Just done a search and can't see any other threads, apologies if it was missed....

There is a thread about custom Active mount
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2213539
That brodit looks good but too expensive

There's this thread already
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2114985

Cheers.... Not going to lose any sleep about posting this then as the mentions of the Brodit active holders in those posts are well buried.
Sent from my Samsung Note II.

it's in the other car mount thread.
Along with a non-fixed verison of the mount that plugs into the cigarette adaptor rather than the car electronics
It's here:
http://www.brodit.com/product.html?id=512495
and if you search for the part number online, you get:
http://www.holdersandmounts.co.uk/b...ve-holder-cradle-with-car-charger-512495.html
to my knowledge, they are not available for shipping...yet

They look good IMO, however I would prefer that I can stick these on my windscreen, it would seem that they have to clip into some holder & clip for your air vents or dash

Contact holders and mounts and they will fix it to a suction bracket for you, if you like
but its costly.

Doesn't look like it will hold the phone if it's in any sort of case though.

Brodit Diamond/MDA C4 car holder with 1800 mAh battery [pictures]

I purchased a 1800 mAh battery as per thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=497159
But [knowingly] my Herbert Richter device specific holder would no longer fit because of the extra width of the battery.
So for information for others, I purchased the Brodit holder that gives the extra clearance at the back to accommodate my 1800 mAh battery. See pictures.
As I already had the HR vent clip (which I like), all I had to purchase was the Brodit holder itself and a 'Brodit/HR 4 prong adapter' that lets you interchange devices between the two manfacturers' mounts/holders.
nice, thanks for the pictures!
when using vent clips dont you run the risk of destroying the vent upon mount and dismount of the device?

Depends how well built (or not as the case may be) your vent is I guess. I've had vent clips on two Jaguars XJs, an Audi A6 and a Range Rover and after a good few years use, the vent still functioned correctly after removing the clip. For me they have be very secure and stable, even on fairly rough terrain.
I just dont like things sticking out from the windscreen; spoils the look of the vehicle interior in my opinion.
You can also get custom mounts (car specific) from Brodit, these are ok too but you'd have to get a new one if you changed your vehicle.

Original HTC car kit & original extendet battery.

Just wanted to share my experience!
I bought, original HTC CU S170 Car Upgrade Kit for Touch Diamond. (see pic1)
Witch I love, it fits perfect, great design and build quality!
Then I desided to buy HTC Extended Battery with Cover BP E270 1340 mAh.
And I was curious if it's going to fit to the car holder. Becouse I knew it will thicken the phone aroun 3~4 mm. And it looked, like it could fit! I asked in one thread if maybe people tried it already, but no one replayed!
So, I got my extended baterry today, and I can tell you now, IT DOESN'T FIT!
So, I played around a bit with the solder and a knife. It kind of fits now, but bruzes the back cover a bit, if used a lot would scratch a lot. And the holder doesn't look that nice now (see pic2)
I am sure i mentioned this before in a thread that it doesnt fit and you need to buy the different head for the car kit for it to hold the HTC or any PDA.
what you need is: http://www.expansys.com/p.aspx?i=142067
Herbert Richter GRIPPER 3 Universal PDA/Smartphone Holder, works with the same Herbert Richter arm grip
Yep, like I said in my post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3561219&postcount=13 there are two specific holders for the 900 and 1340 mAh batteries.
You can go for the holder that I changed to:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=501678
This fits my 1800 battery so it shouldn't have problem with yours. Brodit holders are expensive though and you'll need to buy a HR/Brodit adapter plate if you still wish to make use of your windscreen stalk.

That's, what I'am going to get I hope it's going to fit my arm without any adapters
sh500 solution would work too, but this one is universal, so let's say if I get a diferent PPC, some tme in the future I could use the same car kit!
Well I'm totally against universal holders because more times than not they are big and bulkly - just my opinion of course. The HR universal will fit directly onto your existing windscreen stalk -without the adapter.
The adapter is this one :
http://www.gpsforless.co.uk/product_details.php?id=5771
It basically converts the Herbert Richter mounts ('four prongs') to accommodate the Brodit ('four hole') clips. You would only need this if you want to keep your existing windscreen mount and purchase the Brodit adapter that I have.

Is that TomTom installed on that Desire HD on the mobilefun link.
I thought there is no TomTom available for android
Can someone please recommend a Car holder that fits with the OtterBox Commuter for the DHD ?
Thanks.
Clingo air vent holder is cool... I have one in each car!

You have a lot of links, but IMO you are missing the the link to the best which is DSL Developments | Brodit ProClip

If you are look for an active Car Holder. I bought this:
http://www.mugen-power-batteries.co...esire-hd-car-mount-cradle-with-handsfree.html
But i opend the Holder (with a screw driver) and removed the Audio Plug because I'm using Bluetooth Headset.
Now I'm happy with it.

