I agree I would like to strip all of that plus SMS, and MMS, Tmail, poutlook, etc. I would like Office in a cab so I can install it to SDCard. I want to keep my Wiz clean, only install to device what needs to be installed to device. I have 2gb Memory card and 48mb of storage, which makes more sense to use?

I'd be happy to gen a cleaner rom, but with installing apps on the SD, it sounds like that's a huge cause of excessive battery drain. I figure the space inside the rom is basically use it or loose it. Even after all the crap I added into Pandora, there's still 45 meg free.
I only keep my post-flash cabs and media over on my SD, and never have had an issue with drain.
Just a few thoughts.
I'll see what I can do when I get home tonight.

imagine smaller reg, more mem and pure power...(if OMAP can have any power..)..
i am afraid, that outlook is rooted too deep to be really "strippable", though.
but geez, i do not need outlook, too.

From what I understand there isn't that much different with Office 2007, but any chance of pulling this out and making it a cab so we can run it on other roms? I'd look at doing this myself but my time is limited this week, so if someone else gets a chance to do it, that would be very appreciated! Otherwise I'll download and take a crack at this next weekend.

Everyone releases base Rom`s for other cookers or kitchens for "do it yourself"

Well I tried... I do not know if it works or not, It installs to my wizard, but since I cooked the rom with it already installed, i am not sure if it is actually my cab or the original install.
USE THIS FILE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!! It is for test purposes only!!! This is my first attempt at creating a cab file!!

Microsoft Office.cab doesn't work, ......just tried to install it on NBD 5.5.

Xplore 2.0n is about a stripped Rom I have found, and I personally use the other junk you mention. So depends on your definition of stripped I guess. If you want a really stripped Rom, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=307080 he has one that is more stripped than most, but these things are really unknowns and test as your own risk.
I personally think most of the well known cookers have done amazing jobs with there releases and taking feedback in stride and working to fix issues. All of these are miles above standard releases from the phone companies versions which are garbage for people like us. Hence, this site exists.
You shouldn't buy a phone with a camera and then wonder why there is a camera application?!?! Makes no sense to me that one.
The point of WM5 and WM6 on even the stripped down Windows mobile phones is Mobile Office, like Excalibur now has. I use all of those apps in that suite...hence, why MS is targeting business people with these devices to put a beat down on Blackberry.
These are intended to be serious multifunction devices on how people work and play, mostly work...they are still evolving, but so far the average person that is expecting to buy these things are pretty pleased at what they can do.
Of course, you can always learn to do it yourself and stop making post like this for all to read
Have fun..

BACK IN BLACK
Hello everyone,
Today is my B-Day.
I am posting Version 1 of my rom (finally)
I have reworked quite a few things. I wish there was more I could do, but time is hard to come by.Screenshot Here: (why can"t I get it to show animated gif"s !?!?!?!)
So here is the Live Free version of my rom; and it includes the following:
>Splash Screen 1 and 2 and bootscreen. (only the welcomehead is "branded" as I know that some of you may want to switch roms eventualy)
>10 Button Comm Manager (by me)
newExplorer
With extended functions: tap and hold to activate context menu and options. It will always start up default mode until you start you the context menu
>SRS WOW
pBar 1.5
Enabled by default to close programs. you will have to personalize the settings by tapping the today screen upper right corner (4th icon from the top right opens up optios)
ESMERTEC JBED 20080222.3.1 (for opera mini. Download from the Opera Website. I recomend 4.1beta)
Today Agenda To be activated in TodayMeny Options. (I left the today screen blank for memory reasons, + I hate to have my phone start up with useless things after flashing.Slows things at first boot)
ArcSoft MMS 4.2.8.1
Network Wizard In Settings\Connections to set up data and mms.
Camera 3(25498) (by the way, I am working to update this thing eventually)
Smartskey Press and hold soft keys to access start menu and exit button without stilus
Office 2007 complete with OneNote and Notes
Internet Sharing (GPRS internet to PC. recomend "...DataWmodemlink")
WM5torage 1.78b2 To use the phone like a card reader (speeds copying files by my observation)
1Calc (replaced standard calc in menu. The old it is in windows directory)
MS Voice Command (enabled by default = button 4)
Touch Scrolling (not cube) allows to close the Xbutton with finger, and fixes a lot of the screen issues.
BlackBars.exe included in the windows directory. (I forgot to disable running it in customizations. It is there in case you want to switch the theme back)
Registry hacks. larger cache and better performance (ate up about 3mb but runs VERY smooth)
FLASHING INSTRUCTIONS:YOU MUST BE CID AND SIM UNLOCKED
G3/G4 Safe
I recommend using the old update utility; however I included the new XP and VISTA.
Plug your phone into the computer and start your choice of update utility. It updates slowly and freezes at the beginning and at the end. This is normal.
Flash with your SD card installed. Customization is set up to install off your card if your card has the nesesary setup.
Keep your phone connected to the computer untill the phone reboots after customizations. (I usually have issues if I don't)
First boot seems slow. Just be patient. This thing runs rock solid for me and pretty quick too. It's worth the wait.
Please report bugs (I don't think I overlooked anything... but...)

