold anywhere in the UK.

Okay, so it looks like the Brodit Pro-Clip is now available for the Nexus S (if you've used one of these before you'll know it's the ultimate car clip ):
http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/brodit-active-holder-with-tilt-swivel-google-nexus-s-p27174.htm
One question though - does anyone know if the headphones socket (now on the bottom of the phone of course) is accessible when the phone is clipped in?
With my HTC Hero I like to use one of those cassette things that has a 3.5mm jack coming out of it. It allows music, sat nav and hands free calling all through my car speakers. Can I do the same with the Nexus S without taking a dremmel to the Pro-Clip?
You're not going to get an answer for a while mate, the mobilefun site says "coming soon". Neither the Brodit.se nor dsldevelopments (uk distributor) site lists a holder yet for the nexus s. Hopefuly they'll be available soon as I'll be buying the passive holder when it's out.
The nexus one did fit an iphone brodit holder, does anyone know if the nexus s fits any other mobile holder that brodit do ?
I bought a Samsung Infuse OEM vehicle navigation dock a while back for my GSII Skyrocket and it work OK but the Skyrocket was always a little loose.
Today I put my Nexus 4 in it just to see if it fits and it does! It's a little tight but the phone snaps in and out with ease. Also the micro USB on the dock lines up perfectly with the dock. All you need is a Micro USB car charger and you are set! The dock also has a Mini jack for audio out but I haven't tested that yet. I would be shocked if that worked. I don't use it though because I stream audio to my car via bluetooth.
Here's a link to the dock so you know what it looks like, you can find it on ebay pretty easily.
Highly recommend it!
Tim

I'm going to start posting this image every time I see specific car holders.
Onc, for a lifetime buy.
Fits any phone. I've decided there is no point buying specific holder for a phone. If you change phone you need to change holder as well..

I'm using one for the S3 that I bought for the Optimus 4X and now I'm using it for the N4. Fits nearly perfect (a small gap at the sides, but thats not a problem)

If you want to use the headphone jack you have to take off that thing on the top, but it's only clipped so you can easily take it off.

I've been using an Arkon universal windshield mount with my NS for a long time and am getting a second (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16875999868) for my N4 (giving the Wife the NS), which is only 19 bucks w/ free shipping at Newegg. I've been extremely satisfied with it.
Mine has held up extremely well. It is easy to get the phone in and out; can swivel horizontal or vertical; has space for usb connector to car; holds tight, but doesn't leave a mark on the phone (totally firm and secure without being worrying at all); is universal so it will fit my next Nexus/Car; and has a nice flat surface to slap an NFC tag onto (turn Bluetooth on, switch to car mode). The only very minor issue (a non-issue really) I've had is that it has popped off of the windshield maybe 3 times in the past 2 years, but never with a phone in it or when I was driving; I'm pretty sure this is inevitable for window mounts. It only takes a few seconds to reattach and it is good to go.
Samsung's UNIVERSAL car dock works perfectly too.
http://www.expansys.co.za/samsung-galaxy-s-iii-original-vehicle-kit-car-charger-included-231981/
Its a neat-looking dock that'll work with any phone between 4" and 5.3" and with the microUSB port at the bottom.

Does this dock block the volume rocker?
I bought one of these from RAM, along with the extra clampy hardware from RAM to mount it.
It should be showing up today so we will see how well it works. They make good stuff, but it can be pricey.

Please keep us updated. I’m also looking for a universal car mount
I have been searching for a universal type car mount that can fit both my Nexus 7 (in a Seidio Active case without cover) and also fit the Nexus 4 with a case/bumper or whatever. The compromise is that the Nexus 4 cannot be charged while in this mount. The search goes on I guess, but I am quite happy with it at this point.
I have found the Xenomix mount from Korea. Seems like the only place I can find it was from ebay. It took a good 10 business days to air ship from Korea to me in Texas. Anyway, the mini review and pics are below.

Along with a non-fixed verison of the mount that plugs into the cigarette adaptor rather than the car electronics
It's here:

and if you search for the part number online, you get:

to my knowledge, they are not available for shipping...yet

They look good IMO, however I would prefer that I can stick these on my windscreen, it would seem that they have to clip into some holder & clip for your air vents or dash

Contact holders and mounts and they will fix it to a suction bracket for you, if you like
but its costly.

