Hi,
After flashing a custom ROM, my GT-N8010 device is not recognised by my laptop. I think it was after I used Advanced Wipe in TWRP while my device was connected to my computer. Ever since then, I've been getting the "The last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned" error. Flashing custom ROMs with a Micro SD card works fine, but the device is still not recognised.
I've tried:
1. Selecting File Transfer as the default USB protocol
2. Enabling/Disabling the USB debugging function
3. Using the Mount option in TWRP
4. Connecting the device to multiple laptops
5. Reinstalling the Samsung USB driver for mobile phones
I thought flashing the stock ROM would be the best option, but I couldn't use Odin because my device is not recognised.
Also, the USB cable is an official cable, and charging works (through both the charger and the PC).
Would anyone happen to know how this could possibly be fixed? Or is there any other way to flash the stock ROM without a USB cable?
Thank you!

Tried it on a completely different PC, but the results are the same. I think there's a problem with the GT-N8010 device; I've tried changing the PC/laptop multiple times already.
Usual is USB cable then no Samsung USB Drivers .

have you installed the usb drivers for it? What windows you running?
installed drivers several times but it doesnt seem to help
windows 7 32 bit
You can try using a program called usbdeview. Google it and download it. It shows you all of the drivers installed on your computer. Delete all of the drivers affiliated with your phone. Make sure USB Debugging is checked and connect your phone and allow it to install the drivers automatically. It might work, either way, worth a try.
Well guys, from the title you will think that its a regular windows drivers problem, but its not that straight. My Moto G is not even detecting to my laptop having windows 10 system (no yellow exclamation mark in device manager, not even an error message atleast) But at the same time my friends Moto G and Moto E is connecting in seconds and able to see that in device manager, also able to access files from mobile storage.
First time in my life I am feeling clueless even after trying every option to fix it.
First the basic system information for you:
Laptop: Dell Inspiron 1545 , Windows 10 OS Pro version (not K and KN version )
Drivers installed: Motorola device manager, Google SDK pack is also installed with its ADB driver.
About phone:
Moto G XT1033 16GB model[/COLOR]
OS: non rooted stock Lollipop 5.1 OS, Developer options enabled-USB debugging enabled
Now things I've already tried to fix this:
With Windows 10:
1) Downloaded Motorola device drivers from mototola website for Moto G. Installed, checked for update drivers. Thoroughly gone through Device manager and checked there but no sign of device at all.
2) NO problem with data cable because it can transfer data and not just a charging cable. confirmed and verified.
3) Checked USB ports for loose contacts at both sides of wire. Connected in every port for hope. No such problem.
4) Even after my Windows 10 is a Pro version I still tried to install Media Feature Pack as suggested by Microsoft site in case to overcome this problem but no luck.
5) Whenever I tried to run Motorola device manager, it just checks for new device software and goes off saying no updates.
Now even you can tell that there is no issue with windows system.
With Moto G:
1) Checked USB debugging, stay awake options In developer options.
2) Tried changing MTP option to PTP and reverse in setting - storage menu.
3) Checked every setting menu from android settings and apps to make sure no one is preventing this device from connecting.
4) Tried reseting mobile with to factory.
5) Pen drive is connecting to mobile via USB OTG and data transfer is working to and fro.
Important:
1) I can transfer my mobile files to PC by wireless method using apps, but I want to root my device. For that I have to connect it to PC to unlock the boot loader.
2) Before 2 months with the same system and windows 10, this moto g was connecting to PC and I was able to transfer files. But for now its not connecting at all.
Sorry for the long post but help me guys !!! What can you suggest me here if I am missing something ?
Thanks in advance.:good:
Things you could try:
- Use a Linux OS (live CD/USB) and run lsusb to see if anything shows up
- Put the phone into bootloader mode (fastboot) and see if the PC detects any USB device
If both of the above fail, the USB port in your phone may be defective.

