Newbie needs your help in choosing a phone

hello,
first of all let me thank you for a brilliant forum. I was looking for a forum with loads of information on pocket pc phones and i guess i found you guys.
Okay I'm a total newbie and I need help with choosing between three phones and i'm extremely confused as to what i should choose.
I'm with orange and they are offering me:-
1. NOKIA N95 (Not the black edition, but does come with 8gb) - Has all the features, but i've heard these are very buggy and slow
2. TYTN II - Has all the features that i need, except the keypad is eithier virtual or i have to pull out the keyboard to make calls, which is a NO NO
3. TOUCH DUAL - Now this phone is the dream i was wishing for..i.e there is a keypad which exists, allowing me to quickly make calls, but then it has NO GPS and NO WI-FI .
My problem is that all phones have their advantages and disadvantages and therefore make it difficult for me to choose. Here is what i'm looking for:-
1. The phone must have a hard keypad (Not a keyboard or virtual keypad) to make immediate calls.
2. GPS is not immediately needed, but i hope that i can add it in the near future
3. WI-FI again is not urgently needed, but i hope that it can be added later in future
4. The phone software must be very adaptable software wise
5. Must be unlockable to all networks
6. Needs to have a decent battery life
I especially want to know about the Touch Dual..can this give me what i need?
Your help is much appreciated
i would check out the asus ones recall them at least having the keypad
Touch Dual
Its worth the sacrifice (WiFI, GPS and Battery).
I do not even use my Kaiser anymore.

Which ones are the asus ones? Never heard of them.
The other problem is that i can only stay with orange network as they are offering me a good tariff for cheap price:-
1400 xnet minutes
unlimited landline calls
unlimited calls to 4 chosen family/friend numbers
They only have given me the choices that i mentioned earlier and i don't think they do an asus.
how about a HTC vox. Wifi is there with a decent battery life (provided you need wifi occasionally, which seems to be the case). But remember there is no inbuilt GPS. The phone is fast after I have upgraded to Dr Martin Gonzo's windows 6.1 rom. In fact wifi and issues with qualcomm processor in touch were the main reason that I opted for the vox. I am pretty satisfied with the phone.
thanks for replying gogiasiddhartha, but i think you guys have misunderstood what i was trying to say.
I can only choose a phone from www.orange.co.uk and they do have a limited range.
Would someone be kind enough and have a quick glance at what they are offering pls and let me know.
thanks very much again.
Out of the three mentioned in the link provided HTC TyTn II wins hands down.
Hopefully with a rom upgrade and soon to be released drivers from HTC, the phone would become as good a device as it was expected to be. Cost would be a prime consideration though.
U should check out the Asus P750. Mine P525 doesn't have GPS but still work great (even compare w/ my latest toy ATT Tilt/Tytn II except no 3G and GPS)

Fuze Owners: OK, who's jumping ship?

It's coming up on 30 days so if you're going to return it the time is now. I like the Fuze a lot, but after the Tilt I realize how important battery life is. I can't take another year of 12 hours of battery life until the next HTC device with a weak battery.
I might have to get the HP 910 Business Messenger. It has comparable features and size but has a 1940 mAh battery. What other sub-$500 alternatives to the Fuze are there? If the early reviews on the HP phone are positive, I'm gone.
Here's an idea... wait a month, get an extended battery... or carry a spare in your pocket. Is there anything else about the phone you don't like?

just the horrid battery and laggy gps and voice command issues and windows live with messenger not working properly even though windows live without messenger works perfectly and the cramped keyboard (that one isn't a big deal).
with these and other issues cited by XDA foks, HTC would have to release an updated ROM to fix all or most of them. and we can't count on them doing that.
so if i wait a month, no refund. an extended battery might do the trick, but they make the phone a brick and the smaller extended doesn't add much juice. and i don't even know if a cooked ROM would help significanty.