I am in desperate need for a Proclip holder for AT&T S4. It looks like the one for S3 will fit the S4 but i am not sure..
See here: http://www.proclipusa.com/phone-hol...d-cigarette-lighter-adapter-512398-18987.cmsv
Does anyone with a S3 pro-clip holder has any experience placing the S4 in it ? I have the S2 Pro-clip and an iPhone pro-clip on the other car and they are super quality devices.. Note I am looking after the one with the charger option.
Thanks.
+1 I, too, am a fan of the proclips. Has anyone got an answer to this? I don't think there's an S4 proclip available yet.
They emailed me this reply

It will work with the flip cover as long as you get the adjustable one, I was using with the cover closed, just don't put the right side in and you can still flip open but tight. And I also used it with the cover flipped behind, just had to adjust the holder to fit the leather flip on the left side and the phone on the right. I will post pictures after I go back to the case, using a slim armor for the time being, it fits good too.

I assume you meant the dock and not the dock holder?
Why do you keep buying all these docks?
I would recommend the Craigsdock dock. The one single dock will work with all Galaxy series phones, including Note II. So you just buy one dock and it fits them all. And you don't have to worry about whether you have an extended battery or cover. It still fits. And all in a slimmer/smaller package than the ProClip and with a better (IMO) charging solution.
I've had the ProClip dock. I like the Craigsdock dock better. And with the Craigsdock, you can change the type of USB connector easily. For non-carhome mode, for USB-OTG or for any other type of MicroUSB connector you may need. And it's an easy swapout.
Just a heads up.
Though the ProClip dock "holder/mounting base" is pretty nice.

I have the brodit active dock with usb connection. This model suits the phone with case .
Photo shows the s3 but works on s4 too.
Maybe you can use mhl via the usb I dont have mhl so I cant test.
Is the wire fixed in to the dock. My old iPhone one had a fixed jack in the dock and you plugged the iPhone into the cable into the fixed jack. I emailed Brodit about their g4 active dock because it comes with a molex connector block. I wanted to know what connections the block took but I don't think they understood me

Unless you can plug in the mhl adapter to the male end of the usb lead and from there into the charger via some sort of adapter.

That's why I'm looking at the one with the molex connector. It was so easy with the iPhone. You just plugged the iPhone cable into the bottom of the holder. I was kinda hoping it would be the same with the s4 one.

I think the difference is that there is somewhat of a standard with Apple dock/lightning cables, but it's a zoo with micro-USB male adapters. There's no standard shape for them to machine to. I suppose they could match the OEM cable, but most people only have one of those.
Hi,
With a Nexus 5 on the way, I am trying to find a Qi holder/charger for my car. The problem is that the only ones I find is either suction cup or air vent mounting. I allready have a mounting plate from Brodit in my car which my old holder was screwed on to. Have anyone found a Qi holder that uses screws?
Regards,
Thomas
I'd think twice about qi in car if you plan on sat naving as it will get mega hot

I might be better off with a holder from Brodit then, even if they are quite expensive in Norway.
Thanks!

Just do a search for the Nexus 5 wireless charger. It's a small square charger that says Nexus on it and it has magnets built in specifically designed for the metal discs that are inside of our phone. I already modified a few of my other qi Chargers so that they magnetically hold the phone and charge it in the car but with this new one out I've heard that it will stick to it vertically and won't fall off when driving. Check it out online. I've seen it for $50. I'm going to buy one really soon. And it will output I believe 1.2 amps like the stock ac adapter. So I would not worry about the phone heating up while driving unless you plan on driving for 3 hours straight. I had the Palm Pre touchstone for 3 years and had that working in my car the entire time and the Pre never got too hot and I doubt that our phone will. The only thing I've noticed is that if you don't align the Nexus 5 perfectly on the wireless charger that I got with the Nexus 4 or the LG charger that everybody has posted about on here, the phone will get a little hot. That's why when you get the one made specifically for the Nexus 5, it will align itself perfectly and you're charge will be sent through the magnetic field created perfectly.
