runing adb on t-mobile phone - G1 Android Development

can it be done ?
i set the phone to USB development on, however when windows asks for driver, it wont accept that driver that comes with the sdk, nor the one supplied in the google android site.

Yes it can be done you need a zip file called android_usb_windows it has the drivers you need if that does not work then are you on vista?

thats the file I have, and I'm on XP pro

are you running xp x64 edition?

no, regular 32bit

Won't accept? does it install the driver or give an error? have you made sure its on a powered usb 2.0 port? people have problems with 1.2 and 1.0 usb ports.
also, does mass storage work? does it mount to your pc as a drive?

its a usb2.0 port on my vaio laptop...
what i mean was that windows won't install the driver for the phone when connected in dev mode (it finds new hardware, just won't accept the android driver..)
for mass storage, it does detect the android phone, it installed the driver fine, but won't mount it as a drive..

[Q] usb serial driver

Where can i download a free serial usb driver for windows smartphone?
What do you want to do? Serial interface is already included via Bluetooth (incoming and outgoing port) - not sure about USB, despite AS connection in "not enhanced mode (RNDIS)" is said to be "serial" as well.
I need the driver to connect my smartphone to a new pc via usb. My old pc crashed recently and i wasnt able to backup any software. Also, ive lost the cd which came with the phone and i dont know where to get a replacement.
You need a driver for the PC, not on the device. I have no experience with new OS, only Win XP. What happens when you connect the device via USB to the new PC?
My os is winxp. When i connect to the pc it says "found new hardware generic serial" then it brings the found new hardware wizard . I cant continue since i dont have the recquired driver on a removable disk or anywhere on the pc.my phone is spv c600
You need to install Active Sync first on your PC. This should install also all needed drivers for the device to connect. Look here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...34-6f7f-404d-a04b-dc09f8141141&displayLang=en
I have already installed activesync 4.5 but i didnt see it install any drivers.
Is WinXP on the latest Service Pack (SP3 I think) and does it have all Microsoft patches installed afterwards?
AS install should put the drivers to the repository for later install when needed - it will not install the drivers right away. Why don't you let the driver's install look for the drivers in the internet - I don't remember any similar problems on my PC.
Search Microsoft for USB serial driver and RNDIS driver for XP if install does not get it for you automatically.
Oh! It has dected the phone. I reinstalled it while the device was connected to the pc and it worked . thanx so much

Samsung Mobile USB Serial Port Issue

Hi, I'm having an extremly annoyning issue with my S8530. I can't seem to make Windows XP SP3 32-bit recognize properly my phone. I have install all the drivers I could find (old, new, from official site, from the undergorund of the internet) and it still gets stuck on detectic USB Serial Port giving just the message that something went wrong and it can't install driver (from auto-detecting devices from Windows). It did install Composit and Modem parts of the drivers but it allways stuck at that part no matter what driver I pre-install, how many restart I do to the PC, how many USB ports I keep chainging, how many USB cables I swap, how many restart I give to the phone. I'm starting going bananananananananananananananananananas.
Any ideeas are greatly apriciated.

Are you trying to get the USB Mass Storage to work or the ADB over USB?
The normal Windows Mass Storage driver should work on anything.
If you are trying to get the ADB driver to work you may need to
add your VID/PID to the INF file for the ADB driver.

ADB over USB so I can make Kies recognize my phone, wich won't work in Mass Storage. And it should be plug and play (after installing Kies wich installs the drivers or by just intalling the drivers alone). I don't have other machines to trie with Windows 7 (wich allways worked before) and my current PC barelly handles 5 open tabs of Chrome so no Windows 7 options here.
Plug your phone into the Windows box.
Go to Device Manager and find under Properties the VID/PID.
Check the INF file for the ADB driver and see if your IDs are in there.
If not, make a section like all the other sections with your VID/PID in it.
Install the driver.