Addons
I reserve this post in the name of addons!
I could have added them in ROM, But that would have been a waste of space.
Also, This will be a place for fixes:
In the first download you get:
Fixes:
SRS-WOW registry fix (I just noticed the bug)
ampda_camera Speckle fix (I forgot)
HTC Power Management cab (turns on power management for everything -SDcard)
sd-battery-save cab (Turns on power management for SD card with some side-effects)
Show Sim Contacts cab (if all of your phone numbers are on SIM card and not in outlook)
Apps:
Opera Mini 4 (.jad means that you have to install it through the EsmertecJava)
PocketXpdf (recomend installing on storage card. it can run standalone)
vp3G-HTC_X-Button_1.5 (the usual task manager/today plugin... I don't know why you'd want it)
Windows live (some version. I forgot. stopped using it completely. You should download from M$)
AdvancedConfig_v2.0.2.0
BatteryStatusExt.1.05.UPXed Beta Overclock/today plugin/many features
Clear Temp cab (I recomend putting it on storage card. it can run standalone)
FlashPlayer7 cab (I hope they come out with a new version soon)
Fring (the most stable version of the all in one messenger and skype phone plugin.)
HTC AudioManager today plugin. (plays music from today screen.)
HTC Streaming media (too big to put in oem. I had to cut it)
OEM Spite Backup v5.1cab (I don't know if it really works. never had to use it. try it before relying on it)
Standalone apps: (no cabs) I recomend running these off the storage card.
magic ss.exe (screenshot utility: make a shortcut to Windows\startMenu\Programs\ ; Then assign button)
Task Manager 2.9 (all in one task manager and registry editor. If I post registry fixes.zip then yoou will need to use it to import those registry settings.
Extended Rom Utility: Unlocks/Locks your extended rom

It does not have IPL/SPL
the partitions it does have:
HTC_logo.nb
Splash.nb
OS.nb
I believe that is G4 safe, But ask on the G4 forum fist before flashing. Please let me know what the answer is so that I can adjust accordingly and upload the OS.nb only.
Thanx for flashing

What's your favorite collor/Wishlist?
HRUDKA : You want it in bubble gum pink or baby blue?
(you can always change the theme and the phone background)
I stuck to black for this reason: the immage takes up less kb in ram and the os. to make it load the gui faster and smoother. If peple don't like the collors, I will try to change it to something lighter; but there have to be enough people asking.
Eventualy, I would like to make it more of a designer's rom... more art than tech. However, I want to make sure that people really like the functionality of this rom, that everything works and is at least as stable as the original wm5rom. (although 2.25 had a memory leak and had to be reset every other day)
The Wizard was dubbed "The communication powerhouse". That is what I want to take it back to.
Tomorrow while in flight I will be working on it some more
In the mean time, I want to ask you this question:
What do YOU think would make this the communication powerhouse? and What would YOU like to see in this rom?
I haven't made a rom for my self yet. mine will include a multilanguage keyboard, and Photogenics which are both pay software and I can't post here.
If you know of any free programs like these, please let me know, and I will make an "artist" rom as well.
Yes, I got kinda sick of all black all the time. but try asking hundreds of people: "What's your favorite collor?" LOL.
anyways, if you don't like the collor, change your theme. [email protected] knows there are plenty out there!
please let me know what does not work so I can fix it (eventualy I hope to be surpassing Faria's work)
Thanx for flashing
Hi SVI,
I downloaded and tried your original version, and had no issues to speak of. Was a solid, quick rom that met my needs. While not a super user, the items I use such as wifi, tcpmp - yahoo go, etc worked flawlessly.
I will gladly download your latest back to black version, and give it a go - although, must admit, not really worried - if it just the next step to your first release - should be a good one.
You have piqued my interest with your "artist" rom idea, and am eagerly awaiting the progression of this concept. Being a airbrush / mural artist - this concept is right up my alley.
While relatively new to this rom flashing, etc - the cooking process is completely foreign to me. Whereas most of the roms have a little this, or a little that to make them different and stand out from the rest, the software and add-ons are basically the same, or available for all to install. But a visually different concept, or base software available for graphic content is very interesting......
Okay - way off topic here, will download now, flash as soon as I can, and update accordingly.
Happy Birthday Sir - and thanks for your efforts
Have a good one
Bill