Then try it now before your 30 days is up and see if it helps. If not, then return it. If it helps, then you have the best phone possible right now. Dont return it until you explore all of your options.
Believe me, a cooked ROM makes a world a difference. it is like using a whole different phone. The screen is very responsive and everything loads much faster. While I agree the battery life is not great and the annoying design flaw with the molding chipping off, other than that I have no complaints.
i had a dutty rom on my tilt so i know they're great. i just don't know if the available ROMs solve the issues i listed (gps, voice command, windows live with messenger and others). but you're right. it won't hurt to try one.
now a politically incorrect question: which raphael chef is the closest to dutty in terms of ROM brilliance? i define brilliance as not just stripping a rom down (which, of course, is essential), but solving problems inherent to the device while adding a good deal of functionality.
Not trying to toot my own horn, but my ROM addresses the GPS and voice command issues irt the speaker (bluetooth vc is borked for the moment). I'm not sure what the issue is with windows live w/messenger, but the cab works fine when I install it (although it runs dog slow on the today screen)

Have to agree here, if you want a non-manila version, Da_G's is one of the best available for fuze owners. Its very quick and responsive. If you want to keep manila, ROMeOS is a great choice. You should also try different radios to get better battery life as well.
I am definetely not jumping ship. There is not a better phone out there currently and most if not all of my friends with other phones also have battery life issues. it is what it is with these mini computers if you are a real "power user". You either keep it plugged in when you are using your desktop and in your office, or plug it in whenever in the car, or get a spare battery. All of those options are not that bad to be honest, but nothing else compares to the phone in general. I have added just about everything I can to my fuze without changing rom or radio and I think it is an incredible phone that just keeps getting better with each day I find a new tweak or program to play with.
You can read my full review of my fuze on my blog at http://www.politicaldisgust.com/2008/12/05/att-htc-fuze-review/
For work I have had all the different Blackberry phones since the day they were released and with the type of usage I have they ALL ran out of battery during the day and had to be charged as mentioned above. Sure it was a little better then the fuze battery BUT the blackberry is 1/2 the phone/computer.
Check out my review. I am not jumping ship. It will only get better and better with new programs, cooked roms/radios, new cases released, etc.

you are probably right. even the reviews of this HP phone i mentioned are mixed and say it's battery might not be that great.
I would definitely ditch the stock rom, also I heard security unlocking your phone greatly increases battery life, correct me if I'm wrong.
I wont be anytime soon. Like others said cooked rom's help as well as testing other radio's to see which one give the best battery life. I highly suggest getting your fuze security unlocked so you can test other radios. So far I'm loving this phone. At first I wasn't sure b/c the tilt was very good to me, but now I'm positive I won't be taking it back.
It'll only get better from here.
Cooked ROMs always break something though, and regardless you can't fix poor hardware design with a new ROM. To those who say they have the best phone out now, guess they haven't tried the Xperia yet.
You make a very good point..
/me muddles over to play with the xperia drivers
My brother has the hp 910. I liked it at first, I used to have 6515 and loved it. Since that phone I've been hooked on windows mobile. I liked the 910 but always wanted a bigger screen. Funny thing is this screen isn't bigger. However when I look at my brothers 910 i think 2 things:
DAmn this thing is super pixelated
and
I never realized how wide it was.
However I think HP does a way better job than HTC. I never had so many problems with my 6515, as I do with this phone. But, I can't go back once I had a taste of this vga sexy goodness.

when is that supposed to be released? I'm definitely going to get one.
btw.. im squeezing more battery life out of my fuze with NATF's cooked ROM. I've had it on for about 14 hours and its only at 75% with moderate usage... I did turn off HSDPA because i thought 3G would get me a little better battery life

if you want battery life, go with blackjack II or maybe even epix. Of all the phone's I've used, motorola probably lasts forever. U can always wait for their android phone~ HP is HUGE (have you seen it in person?)
I'm not having too much battery life problem running RomeOs. I hear NATF's really good too (i'm waiting for him to stabilize his ROM for GOOD b4 switching, i'm new to the flashing world so I'd rather wait until all the kinks are fixed). are you on 3G the whole time? No phone lasts long when they're on the 3G network constantly. maybe try disconnecting it after X seconds of inactivity?
I'm also planning to get a spare battery so i can make full use of the media functionality (ie. music over bluetooth, video, browsing...etc). Replaceable battery was one of the deciding factors for me when I was hunting for a new phone.
and...um...not sure if anyone's felt the same way, the topic for this thread's a bit belittling. I understand you're not satisfied with your handset, but there's really no need to make all the other fuze users who aren't jumping ship seem like idiots who cling onto their phone even tho it's "defective". (that's was the first thought that came to my mind before I actually read your post and understood ur dilemma). sorry about the vent, just had to get it out

