Assistance please - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 Windows Mobile 2005 Upgrading

Please help me out as I'm trying to help a friend. He has a Xda2 unit with a Windows Mobile 5 OS. Whenever the unit boots up there an irritating bleeping sound. This can be remedied when you turn the unit off then on again after a few seconds. Any idea how this can be remedied.
Other issues with his unit is that when you use the volume slider key for volume up he says it doesn't work but works when you do volume down. Could it be just dirt that lodged into the spaces? Another headache is that the bluetooth registers "hardware error." Weird as these 2 problems just came up recently. Unit was ok a few days ago besides that bleeping sound.
I'm not sure much on the details how he came about with this problem but I recall he upgraded the ROM. Did a hard and soft reset plus clear storage and problem persists. Should he downgrade to the original OS and re-upgrade back to WM5 when the problem goes away? What's the original OS for this?
I suspect its a software error but that is just my amateur opinion. Anyone who has experienced such problems please do post your solutions as they would be greatly appreciated. Friend is a newbie owner of a Xda2 and I have limited knowledge as how to help him - plus he lives quite far from me.

In call volume slider not working :(((

Using WM6 Vodafone v1520. And as the headline says, when in call, the volume slider has absolutely no effect whatsoever. I can only hear the ticking of the slider (or watch it move up/down) but it doesn't affect the volume level of the earpiece. If I switch to speaker phone the speaker phone slider works just fine. Have searched for solution for this topic but apparently I am the only sucker with this problem. Have done hard resets but no luck.
If anyone has come across any solution for this, please help.
EDIT: Forgot to mention that I have tried changing all the registry keys that I've found but also no luck.
Thanks.

I am having same problem V1520 owner aswell.
I believe due to hands free problems that the bluetooth stack is rubbish not sure if that is part of the problem, including radio version.
hi there,
i have the same problem, do you have any solution?
Nope. And VF basically told me to ...
You know what I mean.
ASUS warranty should cover it though.
yet more bluetooth...
I have the same issue, I get around it by using the volume control on my bluetotth earpiece. Beyond that there seems to be no other way.
Also having issues trying to get BT keyboards to work.
I don't use BT earpiece currently. I thought about it but the idea still feels strange to me... Gonna consider it once I start using the phone.
Thanks for the information tho
UPDATE:
After arguing with ASUS support for two months I was able to get an upgrade to firmware for 45$. I haven't yet got the device from the service, I will on Monday but they told me that in-call volume is now adjustable and working. Hope everything else is still working
Good luck.

Internal Speaker Dropping Out

Hi all, hopefully someone might have seen this issue or at least know a way around it.
Basically over the last few days I have noticed that when I am on a call my internal speaker tends to drop out and I hear nothing. It does it constantly, drops out for a second or 2 every 5 - 10 seconds.
If I put the speakerphone on it doesn't drop out at all, so I am thinking it isn't a radio/reception issue.
I have no idea about bluetooth as I don't use it, but I can tell you the wired headset that comes with the phone is fine also.
This problem occurs regardless of which ROM I have installed as I have tested over a few different ROMs.
Any ideas ?
Cheers.
Sounds like an internal hardware problem. I had that speaker go out on a Blackjack 2 and replacing the speaker fixed the problem.
I was thinking the same thing, but obviously I am hoping it isn't. Too lazy to be dealing with hardware issues and sending it away for repairs etc etc.
I have the same problem. I replaced the speaker, I used the phone for 1 day and after that the problem appeared again. I dont know from where the problem is appearing. Maybe some one from here have any idea.
Where did you get hold of a replacement speaker?
speaker problem
I have the same speaker problem. Seems like it happened after I updated to the newest rom. Anyone else notice this?
Same here
I have the same issue. I sent the phone back for repair but they refused due to the rom change.
their OFFICIAL line was that 'due to changing the software on the phone you have used a rom image that has 'OVER POWERED' the speaker and damaged it'.
if you replace the speaker it will happen again.
what you all need to do is clarify which rom was install when the fault occured. Unfortunatley i can't help with that as i have tried several roms since to try and fix the problem hoping it was software.
hope this helps.