lol im not a noob i was just curious to what it looked like. ps. how come everyone uses rapidshare? i think http://www.zshare.net/ is a better option you dont have to wait.
This is a nice Rom. I like the Graphics. The Comm Manager is Brilliant. UC compliant has T-mobile settings set up to install, and I am AT&T, also, The windows live is the newer useless one. It has no messenger. It is for OEM Roms that have there own messnger. I flashed the rom and have been running it since you posted it. Out of your addons, I only installed the Power and battery Tweaks, although I can do that with a Reg editor.
I am in the Minority but I really do not like UC Compliant Roms because when given a choice, I will add what I want and I do not mind all the un-usefull addons. the more you can cram into this rom the better.
This rom is Fast and dependable, but slows down when adding the HTC Home plugin. sometimes it has to think when trying to open Messaging, takes a Few.
I have it overclocked with omap to 240. last rom I didn't need to overclock at all with HTC Home plugin.
Will give more feedback in a fewdays..late Happy Birthday SVI
just got on the plane. I will be adding the att provxml and the network wizard in connection settings does not work?

Michy I just wanted to say a big thanks from all of us at the x7510 thread for all your hard work. This has been fun working with you...
Michy, thank you very much! Your work is great!!!
Woohoo!
Not sure what I'm doing yet, but this sounds good...:-S
D'Oh! max limit reached on rapidshare! :-(
Hi Michelle- great work here! I've got this on my O2 XDA Flint and it really rocks- very fast and seems stable so far!
I'm really surprised how good PointUI has become- I've used Mobile Shell 2 and 3 till now, but may keep PointUI for the time being.
RAM after a SR seems a little low at 48MB- does PointUI grab a lot of memory?
What have you taken out of this build in the Lite version? I may try the Lite if I can't get enough RAM for iGO8 to work (not tried it yet but it usually likes 50MB free to run)
Thx again

Hmm- just checked and PointUI uses 16MB of RAM, so I may go back to MS3 which only uses 8MB!
just checked : pointui is using 8.85mb ram according to the fdc taskmanager.
edit: the light vrsion is just like the full, but is only the clean operating system.
Thanks for all the hard work you have put into this project.
I have installed all three versions and have settled with the 6.1 Light, I am ver interested in a Manilla version of 6.1, is this possible ?
I will be making donation to your beer fund for sure!

Spb Mobile Shell 3
Michy: Yes- it does seem to vary, but currently mine is using 10MB for PointUI, so I don't know why it was initially 16MB!
Good news is that iGO8 runs fine even with PointUI loaded, and even better in this ROM, iGO actually exits correctly, which it doesn't in the stock O2 ROM.
I may still try the Lite version!
Donation on its way
Needs some work
I think this Full version needs some more work. The Light version seems much better. First, to be left with only 34MB of program memory after installation is terrible - the Light version leaves me with 64MB. Secondly, when I selected PCM Keyboard Ext for my input, the input selection simply froze. No input keyboard would come up, and I could not even select any other keyboard.

Possibly somethig went wrong with the installation? Did you do a hard reset immediately after the ROM flash? That sometimes clears some temporary files that can remain behind.
I had 47MB program memory after a soft reset with PointUI loaded and 57MB with it unloaded. The Lite version gave me 61MB after the ROM flash, going down to 48MB with Spb Mobile Shell 3, Touchpal and Spb Weather installed, so the 2 ROMs are quite similar. I've seen no major difference in performance between the Lite and Full versions, but have opted for Lite as I hate Opera and prefer to have it removed, and I prefer Touchpal as my SIP
I didn't try the PCM keyboard whan I had the full version installed, but have had the same freezing on both my previous X7510 and Diamonds so maybe its an application issue?
May be this question is outside of this thread but the problem occured with this new ROM.
Previously on SIM changing all new parameters of internet connection were received automatically from mobile operator. Now they aren't.
I like this version and I don't to go back to old original slow version... and I can't get settings from mobile operator (Vodafone CZ) to setup them manually.
What it could be? And how it can be solved?

If PCM Keyboard is buggy, it should not be part of the ROM. I had used PCM Keyboard before and it was ok. It was the PCM Keyboard Ext I tried and the device froze.
Sorry - I meant the PCM-Ext one! I don't even know what it's supposed to do as each time I tried it on older devices it froze!
Your RAM issue - I can only assume some sort of flashing error as you have done everything by the book. I can only repeat that I had around 45MB free. Maybe Michy can confirm the expected figures?
Anyway from your other post, I presume you are now using Lite?
@ natrix- yes, this ROM omits the HTC Connection Setup program so you need to find the correct settings. Can you ask Voda CZ tech support?

