[Q] usb serial driver - HTC Tornado

Where can i download a free serial usb driver for windows smartphone?

What do you want to do? Serial interface is already included via Bluetooth (incoming and outgoing port) - not sure about USB, despite AS connection in "not enhanced mode (RNDIS)" is said to be "serial" as well.

I need the driver to connect my smartphone to a new pc via usb. My old pc crashed recently and i wasnt able to backup any software. Also, ive lost the cd which came with the phone and i dont know where to get a replacement.

You need a driver for the PC, not on the device. I have no experience with new OS, only Win XP. What happens when you connect the device via USB to the new PC?

My os is winxp. When i connect to the pc it says "found new hardware generic serial" then it brings the found new hardware wizard . I cant continue since i dont have the recquired driver on a removable disk or anywhere on the pc.my phone is spv c600

You need to install Active Sync first on your PC. This should install also all needed drivers for the device to connect. Look here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...34-6f7f-404d-a04b-dc09f8141141&displayLang=en

I have already installed activesync 4.5 but i didnt see it install any drivers.

Is WinXP on the latest Service Pack (SP3 I think) and does it have all Microsoft patches installed afterwards?
AS install should put the drivers to the repository for later install when needed - it will not install the drivers right away. Why don't you let the driver's install look for the drivers in the internet - I don't remember any similar problems on my PC.
Search Microsoft for USB serial driver and RNDIS driver for XP if install does not get it for you automatically.

Oh! It has dected the phone. I reinstalled it while the device was connected to the pc and it worked . thanx so much

runing adb on t-mobile phone

can it be done ?
i set the phone to USB development on, however when windows asks for driver, it wont accept that driver that comes with the sdk, nor the one supplied in the google android site.
Yes it can be done you need a zip file called android_usb_windows it has the drivers you need if that does not work then are you on vista?
thats the file I have, and I'm on XP pro
are you running xp x64 edition?
no, regular 32bit
Won't accept? does it install the driver or give an error? have you made sure its on a powered usb 2.0 port? people have problems with 1.2 and 1.0 usb ports.
also, does mass storage work? does it mount to your pc as a drive?
its a usb2.0 port on my vaio laptop...
what i mean was that windows won't install the driver for the phone when connected in dev mode (it finds new hardware, just won't accept the android driver..)
for mass storage, it does detect the android phone, it installed the driver fine, but won't mount it as a drive..

Can't connect to pc

Bought this Galaxy S USED yesterday
I cant get it to connect to my pc
i have done the following.
-installed and reinstalled Kies several times
-Installed and reinstalled drivers several times
-Tried 4 different usb cables
-Tried in USB debugging mode
My phone connects to the pc and then i get a message that my phone is not recognized (windows error 43)
The phone does charge . I have tried all of the options like Samsung Kies , Mass storage , Media player
Nothing seems to work when i select media player option the mpt application starts to crash , i have read on forums that if the mtp crashes i can just select mass storage mode but when i select mass storage mode my pc says device not recognized
When i checked the Build info it says on Kernel Version 2.6.29 [email protected] #4
Firmware version is 2.1-update-1
Build number is Eclair.XWJM2
Please help me with this , i thought maybe there if i flash everything but in order to flash it i need to connect it to my pc which is becoming impossible
have you installed the usb drivers for it? What windows you running?
installed drivers several times but it doesnt seem to help
windows 7 32 bit
You can try using a program called usbdeview. Google it and download it. It shows you all of the drivers installed on your computer. Delete all of the drivers affiliated with your phone. Make sure USB Debugging is checked and connect your phone and allow it to install the drivers automatically. It might work, either way, worth a try.

Samsung Mobile USB Serial Port Issue

Hi, I'm having an extremly annoyning issue with my S8530. I can't seem to make Windows XP SP3 32-bit recognize properly my phone. I have install all the drivers I could find (old, new, from official site, from the undergorund of the internet) and it still gets stuck on detectic USB Serial Port giving just the message that something went wrong and it can't install driver (from auto-detecting devices from Windows). It did install Composit and Modem parts of the drivers but it allways stuck at that part no matter what driver I pre-install, how many restart I do to the PC, how many USB ports I keep chainging, how many USB cables I swap, how many restart I give to the phone. I'm starting going bananananananananananananananananananas.
Any ideeas are greatly apriciated.

Are you trying to get the USB Mass Storage to work or the ADB over USB?
The normal Windows Mass Storage driver should work on anything.
If you are trying to get the ADB driver to work you may need to
add your VID/PID to the INF file for the ADB driver.

ADB over USB so I can make Kies recognize my phone, wich won't work in Mass Storage. And it should be plug and play (after installing Kies wich installs the drivers or by just intalling the drivers alone). I don't have other machines to trie with Windows 7 (wich allways worked before) and my current PC barelly handles 5 open tabs of Chrome so no Windows 7 options here.
Plug your phone into the Windows box.
Go to Device Manager and find under Properties the VID/PID.
Check the INF file for the ADB driver and see if your IDs are in there.
If not, make a section like all the other sections with your VID/PID in it.
Install the driver.

[Q] Nexus 5 USB driver issues

I started to have this issue since I have formatted my PC (I've got Windows 7 Professional).
If I connect the device without the debugging USB activated, the PC doesn't recognize it, such as the device doesn't exist. Neither the classic sound which the PC does when you connect something to the USBs ports. Nothing, without the debugging USB my PC doesn't recognize nothing, and the device only goes charging, the notify of the USB connected doesn't appear, it could be because the PC doesn't recognize the device.
But if I activate the USB debugging my PC recognizes something. The auto-installation from Windows Update for the drivers starts (it says "Nexus 5"), but it doesn't find any driver on Windows Update. So I've downloaded the original Google USB drivers. I've gone on Computer -> Device -> Right click on Nexus 5 -> Update of the drivers. So I selected the unzipped folder but Windows doesn't install the drivers. It says it's impossibile to find the driver for the device, but I've selected the correct folder!
I've also tried to download the drivers with SDK Manager, but even in this way Windows doesn't install the drivers.
I've also tried to download the "naked drivers" from XDA, but that was the same result.
So I don't know how to do. Why Windows doesn't recognize my device?
My Nexus 5 is still with the stock firmware.

I had this issue with my first N7 2013. I ended up RMAing it because of touchscreen issues, and the replacement never had the issue. From my experience, I can only deduce it's a problem with the hardware.

Can't connect to PC

Can't connect my 2 XL and 3 XL(both pie august update) to PC(Windows 10). They only charge. There is no notification. Nothing in Device Manager on Windows 10.
I've tried:
Different laptops
Different cables
Different ports
USB Debugging
USB Configuration(All of them and connecting)
USB 2.0 and 3.0
Can anyone please help.
Thank you!
Sometimes my Android phones would not be recognised if there were some old Android phone drivers installed. So I had to remove old drivers in the Windows settings and let Windows automatically reinstall drivers when plugging in my phone again.
Don't know if this is the right direction also for you, as in your case literally nothing is working, but you still could give it a shot.
Instructions on how to uninstall a driver In Windows can be found here:
https://www.pcworld.com/article/246041/how-to-uninstall-drivers-in-windows.html
Just look out for a device name that could match Android phones. For example 'MTP device' or 'ADB device' or something, and uninstall those drivers, and then plug in your phone in 'File Transfer Mode' again and see if something changes.
Hope this helps.
windows 10 and it's drivers and updates are too buggy! Please use linux live USB, doot from it on your PC and try connecting your phone to it. I am sure that will work and issue is in your OS and not in your phone
