Update ROM without USB - HTC Tornado

Can i update the ROM over the miniSD card ?
Because when i turn on the USB cable (PC-Mob) the PC saids "Unknown Device" and when i try another tornado it works so the USB is defect or a part of the phone software. I use bluetooth for the sync but i can't update the ROM.
is it possible (to update from miniSD)?

1. try an other usb port;
2. if you are using windows vista, you need old xp driver: try this guide ( http://www2.webng.com/nionxp/articoli/art_print.asp?artID=41 );
3. if you are using windows xp try to remove activesync, device drivers and reinstall them. (don't use mobile device center in xp: very nice, but programmed very bad without support for all device!).
in every case in informatics you can do all! there's a procedure to load an image from sd to device rom booting from sd but i don't remember the procedure.. follow the first three points before wasting your time.. solving a software problem is more simple..
good luck!

>> Smartphone software <<

1. tried on 3 PC-s
2. -
3. I tried on a my friends PC his tornado works my not
maybe the pins are broken so the OS recognizes that there is a device but maybe the TX/RX pin is broken and can't get the info
i think i must extract the setup of the ROM and rename the nk.nbf file to ??.nbf , then insert the card and enter the bootloader
i think the USB connector on the phone is physical defect.

try an other cable, or looking for repair usb pins:

How to Flash Wizard ROM in Windows 7/Vista using VMWare Virtual Machine/PC

Hi Guys,
Most of us may know this method, but thought of putting it on the forum anyways.
Requirements:
1. You will need a Virtual PC for this method, either VMWare Workstation or MS Virtual PC. If you don't know how to use/setup Virtual PC, google it.
2. We will flash the Wizard by putting it in the bootloader mode.
Procedure:
1. Setup a Windows XP Virtual PC and start it.
2. Backup your phone.
3. Remove Memory and Sim card.
4. Remove phone battery and wait for 10-15 seconds.
5. Insert battery.
6. Press the power button for only a second.
7. Hold the camera button until you see the 3 band colored (red, green and blue) screen with the IPS/SPL info.
8. Connect the Wizard to your computer.
9. Windows 7/Vista (which is the primary/main Operating System) will add drivers, you may or may not get a message.
10. In the Virtual PC, goto the menu where you can connect/disconnect removable devices.
11. Here the Wizard will be listed as a USB device, you can identify it easily.
12. From here on you can flash the ROM, i recommend you follow the procedure listed in the "How to flash a new ROM to your Wizard... a little tutorial!" thread 298613.
Note: You may experience issues with this method. It is recommended to keep a copy of Virtual PC seperate.
1. Sometimes the flash progress may be stuck at 0%.
2. Shutdown the WinXP Virtual PC and try again.
3. It the Virtual PC doesn't starts, delete this Virtual PC file and use the backup (create a copy of the Virtual PC file first).
Happy Flashing.
Disclaimer: Info provided in good faith, I am not responsible for any damage/loss of any kind that you may experience following this procedure.
Your method is way too complicated. I flashed my wizard from windows 7 using this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=485293
Thanks
Thanks for the link, the RUU was able to flash the Hornet 5 ROM (thread 416636)perfectly, but it could not flash the RUU_TMobile_US_226102_22610105_022511_WWE_Ship, I got "file not found" error.
I wish there was a universal Windows 7/Vista compatible RUU for Wizard.
You are making it too hard! Download the Vista drivers I am uploading-its for Windows 64 bit. Restart your computer while holding down f8. Turn off digital signing of drivers. Put your Wizard in bootloader mode and connect to pc. Open (from the Start Menu) CONTROL PANEL>HARDWARE AND SOUND>DEVICE MANAGER. Find your ppc in the listed menu. Hit update driver. Just go through the menus hitting next until you get to an option where you hit "HAVE DISK". Hit browse, find where you have it on your computer and install. SEARCH IS YOUR FRIEND, TRY IT, USE IT, LOVE IT.

[Q] usb serial driver

Where can i download a free serial usb driver for windows smartphone?
What do you want to do? Serial interface is already included via Bluetooth (incoming and outgoing port) - not sure about USB, despite AS connection in "not enhanced mode (RNDIS)" is said to be "serial" as well.
I need the driver to connect my smartphone to a new pc via usb. My old pc crashed recently and i wasnt able to backup any software. Also, ive lost the cd which came with the phone and i dont know where to get a replacement.
You need a driver for the PC, not on the device. I have no experience with new OS, only Win XP. What happens when you connect the device via USB to the new PC?
My os is winxp. When i connect to the pc it says "found new hardware generic serial" then it brings the found new hardware wizard . I cant continue since i dont have the recquired driver on a removable disk or anywhere on the pc.my phone is spv c600
You need to install Active Sync first on your PC. This should install also all needed drivers for the device to connect. Look here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...34-6f7f-404d-a04b-dc09f8141141&displayLang=en
I have already installed activesync 4.5 but i didnt see it install any drivers.
Is WinXP on the latest Service Pack (SP3 I think) and does it have all Microsoft patches installed afterwards?
AS install should put the drivers to the repository for later install when needed - it will not install the drivers right away. Why don't you let the driver's install look for the drivers in the internet - I don't remember any similar problems on my PC.
Search Microsoft for USB serial driver and RNDIS driver for XP if install does not get it for you automatically.
Oh! It has dected the phone. I reinstalled it while the device was connected to the pc and it worked . thanx so much