Neil,
I see from your site review of the Flint, you tested it with the O2Menu software installed the rebrabded Mobile shell app.
Any chance you can hook us up with a Cab to install ? or point is to a link for DL ?
Thanks a lot, NeilM. At least I know the reason of the problem.
I found in internet settings for different countries.
In case it will be useful for someone else:

Ah- glad you found it- I was about to post a link to This site that seems to have a comprehensive list of operators (including Voda CZ!)

It may not have been clear from the review, but the reviewer, Dave, was using the standard Spb Mobile Shell application on his Flint. The O2 Menu application comes with the O2 Zest which he also reviewed, but I don't know if anyone has extracted it yet.
It may be worth your while registering on 4WM, and posing the question in the Flint review thread- you may get a better answer!

(ICONS AVAILABLE AT VILLAINROM.co.uk - THANKS MANUP456)
DISCLAIMERS:
1. An SD-EXT partition is required in this ROM (for additional apps), but the ROM itself will NOT install to it. Yey!
2. A ROM shouldn’t brick your phone, unless the “developer” has been foolish enough to include an incorrect radio as part of the installation. That being said, if you somehow manage to brick your phone, Team Villain are in no way responsible. We will, however, give you a tenner for it in the unlikely event of a Desire resembling a housebrick.
3. THERE IS NO CAMERA IN THIS ROM. DO NOT ASK ABOUT THE CAMERA. I actually got this rom semi (more like 1/8) working on the old kernel. I even got it to take a picture, but then it FCd. Then, to my surprise, so did every other application on the phone. I simply don’t have the time just yet to spend on this. Maybe in a week or so I’ll get around to it.
4. If you ask a question that has been answered in this opening post, I tend to get frustrated. It shows an utter lack of respect of the developer, who has spent hours of his personal time creating this ROM for you, then another hour writing up an epic set of release notes, only for a ‘one-post-wonder’ to come along and say ‘WTFOMG – NO CAMERALULZ IN THIZ ROM!!!!!!! WHY???!!!12!.?’. ... so yeah, please don’t do that. Read thoroughly.
5. This is a BETA version. As previously stated, the camera doesn’t work. It will, in time, but it doesn’t right now. There may be a few bugs, so I’d appreciate some solid, usable feedback.
6. VillainROM are awesome. If you don’t believe me, join our IRC channel. The details of which can be found on VillainROM.co.uk, in the General Chat section of the forum. Alternatively, you can use the client built into our website.

So, here it is; 0.2.0. Not exactly a monumentally groundbreaking update, but an update, nonetheless. Reports were flocking in that the Browser wasn’t working on some webpages... so my first mission was to logcat that. It turned out, that in my haste, I seemingly deleted a semi-essential lib file relating to flash-lite. This was preventing sites with even the slightest element of flash to keel over and die quietly like the hare I smashed into with my car last night. Stupid thing. I mean, seriously... what was it thinking? It saw a predator (I came to the conclusion that cars are essentially a form of predator, as far as 50cm tall land mammals are concerned) coming right towards it at 60MPH, and ran TOWARDS it. Not away; not to the side; TOWARDS it. I felt quite terrible for a minute, then I thought to myself; ‘No, I’m not feeling bad. This is the real world after all. Survival of the fittest and all that. Well, it turns out that cars are significantly fitter than over-sized rabbits. Poor thing.
Still... guilt got the better of me. I continued my drive home, feeling a little bit sick as a result of the mental image of a still twitching, roadkilled big-bunny corpse imprinted to the front of my mind.
Where was I? That’s right – the browser. Yeah, so it was a simple fix. A missing lib file. Big deal, I hear you say. Well, luckily, that’s not the best news of the day. The best news of the day by a country mile, is that the outstanding Android ROM developer, Richard Trip has joined the VillainROM team. YES, THAT’S RIGHT – the ORIGINAL and arguably greatest AOSP ROM developer has joined our ever increasing ROMOPOLY (for the non-native English speakers out there, that’s a pun on Monopoly, not roly-poly). Anyway, the point is, we’re using his (and probably will continue to use his) fantastic, OC kernel in this ROM. Welcome to the team, Richard.
God man... get on with it.
So yeah. Browser fixed, flash problem fixed, Full flash added (needs updating from market).... uhmmmm..... I added the original HTC album, and the Gallery 3D will be uploaded as a flashable zip.
THINGS TO COME:
- Flashable .zip which removes HTC lockscreen
- Flashable .zip which adds circle battery mod