lol...i'm definitely not attacking other fuze owners. just wondering how seriously people think the phone's flaws are. i'm going to try a cooked ROM and see how that goes.
Had to put my .02 in. Yes, I am jumping ship...from the iPhone to the Fuze. As an oldtime smartphone addict, I've tried a bunch of em over the years (yep, paid 599 for the original iPhone, but at least I didn't stand in line for it). Didn't upgrade to the 3G, cause they didn't add in the no-brainer stuff that everyone has talked about (and didn't want to give up my $20 data plan for a minimal upgrade). I will miss the SWEET UI, but the get-back features that the Fuze brings to the table are worth it (not to mention not having to juggle everything thru iTunes). From everything I've read, yes there have been some infancy gotcha's, but it appears to me that you smart folks have fixed the huge majority of them. Thanks guys <followed by an I'm not worthy bow> for the fixes, and this incredible info forum!
Well, to sum it up the Fuze for me:
o +0.6 is less broken than the Tilt graphically because it has some 2D/3D acceleration, but it's something like 60% of Kaiser's speeds.
o -1.0 has broken d-pad design by that company that designs only for show (and since HTC bought them, expect more of it)
o -1.0 poor case design that won't stand up to wear nor finger prints
o +1.5 has G-sensors that would make cool programming possibilities
o +1.0 has VGA display that should've been standard with Kaiser
0 +0.0 decent keyboard
o -1.0 is inferior, cheap-skate HTC/Qualcomm combination
vs Xperia (which I have yet to find in a store [and now delayed to January 12th, 2009]):
o +0.4 is less broken than Tilt graphically, but ~85% of Fuze's speed
o +0.5 doesn't have broken d-pad design, but questionable optical cursor
o +1.0 good case design that'll stand up to wear and fingerprints
o -1.5 doesn't have G-sensors for advanced programs
o +1.5 has VGA+ display for more screen estate usage such as PalmOS like writing/game-controller area
o -0.5 blah keyboard
o -1.0 is inferior, cheap-skate HTC/Qualcomm combination
so 0.1 versus 0.4 over the Kaiser. Hmm..
If only there was alternative Samsung/Xscale pda + 3D + accelerometers that isn't the iPhone.

XDA Exec battery life - more than 14hrs req.d

Bit of a noob question for my first post - sorry
Bought myself an SPV M5000 (remember them??) running WM6... didn't realise how big this thing was till it turned up
Anyway - the issue - in standby alone I seem to be getting about a days worth of battery out of it before it dies. This is not acceptable.
Running radio version 1.18.00 (Dunno if the rest is important, but ROM 2.07.00 WWE, Protocol 42.54.P8)
Now I've found some archived threads about rolling the radio version back to help solve this - was 1.18.00 one of the problem versions (should have fixed it by now surely??) and if so, how far back should I be looking?
Anything I could/should try before this? and...being really lazy now...could anyone post/show me to an idiot's guide for doing this
Thanks (and I promise to contribute more on future posts...if I don't just bin this paperweight first)

Welcome to the forum
I would recommend you to enter to Universal forum and read this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=267448
I have heard that some radios drain the battery fastet than others, I´m using 1.08 and my original battery from 2005 last me day and a half using a lot of calls and some BT and WIFI
Good luck and don´t forget to vote!
OMG! Soo much information
Thanks for the steer to the Universal section (may have found that eventually, but god knows how long it would have taken)
3hrs later, I think I've established that although I don't have the randomly dying battery (still going at .... 21%) Radio 1.18 works for others, so I probably do need a new battery - the phone's still got its protective screen covers on it, but that's not to say that the battery was new.
I'll switch back to my Treo (7days+ with use) for now and just use the brick for the SatNav till I get a new battery.
Don't think I'm gonna be able to spare the time to read up on how to do all this flashing stuff safely so hope the new battery works

Yes a new battery is the best solution, try to get the original!
On Universal forum there is a member called Dukenukem that sells the original ones at good price
You actually don´t have to spend so much hours reading and it´s worth!
Cheers and don,t forget to vote!