[SOLUTION] HTC Explorer USB Connection Problem

DISCLAIMER: Iam NOT responsible if something happens to your phone.
Problem Description:
When I connect my HTC Explorer to PC using Data Cable NOTHING HAPPENS ,It Just CHARGES and the Menu doesn't open up.
Even When I tried USB Tethering by going into setings Manually .It says "Unable to Turn On" .I can no longer transfer files from phone to PC .
Have you tried
1. Reinstalling HTC Sync and Drivers
2. Rebooting and Hard Reset
3. Flashing Custom ROM's
4. Using Different Data Cables
But still NO LUCK !!!
First Let's Check Whether it's a Hardware Problem (NOT NECESSARY)
1. Go into Bootloader and then to Fastboot Menu
2. Connect your Phone to PC
3. Now the Phone should Read as "Fastboot USB"
4. Try this Fastboot Command "FASTBOOT DEVICES"
5. If your Phone is Shown in the list ,It's Just a Software Problem and Continue Reading this thread
.If not ,then it's mostly a Hardware Issue
Solution:
1. Download PDANet on your phone (NOT THE APK) (This is for USB Tethering)
2. Connect your Phone using Data cable with Windows Logged On (Nothing will happen)
3. Restart your PC (DONT remove your Phone)
4. As soon as PC starts up ,you'll see the Menu on your Phone that used to appear (You'll see Disk Drive,USB Tetheing....)
5. Make Sure USB Debugging is ON
6. When you're logged into Windows, Select Disk Drive from the Menu on your phone
7. Wait and you're Memory Card will be recoginsed on PC
8. Open PDAnet.exe from Memory Card and Install
USB Tethering will now work (If still not working ,go into settings->wireless and networks->mobile networks->access point names and try changing access point ,then try PDANet again)
This WORKED for me ,:good:
So Next time ,Follow Step 2,3,4 and 5
Then After you log on, Choose Anything you want from Menu on Phone.
I doubt USB Tethering will work directly .But you can use it from PDANet.:good:

Windows 10 installs latest drivers automatically. I don't know if Windows 7 will do the same.
It's not uncommon for the problem to be on the PC side.
Try to uninstall and the drivers, update OS and clean your windows system. Then connect the phone and let Windows install the drivers.
For ADB connection you need either Huawei or Google drivers. Depends on Huawei model.

I have this problem on my windows 10 but not on my windows 8 laptop. The fix is to manually update the installed device driver software. That is assuming you've previously installed all drivers or windows installed them for you.
If you connect your phone to PC and put it on file transfer mode. But nothing comes up do this
Connect phone to PC.
Right click start menu
Click device manager
Expand portable devices
Under portable devices you will see mtp device or
You should see your device eg H60-L04
Right click. Update driver software
Browse my computer for driver
Click Let me pick from a list of drivers
It should show you a couple of drivers. Like MTP / MTP USB device. Just pick another from the list and click next.
Hopefully this works for you

PC Doesn't Recognise GT-N8010 Device

Hi,
After flashing a custom ROM, my GT-N8010 device is not recognised by my laptop. I think it was after I used Advanced Wipe in TWRP while my device was connected to my computer. Ever since then, I've been getting the "The last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned" error. Flashing custom ROMs with a Micro SD card works fine, but the device is still not recognised.
I've tried:
1. Selecting File Transfer as the default USB protocol
2. Enabling/Disabling the USB debugging function
3. Using the Mount option in TWRP
4. Connecting the device to multiple laptops
5. Reinstalling the Samsung USB driver for mobile phones
I thought flashing the stock ROM would be the best option, but I couldn't use Odin because my device is not recognised.
Also, the USB cable is an official cable, and charging works (through both the charger and the PC).
Would anyone happen to know how this could possibly be fixed? Or is there any other way to flash the stock ROM without a USB cable?
Thank you!

Tried it on a completely different PC, but the results are the same. I think there's a problem with the GT-N8010 device; I've tried changing the PC/laptop multiple times already.
Usual is USB cable then no Samsung USB Drivers .