Old post info: NOW REDUNDANT
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Welcome to Supervillain HD 0.1.1 (BETA)
Before we begin: The whole ROM installs to NAND. We don’t need half the system on your SD EXT partition. Woop!
This ROM is based on the latest Desire HD ROM (SENSE 2.0), but with Rosie, and a lot of other crap removed. The ROM is offered in two versions; Launcher Pro and ADW.J
It’s the best of both worlds. All the Sense applications (messaging, dialler, mail, etc – all are far superior to the alternatives), without the slowdown of Rosie and it’s 130mb of additional crap. I’m blowing my own trumpet here, but to me personally, this rom is the ****.
The only let down, of course, is the (lack of) camera, but I’ll get around to that in time.
At last. It’s ready for the public domain.
I can tell you in all honesty that this ROM has been an utter bastard to complete; and by that, I don’t mean that it was born illegitimately out of lawful matrimony. I couldn’t count the hours it’s taken to get to this stage on both hands... I **** you not. First, there was the size. How, I asked myself, do you get a 276mb zip file down to a target size of <150mb, for it to fit on the Nand drive? After all, we don’t want to have to install half the system directory to the SD External partition...
Well, I’ll tell you how.
First, I had to look up and test the necessity of more files than cigarettes I smoke, within the system folder. Libs, apks, images, images within apks... you get it. Many of these have been removed, as is the nature of the SuperVillain series. Those that were lucky enough to remain, have been APK optimised, PNG optimised. Sadly, this didn’t hugely reduce the size. It seems that HTC have, on this occasion, been on the ball and already optimized their apps.
Due to HTC’s strange and bewildering requirement that certain files are seemingly married to others, meant that after I finished deleting, stripping, etc, I was welcomed into the world of boot loops. Boot loop, after bloody boot loop. That’s if I was lucky.
On many occasions, it wouldn’t even load the boot animation, or show up in adb, for that matter. So, I turned to my good old friend, Kmsg. I won’t go into what that is, because if you don’t know right now, you probably have no interest in knowing. Sufficed to say, after several days of stripping files, testing, kmsging, altering files, stripping again, kmsing again, etc etc, it finally did as required, and booted. Yey, it EFFING booted! But that wasn’t to be the end of my woes.
The new HTC IME keyboard seemed to be in love with Laputa. What the hell is this Laputa anyway? Who uses that? I mean... honestly? 25mb’s worth of Laputa related files were bogging up the system, but the HTC keyboard demanded that this mysterious, yet obese thing that is called Laputa remained in place. That annoyed me to such an extent, that I tried other keyboards. IME Mod and stock Vanilla. Guess what... Sense 2.0 didn’t like those, either. Luckily, after a re-base, Laputa fell out with HTC IME, and moved on to pastures new. Laputa, the *****, left IME for another keyboard. Good news for me though... BYE BYE LAPUTA, WELCOME BACK NEW HTC IME KEYBOARD! Not that I use it myself; I’m a big fan of Swiftkey, personally.
I was so overjoyed, I could have cried like Louis Walsh at Gamu Nhengi’s beautiful rendition of ‘To make you feel my love’. It’s a farce that she went out of the competition by the way... but that’s another story entirely.
So. The ROM booted, and the keyboard worked without the love of its clingy ex, Laputa. All good.
Things were finally looking up!
Then came the images. Such a simple part of the process generally. Open up the framework-res.apk, locate the Default Wallpaper, and simply copy over it with the new, SuperVillainHD wallpaper. Oh no... not in Sense2.0. We’ll have a total of 4 folders, buried all over the place, each with their very own Default_wallpaper.jpg. Whatever, HTC... I love you, but at the same time, I really, really hate you.
I won’t go into what happened next, as another 6 hours of ‘trial and error’ in an attempt to speed up the ROM further, finally succeeded. What you see before you is the FINAL BETA version, and a base in which I can build upon and improve.

That's just superb!!!! Not even past the first page and someone asked about the Camera.
Other than that - ehem - interesting idea for a ROM. If I get the chance I'll give it a try. Still playing with trying to sort the 720p frame rate at the moment so don't want to loose the C****a function just yet.