[Q] Intermittent call volume drop

I've been digging as much as I can on this issue, and so far I haven't been able to find any official acknowledgement or diagnosis of this issue. Please forgive me if this has been discussed before, but I simply cannot find the thread.
So far, I have had 2 Nexus 5's. Both of them had the exact same issue. When I am on a call, occasionally the volume from the other side will drop to a level where I cannot hear it. This happens most often when I am listening through the earpiece, thought it has happened while using speakerphone and multiple bluetooth headsets (plus my car). There doesn't seem to be a specific thing that triggers the issue, the area or type of phone I am calling doesn't seem to matter.
The phone is stock, I've never messed with the OS and the only apps I've downloaded were basic free ones, too many to list but if an app could be causing it I can post a list.
So far, I've tried the following to resolve the issue.
1. Factory reset both phones
2. Change sim card
3. Contacted my wireless provider (AT&T)
4. Contacted LG
5. Contacted google
Changing phones didn't help, Factory reset seemed to fix the problem for a bit but it came back. Changing sim did nothing. AT&T told me that because the device was third party, it wouldn't work properly. (I don't believe that for a second) LG just wanted me to ship the phone to them. (Not an option as they will take 2 weeks to get it back to me) And google just gave me some basic troubleshooting tips that I had already tried.
I cannot RMA the phone, i bought it used off of Swappa. I do not want to pay LG for a repair as this is a software issue and it should be solvable on my own. (though I will send the phone to them if it comes to that)
Has anyone had this issue, or at least heard about it? The only possible explanation I've found is that there's a problem with the noise cancellation software, but no one seems to have any solutions other than send it to LG, which really isn't an option for me at this point.
Thanks a crap load in advance to anyone who can shed any light onto this.
Bump for help please.
We are in the same boat

I'm being searching a lot to find a solution to this problem, but no luck.
I am using a Nexus 5 from the past 15 days and have the same problem of low to no volume from the speaker (voice of the other party). I initially though that it happens when I am outdoors, but no, it happens indoors too; and this does not happen always, sometimes it is loud and clear sometimes it is not. So I suspect that this has got something to do with the software rather than the software.
Even I don't have an option to send it back to LG cause I bought this in a different country.
My phone is Stock OS, updated to 4.4.4, rooted has Xposed Framework on it.
I also modified the build.prop and set the persist.audio.fluence.voicecall from true to false, but even this did not help.
Please, please, please, if anyone has found a solution to his please let us know.
If you press the back of the phone slightly, does it lower the sound? when i do not apply pressure to any back part of the phone, the sound is clear. with even slight pressure the sound dims on the other side. just noticed this today after trying to troubleshoot the problem. really bad design

So far I haven't been able to try that. For some reason the phone has started behaving, though there are a few issues here and there. I'll try this out next time it happens and report back.

[Q] Sound Occasionally Cuts Out from Speaker.

Im having some problems with my Nexus 5 speaker. I've tried many reboots, booting into safe mode and even a factory reset and the problem is still there. Because of this; I am convinced the problem is with the hardware.
I've looked up videos and guides on how to replace the speaker assembly and it does not look too hard to preform, so I was just wondering if I replace the speaker at the bottom of the phone will this fix my problem?
I too am experiencing the same issue where my speakers are no longer functional. My speakers have cut out since upgrading to 5.0.1. I had no issues previously in 4.4.4 nor 5.0.0.
I chatted with a Google CR for help, and they just gave me a laundry list of things to try: Safe Mode and factory reset. But likewise, I have had no luck resolving my speaker issue. I then contacted a T-Mobile Hardware Support rep, and he referred me to XDA.
Being a noob to XDA, I'd like to try either going back to 5.0.0 or waiting for 5.0.2 before declaring my issue a hardware problem. I hope it is not hardware related because I don't have many options at this point with my Nexus 5 being out of warranty. My search through the forums continues...