First: Yes Exec is a brick and Since I have it, I have given up to carry my 45 Magnum. HTC Universal (Exec) can do the same job
Be Frank IMHO Exec had never good battery live.. I hear some people saying they can last 1-3 days with it, but in my case: Push mail 80-100 mails, calls, a lot reminders and PIM use it has never lasted full one day.
My suggestion to stretch your battery live:
1) Low Phone Signal increase the power connection:
2) Radio Version depends on your service provider or Country.. In some countrys or locations the 118 has no problem but in others it leads to high power consumption or even device freezes. The best thing you can do is try different version and observe your phone Signal; call Quality and Battery live. Here you can find most Radio versions to download: http://vidmes.com/xda/Uni/Radios/
3) Changing frequent location (Driving) also decrease Battery live.
4) Set your Phone Band Manually to GSM or 3G dont use the setting "Auto"
5) Set your backlight settings to min brightness. ( in my case only to first line!!! Lower then that is Darkness)
6) Set Your Beam off to Incoming Beams
8) Backlight Time.. Set to min time ( in my case is 1min after that bcklight goes off)
9)Turn off device if not used... (In my case time: 1 min)
10) Find the Right ROM.. According my experiences some ROMs have high CPU usage.. even though nothing is active but CPU is running high. In most cases Shell32.exe leading to high CPU. ( My current ROM is Tomal 8.5 standard. very happy with it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=454906 )
11) If you don’t use push mail or don’t Sync. Kill the process repllog.exe. Again in Some ROM the Activesync. runs even though there is nothing to sync. (Push mail or Desktop Sync.) That leads additional CPU usage and also unnecessarily memory consumption.
At the end you will find out that you might need one more spare battery or one with higher capacity as it has been discussed here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=432099.
Furthermore if you plan to carry the exec on your belt you may also need one of these:http://www.suspenderstore.com/susu60.html

Has to be said that comparison isn't a huge amount better, , UK pants are under garments, the outer ones are trousers.
And i am missing the guys with less hair connection, suspenders in the UK are a female lingerie item.

Thanks for the “Pants” correction in British English.
According the Dictionary it seems in American English meaning of Pants can be also trousers. But hey how I would know..English is just my 4th language.
However Somehow I start to miss your connection to female lingerie items. Frankly speaking it appears to me that you did not see the suspender pictures in the link that I have given or else you would have seen those are the one of two straps worn over the shoulders to hold up trousers (pants). I believe to have seen that such suspender are also worn by Skinheads which some call them “the guys with less hair”
In Order to make it short, I suggest after you seen the pictures in the link, if you would still insist that such suspenders are in UK under the category lingerie items then I might need talk to the Web Company that sells those. They have somehow categorised that suspender under “BIG & TALL GUYS suspenders”????
Anyhow you have a Great day
I didi look at the link and hence my comments, i had missed the reference to skinheads, what is being sold as suspenders are called braces in the UK.

HTC S 710

Hi everyone, the great great great fourm...
I need advice from you...
I purchase S710 that was locked for some swiss network. The salesman told me that he somehow unlocked it and I can now use it on any network that i want....but I think that he broke it
First issue
-1- Battery life
The battery last 24 hours, I do not have TomTom, my wirelles and bluetooth are off, all power settings are ajusted to increase battery life. Dispalys goes blank after 30 sec. I even do not use it so much (2,3 SMS, 1 call...) whatever I do battery cannot last longer.
-2- Lost connectivity with GSM operater
This is serious issue. It shows full connectivity but no one can reach me, moreover when I try to call the call failed. Only reset (turn off and back on) helps . I have some old nokia and it has also full sinal and is availabe. Both devices are at same operator. All this brings the conclusion that there is something wrong with the new device.
It has wm6.0 and I serously think about flashing.
Do you think that it might help?
Thank you
Igor
About Batery Life Conversation you can read HERE
I dont know anything about signal or chanel. someone should know about this. just wait
in my experience, Im try to flash a vox ROM to another Rom.so I found a best Radio and flash it for my signal and place. it will save your batery life..
hope its help.
thanks
Sure it helps...
Yes, check what Radio version you have, there might be a newer one. Look in the Wiki for more details!
Upgraded to Dr Gonza ROM, It was smooth. So far so good...
Over
It is finally over, I removed dr Gonzo rom and installed WM 6.1 Clean from fireburned. I like keep things simple so that is the why I removed dr Gonzo rom and I had some issues with tornado power manager in dr Gonzo rom....
So the improvement is 400%. My baterry life increased on 4 days, the reception is great, I overall impression is that this is the best HTC device that I ever had. It looks like ordinary phone but has so much possibilites.
Thank you all for keeping this site alive
Igor
wow...its awesome... is it really long for 4days? great.. mine just 1 day w/o use wifi or bluetooth...
i realy need to buy a new batery as mine is 1-2 year old...
hey igrotti which radio that your use yours?