Absolutely fantastic news! I rooted my phone just a week ago and the first (and only) custom rom I've tried so far is your SuperVillainROM. And it's in every way superior to the stock HTC Sense.
I'll have to give this a try when I get the time for it. Thanks for your hard work, it's truly appreciated

[ROM][EC05] RandomROM PHOENIX II FINAL [AIO][6-LOCK][NoCIQ] | 11/29

FROYO ROM
2.2.1 EC05 "Phoenix" II [Journaled]
From the ashes of RandomROM Plus, Phoenix rises.
EC05 AIO Volume/Hotspot/Lockscreen
The first rom to combine ALL of these great mods!
Updated 11/29/2011
Updates, Important Notices, and General Information Posted Here!
I'd like to extend a special thank you to anyone who has donated!
I maintain RandomROM as a distribution across multiple forums. As such, the bulk of the information, details, etc. is maintained on my site. Rest assured, the links below will take you to aforementioned site where you will find all of the information you require regularly updated on how to use this rom. No subscription required. Always free (donations appreciated, never required). All of my roms, mods, themes, guides, etc. can be found on this easy to navigate site as well as my blog for upcoming updates. As always, I will still answer questions here.
Disclaimer: I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards, divorce, bankruptcy, acne, etc. Please do some research if you are a first time flasher BEFORE flashing this rom. YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if you point the finger at me if something goes wrong with your device, I will laugh. By downloading, you agree to have read all pertinent information provided and to accept any and all responsibility subsequently.
Home Of The AIO Mod For EC05.I have updated and merged necrosan's wifi tether mod and mkasick's volume rocker mod together, as they change the same framework.jar. This means that Sprint Hotspot will work freely without an additional Wifi Tether app, and that your volume rocker can now seamlessly transition from silent, to vibrate, to loud. Included in this conglomeration are also maddoggin's lockscreen mod. This will currently remain known as the AIO mod, and version 1 is the latest. It is included in the Phoenix Blue EC05 theme.
To any rom/theme developers: Feel free to utilize this mod but be sure to reference myself and all aforementioned developers involved. It took a lot of time and effort to make these great features play nicely and it's important to keep the original creators in the loop.
Why Should You Use RandomROM?
Alternate names considered: BatteryROM, BurningROMThis rom is a personal hobby of mine to maintain the greatest battery life that I can. I've scoured the forums searching for the newest and greatest tweaks, mods, etc. to include, and then carefully tested them all for battery performance. I've also made additional changes and additions all my own. As such, this rom has compiled the excellent work of many great developers into my own ideas and configurations. Contained within are many useful apps pre-installed as well as an effort to replicate my exact setup which has yielded me 1-2% battery loss per hour maximum when idle!
All included apps have been RandomKing-Approved to conform with the best battery usage. I'm always on the lookout for more tweaks, possible thematic changes, etc., however this version is the last major revision last based on EC05. There should be no issues, but should I happen to find one, I may simply release a patch or quietly switch out the upload version.
Many of you have complained that others achieve much better battery life. The goal of RandomRom is to provide MY setup that's provided me with great battery life. Further details possibly important details will be made available in post 2. Any other information can be found on my site along side the download links.

You've got questions, here's some answers!
When should I use the AIO mod?
If you're on a rom that doesn't have it, or you flashed an EG22 theme that doesn't include it.
How do I update my SuperUser Binary?
Check out this link and Rodderick will save the day.
Or remove the update.
How do I use my own ringtone, alarm, and notification mp3s?
Create a folder on your SD card called "media".
Inside of that create "audio".
Inside of that create:
"ringtones" for ringtones.
"alarms" for alarms.
"notifications" for notifications.

GPS tends to work pretty well for me. However, as a note on most roms I've tried, it usually works better after a reboot. At it's best, it locks on in seconds, at it's worst, up to a minute generally.
Looks good random appreciate the hard work.. seems like our hobbies are pretty aligned haha. My hobby is battery life
So this looks to be based on srf 1.2? Is that correct?
As a srf user what are the main differences? I see it uses geno and journaling is enabled, any other big changes?

It was originally based on my love for SFR 1.1. From there I set about incorporating in everything I could find or think of from no2chems bionic mod to theimpaler's speed demon keyboard tweak, to the tw date fix. Then I went back and rebuilt the rom to clean things up a bit. I've baked in my shortcut terminal commands to freeze drm, sns, and updates in order to preserve more battery(couldn't make them autorun). Patched together my own version of a theme, made some other rewrites, switched out some apps, aimed towards more black pixel usage and transparent apps(thanks impaler!). Re-downgraded the bionic update from 1.1 to 1.0 to solve issues people were having with wifi connections, added back in media uploading, etc. etc. It's gone through various revisions as I continue to use it myself, throw out certain parts, change others, find new mods that can help preserve yet more battery, etc. Baked in journaling, but also included a non-journaled version. Also, journal on/off cwm flash-ables will be copied to your sd card, should you change your mind later, along with the cwm 3.1.0.1 update. Tried to keep it as functional and slick as ever. And included Rodderick's Genocide 1.0 as that's still my favorite kernel .
I did make it a point to re-use the same data backup code employed by SFR, as I like to switch back and forth between roms. I, myself, am a connoisseur of roms and a flash-aholic. That said, I haven't tried sfr 1.2 personally, so I can't say how this compares.
Thanks for the ROM update. Any plans on Gingerbread ROM?