Thanks for the quick reply. I tried to connect mobile in fastboot mode and now its saying [device descriptor request failed] in device manager. I am trying further and will also check linux os option that you suggested.
Tried both of your workarounds
When connected in fastboot mode it is showing [device descriptor request failed] in device manager.
Searched about it a lot and tried different solutions suggested for it..but its still not connecting properly.
2) checked with live cd and using command lsusb but no luck there ..
Now I'm really thinking that it's a USB port problem/hardware problem of mobile..but how that port is working fine for charging ??
Plzz suggest me any other methods of fix thus problem or is there any other way rather than connecting mobile to pc for unlocking Motorola devices bootloader ???
After a couple of hours trying to fix this problem with my XT1039, I solved it with this windows update: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=49919 .
All over the internet ppl say that Media Feature Pack for N and KN versions of Windows 10 should be installed but all the mirrors and 1st results goes to the PREVIOUS version which didn't solve my problem. With this latest version, everything is working now.
Hi guys, i have a problem with my Nexus 5.
I was trying to flash 7.1.1 with TWRP as allways (i flash roms every time) but i made wipe of the internal storage so now i have any OS installed on my phone. I had this problem sometimes but now i am using windows 10 and my PC don`t recognise my phone. I have tried a lot of ways to solve it but anything works. What can i do? it is possible to flash a rom with an otg cable?
Thanks and sorry for my english!
EDIT: when i open a cmd window it says "waiting for device". I tried in another pc and it says "its not any internal or external command".
Tried different USB cables and USB 2.0 ports? Tried another computer?

Yes both, but nothing.
So nothing shows up in device manager when you connect the phone in fastboot mode?

Nothing.
I have an otg but when i'm into recovery mode, i select "mount" and then "usb otg" but it doesn't select.
Sounds like there could be something wrong with the phone's internal USB flex cable.

I tried in another pc and it works, but when i open a cmd window it says "its no internal o external command" so idk
When connected to the other computer, what device shows up in Windows' Device Manager?
Wipe the internal storage again, this could help. Flash factory image through fastboot if you can/want. this should fix it
Well, i tried in another pc and i have a new problem. Now i go to device manager and it appears how "unkown device". I tried to update drivers but nothing.
Few weeks ago i had problems with de power button and i had to repair it. The service centre changed the button and the usb port i think, because it seems to be a little diferent. I think it could be the problem.
Hi,
I have the same issue when using Windows 10.
1 - Connect your phone to the PC
2 - Grand it file transfer from your phone notification if it isn't an automatic connection.
3 - Open Device Manager on your PC.
4 - Scroll down look for Universal Serial Bus Controller.
5 - You will see and unknown device with exclamation mark.
6 - Right click it and Update driver.
7 - Select "Browse my computer for driver software".
8 - key in this "C:\Windows\INF" or simply copy-paste it from here.
9 - Next
10 - You will be displayed with list of compatible drivers. (if not, tick show compatible drivers).
11 - Select "USB Composite Driver"
12 - Done. your device will be connected.
13 - Profit..!!
Did the repair shop use an OEM USB replacement? Was the USB port giving problems before being replaced?
Problem solved. The usb plug was badly welded.
Thanks for your help!

No, the driver probably did not installed correctly.
Install the driver. Miflash has the driver needed.

hi, @shaurya_needs_help, did you solve the issue?.
Hi,
For some reason I can no longer transfer files from my Android device to my Linux PC using Android File Transfer.
I can list the device:
sudo adb devices -l
List of devices attached
????????? device usb:1-4 product:OnePlus5T model:ONEPLUS_A5010 device:OnePlus5T transport_id:2
Click to collapse
but Andorid File Transfer (version 4.2) wouldn't start with this phone. When I attach an older phone (Nexus 4) all is fine and I can transfer files without problem.
USB Debugging is enabled on the device.
On USB Preferences File Transfer is selected. Other options are USB tethering, MIDI, PTP, No data transfer.
Any help will be appreciated.
Update: problem solved - had to use root privilidges
Try another cable. Cliché but it's often the culprit. When you get the USB mode popup just cancel it and it'll decide on its own. Disable USB debugging as it doesn't need to be on. Try other USB ports, or the last one it was known working on. Failing that see if there's a proprietary software. Microsoft Your Phone Companion might help..