This phone is starting to become a pain....

I was excited when I got this phone, everything was going cool and all that....
The battery is the worst thing I have ever seen. I've tried all the radios, got all the power tweaks applied, I get down to 75% battery on EDGE, only texting in less than 5 hours. WTF is this? Is this a joke? It's not even funny! And not to mention the unreliabilty of the phone. I plan to send an email to HTC and ATT to see if I can work out anything. Never buying a phone from HTC again.
I think it's your rom. I get through a full day on H no problem. Which roms have you tried?
Also it could be radio and what most likely is the signal strength. As weaker the signal, as more power required to compensate.
WAAAAHHHH! Don't buy a smart phone then.
I get a full days use. About 2 hours of music playing, signed into an IM client and do some msg and talking and still have 75% at the end of the day.
My guess that its your rom, but i am betting you didn't change the setting in HTC's task manager.
Go to Settings > system > Task manager and change the close action button actually close the buttom. The default action for WM task manager and HTC task manager is to minimize or hide the apps.
So let's say i open WMPlayer, Google Maps, Contacts, Text, Microsoft word. I hit the X, but if i don't change that setting, when i press the X, those programs are still running consuming battery and memory.
Try making sure no unneeded tasks are running and update your radio to 1.14.25.05, and Da_G's 6.5 rom and lets see how ya do next week.

Yo PwnCakes193..
I feel yur agony.. I used to experience shi tty battery life too.. My raphael can only sustained for like 5 hours.. without battery draining applications like music player even running..
However, Things took a turn when i flashed my raphael to the following rom and radio:
ROM Version: ROMeOS v1.95.4 WWE
Radio: 1.12.25.19 (With matching rilphone version)
It is so much better now !! I have calls and sms coming in while Garmin GPS is running for like an hour with battery dropping only 15% from 100% to 75%... !! And i **** u not.. And by the way.. my raphael's been with me for like 5 months now.. I'm loving it more each day..
Good luck and hav fun!
Too advanced for you?