This 2.2 version is final. I know, silly idea since I just brought it to an xda thread and only a few people followed me here through all revisions and a few more at androidcentral...
But yes, my new hobby is Gingerbread.
My buddy flashed his Epic to this and wiped everything multiple times but it won't leave airplane mode. Thoughts?
Why include ATK? Why not recommend it to people?
Most don't need a task killer and such task killers can hurt more than help... from my experience anyways..
On other note, This looks very well thought out and I will def give it a try!

Did he come from a fresh install? You may need to reflash the modem through ODIN.

Task killers are effective if certain system processes are NOT closed, ie things that will interrupt your service and shouldnt be closed, and if auto-kill is not enabled. I have pre-configured it for both of these concepts. It will only close what can safely be closed, when you tell it to.
Of course, you can just ignore/uninstall it too.
But remember, NEVER USE AUTOKILL.
One more thing... open ATK. Take a look at what it's ready to kill. Kill everything(including ATK itself). Wait 1-2 minutes. Open ATK again, and notice if anything that you just killed is open again. These are un-kill-able, and you're wasting battery trying, so simply add them to the ignore list. Best way to optimize a task killer. You also may want to set it to ignore your music, etc.

[ROM][ALPHA]Honeycomb - OG Droid

THIS ROM IS STILL IN THE ALPHA STAGES!!!!
Here's where you can download the most recent version:
Honeycomb Alpha V0.5.8
Very few things work in this rom, but for good measure here's the list of things that DO NOT work:
Data
Camera
SDCard
Gps
Calls
Battery Status
[ALT] and (hardware) key
Screen Colors (red=blue/blue=red)
App FCs
Original Honeycomb port for the OG Droid thread started by R2doesInc:
Here
======> I TAKE NO CREDIT FOR PORTING HONECOMB TO THE OG DROID
I've put a lot of time and effort into trying to modify R2doesInc's version of HC to function better on the OG droid. There are a lot of problems and I have a small understanding of that I need to edit or replace to get some of them working, but as anyone who knows anything about computers, partial wont work. If anyone is interested in helping, please post here or shoot me a PM.

There was never really a problem to begin with. All you have to do is touch anywhere you can type,

Its a nifty function to switch between which keyboard you want to use

Keep up the good work!
I have my gf's old inactive Droid to play with, and I want to make it into a media device (wifi internet, mp3, games, etc) so this would be perfect for what I want to do with it. I would be more than willing to donate for an operational HC port to this tired, but still good, old device. All I would need is wifi, charging, and usb/pc connectivity. The rest is bonus.
Edit:
On a side note, I don't have much/any real experience with Android development, but I do have some knowledge of programming. I downloaded the SDK and other develpment items a while ago to try, but didnt dive in much. If you would be willing to work with a newb, I would be more than happy to give a bit of time to the cause...

I'm currently working on the USB interface and let me tell you, its a tough nut to crack. I've done some research on it and it seems that there is some bad news (possible delays for a HC USB patch) and some good news (a glimmer of hope in the fact that some other devices have gotten USB functionality). I'm still looking into it, but for now, the only things that I know need to me modified/replaced are '/system/etc/vold.fstab' and '/system/bin/vold'. If there are any other files that I may need to edit or add, anyone, please let me know.
As for the donation part, I don't really deserve donations for what I'm doing. R2doesInc is the one that did all of the work in porting this to the OG Droid. All I'm doing is modifying it to give it more functionality.

Edit:
On a side note, I don't have much/any real experience with Android development, but I do have some knowledge of programming. I downloaded the SDK and other develpment items a while ago to try, but didnt dive in much. If you would be willing to work with a newb, I would be more than happy to give a bit of time to the cause...