Great universal car mount - iOttie One Touch

I highly recommend this great universal car mount. It may be the best one on the market.
http://www.amazon.com/iOttie-Windshield-INCREDIBLE-BlackBerry-Revolution/dp/B007FHX9OK
Pros:
- The suction cap is very strong on smooth and on grooved surfaces.
- Adjustability in every direction.
- Tightening joints.
- Levers for one hand phone release and a quick button to grab it.
- Adjustment for phone height.
Cons:
- It vibrates a little when the car is running but not enough to bother me
- No wireless charging. Plugging cables is not that much fun but maybe I can DIY something later.
I use an iottie flex 2 really good. I don't put it on the dash though only on the windshield.
For a generic, it looks over priced to me.

True. The price hovers around $20.
To me it's worth paying the money for a good car mount, you guys can decide for yourselves.
Although the stand itself could be replicated for a fraction of the price I doubt
generic mounts use the same quality suction cap. The dash on my car where i have it is curved
and the surface itself is grooved. The suction cap is not made out of rubber and is very hard
to pull out even when the latch is up.
This thing works great. It has enough space to fit the Nexus 4 with a bumper. I also mounted a NFC sticker behind it to automatically open maps and start bluetooth. Works flawlessly. One complaint, the suction cup is too sticky. I have to pull really hard to get the gel cup to release from my dashboard.
Another vote for the iottie Have one in my car and it's perfect! As others have noted, the suction cup is STRONG! Which is a good thing....
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda premium
seems a bit overpriced =)
The iOttie carries a premium in price because of its patented suction cup.
I've had my eye on them for a while, and supposedly the suction cup can work on your dash, even if it has ridges/grooves/isn't perfectly straight.

I use the same case and fits fine. But I use the iottie flex 2 mount. Just get that it holds the phone firm even without the third bracket for support.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
I'm going to buy this! I have LG OEM bumper too.
P.S: I was thinking that....When i leaved my Nexus 4 under the sun, it heats a lot (even much more than when you play a game).
And that won't be good for the battery.
What's your trick inside the car?
Hey guys for those wondering,
amazon overprices this car mount like crazy for some reason. From their website you can it sells for 20 bucks. Being a canadian you can eve get it for 18 bucks from 123inkcartridges (weird huh). But yeah got mine, its fantastic.

By now, you can add Brodit passive holder: http://brodit.se/product.html?id=511597&pn=prod&brand=Sony&model=Xperia Z1 Compact
In soon you can even by the actvie holder with magnetic charging (see the solution for the Z1). I wrote en email to Brodit and asked for it for the compact, and they wrote quickly back, that it will be available in a few weeks.
The Luxa2 H5 will hold the Z1c even with cover - I've been using the H5 for Xperia arc and S in the past and was quite happy with it.
Even though being on the pricey end I found the H5 well worth the money.
Available at amazon and elsewhere.
I have now ordered the brodit active holder with cig plug:

I have my Z1C on order and should have in next couple of days. Please post back what youthink of the active holder as I think this is a much better solution than using the MicroUSB for charging.
You can use a simple holder with magnetic charger. I'll try this cheaper solution.
how good a grip does the active brodit mount have ? Will it stay on if I mounted it on my motorcycle?

I got mine today (but I have in my car) and it most certaily will hold. There is no way it will slip out - unless you are up for very rocky offroad driving..
It is very well fitted.

i have found this one
http://www.amazon.de/Gripper-Smartphone-passend-SmartPhones-Fahrzeuge/dp/B006DDODY2
but it hasn't magnetic charger.
I would like a holder like this one
http://www.amazon.de/Patuoxun%C2%AE-Magnetisch-Ladeger%C3%A4te-Ladestation-Dockingstation/dp/B00GKFT6WC/ref=sr_1_1?s=ce-de&ie=UTF8&qid=1394883638&sr=1-1&keywords=sony+z1+magnetic
but for car use
Hi,
I'm looking for some air vent mounted holder where the phone can fit in with the TPU case and it is possible to apply the magnetic charging cable.
Has anyone tried one of these from Amazon? :
"Car vent mount for Sony Xperia Z1 Compact + charger - Mobile phone fits into mount with case or cover!" (sold by KW-Commerce)
and
"iTALKonline CUSTOM Dedicated Spring Mount Clip Air Vent Holder (Case Compatible) Cradle for Sony Xperia Z1 Compact D5503"
If you use magnetic charger the best choice is Nokia CR-122: absolutely perfect fit with Z1 compact (fits also with hard case)