Well go buy an iPhone and stop cluttering our forum. They are made for the mainstream trendy techno gadget people who cant solve their own problems, but still want to look cool and smart in public when they pull out their phone. Neither ATT or HTC is going to change their whole hardware because of your e-mail.
Do you even realize what youre saying? Do you listen to yourself when you talk? First off, anyone that knows how to use their phone, and sets up the correct ROM/RIL/Radio combination gets a full day charge off of it, sometimes even a couple days. Second, do you realize that is a small PC in your pocket, and youre complaining about battery life?? Have you ever used a laptop? You know that brand new laptops only get 2-3 hours of battery life right?
Really, go get a regular phone, HTC phones are not made for everyone, and apparently this one is too complicated for you.
I echo what's been said in above posts and would add as a suggestion only to try the new htc rom with the 1.14.xx radio both are the latest from htc. Boring I know, but very stable. Don't throw your device away without trying it. The custom roms can be frustrating as they can be unstable at times, but very fun to tweak and experiment with.It sounds like yourmore a user who wants stability over the rest. Go to htc site and search for latest rom, try that 1.14 radio and report back.
I use a 1800 mAh battery in my pro and I always charge everynight. Not a big deal. I also have prolly less than the 75% you reported at the same time, another not a big deal. "it is what it is" You can adapt or you can get a diff phone. I have an LG dumb phone my work supplies me for calls only, that battery lasts 2 weeks . LOL!!
wow, harsh words.
It's not like this complaint is an isolated one. There are other forums out there(AT&T, and Howard) that have the same observations about battery life. To say that it is a portable pc and that someone should be happy with 6-8 hours of battery life is pretty silly too. It is a smartphone, like the blackberry, like the treo, like the blackberry. And when people complained about the battery life of the Iphone, it's not like everyone said, deal with it. Apple released another firmware to try and remedy this. Blackberrys seem to go for a couple if not more days without charging with 3G, push email etc running, so why would this not be expected from the Fuze?
I own both the Tilt and the Fuze and find I can squeeze out about 3 days with push email, a bluetooth headset, about an hour or two a day of listening to music through the headset and 3G enabled. The Fuze is supposed to be the successor of the tilt, so wouldn't it be logical to think i should be able to do the same with this product? I have flashed several different roms and radios(with the rilphone.dll) and right now cannot get past 8 hours of usage on it. I thought it was the radio but I have tested it without a sim in it and get the same results. So either the battery is faulty, or it just stinks.
I am going through troubleshooting it right now, and based on some helpful hints on other forums, am trying to discharge the battery fully in hopes that it resets the battery guage.
I think helpful posts, like those that say try a new radio/rom are good ways to respond. Saying "go get an Iphone" or "this is a ppc, deal with the battery" are not helpful to people who search the forums for solutions.
Just my 2(maybe a lot more) cents

Really? Listen a**hole, I know what I'm dealing with. I'm running the 21210 build of 6.5 that I cooked in Da_G's Kitchen with the .20M1 radio AND RIL. Yes, I know i'm being picky, but a phone should last at least a little while, no matter what. I get a full day charge, but just texting and no calling, on EDGE, I should easily be down to 85% in 24 hours. I know it's a small PC, but that is no excuse. I am a mainstream tech savvy person, and I mod/hack everything I own, use everything to it's full potential. I don't want an iPhone because its an overhyped and, in my opinion, horrible phone. I was never trying to look cool when I bought this phone. I even helped a few members out here when they bricked their phones, and I taught a few how to cook ROMs!
Next time think before you post, you troll.

I have tried almost all the ROMs, my favorite being At0mAng's, but he's gone now . I'm cooking my own 6.5 ROMs now
The Fuze is supposed to be the successor of the Tilt? I guess according to the order that ATT purchased their HTC phones, but probably not according to HTC...
The HTC Touch Pro is the successor of the Diamond. Just because ATT replaced the Tilt with the Fuze does not mean its the successor. Tmobile is calling the TP2 the "Wing 2" in America, does that mean it's the successor to the wing?? NO. If anything most hardcore HTC follower will agree the TP2 is the successor to the Tilt (kinda obvious isn't it?).
Regardless of what order they came in, or what phone its supposed to replace, the Fuze has a bigger processor, twice as much ram, and twice as high resolution LCD. Its hard to compare the 2 on battery life. My Tilt gets a faster GPS lock, and the battery lasts way longer, than the Fuze. Does that mean its better? NO.
If you're such a badass 'hacker' then you should obviously understand how much power the hardware in your device uses vs the size of the battery.

If you have an honest question where you need help then please ask, and im sure someone will help you get MUCH better battery life! All i really meant by what i was saying before i got sidetracked, is that if you don't like your HTC products, or it doesn't fit your lifestyle like you thought it would, then take it back, and get something else. Just don't come into a HTC forum, and start badmouthing products, because that will get you nowhere, and you should have been expecting the answer you got.
I'm with leak73 on this one. I think this forum is great, but I do think there are too many people that jump on someone as soon as they say anything negative about this phone.
I bought this phone to make my life easier, to manage work and personal tasks on the same device. I thought this device was the one I had been waiting for.
I am also disappointed with the performance of the Raphael. And I don't think it should be asking too much to expect the device to work properly straight out of the box. Yes, I appreciate that this is a windows mobile device that has massive flexibility and can be customised, but those possibilites should be in addition to a stock device that does the basics properly.
I have had a number of issues with the phone - battery life, dailer issues, poor reception (and I know this can contribute to poor battery life, but why should it be so much worse than other devices I have used in the same areas?).
The members on this forum have helped me out a lot over the past few months (which I am very grateful for) tweaking and trying to get this phone to be what it should have been in the first place. And while I am now enjoying tweaking and customising my phone, I will never criticise anyone who points out the shameful fact that this device is virtually unusable without putting time and effort into sorting it out.