I have MTP and USB tethering working on my dell xp PC
To get tethering working you need USB debugging enabled and then select USB tethering... Obviously you'll need the proper drivers setup and installed.
When I select USB tethering and then check in Device Manager it shows my N5 connected under "Network Adapters" as "Windows Mobile-based internet sharing device" I right click on it and select Properties and then select the Drivers Tab and then select Driver Details it shows 2 driver details listed -
1. C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\rndismpx.sys - which is Remote NDIS miniport
2. C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\usb802x.sys - which is Remote NDIS USB driver
Your gonna want to take a look a my post about MTP and try and get that setup also... Here's my post from another thread -
Well I can tell you what transpired... I was having MTP and fastboot driver issues when I was trying to unlock the Bootloader and root my lenovo a2109 tablet. I finally got the fastboot driver installed but I was still having MTP driver issues. I did a lot of research on MTP and tried a lot of solutions. Something's that I did was update windows media player to 10 or higher, I installed mtppk12 = MTP porting kit, Microsoft user mode drivers, installed Android SDK, Java and .net framework 4.0 I also have the latest version of Microsoft ActiveSync installed as this added additional USB drivers for my PC to communicate with my windows phone.
I have all kinds of drivers installed on my PC. I have my N5, 2 other lg phones, 2 Samsung's, 2 Tablets, a Huawei, all are android devices and a HTC windows phone. MTP mode works on all of them except the HTC windows phone obviously, but USB debugging has to be disabled and I don't have to reboot my phones to get them to connect.
When I connect my N5 to my PC with only MTP selected and check in device manager it shows up under "Portable devices" as "Nexus 5" when I right click on it and select properties, then click on the drivers tab and select, driver details it shows 2 driver details -
1. "C:\windows\system32\drivers\wpdusb.sys" which is WPD USB driver
2. "C:\windows\system32\drivers\wudfrd.sys" which is Windows driver foundation - User mode drive framework reflector.
It shows the same driver details for all my android devices and lists them under portable devices in device manager by there names. eg. Nexus 5, LGMS 769, LGMS 770, A2109 and so on.
I also have MTP Enhanced.exe installed to the root of my C:\ Drive
Good luck

[Q] Nexus 5 USB driver issues

I started to have this issue since I have formatted my PC (I've got Windows 7 Professional).
If I connect the device without the debugging USB activated, the PC doesn't recognize it, such as the device doesn't exist. Neither the classic sound which the PC does when you connect something to the USBs ports. Nothing, without the debugging USB my PC doesn't recognize nothing, and the device only goes charging, the notify of the USB connected doesn't appear, it could be because the PC doesn't recognize the device.
But if I activate the USB debugging my PC recognizes something. The auto-installation from Windows Update for the drivers starts (it says "Nexus 5"), but it doesn't find any driver on Windows Update. So I've downloaded the original Google USB drivers. I've gone on Computer -> Device -> Right click on Nexus 5 -> Update of the drivers. So I selected the unzipped folder but Windows doesn't install the drivers. It says it's impossibile to find the driver for the device, but I've selected the correct folder!
I've also tried to download the drivers with SDK Manager, but even in this way Windows doesn't install the drivers.
I've also tried to download the "naked drivers" from XDA, but that was the same result.
So I don't know how to do. Why Windows doesn't recognize my device?
My Nexus 5 is still with the stock firmware.

I had this issue with my first N7 2013. I ended up RMAing it because of touchscreen issues, and the replacement never had the issue. From my experience, I can only deduce it's a problem with the hardware.

Windows 10 installs latest drivers automatically. I don't know if Windows 7 will do the same.
It's not uncommon for the problem to be on the PC side.
Try to uninstall and the drivers, update OS and clean your windows system. Then connect the phone and let Windows install the drivers.
For ADB connection you need either Huawei or Google drivers. Depends on Huawei model.

I have this problem on my windows 10 but not on my windows 8 laptop. The fix is to manually update the installed device driver software. That is assuming you've previously installed all drivers or windows installed them for you.
If you connect your phone to PC and put it on file transfer mode. But nothing comes up do this
Connect phone to PC.
Right click start menu
Click device manager
Expand portable devices
Under portable devices you will see mtp device or
You should see your device eg H60-L04
Right click. Update driver software
Browse my computer for driver
Click Let me pick from a list of drivers
It should show you a couple of drivers. Like MTP / MTP USB device. Just pick another from the list and click next.
Hopefully this works for you