I don't mind working with a 'newb' as I too am a newb to the development of roms. I've already learned a lot about working with roms and editing files since I fully dove into working on this. What I need you to do is PM me and I'll give you a basic run down of what I've done (so you can have the same changes made to your copy of OMHC), some notes on what files I've worked with and a list of files that I know of that are connected to each problem. Who knows, by the end of this project we may both be considered devs.
What you need to do is go the R2doesInc's original thread (link in the first post) and follow a link on his page to download the OMHC_Sholes.zip found on his development website. I've emailed him to see if he is willing to help with programming, script writing or advice on how to get some of the functions to work and I'm currently awaiting his reply.
EDIT - The BOLD statement above is no longer true. I have the most recent version linked in the first post. NO ONE HAS TO DO ANY MODDING TO THE ROM TO HAVE THE FUNCTIONS I HAVE ADDED
While it's nice to see forum members contributing to the poll I've attached to this, why don't we get some conversation rolling on this subject. I understand that this idea is a little far-fetched, but with some support and ideas, this could be more functional.
I'm really putting all of the extra time I've got into this (It's not much and I'm currently cutting into my sleep schedule A LOT), but I can't really get anywhere without the help of some experienced or semi-experienced advice. If you have any knowledge of what files are needed for some of the above problems to function, then please post with some advice. The same goes for editing those files.
I'm not a dev, but I'd like to have a more in depth knowledge of how to modify roms from the ground up.
i wish i could give a little bit of help, but i have no idea what i would be doing on the dev side. but i agree, the D1 community is dead. the only thing i could help with is trying to post something on droidforums.com because i think that that site is more active with D1 people. hopefully that helps out a little, but i wish you the best of luck bro and i will be one of the first ones downloading it once its gets stable, i have been waiting for honeycomb for a while. so ill help by giving feedback then.
That would be great, feel free to put a link to this page there if that's allowed. Any dev that could help would be welcomed with open arms

UPDATE - Alpha V0.2
Superuser permissions added
Its the old style and you may have to back out to the home screen (press home soft key in the bottom left of the screen or by pressing search and then the back soft key), but it works. I've been able to use rom manager to reboot into recovery and give Set CPU root access (even though the darn thing FCs after any attempt to change the CPU speeds.
I'm on the D2, but it would be great to see some development for honeycomb, because it seems like once it gets onto one device working well, it spreads like a disease (a good disease... like... something good that spreads like a disease ahaha). The development at droidforums tends to be semi-alive for the OG Droid, though, because I see new posts there almost daily. I'm sure the community would love to help, since there seems to be a pretty solid core of OGD developers there!

Honeycomb would definitely be a great disease to have spreading around. From what I understand the ZTE Blade and the HTC HD2 are the two phones with the most features enabled from HC. Most others are basically in the same boat as the OG Droid.
I'm still digging around a lot to see if I can find anything else to get to work. I'm still having a lot of problems getting the SD Card to mount. The most frustrating things is while running the HC rom, I can enable USB debugging, but my computer (no matter what program I'm using) doesn't recognize my phone. I'll jump between droidforums and here to see about getting anything working.
---UPDATE FOR ROM---
Ok, so this isn't actually anything big. I installed rzr recovery on my phone and used it to overclock my phone to 1100MHz. The rom runs a lot smoother with the overclock, but there's still a lot of lag. I still need to figure out how to make the Hardware accel work.
BE CAREFUL WITH THIS RECOVERY. IT WAS INTENDED FOR RZ ROMS AND MAY NOT LOAD YOUR BACKUPS CORRECTLY!!!
I've also noticed that some apps like to FC when trying to perform certain functions. Maybe because they're not for HC, but I'll be looking into it. Also, I've been kind of ignoring a problem with coloring because Its not all that important, but I'm adding it to the "to do" list
This is great. Keep up the good work friend!

Update - Minor Thread tweaking
I cut out all of the fat and renamed the thread. Also added a link to download Alpha V0.2
I'm still looking for somewhat experienced devs to take a look under the hood and try to help out. Anyone who would like to test the rom can now that I've uploaded it to the web.
Please, PLEASE remember that this rom is still in alpha stages and needs a lot of work or overseeing from an experienced dev. If you notice any problems that are not listed on the main page, please let me know so I can add it to the "to do" list.
Sorry for the delay in a response, Mastur. I have a 7 week old and a new house as well as working nights, so its been short on free time. I will get you a PM tomorrow and try to give you a hand from there. Thanks!
No worries man. I've been hard at work, but I still need help with this. My friend is familiar with xml and html but not with the android OS. So I don't know how much help he'll be. I don't know anyone familiar with java, but I'm not sure how important that really is...
HUGE update coming a little later! A lot of work finished and screen shots uploaded
EDIT - Update's in!!!! The link to the new alpha of Honeycomb is in the first post. Happy downloading =)
thanks man this is pretty cool
Updated link in first post. Better hardware acceleration, still not perfect
Looking great! Keep it up!