Where'd you get badass? I just said I hacked/modded a lot of the things I owned.... I haven't gotten into the processing specs and all that stuff yet...
And since when does being a troll have to do with what time you joined? I have yet to troll on this forum, I have either asked questions, or have helped people who are having trouble....

I hear that, I can relate as I've had my s**t jumped a few times on this forum as well and I always learned from it. I'm not an expert at all and thats the reason I come here to learn about my various wm devices, currently the touch pro. I undestand the issues especially with battery and stability.Except for battery I don't have any complaints that you mention. My RF which I value as a number 1 priority is very good. No dialer issues here either. I also think it would be nice to have perfectly operating devices right out of the box and considering what we pay for these things, it seems we should get better. In my experience all the wm devices I've ever had have had inadequate batteries. It's just the way it is. I did not expect my pro to be any diff. in that regard. I got it anyway and bought a better battery. In the past few weeks I've tried various 6.5 roms with differing results and none were very stable. It's the way it is and I don't really expect it to be better, but I love it anyway. I've used symbian s60 nokia devices and thought some of the e series have outstanding stability and battery life. So I have choices.
My choice is to continue learning and I'll get extended batteries when I think I need it. When I get tired of the wm BS I'll go back to E series for awhile.
For anyone who is calling themselves proficient in wm and the various ins and outs of flashing and obviously has some experience apparently, I find it kinda strange that they would be surprised by the battery life. Stability can be had from diff rom combos. But bad battery life is a given with wm. we get used to it and move on or go check out e series. It also rocks! Lotsa choices.
Maybe I am one of the unluck ones that have experienced more than my fair share of problems. I have had more issues than I mentioned in my last post - obviously the GPS problem, keyboard lag (although it seams to be fixed now with tweaking), dodgy call acceptance/ring delay (this seems sorted in the new HTC Rom), active sync issues (not sure if this is the software though) and the general lock up issues.
Don't get me wrong though when this device works it is everything I hoped for, I just wish it worked like that all (or at least most) of the time.

what tweaks did you apply to fix the keyboard lag?
wow, boys, calm down. *****ing at each other is oh so productive. maybe we could try to HELP each other out and be friends! just a thought...
i'm getting maybe 12 hours on a full charge running the leaked att stock rom and it's really starting to tick me off. i bought a portable power pack that can give me a full charge on its full charge (Xpal harry II) but i want to be able to get AT LEAST a full day without having to pop it onto a usb or wall charger for 20 minutes. im thinknig of flashing to da_g's or natf's 6.1 roms witihn the next couple weeks hoping that they'd be able to improve my battery life. i'm pretty happy with the radio and i'm in boston so no major signal issues there. maybe it's just a sh*tty rom draining my battery?
and now that i wasted 10 minutes reading this thread, i'm giong to go back to studying for finals. joy.
EDIT: I installed the fuzeberry theme a week or two ago and that's caused a TF3D problem (see my thread here about this here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=511760) but is there any chance that THIS is also killing my battery? hate the att manila but i might have to revert back if it gets me more hours :\

****, sorry mate I can't remember now, I changed a setting in the registry and installed a keyboardincrease cab? Maybe others on here will be able to point you in the right direction. I am a noob at this type of stuff really and just follow instructions that members on here suggest - once the problems fixed I forget about it.
nhshah7-
try using a 6.5 ROM I cooked now, it's doing fairly well, i would Hard-SPL, then try and flash a new radio or ROM, should help you out, turn off 3G, which should help. Also download advanceconfig and turn on the power saving items there.
FWIW, I have never had good results with the gps, but since I flashed the htc 5.05.401.1 with radio: 1.14.25.05 I now get very quick lock times. Also battery is a bit better even tho I'm running shell3.
